Smudge Pot begins a week early, pizza-eating fundraiser at Michealangelo's on Friday

The second annual pizza-eating fundraiser between San Dimas and Bonita high school football players is on Friday at Michealangelo's Pizza in San Dimas at 3:30 p.m.
A week later the football teams collide in the 38th annual Smudge Pot game between the rival schools, which is one of the most-attended games in the Valley.
Friday's pizza-eating fundraiser is for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, which provides full scholarship grants and family counseling to surviving children of special operations personnel who die in operational or training missions and immediate financial assistance to wounded special operations personnel and their families.
Last year players from both teams raised $4,904.68, and donations at the game raised an additional $1,854.35.
This year $1 from each ticket purchased for the Smudgepot game on Oct. 9 will go to the charity.
"It's a great rivalry, the kids always look forward to it," Podley said. "In the spirit of the rivalry, it's great to see the kids come together and raise money for such a worthwhile cause."

yeah last year just to let you know bonita raised $4,400 of that $4,900
so yeah really shows the effort of san dimas
also another thing records mean nothing
bonita plays tough teams
san dimas plays weak teams so really it all comes down to pride an heart
who wants it more
an its time to bring back the smudgepot to bonita its pretty embarrassing when san dimas has it so lets go bearcats continue the tradition an break this nonsense loosing streak
Last game at SD, they did bring in more bleachers. What budget cuts, who knows?
Looking forward to this event. Its a great game for the kids!
Good Luck to both schools, and hopefully NOBODY get hurt.
You're right that it was a dumbass comment and definitely should not have responded in kind to saintsfan. No reason for me to even make it, however there was no reason for saintsfan to do the same to a kid.
Who won the pizza eating contest...as of now it is game week. Nine dollars for tickets guys...is San Dimas renting bleachers?
Go Bearcats.
Aaron
That's a dumb a@@ comment. Don't make accusations that you cannot prove.
What a jar head.
saintsfan for life,
When I was still a student San Dimas had worse issues with grades. Just a fact...and they probably still have a bigger problem with grades or maybe it was just De Anda.
hahaha ineligable for grades??? haha doesnt suprise me a bearcat didnt make grades they arent that bright.jonathan i dont think you would make that big of a deal if you played saints are gunna dominate on you guys.
maybe next year you can have a chance at getting at the saints my freind devon told me that you never got a chance to play against the saints cause freshman year grades and you sucked last year and didnt play. come on man you bearcats need more discipline
bonita is gunna win against san dimas they have a good D and i think pendelton is gunna help the offense along with holmes, horine, sykes, yepez and others.
in my opinion its gunna be a good game
i have faith in my teammates..ill be there cheering in the crowd
and yeah i cant play until wk 9 which sucks..but thats what i get for acting dumb
I have watch the Bearcats play three games. Needless to say, I don't think we are all that good.
Went and watched Saints play Monrovia last week because I work in Monrovia. Saints just may have a edge on us this year too! I would stop talkin all the trash BH fans until we beat them.
Last year was just a blow-out and they dominated us pretty bad. We need to do our best to win, then talk. Why wake up a sleeping giant?
Good Luck
Bonita Who?
Love your roll, I'll take some of that crap Huth smokes. LOL
KH
Come on key players on defense? Who might that be?
You'll need many more key players to take down the Saints.
Yes, we got whipped by a team rating of 28.7 and you guys got blasted by a team rating of 29.6 Next?
But, here's a real shot of reality: 74-43 Saints over last two year! Ouch! And you think you'll put up 41 as stated in your post below. 43 over the last two years, with way better offense and QB's! Now who's in rehab? LMFAO!
Aaron
I think "Bonita Who" might be a little smarter than you! I would have to agree with him/her! Last year, you clowns said the same old BS, "Saints have not played anybody", we'll this year, your tone is the same! Maybe take that key role player on "D" and make him a "QB" because slug feet can't move or lead a team.
Our House SOON!
Bonita Who?,
Since we live in the world of what have you done for me lately. What have the Saints done for me lately...they got trampled in a loss. What have the Bearcats done, they got their first win against an undefeated team.
Why don't you read...or did you fail that in the second grade? Because if you read my posts it says the only way Bonita will win is if the offense plays a complete game. But it is you that seems to think it's going to be a blow out...in a rivalry like this...yeah, right. It will be closer than last year I guarantee that. I hope at the end either of us will congratulate the winner.
But now back to the smack...every team on Saints schedule so far with the exception of the drubbing by the Monrovia Wildcats(Green and also 'Cats, I like my possibilities) is full of creampuffs. It must be nice to get fat on all of that overconfidence...for the record San Dimas is no Florida.
Go Bearcats
bonita who.
am sure your in rehab.
after all the smoke you toked.
getting blasted your team on the fielf, and you after the game last friday
.
what a whack job,you guys embarrass all of us livingeast of the 605,,,thanks loser. we might have one of our key players on defense back for the saints come friday night.seven more days to heal..
Aaron
Bonita doesn't have anything to speak of right now! Are you kidding me? Your Only win is against a VVL team beating them 9-3, which by the way was 4-6 last year. And you lose to a team like Claremont who's won I think 3 games over the last two years.. What was your margin of victory over a VV team vs our margin of victory over a MM team? UM, you have alot of room to talk.
Same old crap like last year from you hommies! SD hasn't played anybody, then put up 50 on a Bonita defensive team that is way better than this year! You guys have talked, but haven't produced the "W" against us for two years. And what is the over-all record? Isn't that the bottom line in this rivalry?
Hope Pendelton can get out of the pocket, but I really doubt because everyone knows his mobility is not his strong suit. Our LB's must be lickin their chops right about now!
GO SAINTS!
Beating a Los Altos team that is destined to go 1-9 again this season is nothing to talk about...and you must have no recollection of much, the only game Bonita lost in league last year was Charter Oak. Also when it came down to it San Dimas didn't take care of business with a stacked team to win the Valle Vista. I wouldn't call a 27-16 win over a 1-9 Los Altos team in '08 to be stomping Miramonte opponents.
Very simple, look at strength of schedule and you'll see that the Saints are definitely not as prepared as they could be. Wins build confidence so thumbs up for the Saints being 3-1 and crushing the teams they're supposed to crush. But just looked at the combined record of the first three teams the Saints have played and if you say any one of those teams was a quality opponent I would like your Kool-Aid.
That's not say Bonita is going to walk off with this. The Bearcats won't unless...well unless they run all over the Saints like Monrovia did which is a possibility. And um...which quarterback on the Bonita roster is happy feet? If anything I think Pendleton stays in the pocket to long. The kid is a beast and if he used his body when the plays broke down the Bearcats might have one more win. The Bearcats have made major progress from the beginning of the season, a lot of that has to do with the strong competition they have faced.
The last time I was at San Dimas for a game the Bearcats won 34-33 and we made T-shirts about it. And as I said before, will the Bearcats win, I gots no darn clue. Defense has played amazing all year, but the offense has left something to be desired. They'll be ready for this though I can guarantee that.
P.S. To whoever the Saints fans are that want to see Bearcat players hurt...just stop, no one from our side of the district has even said something close to that.
Kh
Good Luck KH, because youre going to need it especially with happy feet under center.
Oh and by the way, didnt SD smack two miramonte teams last year and one again this year? And one again very soon!
And did Bonita really compete against CO last year and this year may be worst? I would bet SD would put up a better fight against CO and DR this year and probably last year too than Bonita did..
You talk about weak leagues, then why not smack the teams in the VVL you play? A 9-3 finish against BP isnt really any big smackin is it?
Keep smokin that crap and maybe it will help you with the pain after next week.
this looks to me like this is there whole season on the line.
how would they like to have to play power house c.o. next. went on max prep saw there league teams they play next ,what a joke.
there stats are ok,playing who they played.but last week was a real test of character.you failed badly, like the way you guys run the ball, thats good hard nose football.your passing game will be ok for your weak league..i notice you have alot of key players going both ways. will hurt you guys late in the game.bonita dosent quit. so if we can stop the run and hang around i think the bearcats will pull out the victory late in the fouth quarter.
only if you guys dont smoke us and ran away too early. good luck both teams
so saying what i think
san dimas 37
bonita 41
go bearcats.k.h.
Well bo-hi has a good chance of winning but they need to step up majorly their Defense is great, you got Eric Mikity,Casey Horine,Tyler Cortez,Chris McNinch,Daniel Harriman and others.
I have faith in QB Garret Pendleton in doing a good job.
Im a HUGE bonita football fan! GO BEARCATS!
And my son has a class with Jonathan, and he's ineligable because of grades from last year. Im not sure if he was a starter but he might have switched with Tyler Cortes or Cody Mackenzie. But im pretty sure Espinosa will be back at the end of the quarter
Bud,
As I'm sure you know...Hi-speed can be used one of two ways. One to talk about all the Hi-speed guys: SF and Ranger types...or when one of the grunts come in just having spent his paycheck on a bunch of gucci gear which we usually call them hi-speed but in a derogatory fashion rather than a compliment.
Andrew,
I don't know about Espinoza but I'm pretty sure Lemmons and Haynes are the rock on that line. I disagree as far as defense is concerned, those boys are good. The Offense, well I hope the growing pains are over, otherwise the 9th is going to be a long night.
in my opinion i think bonita is going to lose. they dont have a good enough D or O to stop san dimas their Oline isnt really that big or fast i saw them during the summer and they seemed they they had it all everything was looking perfect for them but i really dont know what happened i saw a couple of big kids on the O line like kylan hayns terez lemons and jonathan espinoza(which i havent seen or heard from) anyone know if he quit? well they have speed like tyler cortez and andres padila and cody mackenzie has seemed pretty decent. i really want bonita to win,my son goes there but it seems pretty impossible by the way they are playing
It's a blog son, not a clinic. Spend the dough, you'll be a better man for it.

As for the expression itself, it's more common to the Military but also heard often in public service sector to refer to the "latest, greatest, fastest, most powerful or efficient", or as is the case here, just the opposite, as sarcasm. As in "killing an ant with an atom bomb".
Hope this didn't keep you up all night.
TrueBlue,
You are a current player I suppose then, if so shut it because you talking will not help your team. In fact by wasting effort to write smack on the internet it takes away from your studying time which I'm sure you need every nano-second of. You've got three good sized boys on the offensive line, however the Bearcats have beaten Saints before when they had the same.
Like I said I haven't made a prediction, I wouldn't be surprised if the Bearcats got crush but they have too much pride so it will be close ala fall 2005. 34-33 Bonita, except I don't know who will win this year.
The Bearcats have some better size this year and by playing a much stronger schedule should be ready yo go toe-to-toe as long as the offensive growing pains are done with.
And wanting to put kids in the hospital, what a sadist.
Aaron:
We will put 50 on you again. Look out. We are bigger, faster, stronger than you. That was not the case last week and we got punished. Like I said before we are looking to physically beat the crap out of someone and nothing makes me happier than putting a Bearcat in the hospital.
Bud can you explain what a high spped low drag defense is and how it works ...especially against that type offensive formation
I never heard that phrase before
This should be very interesting.
The sign could have been from the Monrovia game. Both schools are green and both are cats of some kind. But look up what a bearcat is and you'll understand that you don't want to get into a fight with one.
Big Cat,
are you dumb? cats = bearcats?
Nice one with the sign. That was from the San Dimas Monrovia game last week, seemed to work out pretty well for you then mabey you should try it again this week! Go Cats!
WHAT THE (HELL WITH THAT PICTURE)?? AND WHAT'S ON HIS NOSE??? Man that looks sick! Fred you don't have a better picture? because that's almost nauseating seeing him eat that pizza.
To all of those BoHi defensive wizzers: you won't stop the San Dimas offense by outsmarting them with blitzes. That doesn't work often enough to offset the big plays you'll give up. Teams have been stopping split t and wing t formations for years, some actually using that high speed, low drag defense you guys do but mostly they used 5 man fronts shaded strong side or six man gap schemes. Now I'm not suggesting you abandon everything, just concentrate on stopping the fullback and the counter and not overpursue. In other words, play it straight between the tackles. While your at it, if he is in good enough shape yet, I'd give ole' #64 a crack at that nose tackle spot and run #52 and #58 outside him.
your friend Bud
Aaron:
Its the same old story.. SD hasn't played anybody. Maybe so, but they kick the crap out of the opponents they did play. And one of them was a Miramonte team again this year.......
Sounds like the same old story of last year and what did SD do? PUT UP 50!
And then what did Podley say" THAT'S A TOUGH OFFENSE" Look for the same this year.
I have us a 2 TD favorite.
True Blue,
I'm stating facts and not excuses...the offense has had so many problems and has not been able to put a complete game together.
Besides Monrovia, who have the Saints played? NOBODY.
The defense will come out strong, and hopefully with not having a game this week the offense will be able to move the ball. Just to let you know the only game in our series in the last decade that you could consider one way was the '06 game and San Dimas lost 35-14.
And obviously this game sets the tone for the second half for both teams with Bonita coming off its first win and San Dimas coming off a crushing defeat.
Looking at the amount of rushing yards San Dimas gave up last week I have hope, but I'm guessing it won't be a shoot out...and my question to you TrueBlue are you a recent alumnus, current student, or overzealous parent...because if you're the last I'd tone it down a bit.
Go Bearcats!
Aaron, we are going to kick your butt. Stop making excuses for your team.
We got whacked by Monrovia and now we are going to take it out on you guys. Get ready for a smack down.
Mainly BoHi's offense is suffering from the loss of Price, Gatti, Griffith, and Gelalich's speed. Combined with bland, predictable play calling and you have a recipe for first half ineffectiveness and a tired defense. What is really funny is had they opened against the teams Rowland, or Walnut, or San Dimas, or Baldwin Park, or most of the Mission Valley or Montview did, they would be 4-0 right now and the Belle of Fred's ball. Podley waited too long to book his week 0 game and ended up with Westview, a tough way to begin the year for a way young team. Claremont has played better this year than anyone ever expected, but Bonita should have beaten them anyhow. Santa Fe was just a case of too much especially size, speed , and strength. I'm still trying to figure out why the Bonita Coaches abandoned the offensive schemes they started the BP game with. They held the ball longer in that first drive than anywhere else all year. Must have dropped that page on the sidelines somewhere.
Truth is here is that the Saints got a lot of their questions answered in their first three games against pretty much nobody. Whereas the Bearcats played one of the harder schedules in the valley and got kicked around.
Games:
The Westview game showed you a young offense that couldn't capitalize on six forced turnovers by the defense and the 'Cats lost 14-21.
Claremont game, I don't know what else could go wrong on offense...not a single first down in the first half; in the second half Bonita controlled the ball for virtually all of it and marched down the field four times to score touchdowns bringing the score 28-31, they were marching down when a holding call nullified a first down which would end up costing them the game. It gave you an idea of what the offense could do if they clicked.
Santa Fe game, honestly they were gigantic and fast. Again the offense couldn't do much but the defense created turnovers and also scored twice on blocked punts/kicks. Unlike the Claremont game in the first half the offense was able to move the ball but really wasn't able to score. Defense kept them in the game for awhile but the final score is deceptive of 22-43 because the defense put twelve points on the board.
Baldwin Park, this game was not even close. The score shows something different of 9-3. Almost all of Baldwin Parks offensive yards came in the fourth quarter as Bonita forced a lot of 3 and outs. After moving the ball so successfully in the first half there just ended up being so many miscues which shows you they are still having growing pains. But the defense showed that it can win the game if the offense sputters. Bearcats probably should have scored three more times if it wasn't for penalties here and there.
Prediction, I have none...because if the offense has as many problems as it has had the defense will force turnovers but they'll be back on the field in three downs which by the second half will wear them down.
Bonita's Opponents have a combined record of:9-4.
San Dimas' Opponents combined record:5-11...and one of those is M-town with 4Ws
