San Antonio League prediction: West Covina is the "real" favorite; 1 vs. 2 will likely settle No. 3

| | Comments (30) |

Above: They get excited at West Covina, check out the vertical leap by one of the Bulldogs' coaches.

Is there a more competitive race in the Valley that what will go down in the San Antonio League with two undefeated teams, Rowland (5-0) and Walnut (5-0), No. 1 and 2 respectively in the Southeast, along with who I believe are the real two favorites, No. 4 South Hills (3-2) and unranked West Covina (3-3)? If you're really going to dissect this and pick a winner, forget the Huskies and Bulldogs' losses, look at their quality wins. South Hills beat Ayala, a team that is 4-1 and a better win than anything Rowland and Walnut has done. West Covina's win is even bigger, beating Glendora, a team that just beat El Dorado and has played everyone on their schedule close. With West Covina as close to healthy as they have been since week one, they're good enough to beat South Hills on Friday. However, a decision on Jordan and Jamie Canada's status for the Huskies could come this week, and if they both become eligible, I'm switching gears and taking the Huskies. Stay tuned. Rowland and Walnut still have a lot to prove, and though this is 1 vs. 2, I really believe this is for third place and the final playoff spot. What a shame that with four great teams, one has to go.
San Antonio Prediction: 1. West Covina, 2. South Hills, 3. Rowland, 4. Walnut, 5. Nogales.

com'n fred ... give rowland and walnut credit
they are doing well in a very long time, and while their wins are not as good as WHS or SHHS losses, they are stepping up, and in impressive fashion

you have to face it that your beloved south hills and wesco are not as strong as before and this will be a three- to four- team race for the SAL crown this year

jamaican john jack@ss....great job of trying to sound like someone you're not. Come talk to me after Friday's game. Bet you wont have much to say then! And next time, don't try so hard to not be recognized. Players from WC couldn't care less about the appeal denial. WC is ready to put in work. Especially on that other transfer(QB)!

Fred,

Why exactly are u picking WC? Position by position SH is way more talented... As a team they are way more talented, so why?

Hey dumba** Da Rey-ahs,

Why don't you take your nursing home/barnyard idiocy about Walnut's kids to them personally so L. Rhodes and the rest of the 3 year varsity players can teach you some manners. Only a jilted ex-playa can have that much BS inside. I doubt that a team that went 1-9, 5-5, and now 5-0 over the last 3 years is going to wet their pants in the face of any adversity. And the only tail that will be turning will be yours as you yellowbelly your way back to the hole you crawled out of.

The only way SH MIGHT beat WC is if their transfers become eligible. Hey Bogan, how about winning with the players you've had for 4 yrs?

We do play with passion over here, coach looks like he's taking off with a jetpack on his back, quite impressive vertical for him.
As for the game, like always against South Hills we have to bring our best game this week,
I saw SH. vs Tesoro and although Tesoro won easy
South Hills looked pretty good, last year I wasn't that impressed with their recivers when we played them, but this year Vaughns and Immodu{spelling?} look quite dangerous. I saw Shirley at reciever that game and he is a good athlete, I haven't seen him at QB for the Huskies but I read he was 10 for 10 for over 300 yards in his first start last week, although that was against Northview who is down this year, lets see what happens when he gets some pressure put on him. Their lines on both side looked like they got tired against Tesoro, but those are some big boy's over there in Orange County. Should be a great game this Friday.

And, why are you posting under the San Antonio League's thread? Damn, you Wilson followers are clueless.

I can't tell you how embarrased I am to be disgraced in front of the rugby community, NOT! Who gives a rats as$. It's no wonder nobody takes you Wilson clowns seriously.

I hope you enjoyed your easy pre-league schedule, because the rest of the way, you're going to be getting pounded week after week, starting with LA this Friday. Welcome back to Big Boy Ball fellas. Let's see how motivated your sorry head coach, Zavala can make all you undersized, underachievers this Friday.

Hey Guru,
Big game for your boys this week . Where are you hiding these days. Maybe all your wrong preditions on SGV teams are what have you lost in action. Do you have the COY trophy all shined up for Hagerty. Also CO knocked off one of your beloved ie teams but really we would love to hear your take on the WC vs SH game . It should make for good reading.

Dan,
You're right, the boys were in the game most of the way. Their score before the half was a great way to go into the locker room.

drsfaw.....
There are plenty who would jump on the "trash talk" line, I was just saying that isn't WCs style. They are a good team and brought a good game that night. Good luck down the line and hopefully the boys are recovered from the injuries they went thru at the start of the season.

SH over WC 21-10 said:

The SH offense is hurting a bit, but I think they can pull off three scores against the WC defense. On the other hand, I do not see WC scoring much on the SH defense. WC can't really pass and ther run game hasn't been doing so well against good defensive teams.

New York said:

That is a VERY impressive vertical jump by that assistant coach. He also has his legs slightly crossed, almost as if he is auditioning for Riverdance....lol.

Thanks Dan, as always a big fan because you're honest and rarely easy to anger. BB&G I wasn't yhnking he was "bowing" as in warranting applause but instead made the observation as a refection of the different images coming together. It seems the play was by the sideines so a sack was the last thing I would have thought....interestting though that you admonish me for inferring WC would be "classless" than make a "back handed" declaration yourself...which Dan corrected...pretty classy on Dan part and not so much on yours.

Walnut 5-0 ,,,,,of course they will wet the bed as soon as league starts. Nice start but a horrible finish. They may have a Leonard Rhodes but come time to play West Covina, South Hills and Rowland, Walnut will curl up that tail between their legs so fast it will be scratching their belly button. They will whimper and pee their pants once league play starts Friday. Rowland at Walnut Friday. Ouch Walnut will get Pun-ed...Time to go get some bed pans the Mustangs are already wetting the bed and it is just Monday.

Dan Author Profile Page said:

I believe BB&G has it right, looks like the play that we sacked the QB and our kid that made the play is just getting up, it stopped a drive.
BB&G I disagree, we had several other moments to cheer about through the night, there were still times in the last few minutes that we were hoping to pull it out, considering how injured we were I think we showed well against your team.

MBFP said:

Its alright Boys that's what they said all of last year and look what happened. Just Believe in yourself, your teammates and your coaches. That's all you need. Michael Ball for President

Miramonte,

I don't really think there is a need, look at all of our teams and you can tell it's a one horse race. Our league is very shallow this year...the second and third place teams will have either below .500 records or at .500 records...first time our league hasn't been on of the strongest in the division as well.

Not to lay down but Bonita and the rest of them...we're all sorry this season, but believe you me when I think our boys can salvage and pull out the season. There's a lot of talent on D Street let's just see them put a game together.

Bleeds Blue and Gold Author Profile Page said:

Oh and the WC player is NOT taking a bow but still in the motion of getting up after making the tackle himself. WC has more class than what you were thinking.

Bleeds Blue and Gold Author Profile Page said:

They sacked our QB JMac, one of few things they had to cheer about that night.

awesome pic of our coaches!

Miramonte prediction? You have to be kidding, predictions for what? Second? Third?
Charter Oak is about three TD's better than the next best team on their worst day. With each playing as well as they could, Diamond Ranch would lose about 45-17. The next best team is really a question, probably Bonita, but the way they call plays, they are liable to lose to anyone, as they did to very average teams like san dimas and claremont. Wilson and Los Altos are both hoping for either a savior or a league downgrade. Frankly, Lou and his minions ought to be ashamed for living so high on the hog at this level for so long. Making it worse of course, is when the are dragged, kicking and screaming, up a level. Simply embarrassing.

r u going 2 do one of these on the miramonte league

What's going on in the picture? said:

Fred does any one remember the context of the shot? There is a Bihop Amat player face down and West Covina players "walking" on teh field while one West Covina player is "bowing" or being congratulated? Then you have one West Covina coach going "airborne" while the other West Covin coach looks like he's either holdin the players back or completely "shooked' at what took place?

Dan...do you remember when his might have happened in the game?

As always Fred great shot!

Maybe you guys should send a couple of "copies" over to West Covina...I'm sure they'd get a kick out of seeing their coach go verticle!

Fred,
Even cooler is the other coaches face! Looks like one of those old school wash cloth holders.
