Girls Volleyball: Mission Valley; El Monte rallies past rival South, Eagles extend streak to 50

El Monte-South El Monte: El Monte High School was down in its Mission Valley League girls volleyball match against South El Monte on Wednesday. But the Lions showed they were definitely not out. Middle blocker Sandra Gutierrez had 14 kills and El Monte rallied from two games down to score a 23-25, 21-25, 25-17, 25-18, 15-10 victory over the host Eagles in the league opener.

Arroyo-Gabrielino:The tendency is to take it easy. That's what happens when a team has won 50 consecutive league volleyball matches. Gabrielino High School took it easy only once in its Mission Valley League opener on Wednesday. The Eagles got out to a quick 2-0 lead, but lost the third game to host Arroyo before rebounding for a four-game victory, 25-17, 25-12, 22-25, 25-14.

I think Gabrielino has a good team and not enough gets said about them. The setter, Ashley, is outstanding, the tall middle, #4, is very aggressive at the net and she can hit,#7, is a strong player too. They have a team of well rounded players. Way to go Gabrielino, keep up the good work!!!,
