After two appeals, area realignment will finally be settled on Thursday, deciding the fate for Glendora, Charter Oak, South Hills and Rowland

You want rumors, the buzz I’m hearing is that if Glendora is moved to the Baseline Leauge, which is my opinion is a completely raw deal based on the procedures that are supposed to be used in determining whether schools should move up or down, the Tartans could push to be come a freelance school and play a nonleague schedule in all sports. I don’t think it will happen, but that’s what I have heard. The other buzz I’m hearing is that Proposal A will likely pass on Thursday, so get ready for more last-minute appeals, which seem to be the only chance that Glendora, Charter Oak, South Hills and Rowland have.

Today’s story: After a vote by 42 principals and two appeals hearings, the Mt. SAC- area league realignment for 2010-14 will go to a final vote on Thursday at The Grand Event Center in Long Beach by the seven league representatives that form the Mt. SAC area, which includes the Baseline, Miramonte, Montview, Mt. Baldy, San Antonio, Sierra and Valle Vista leagues. Three proposals are on the table for the Mt. SAC-area league representatives to consider, beginning with Proposal A, which was the original proposal voted on last spring by the 42 principals of the Mt. SAC area. To contiue, click thread

If the seven league reps pass Proposal A on Thursday by a majority vote, as some expect, it will automatically eliminate Proposals B and C, which were subsequent appeals to Proposal A that were passed by the Releaguing Committee and Executive Council in May.

New appeals, however, can immediately be raised to the full council on Thursday if Proposal A passes. The full council will then vote that afternoon on whether to leave Proposal A as it is or adopt any new appeals proposed, which would then become finalized.

“One way or another, we will have a final decision,” CIF-Southern Section spokesperson Thom Simmons said.

Proposal A became the subject of heated debate after Mt. SAC-area principals voted to move Glendora from the Sierra League to the Baseline League. Charter Oak and South Hills were moved from the Miramonte and San Antonio leagues, respectively, to the Sierra League. Nogales and Wilson were awarded relief to the Valle Vista League, and Rowland was placed in the Miramonte/ San Antonio League.

If Proposal A does not pass by a majority, the seven council reps will next vote on Proposal B, which was passed by the Releaguing Committee in May that moved Glendora back to the Sierra League and South Hills to the San Antonio/Miramonte League, with the rest of Proposal A remaining the same.

If Proposal B passes, Glendora and South Hills will move to the Sierra and San Antonio/Miramonte, respectively, with the rest of Proposal A remaining the same.

If Proposal B does not pass, then the league reps will vote on Proposal C, which was recommended by the Executive Council with 18 in favor of moving Rowland from the Miramonte/San Antonio to the Valle Vista League, with just one opposed and four abstentions.

If Proposal C passes by a majority margin, Rowland moves to the Valle Vista, with the rest of proposal A remaining the same.

If all three proposals do not pass, then Proposal A by the 42 principals becomes final.
