Glendora to honor 1989 CIF champions on Friday, special tributes to Karnoski and Baiotto
Glendora's football team is honoring the 20th anniversary of its 1989 CIF-Southern Section Division IV co-championship team during its homecoming game against El Dorado on Friday at Citrus College. Late Tartans coach Dean Karnoski will be honored along with several members of the 1989 championship team during an afternoon parade in downtown Glendora, and later during festivities at the game. There will also be a special tribute for 1989 starting tight end/defensive end and captain Brad Baiotto, who will not be able to attend. Baiotto is a First Sgt. with the U.S. Marines in Ferrah, Afghanistan. The Tartans shared the 1989 title with Ramona, a game that finished in a 28-28 tie.

Wasn't Bill Zernikow a running back on that Glendora team?
I am Brad's oldest brother, and I made the mistake in his ranking. It was not Fred's fault. Brad is a First Sgt, and is leading a Special Ops unit in Afghanistan. They are going door-to-door and routing out the Taliban, and is very dangerous. Thank you Fred for mentioning him, and I know he wishes he could say hello to all his teammates, but he's got more important work to do. Thanks to all Americans for their prayers and well-wishes. Our family and every family with someone in harm's way needs it. I hope Dean Karnoski's family is happy, and I know Brad loved him.
Sincerely,
Brian Baiotto
There is no such thing as a "Special Sgt." in the Marines!! Get the rank right Fred, he earned it!
Semper fi!
