Saturday Morning Quarterback: Rowland, South Hills win easy; Bishop Amat crushes rival St. Paul

Friday's results
Rowland 27, Walnut 7 -- The Raiders' remain perfect but it was costly. Quarterback Michael Ball left the field in an ambulance, a possible injury to his collarbone. The Raiders' D was mighty impressive again.
South Hills 27, West Covina 6 -- This wasn't even as close as the score indicated. South Hills rushed for 277 team yards with Geoffrey Vaughns going for 167 yards and two TDs. The Bulldogs only had two first downs midway through the fourth.
Bishop Amat 38, St. Paul 6 -- We know this isn't one of the better St. Paul teams but still, the Lancers put them away like a Pac-5 power should.
Arroyo 14, Rosemead 12 -- The Panthers didn't want to give up the Mission Valley league title without a fight, and that's what they gave the Knights, who won't lose an MVL game the rest of the way.
Baldwin Park 28, Covina 7 -- The Braves needed a statement win, and beating the Colts as thoroughly as they did makes a statement.
La Puente 32, Workman 7 -- Did I just type that? A week after the Warriors get hammered by Azusa, they do the hammering against a crosstown rival.
Charter Oak 31, Bonita 0 -- Just what you expected from the defending champs, who for all intents and purposes can wrap up league next week against Diamond Ranch.
Chino Hills 38, Damien 7 -- This was a step-back bigtime. The Spartans should have been able to make a better game of this with two weeks at home to prepare. Guess what, Glendora's next.
Glendora 40, Diamond Bar 19 -- The Tartans rolled, and now can get ready to face Damien at Citrus College on Friday.
Azusa 34, Sierra Vista 13 -- Not a bad showing for the Dons, but once again, the Aztecs just too much.
Los Altos 54, Wilson 17 -- It was only 14-10 Los Altos at half, but the Conqs opened it up in the second half. The game ended with an ugly scene as fans piled onto the field.
Gladstone 40, Duarte 14 -- The Happy Rockers roll over the punchless Falcons.
Gabrielino 21, El Monte 14 -- Somebody had to win, right?
South El Monte 35, Mountain View 6 -- Did we wee the Eagles have a terrible non-league a few years back then rally to win league? Just saying.

The San Antonio League begins in exciting fashion this evening with not just two undefeated teams, but with the top two ranked teams in the Southeast Division squaring off.
Second-ranked Walnut (5-0) hosts top-ranked Rowland (5-0) at 7 p.m., while perennial favorites West Covina (3-3) and fourth-ranked South Hills (3-2) meet at Covina District Field.
"Every one of these games are super critical," O'Shields said.
"What we have done to this point is great, but this is when it all counts."
In terms of numbers, the Raiders have been the most dominant team in the Valley in averaging almost 40 points while limiting opponents to just 14 a game for an average winning margin of just over 25 points.
It might not have come against the toughest opponents, but that's domination as far as O'Shields is concerned.
"It's kind of shocking," O'Shields said. "You hear they lost a lot of players, but they haven't skipped a beat. What they're doing on both sides of the ball is extremely impressive."
Raiders coach Craig Snyder has been cautiously optimistic all along and knows a setback would disrupt the good feelings and confidence they've built to this point.
"I don't know if our ranking is justified," Snyder said. "All it does is put a bull's-eye on your chest. It doesn't get you in the playoffs.
"At the same time, we don't have to prove anything to anyone but ourselves. We're playing well, but so is everyone else."
Both teams also realize the loser likely will have to beat West Covina or South Hills to reach the playoffs. The Bulldogs and Huskies have won or shared every San Antonio League title this decade.
"It's a shame that one of us have to miss the playoffs, but that's how it is," Snyder said. "That's why you don't want to start 0-1 in this league."
Trying to figure a way to contain mobile quarterback Michael Ball is O'Shields' biggest concern.
As a sophomore, Ball led the Raiders to the Southeast semifinals and has picked up where he left off in averaging more than 200 all-purpose yards with seven touchdown passes and four rushing touchdowns.
"He's elusive," O'Shields said of Ball. "He's so quick he hasn't been hit many times. He can drop back and you feel like you've got great coverage, then he takes off and runs. Those guys are hard to defend."
The Mustangs' offense is just as difficult to prepare for.
Quarterback Austin Cooper is completing passes at a 60 percent clip and averaging 188 yards passing while running backs Milan King and Leonard Rhodes combine to average nearly 100 yards on the ground.
Rhodes also has been quite a threat at wideout with a team-leading 20 receptions for 325 yards and four touchdowns.
"They have weapons all over the place," Snyder said.
"That Rhodes is 6-foot-4 and a ton to bring down. He's scary if he catches the ball in open space.
"They're for real, there is no doubt about that."

Have any of you ever seen the HBO Sports show with Bryant Gumbal. The title of one of the stories was the wussification of american kids. It seems like that is what this once prideful rivalary is becoming. I can't believe that there is actual talk about not playing it anymore. I can't imagine what some of you would have written had you been there when they had the toilet paper throwing and the basketball game about 15 years ago, Or when Merril joined DeSpain's staff. Someone put it best when they said all these kids grew up together and are friends. There is nothing like beating your friends and being able to talk trash until the next year. Some of you make it sound like you want to take all the fun out of the rivalry. Can any of you remember a time when someone got hurt? Or when there was a serious fight in the stands during this game? Let's not kill the battle of the Heights, lets our kids enjoy it like we did when we were in school.

I've been in the valley since 1962, and graduated from Rowland High in 1975. This rivalry stuff isn't new. Wilson and Los Altos have always been going back and forth. Wilson used to go up on the hillside and change the LA letters every year. At Rowland, our rivals used to be Nogales (No Gals) High School. I remember once when we came to school and found someone had dumped green paint in the pool. It was Nogales green, or as we called it: garbage pail green. Lots of fights back then. Get back to talking football, not fan reaction.
Rowland Alumni
Just read Felip's article in the tribune. What a joke. He states in the article a few fans came on the field mostly LA, ALL LA. He also states that he didn't really notice what was happening because he was at the 50 yard line waiting for the hand shack. So what he is trying to say is his bench emptied and over two hundred kids ran on the field twice once with about 12 seconds left in the game and yet he says didn't see anything.
O'well one of the parents is bring the article with her to the meeting tonight with Superintendent Dr. Nakaoka. Maybe he can explain to her how his bench is emptied twice in 12 seconds and he saw nothing.
for agreeing that the rivalry needs to end - can we count on your support this week - to get a great divorce?
Other than the students going to the field they didnt do anything else. wilson players are the ones that charged at the LA players. As i recall last year after the game some people from wilson actually tried to steal the wheel after the game yea wats worst students going to the opponents field to celebrate with their players or trying to steal the wheel?????????
Interesting you comments about Schreiman. He is one of Wilson football's biggest supporters. He had made it very clear he didn't want to get involved with the politics. But, due to your comments on this blog he has decided to get involved.
So now let the fun begin.
say all you want - this time we are not backing down anymore
LA Insider: come to the open parents meeting tonight and give me your definition of "few" again - because of the "interest" the meeting has been changed to meet in the stadium tonight
does "few" also mean 45 Wilson teachers on friday telling their students to be careful because of the LA students wanting to cause trouble
I will tell you this - after the Wilson principal finished her comments at the football board meeting last night - the LA principal will have very "few" words to say at their one-on-one meeting
Facts Machine:
FACT: if we succeed in ending the "rivalry" I'll plant flowers around the wheel so you all can look at it for a long time
stay tuned for updates folks - first parents meeting is today at 5 with the school superintendent
FACT: Wilson is scared to play Los Altos next year.
OPINION: The reason they are scared is because of the 54-17 BEAT DOWN they received on the field, not, as they would have us all believe, because of any incident off the field.
FACT: If I was Wilson....I'd be scared too!
Hey "Hey -"get a grip"
FACT- LA 54 Wilson 17!
If things were so bad after the game, why did Wilson and LA still have their traditional "Battle of the Bands" after the game? I mean seriously, if everyone was so afraid for their lives and the administration and parents were in such an uproar, why did they allow it to happen?
Could it be that this is simply a few parents who are stirring up the hornets nest and, in fact, most people involved with this rivalry understand that passions got the best of BOTH teams/coaching staffs/administrations and that everything will be just fine going forward.
Wilson Parents.......TAKE A PILL AND RELAX! You swear that stuff like this didn't go on back in the 70's and 80's with this rivalry. Things were fine back then and will be fine now. Maybe this will make our rivalry a little interesting to folks outside of the Heights. Wouldn't it be nice to have people talk about "The Wheel" like they do about "The Smudgepot"?
FACT: yes there are individual friendships / my son and other LA-wilson players are on that championship rugby team
FACT: the entire LA team before the game stomped and cleated the Wilson logo at the 50 yd line - real friendship
FACT: if everything is just fine - why did the Wilson teachers on Friday tell their students in class that the LA students were going to try to start a fight - did Schreiman cause that???
FACT: you mentioned #5 - two years ago (freshman year) the LA coaches instructed LA teammembers to sprain his ankle since he had a previous injury, his LA friends told him that before the game - on the second play of the game LA succeeded - in full view and on tape of everyone in the stands to see and yes it was very intentional- did Schreiman cause that?
FACT: #7 is his son
FACT: there were a lot of punches thrown in the endzone - did Schreiman cause these?
FACT: port-a-potties were set up on the LA side of the field so there would be no contact between the 2 sides during the game - did Schreiman cause that?
FACT: you give one man way to much credit - if he is that powerful then you need to be his campaign manager and have him run for President of the US - can't get any worse than what we have now
FACT: the facebook and myspace students sites border on real hatred when you read them between the 2 schools
FACT: the parents (and not just football parents but band and others) do not want their student(s) going over to LA next year for a game for safety reasons
FACT: if all of this is just ignored and someone gets seriously hurt some day - you can spell major law suit for the district
FACT: Schreiman has actually been very neutral with his vote thus far about ending the rivarly - it is the other parents
OPINION: the rivalry needs at least a 3 or 4 year break
OPINION: individual friendships will continue
To dear seriously,
You are clueless about this LA Wilson rivalry and the HH community! For the last seven years I have been involved with youth sports in HH. I know for a fact that the rivalry exist between the two schools but it's nothing more than that. These kids have all known each other for years...they currently play on the same teams and go to each others parties. A few weeks back I dropped off my daughter at a friends house full of LA and Wilson kids. I even talked to your #5 and #7 players.
The problem I see hear is this blog and in particular one bloger-schreimen. Three days ago I had dinner with some LA and Wilson parents, they ask me if we can take schreimen back! We all laught as said keep him! I know you know him well. He is the cancer and the germ. For years he has gone around destroying kids sports programs and creating problems. This rivalry has existed for years with minimal problems until he came along. Do what you have to do in your meeting. The kids will continue to play sports together and be friends.
If you think all of this is only about one game you know nothing at all of the situation - it is much much much much deeper - and has many years of history
- a real friendly rivarly is great - this has gone far beyond that and even threatens safety of students - it is a cancer that needs to be stopped - we have had it, Friday - the fist fighting in the endzone, the 40 of us teammembers against LA 55 team members and 200 students on the field only tells some of the story.
This has become a disease - if you dont believe me go to some of the students and read their facebook and myspace sites - there is real hatred,
my son is a starter for Wilson and has competed on a national level in one sport and on a world level in another sport - so we're not just turning chicken and whining - the reality is -
we dont want to go there next year and win it back - we dont want to go there at all, we dont have any interest in playing Los Altos - we are very glad that we will not be playing that school and their continual antics, policies , what they teach their athletes, their recruiting problems, etc. because of the new alignment -
they go their way - we go our way // this last Friday was only the last straw - the catalyst to where we are now - we are determined to stop it
and if you dont beieve me come to the parent meeting and see if it is not near unanimous - we're sick of LA and the way they are and have been for many years - the best way to get rid of a germ - is to wash clean
and quite frankly - we could care less what you or anyone else thinks about it - if that bothers you - then stop reading about Wilson sports and follow others
Have any of you bloggers ever seen a team more bitter than Wilson?
You lost Wildcats. Deal with it and move on. Get better and beat LA on their field next year. Problem solved.
You guys should be embarrassed of the way you're acting.
Funny you bring up the TO incident. The same thing happened at the beginning of the LA/Wilson game. The LA team ran on the field, when they got to the 50 yard line they charged the Wilson players, then stopped at the Wilson Logo and started stopping on the logo.
Were kids hurt, not sure. Were punches thrown, yes lots of them. Most of the LA kids started running the other way when they saw what they were running into. I saw one kid get laid out.
Before the game ended LA had requested for Wilson to keep the score up on the score board so the team could take picture with the wheel with the scoreboard as the background. The Wilson administration being good sports agreed. After the incident the Wilson administration decided that LA needed to get on their bus and leave.
I don't understand why the Los Altos delirious fans don't get it. It is Wilson's field. You do not rush the field at their homegame. If you were the home team then you have every right to do it but not on your opponents field. Do you remmeber when bonehead T.O. tried to disrespect the star at cowboy stadium? You do not do that and the Los Altos adminitration or security was way out of line in allowing student to rush to the field, not once but two times in the last minute....
Fred J,
Seems there is a pretty good story looming in this Wilson - LA incident on Friday. A lot of he said, she said ,I heard , they said, going on the blog. Maybe you or Steve should try to get to the bottom of this and get the real story out. Now it is being said Felipe is out . Will you be going to this booster meeting or school board meeting if they are open to the public .
Ok Wilson parents and fans...Help me out here. I was at the game and witnessed tons of happy LA kids running out into the field. What crime was committed? Was this a violation of the rules? Did anyone get hurt? Was anything destroyed? Please help me understand what the big deal is!
Thanks!
Not Sure??
I think you are right about CO. But the truth of the matter is that Football runs the show in high school sports.
SGV430 Ouuut!
LA administration is now actively looking for a new head coach. This has come from a source within LA. Felipe is gone at the end of the year.
There will be an open meeting for all Wilson parents led by the Football Boosters on Wed night at the gym at 7 pm to plan for their presentation before the HLPUSD school board on Thursday night concerning LA // on the agenda is a vote to either continue or cancel the rivalry due to safety concerns of the students and team playing at LA next year -
if you don't show up - don't complain about the results
To Wilson Parent/Schreiman...you are a very bitter little man..oh and regardless if LA wins or loses against South Hills, Charter Oak or whatever, the fact is we beat Wilson down..ACCEPT IT!!!!
No cover up.,
Just like a typical LA Coach to lie in an attempt to sway public opinion, here is the non-doctored comment from "Tribskin Pick'em, your predictions and our";

LA Fan,
All I am saying is the weakest team left on our schedule is LA, I don't thnk anyone is going to question that. I haven't been watching you guys much, I personally thought the key to the game was going to be stoping Zamono. I saw him at the Wilson game last year and he looked great. But, I am being told by LA players that he is terrible.
Now you start talking about the freshmen and JV team, who cares?
Just for the record the for the first times in decades Wilson has a much bigger squad in size and numbers than LA. A very important message from the community.
The future of LA and Wilson program; next year LA is in the Miramonte. As stated earlier, they have zero chance of competing. Wilson will be in the Montview League, lets say that is a very good fit they are going to be competing.
The two programs seam to be going in totally different directions, I think we both know what ship the kids are jumping on.

Fred this guy should be banned from the blog if he is going to be doctoring up comments like this.
We all wounder why LA is where they are today. They only know one way to get a head,

Wilson Parent...Schreimen you are back.
It took you a while! How is your quarterback doing? After awhile it was painful even for me to watch! By the way, did you guys figure out the paper work for your Senior running back? Hope it all works out...your team sure can use the help! Good to see you are up and around. By the way...Who do you think wrote this?

Tuff crowd..
"was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?" Movie quote. Animal House anybody? No? I here crickets. Wow...has it been that long. Great movie. Kids...watch it with a parent.
My bad....no more movie quotes from the 70's.

"Wilson fans have been all over this blog claiming that the Wilson team was going to beat down on Los Altos."
Do you guys at LA really believe all this crap that is coming out of your mouths. I didn't read one post where a Wilson fan talked about a beat down on Los Altos. It has been the total oposite of your comment. Why do you think so many bloggers HATE LA bloggers, all you do is come on this blog and talk a bunch of crap about the next team your are playing.
Let's see how much crap you talk about your last three games. What South Hills, Charter Oak, Diamond Ranch. In the old days you could give them a run. No chanced ......
Have fun ........
JOE,
Kinda hard not to ask personal questions, when dealing with a person.
FYI, I have no problem reading, if I could not read it would be your problem, since you were one of my teachers! LOL
Go Tartans,
Read it again. No whining at all. Find a complaint or even an ounce of anywhere. Some guy posted as "Hardship?" a few days back and mentioned 3 or 4 things that have NO bearing on the process. (which I know far too well thank you) Some of those things involved Who's driving him to school, how many schools are between Glendora and Amat, etc. Not pertinent and only reflecting a personal feeling that "Hardship?" had with the situation.
Obviously, as I said from the start. there are several things that ARE important, such as what has been documented, and how those are presented from both sides would determine the result. Which they did. And respect their decision. ENTIRELY and without bias. Is that clear enough?
Here's what you can do - find instances of "whining or complaining from anyone... balanced against gloating from the other side. Then we'll see where everyone stands on a 16-17yr old kid. Good luck to him... I hope he turns things around. Do you?
BABY BLUUURRR NUTTER?
YOUR STORY WAS LEGIT, UNTIL THE ENDING PART. GERMANY ATTACKS PEARL HARBOR??? HOMER, JAPAN ATTACKED PEARL HARBOR!
WALNUTS DESTINE TO LOSE...
Whinning Joey
You just don't know the "hardship process" or the investigative process.
Personal feelings, now that's a long shot! How about rules and the process in which the questions were asked over here at the school.
Hardship, you called it!
Amazing....it's like clock work. When things are going good.....the skill players take all the credit......when things go bad...BLAME THE OFFENSIVE LINE. Love it...little Johnny aint runnin for 200 yrds a game....because the O-line can't block. BOOOOO...BOOO...Doctor in the House....BOOO. That has to be the most tired excuse.
Let me help you guys out.
King is averaging over 6 yards a carry. I know the Walnut Insider thinks the O-Line has nothing to do with that....but, I'm pretty sure you don't get yards without some sustainded blocks....but that is just my limited football knowledge. Barry Sanders is the exception.
Notice I said sustained. Giving the line an opportunity to sustain blocks? Good idea..bad idea? What do I know...just a random blogger.
The D-Line gets penetration...simply needs to work on wrapping. Hasn't given up the big pass play. D is good..too much time on the field.
No I don't play on the line nor do I have a son that plays on the line.
I don't think the offensive scheme has worked....in any game. Walnut has plenty of physical talent which makes up for that lack of offense...i.e....special teams play....jump balls. Rowland exposed that by not allowing any kind of special teams play.
Penalties..penalties...
Stop being tacky and calling out players by name....and stop dragging the rest of the team under the bus in defense of your favorite player. That's WEAK...WEAK...WEEEAAAKK.
Tighten it up Walnut...tighten it up. Next week makes or breaks the season...for Walnut and WesCo. Better come to play....stop making excuses.
Oh yea....and it aint over....was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?
In most logical peoples opinion the Eagles are one of the elite teams in the NF and have been for quite some time... in spite of not winning a championship since the days of Norm Van Brocklin... and just losing to the Raiders. Just as Penn State is an elite NCAA D1 football team in spite of not winning a National Championship since 1986. And yet during all that time, no one from Mount Union - with their 10 DIII championships since then, is clamoring for equal status to Penn State... because they won a "big game". I'm certain that Penn State playing before 100,000 plus in every home game might be considered "big" for them. I'm betting the Mount Union kids would love a crack at that. This year I don't think that Montana, Richmond, Butler, or Colgate are wondering why they aren't mentioned in the same breath as other 6-0 teams like Florida, Alabama, and Texas. After all, Iowa, TCU, and Cincinnati are having a tough enough time... because their schedule just doesn't match up. And surely they all must be better than USC - because after all... they're undefeated. It has nothing to do with the *level* of play now... does it? But, really, is the NFL and NCAA "in context"? Wondering...since you brought it up. And I guess to have a big win once in a while you've gotta playa game that qualifies first. Which win was the "biggest one" for you?
However, I'm most disappointed that we won't get to hear your answers to the questions posed below. They're not too threatening... are they? But, quite possibly, it's because the real truth is in those answers.
HEY JOE,
Yes you obviously were reading it wrong. Here is is ... so try again. I've even *asterisked* some important points for you.
"Please find once when I said the appeal should or would be approved. From the day the papers were filed I said it was an *uphill battle* and the *CIF would make the right decision*.
What I did say was that *"Hardship dude"* had several questions that are *entirely irrelevant to the facts* that the Commissioner looks at, but were ***strictly personal feelings "Hardship dude" had*** for Gonzalez and/or his dad. And THAT is still true."
So if you read it slow... or have someone read it slowly to you.. you see it is "Hardship dude" that had several questions that were strictly a result of his personal feelings.
Hop I cleared that up for you.
Hundreds of people witnessed LA crushing Wilson on Friday night...and we also witnessed excited kids running out into the field. No one is saying it did not happen. Post all the videos you want...no one is denying that it did not happen. Now, let me ask...What Laws, rules or policies were brocken? Did anyone get killed, or hurt? Wilson fans have been all over this blog claiming that the Wilson team was going to beat down on Los Altos. After the game, kids were excited as a result of the build up...what's the big deal?
There has been a mention of a Los Altos-Wilson after-game video. No cover-up here folks, if there is video of what happened afterward, send it to me and I will post it.
yes jcaz, only being my second time on here, there are a lot of fireworks tonight.
Yes, we did get blown out and I'm sure the kids didn't take that lightly, nor the parents or fans, but we just need to move on. We did lose, and we just need to put it behind us. I just think that they shouldn't have been let onto the field, especially on a road game. You don't almost EVER see that in college football, where the road school goes on the field if there is an upset. To me, it's just how it was handled, which was poor.
Some people seem to be forgetting that the game was already over and they were just playing out the game. I didn't like the fact that it seemed like LA was trying to rub it in. It became more evident at the end when that kid ran back the kickoff for a TD on the last play.
Some of us may be complaining, but we have the right to I believe. =D
As it goes for me, I'm just sharing what I saw on Friday night and how disappointed I was with the result and all the activity that happened after the game.
And I would really like to see a link or two about all the uprisings at Wilson if that is possible?

Has anybody seen "Couples Retreat"? Besides me and JCaz??? That was pretty damn funny, it wasn't as good as the The Hangover, but it hit home....oh wait this isnt the Sunday Tribbin' thread is it?? Ok back on track...SGV football is the bomb, you are correct....but they play some smashmouth football just over the hill off of Harbor Bl, and when was the last time anybody besides Amat fans took in a Trinity league game, thats always a great hit.........I think that final shakedown meeting at CIF takes place this week, so we shall see how it pans out....Anything is better than what DB has now, so f*ck it---lets get it on!
I was just watching some highlights on the MLB channel of the '77, '78 and '81 world series and my first thougth was, I want my kids to hear Vin Scully broadcast a Dodger-Yankee World Series, so they can say they heard the best, at his best! Tell me that doesnt give you the goose bumps!
Amat Joe,
Am I reading this right? Are you calling CIF biased? This was personal? WOW!!!
At first you were about privacy, now your divulge info like this, I guess your not happy with this ruling. APPEAL,APPEAL,APPEAL or Fred may run out of material!

Is it really right for CO to be moving to the Sierra with only 1900+? What about the other sports CO doesn't compete very well in. They will have serious problems with other sports.
Man, there seems to be allot of fireworks out there tonight.
Hey COChargerfan, I’m neither agreeing no disagreeing with both of you guys, but to tell you the truth, I do see where Joe is coming from.
If you really want to end this, and if you really want to start anew, and….. if you truly mean what you say, then leave it at that.
There’s no need for you to say that you want peace, and in the same breath, take a cheap shot a Joe on the way out.
Be the bigger man, and leave it on the table.
In other words, just walk away, let it go and just start talking about football. Leave all the personal stuff to that 15 year old kid who always busting my chops in here ok.
Found this on 1a my buddies' MySpace. A ton of outright goofy predictions and still finished with a 24-7 record.

Randy good to hear that we've been around for so long. My DB comment had nothing to do with CIF divisions. I know DB would have to see those IE teams in the playoffs. Which is brutal. I was just commenting on the league. I was just talking about league play. I think WC and Rowland will be are as tough as anyone in the Sierra League. Notice I didn't say anything about South Hills. THat's because they are not going to be in that league. They will more than likely be in the Sierra League. As for Dranch going into the Sierra League that's not going to happen either. Dranch doesn't have the enrollment to be able to compete in that league long term. Most of the Sierra League schools have enrollments of about 2,900 or more students. Dranch has about 2,000. The other factor in this whole releaguing deal is some schools don't want other schools in their league. South Hills, for all their chest beating wants no part of being in the same league with CO. The San Antonio/Miramonte schools don't want either of them in their league. Neither of them want to be in the Sierra but their only other alternative is the Baseline League and they really want no part of that.
So Randy I think that it will be a great league next year, But DB better come in prepared for a battle every game. Walnut looked good during the pre season. They put the Rowland QB out in the first quarter and still lost badly and will need to bring their A plus game the rest of the way to make the play-offs. SGV football is great to watch isn't it.
SGV430 Ouuut!
Just the Truth...
You should stop drinking before the game.
Get a copy of the film and watch it.
The JV team was in during the entire WC possession when they scored.
As hard as WC tried, they couldn't score on our starting defense.
Huskies in da hous!
#1 Nutless Fan,
What good is switching quarterbacks when Cooper is running for his life most of the time. And as far as Rhodes and Coleman go; it's not their fault that they're stuck running the wrong routes. When a qb doesn't have the time to let the play develop, those guys should be coming across the middle, not down the sidelines. If I didn't know any better, I might mistake you for part of the cancer that's growing on this team. Careful now, you wouldn't want to expose yourself...nutless fan!
And another Amat fact fabricator enters the fray like wolves on a carcass. Hey "I am so proud to be a Lancer" when have I ever attacked a CO player, the coaches or the team? I have said that the coaches play a very conservative brand of run first football, which not only is true but others have made the same comments. I have also said that they need to do a better job of controlling the ends of the line, another general football observation that is true. So exactly how are these comments a negative attack on a specific kid, the coaches or team? Just more Amat fiction. And you should have your memory checked because Amat has let coaches go so everything in Amat-ville isn’t always a love fest. Thanks for the compliments though...now I can add a lack of “character, heart, and toughness” to being a fool, idiot and moron. You do realize that attacking other people’s character is a serious character flaw (see NPD), don’t you…apparently not. Just wondering if you can also read minds along with your ability to determine a person’s “character, heart, and toughness” from reading a few words…in the words of the great John McEnroe, you must be joking. Here’s another idea, you should talk to your Amat family members about not saying anything if they don’t have anything nice to say because if you were paying attention you’d see the name calling (i.e. not nice) is one sided…and it isn’t coming from me. Thanks for your concern about me doing my homework, unfortunately, other than a few minor mistakes (see Barkley as POY and mistakenly typing league instead of division…Joey knows what “D” means), all the quotes, scores and sundry information is true and correct…go to MaxPreps and do your own homework and you will get the same scores and be able to read the same info that I do. Apparently you are also not reading that my “rants” are actually two-way discussions with members of your family…so I’m not the only one ranting but, instead, I’m just the side that is not saying what you want to hear, isn’t that true? The big word for that Joey is “censorship”…and that isn’t something to be “proud” of, is it? Which is why Fred J. let’s us all say our peace.
Joey, I just don’t want to play anymore…has nothing to do with conceding or who is right or wrong…the scores of the lower “D” teams vs. the Pac-5 this year speak for themselves. And, you like to compare Amat to the current versions of Mater Dei and Servite but Amat hasn’t even played these teams for a few years…have you? And Amat’s last football title was FIFTEEN very, very, very long years ago…can’t escape that cold, dark reality by hanging on to a big win once and a while…remember the Steelers are the Super Bowl champs and the teams that beat them during league play…the Eagles, Giants, Colts and Titans are losers. Checkmate pal.
Joe
This time you are dead wrong! This case had major holes in it, and the "hardship" questions were asked at Glendora. I guess maybe the "hardship dude" knew something a little bit more than us!
I just wanted to comment on the South Hills & West Covina game...things are going to happen when kids on both sides of the ball hit hard and at times take cheap shots...it's Football..it's Physical...not Dancing With The Stars...now I give WC alot of credit..they tried hard..they scored with our starters in there..not JV as one of the blogs stated earlier..the Coach doesn't usually sub anyone in and only uses there starters unless they're extremely ahead in the game..now as far as strategy on beating us as some other blogger stated...you can try and give all the advice you want..shut down the passing game and all that...pretty lame! They ran all over WC with a backup running back whos actually a receiver...you need to come with all of your guns loaded if you want to beat South Hills...not just loaded BB guns...Good Luck Huskies on the rest of the season...and good luck to the rest of the teams in the San Antonio League...because you're really going to need it..Go Husskies!
... and Blowhard,
Please find once when I said the appeal should or would be approved. From the day the papers were filed I said it was an uphill battle and the CIF would make the right decision.
What I did say was that "Hardship dude" had several questions that are entirely irrelevant to the facts that the Commissioner looks at, but were strictly personal feelings "Hardship dude" had for Gonzalez and/or his dad. And THAT is still true.
COChargerfan,
My comments were directed to jcaz.. not you... don't be so sensitive. Isn't that how it works?
You write,
"...yes I did make a mistake and the Pac-5 is a DIVISION...I should proof read before I hit submit...."
When it happens ONCE in the middle of a sentence.... then you need to proofread before you submit. When you write a sentence like this:
"Joey, the Pac-5 is a LEAGUE, not a DIVISION and let’s not get off track ..."
then that is just misinformed and formulating a poor argument. You knew exactly what you were writing, because later you also wrote,
"No one is arguing that the Pac-5 is not a stronger LEAGUE than many others in the SGV/IE, including the Miramonte, but this has nothing to do with how an individual team in a league within a division is ranked."
and on another post you wrote,
"...Here it is in baby terms so you can understand…the Pac-5 is a LEAGUE that consists of 29 teams..."
That is not just proofreading that was needed and makes it tough to backtrack now. But that's what you did starting with Kasdorf/Barkley, Gardena/D1, #s of D1 athletes, Teachers/Baseball coaches, and various times throughout our little exchange.
That is what the issue has been from the get go. A little bit of incorrect and misrepresentation of facts, but more the "reading between the lines", "translations", and "obvious intended meanings" as you tried to put words on others keyboards. It hasn't been "about football facts" and "cheering for teams in the SGV"... it's about personal feelings and your mission to represent the valley against the "evil empire". Unfortunately you were largely alone. I thin kyou just picked a bad time. A couple of years ago you may have gotten more support, but we've made some ... "adjustments" since then. So FWIW, here's some advice... Take what is written for what it says. CO is a great D7 program. Amat is a good D1 program fighting to get back on top. Anyone on Amat's schedule could beat them. The Pac5, by ALL intelligent accounts Nationwide is one of the toughest DIVISIONS in the nation. That makes it a far, far, far superior *level* of play. No offense intended.
Sorry if we hurt your feelings, but the bottom line is you kind of open yourself up to those attacks when you wrote things about yourself such as, "having a higher moral filter" than others and being a "white college educated male not some affirmative action product"... and "my kid is an IB/AP student who is a two-sport athlete." So bloggers go after that... along with incorrect or misrepresentation of the facts. Add that to your own "attacks on others" NPD group photo, narcissitic, arrogant, etc) and one could see why it goes south.
But before you go, I really am interested in your answers to some questions I posed. I'm going to take the stance that they got lost in an old post - not that you were "picking and choosing" See... kinder an gentler.
You said your son was an AP/IB student. Why? Why would you have him take a "more challenging" schedule?
Would he be just as well off if he took a "basic" schedule and got a higher GPA?
Would that "basic" schedule prepare him for the next level as well as his AP/IB courses?
Is he "challenged" by the competition in his AP/IB courses on a daily basis more than he might be if he took that "basic" schedule you speak of?
Does he work harder and more seriously, knowing that at the end of the day he must take the AP tests and compete with students of that caliber on a national basis?
Since, as you said, as long as GPAs/SATs are equal, he is eligible for the EXACT SAME colleges as the next kid, isn't it to his advantage to take an easier course of study.
When all things are equal, what do YOU think college admissions officers use to break those ties?
Consider it another "public service.
So of course I don't expect you to " tip over your King and concede" by saying you agree - which is why I always like to play until it's "checkmate". No mulligans-no gimmes. We've played this game before with plenty of others. Some see the light. For others... it's the oncoming train. It's been fun.
WORKMAN, LA PUENTE, LOS ALTOS, WILSON, WALNUT. Can we please stop all the whining and bickering and crying and bitching, and ...
YOU PEOPLE SOUND RIDICULOUS, MAN GROW A SET OF B*LLS AND QUIT YOUR FREAKING BELLY ACHING! You all sound weak, crabby like an old woman. Is this all SGV FOOTBALL KNOWS HOW TO DO IS, (PLEASE SEE THE BEGINING)!
How about talking about who played well and who did some spectacular plays, instead of this OTHER CRAP... GROW UP ALREADY, oh I forgot this is high school football!
Walnut Insider and SGV for thirty.
Facemasking penalties are indeed part of the game. Just as hard hits, injuries, etc. But grabbing a facemask is different from grabbing, holding on to, yanking back, and ending up with the guy's helmet in your hands. And then doing the same thing less than five plays later... there is a difference and I would hope you'd see that.
I know nothing about the Walnut team other than what I saw on Friday. But the fact your coach let #88 back on the field after walking off and quiting on the team on a fouth down... leads me to believe he also wouldn't care about the dirty plays made earlier either.
THE WORD IS OUT ON SO.HILLS;
DAM DUDE, HOW ARE THE COACHES GOING TO TAKE YOUR ADVISE, WHEN THEY CAN'T EVEN FIGURE OUT (WHAT TH HELL YOUR SAYING)??? SERIOUSLY, PROOF READ YOUR NEXT COMMENT, BECAUSE THAT'S HARD ON THE EYES. WOW, TAKE AN ADULT EDUCATION AT NIGHT! PLEASE...
Bullbog- said one said the 200 LA students had pitch forks, torches, and clubs when they ran onto the field
not 1 student had any business being on the opposing teams field during the game - you seem to miss that point - try as you may to sugar coat it all
the Wilson students are more angry at LA admin - because of the 2nd time - security got the fans off of the field once and back behind the closed gates - then the fans rushed it again after the game
the wilson students see it as a deliberate 'in your face' act by the LA school officials, coaches, and students - just read for yourself on their myspace sites
You WILSON FANS are incredible! What do you want FRED to do? and you already know Fred doesn't like controversy! Do really think all your complaining is going to change the score.
Deal with it, you got spanked and all your crying isn't going to change a THING! THAT'S FOOTBALL and running on the field is what people do when they get excited. I mean can you blame LA, THEY WERE JUST SO HAPPY TO WIN!!!
WILSON NEXT YEAR YOU'LL GET YOUR CHANCE WHEN YOU PLAY AT LA, AND THEN YOU CAN PISS ALL OVER THERE STADIUM! NOW DOES THAT MAKE YOU FEEL BETTER!
Bulldog Fan,
Just to make it clear it was not a coach that I spoke with, but it was someone affilliated with the program and who saw it on film and he said it wasn't malicious.
Dear Hts Parent - u will have to go to the Wilson students sites on facebook and myspace and IM for your info - Fred is not allowing any blogs that have real info
the IM's right now have a Wilson grad at APU who has knowledge of the video of the fans on the field and her's was not posted - you will have to get the info strtaight form the students
hey fred - all Wilson students know you are covering up
you didnt post my last one yesterday what about today's
from guna
JOE
NICE HARDSHIP CASE! LOL. JUST STFU, YOU TALK OUT OF BOTH SIDES OF YOUR MOUTH MORE THAN ANYBODY ON THIS BLOG.
'HARDSHIP' CHEWED YOU UP ON THE RULES AND KNOWING WHAT WAS GOIN DOWN... LMFAO
NOW THE CO GUY JUST PUT IT BACK IN YOUR FACE! JOE BLOWS AGAIN AND AGAIN...
GUES WHAT.. BO KNOWS !
Holy Cow "Another Damien Dad"....I hope Ryne Morrison has forgotten more football than me....his team's record is pathetic!!! I would want to forget too!!! As for me, I remember winning games and league champion patches!!! It is very apparent that the 2010 class won't have these memories.
COChargerfan,
At least us Amat fans are loyal and NEVER criticize our own coaches and players. I read more than several times where you "go after" coaches and players in your own program that for every intent and purpose I will admit have had more success than we even had in the last almost a decade. The difference is we have character, heart, and toughness much of which you lack I can tell from your posts. When was the last time you complimented anyone in your program or any other program for that matter. Bottom line is I imagine you do not matter to your own program because anyone with half a brain can tell your about yourself and not your school, coaches, or players or wait I take that back probably your son but I do envision you attacking him too on a Friday night after he's probably played an outstanding game but you my friend probably focus only on the negative. Us Amat loyalists bleed true blue and gold and actually like ourselves, each other, and our coaches and players. Learn a lesson what do they say if you have nothing nice to say then say nothing at all and by the way do your darn homework because half of what you say just isn't right! Now I feel better, I've just been so sick and tired of your rants and feel sorry for the real C.O. fans and of course the best fans in the Valley BISHOP AMAT BABY! The ONLY undefeated TEAM in the Valley!
Fred,
The Wilson family is calling it a LA Cover up. Why are you not allowing the video of the event that shows all what really happened.
As I typed my let's call a truce comments, now I see that Joey was preparing another twisted personal blast...yes I did make a mistake and the Pac-5 is a DIVISION...I should proof read before I hit submit. But Joey the NPD sufferer turns what he knows is a mistake into an attack of my intelligence...you may need to see a shrink Joey after all. Other than Mike the Clone (of what...a sheep?), I think the rest of the readers are tired of our exchange so I'll let you have your twisted last word but don’t mistake this as meaning that I agree. And Joey, duh Newport Harbor is a Pac-5 team which is why I referenced their loss against D3 Mira Costa...so Mira Costa beat Newport Harbor who in turn beat the Pac-5 team Los Alamitos...using the Amat transition property, the D3 team Mira Costa is superior to Los Alamitos, so that's like another lower "D" victory...do you now get the point Joey? Too busy twisting my words together for your sheep that you can’t see the obvious, can you? So, what about all those lower “D” wins THIS YEAR against the Pac-5…doesn’t support your far, far, far superior division position, does it? But, you don’t want to talk about this, do you? And, instead would rather twist words into a personal attack? So jcaz, is it really me stirring the pot or Joey?
To THE WORD IS OUT
"WANT TO STOP S. HILLS VERY SIMPLE STOP THE PASS".
What pass. Shirley was a pathetic 3 of 9, all screens. Half his runs were on pass plays. Like I said #6 and #7 cant read a defence, run for my life first pass second. No nads to stand in the pocket and take a hit.
jcaz, we are certainly all human which accounts for my condescending tone towards the bloggers that feel compelled to include personal attacks along the line of fool, idiot, moron, etc. I have no intention of hurting anyone else which is why I make every attempt to stick to the discussion and not attack the person that's making it...can the same be said of the people that call me names or the Amat bloggers that constantly take shots at kh's intelligence? People that are paying attention know why Amat honk levels attacks at kh even when what he says has absolutely nothing to do with Amat...it is because he has also made previous comments about Amat's superiority claims....especially on the baseball side. See, I've been reading this blog for two years so I do know the score. As I knew that my challenge of some of the Amat statements would place a bulls-eye on my back…but I accepted that challenge to initially make a point that this blog should be about the SGV cheering for one another and football information and not about petty jealousy as to who’s number one, who’s smarter or dumber, whether the private or public education system is superior, etc. You are 100% correct that it has gotten way out of hand. I’d love to stop…can the Amat family do the same?
RACK'EM
Nice job Joe Amat!
I AM OUT!
Mike the Clone
jcaz,
Remember... If COChargerfan is "responding" to someone else - that's OK.. but if someone from Amat does their "taking pot shots"
If he's doing it it's a "public service"... if it's someone from Amat they're "running their mouth"
If he belittles someone it is "only an example"... if anyone else does it's a "claim of superiority"
When he continues to avoid the difference between far, far, far, superior *level* and tries to turn it into far, far, far superior *team* he's restating the "obvious intent" ... but everyone else has a "myopic focus"
When he continues to make foolish mistakes and statements like" Here it is in baby terms so you can understand…the Pac-5 is a LEAGUE that consists of 29 teams" (what LEAGUE has 29 teams?) he'll pass it off with something like "having no direct knowledge" or "Someone told him".... but if someone else says something he doesn't agree with they're met with " that's your mistake, not mine"
If he "praises" someone with a backhanded compliment it's fine... but somehow other bloggers "praises" are translated into what COChargerfan wants to perceive.
When he "picks and chooses" the topics he wants to address and continually ignores the statement written often, "Amat could lose to any team on their schedule" he can continue to argue based on an entirely different premise... but others "aren't listening to anything he says"
When he takes the very bottom teams of the Pac5 and calls them "very average teams " then compares them to the best teams of lower divisions - he thinks that proves some point... but others "don't understand statistics"
When he gets his panties in a bunch he's just defending others... but anyone else is being "overly sensitive"
When he's the lone wolf in the battle we get, "You like too many others can’t see the big picture that I’m painting, your problem not mine.""... but everyone else, regardless of affiliation is an "Amat Honk"
So, jcaz... just wanted to remind you where COChargerfan is coming from
and BTW... next time you talk to him, remind him again that Pac5 is a DIVISION... not a LEAGUE... he seems to have an ongoing problem understanding the difference. (and Newport Harbor is in the Pac5 that game vs Los Al was a Sunset league game... FYI)
Not only did he not cause the fumble that lead to a score, but fumbled the ball that caused a turn over. Lots of talent but not that great (yet) may be later.
you pussycats keep whining. We;ll just keep winning. You can say what you like, it;s not gonna change the scoreboard, and it sure ain;t gonna change your reputation of a losing school. Oh sorry, you guys got badminton. How beasty. ahaa.
COChargerfan
Like I told you before, surprisingly enough, there are many things that you put out there on this blog that I could agree with you on. However, it isn’t so much the “context” of what it is that you say, but rather it’s on the approach that you have chosen to take, with respect to how you say it.
Look, you and anyone else can come in here and say that Amat sucks, and you can come in here and say that you believe that Charter Oak is a far better team than Amat, but don’t be surprised if someone takes you to task on that. Also, when you say stuff that has no bearing on what happens on the field of play, are you surprised that so many people think you’ve gone off the deep end ?
Hey COChargerfan, believe it or not, I root for these local teams if only because many or my friends have kids who not only attend those schools, but also play on their teams. In fact, if you took a moment to read what I wrote on the St Paul thread, you might even be very surprised to learn that I have a soft spot for allot of our rivals even including the St Paul swoardsmen. In fact, I can tell you right now that in my heart, I really don’t “hate” the Slime as much as I should nor as much as many of my fellow Lancers do, but just between you and me, please do me a favor and don’t tell 73 or Joe what I just said ok.
But I digress….
COChargerfan I will admit to you that every now an then I get a wild hair up there and respond to some of these comments in a less than “Christian” way (ha ha ha), but hey, everyones human right ? Besides, getting folks all riled up every now and then is actually a lot of fun.
Take the last time I tried to get the folks worked up over that “fire and passion” post or the time I bated that fool with the “bathroom urinal” post. That was really funny. But even with all of that, I do have my limits, and maybe that’s the big difference between you and I here in that no matter what I may say about another school, in the end, I don’t really mean half the stuff I put out there nor do I intentionally try to hurt someone by insulting their religion or their race or the community that they live in.
There’s a difference here you know. Perhaps you should consider that next time you post.
SGV for 30?---i been here just as long you homey......lets get this straight,I dont think DB is gonna roll up the San Antonio league, especially with South HIlls and DRanch in league, but it is drop down from the Sierra league, and there is no way your gonna comapre the Southeast Division to the Death Sentence of the Inland Division that DB had to look forward to IF they ever grabbed 3rd place or the at-large. Its a drop down, and look up DB's non-league record during this 5 yerar pitfall, ...its almost .500, compare to the 3 or 4 wins they have in Sierra league play during that same time frame. Besides, we never had HUGE problems with Rowland or Walnut (4-1 in our last 5 against them), we'll be much better off in the San Antonio league.
The big winner in this new shake up is DRanch. How in the hell did they stay behind and not move up the Sierra league. They have proven to more than hang with Sierra league team in non-league play over the past 5 years going 4-5 but losing 3 of those games by a total of 6 pts. THEY SHOULD HAVE GONE UP BUT YOU DONT HEAR ONE DRANCH BLOGGER ON HERE SAYING THAT. First they got moved into the Southeast Div for playoffs instead of the OC filled Southwest. Now they get slipped into this new San Ant/Miramte league. They keep getting one kiss after another from CIF. However, that CIF champion banner is alittle more elusive than DR Nation first thought. One rumor I have heard is that the Sierra league may be moved into the Southeast Div for playoff groupings(Sierra league teams cant compete in either the Inland or Central Div---the record shows for itself, none of them have made it to the semis or just go ask Glendora and Damien honks yourself). Unless that happens in this new configuration well then DR and SH should make a few runs at that Championship game. The word is the ALmont or Pacific league will get the boot making room for the Sierra League. That would be sweet.......so heres to looking forward to brighter futures, for all of us.....good talking football with ya.....
Dan,
Thought I would never do this and defend the Huskies, but I was at the game on Fri vs South Hills and I have to say, that play you guys are talking about was a cheap shot at #3 by our player.
My sons played at WC for a number of years and we all sat there and felt right when it happened that it was a cheap shot, even my sons said "dad, that was cheap"
Sorry to have to put my spin on it but asking a WC coach is a biased person. Do you honestly think he is going to say is was a cheap shot, of course not.
Sorry to the young man over at SH and on behalf of us over here in Bulldog country, we hope you recover soon.
Best Wishes
ITS NOT OVER! LOVE THAT CHANT!
How the record coming Gano?
another damien dad said:
At what level 3000 yards? And who kept the stat?
Yeah right, James G is the man! LOL
just wanted to clear something up it was jordan wall that caused the fumble for a touchdown in the Amat st. paul game not rio ruiz
Jcaz, apparently you missed that my comments were in response to the pot shot that “just sayin” took at me on 10/16. If he weren’t always running off his mouth, I’d just sit quietly and read what the people have to say but if he always feels compelled to personally call me out, then I will oblige him with a response. Aren’t you going to man-up and respond if someone calls you out?
Whether CO wins or loses doesn’t affect my life one way or the other…I’ve said before that I watch for entertainment and for a common thread with my kid and when he graduates I’ll probably never see another game, same as I never go back to watch my alma mater Monrovia play. To each their own but for me there are more important and interesting things about life than hanging on to one’s high school “glory days.”
And, I did not belittle Mr. Price and, instead, simply used him as an example of the more physically mature football player…and I only used it because I’m assuming that just sayin’ saw the newspaper photo of the straight arm that Mr. Barner laid on him. It was our a local newspapers that made the decision to print a photo of Mr. Price being “posterized” so it is suggested your anger be addressed towards them and not me because I didn’t have anything to do with it. In fact, I actually praised Mr. Price by saying “Now in two years Sheldon, who is a very talented young man, will gain 10-15 pounds of muscle and then he’ll be able to dole out man-sized tackling…that’s what I’m talking about.” So, I used Mr. Price to make the point for just sayin’s benefit, not to make light of Mr. Price. You Amat guys are overly sensitive.
And jcaz, you and I are on the same page that on any Friday night any good team can beat another regardless of the league/division…exactly the point that I’m trying to make that a team’s “D” level is meaningless when the helmets get strapped up. After all, Alemany is a D3 team that MaxPreps has ranked 49th and 90th in Section and State, respectively and Crespi is a perennial Pac-5 power team. Could you talk to Joe Amat because despite examples like Alemany over Crespi he’s not listening to anything that I say?
And jcaz, I’m not questioning that the Pac-5 contains some of the best teams in the state, only that it is incorrect to assume that just because a team is in the Pac-5 then it is far, far, far superior team to a non Pac-5 team…which is what Joe Amat is saying. My argument is that even MaxPreps states that each team is judged individually regardless of league and division, which is contrary to Joey’s ongoing arguments that by virtue of a team’s Pac-5 association they are superior to lesser “D” teams.
And HOLD ON THERE IS A DIFFERENCE, childish name-calling makes one a child…so, which is it, are you a child or do you just need to grow up pal? I never said I was an expert on the Pac-5…your mistake, not mine…I just said I watched the MD vs. OL game on TV which is what just sayin’ also did so I saw what he saw. And, what evidence do you have that I haven’t seen any other Pac-5 games…pretty asinine assumption on your part pal. You like too many others can’t see the big picture that I’m painting, your problem not mine. Here it is in baby terms so you can understand…the Pac-5 is a LEAGUE that consists of 29 teams…not just the dozen or so really good teams like Servite and Mater Dei that the myopic focus upon while ignoring the other league members who are very average teams like Long Beach Cabrillo, Marina, Compton, Jordan, Santa Margarita, Aliso Niguel, Capistrano Valley and others that ALL would routinely get beat by the Amat honk labeled inferior “D” teams like Santa Fe, La Habra, South Hills and yes, CO. Does anyone with half a brain really doubt this? If you do, I urge you to take a look at the scores this year of Cabrillo vs. Bell Gardens (D7); Jordan vs. Pasadena (D7); San Clemente vs. Santa Fe (D7); San Clemente vs. La Habra (D6); Capistrano Valley vs. El Toro (D6) and also against Tustin (D6); Aliso Niguel vs. El Toro (for those out there not keeping score, the lowly D6 El Toro has beat TWO Pac-5 teams this year); Sherman Oaks Notre Dame vs. Moorpark (D4); Newport Harbor vs. Mira Costa (D3)…by the way, Newport Harbor just beat Los Alamitos; Orange Lutheran vs. Redlands East (D2) and Orange Lutheran vs. Narbonne (CITY team)…these are all Pac-5 team loses to lower division/inferior league teams…how can this be if the “D1” Pac-5 is far, far, far superior to all the other lower “D” teams? Could “Superman” really get beat by “Mighty Mouse?” Never going to happen so if Mighty Mouse wins, then we need to examine how super that “Superman” really is, don’t we? Which is all I’m saying…not that any of the other really good SGV teams including CO would win a Pac-5 title because they wouldn’t but they would not finish last either and would be able to compete with the better teams.
WANT TO BEAT S.HILLS VERY SIMPLE STOP THE PASS.....IVE WATCH S.HILLS THE HAVE NOTHING MORE THAN SOME VERY GOOD RECEIVERS.PUT PREASURE ON THEIR QB AND STICK TO THEIR RECEIVERS THEN I PROMISE YOU;THAT YOU CAN COMPETE WITH THEM ON ANY DAY..AS FOR THEIR RUNNING GAME ..WELL LETS JUST SAY THEY ENJOY TO RUN TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE FIELD..MORE THAN OFTEN...REMEMBER STOP THE PASS..THEIR RECEVERS ARE TALL SO MUST DOUBLE THEM OR HAVE A SAFTY THAT CAN JUMP....THER YOU GO I CAN ONLY GIVE YOU THE ADVISE..NOW WHAT COACH WILL TAKE THE ADVISE TO BEAT THEM.
DBHS Brahma support,
Dont worry!, we are here, haha. I do like what Randy said though, the offense, while coming up short, has been consistent and constantly developing.I think Martin will have the kids who need to be ready next yr, ready to go!
Just a couple things this week. LA beat Wilson so the Wheel stays in it's rightful place. Now may some of those LA fans can get off Felipe's back. If they can beat DR or Bonita, they make the Play-offs. Can the man get a pat on the back? We finally hear a chirp from the DB fans. I said earlier in the season that I thought the QB was doing a solid job and offense wasn't the biggest issue. DB peeps don't think you are going to come into the San Antonio League and just roll over everyone. That league is every bit as tough as the league you are leaving. Rowland rolled over Walnut without their best player. West Covina and Diamond Ranch will be just as speedy and tough.
The last thing I want to comment on is what some have called a dirty play in the Walnut-Rowland game. Guys, this is football. Players get hurt everyday. Facemasks get grabbed in every game and it's always a penalty. someone made it sound like the kid grabbed Ball and swung him around a couple of times and slung him to the ground. It was one of those freak plays that happens. As adults we shouldn't call kids dirty players. I've seen that kid play a couple of times. He flies to the ball and is a big time aggressive hitter. Of course I wish Ball a speedy recovery. No one wants to see anyone get seriously injured out there, but it's the nature of the game. It's not badminton or tennis.
SGV Ouuuut!
Benchwarmer
James Guillen's athletic ability has him in the correct position at QB. Two years ago he passed for nearly 3000 yards with his best receivers being Josh and Ryne. Their success back then was in operating a different pass offense. It was a system that fit their talent. Damien's offense today is a Pop Warner type. It is unimaginative and anaemic, and non existent in the red zone. Their defensive structure is reasonable, but tactically and positionally it will continue to be unsuccessful. CHHS motioned to triple receivers and flooded to three levels against no, or inadequate, defensive response to the motion. Gano and his staff are living on past laurels. They need to move into the 21st century. The kids can only do what they're taught. By the way, Ryne has probably forgotten more football than you'll ever know.
I like how DB is scoring about 20 pts a game. They're giving up 40 a night, but they are getting to the end zone. And like we've been saying all along, lots of underclassmen, very little varsity exp. This is Martins 3rd yr. In his first year he had the same exact problems, but they werent getting 20 pts a night. The next year he gets them winning games. Work through these last 4 weeks, get into a San Ant/Miramonte League next yr and lets GET IT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!
Record wise we're about to hit rock bottom. Whats that saying about not being able to turn around till you've hit rock bottom?? :)
Keep fighting through this Brahmas, your paving the way for the future...you have to believe in Coach Martin (he proved last year he can win games)...you have to follow through on your committment to him, the school, our history, and perhaps the pride in knowing that the DBHS football program will be in better shape when you pass the baton afer your last senior game is played, than when you first stepped on that field. Knowing that you took part in the rebuilding of what once was a 4 time CIF champion! You gotta bleed purple and gold!
and remember "Who loves ya baby?"......See you out there!
Wilson fans...get over it all ready! Let's talk about the game and the build up. I would love to hear from "wilson parent" AKA GRI, Schrìemen. He is the one who has been ant antagonizing the LA fans for months now
. Schreimen...gives us your take on the game?
Man, did the Brahmas fall off the face of the earth?? Not a single posting all week. Come on DBar parents and alumni, don't give up on the boys yet!!! There are still 4 games to turn the season around with!!
Keep that Brahmas spirit going strong DBar!!!
Why would you take the ball out of the best RB you have. Walnut put Rhodes as a WR the whole game taking the ball out of his hands As for #88 I would be piss too. Cooper must have something agains him. One pass to him all night. Walnut needes to put other the QB in. Watch Cooper he drops has arm down when his passing the ball.
I am a parent of a teenager. I was at the Wilson/LA game. I used to think rivalries were great. Maybe they still are. However, there are so many perceptions that make it difficult to see the truth. There may be several truths to a story.
This is what I saw: (I was not there supporting either team)
* it was a close game for the first quarter and a half.
* both teams were working hard to score and keep the other from scoring
* LA got ahead but was still an interesting game to watch
* since I was sitting on the LA side, I got to see high school students show their school pride by running around with painted letters on their chests, girls wearing homemade school t-shirts, painted faces, etc.
* it made me remember my high school days when I went to the football games and painted my face, wore school colors, etc.
* as students passed by, I noticed a few bad words would come out, however, it was nice to see that they (most of them) would correct themselves and feel somewhat embarrassed because adults were present
* there were about 7 seconds left in the game, LA was obviously going to win (I don't mean that in a mean way)
* it seemed like to me that students thought the clock was going to run out and that is when they started running out onto the field
* when they realized the players were still on the field on the other end, they started walking back off of the field with the help of the security (I didn't see anyone have to be forced off)
* they looked really excited, not as to taunt Wilson
* after Wilson scored, they kicked off and LA was instructed by their coaches to take a knee when they caught the ball
* I think the player who caught it and ran it back made a poor decision when he ran it back for a td
* it was like a slap in the face and I think the Wilson players took offense to that (who wouldn't)
* that is where I think the situation escalated
* from that point on some of the Wilson players charged either the LA players, students on field, or both
* I noticed a lot of LA students trying to run off of the field when they realized the negative potential of what could happen
* I couldn't see who threw a punch or not but you could see players rushing a core group from both sides
* I also saw several LA players AND Wilson players stay away and actually met at around the 50 yard line to greet each other (they looked like they were old friend, maybe played ball together before) and hugged, shook hands, and chatted briefly
* nowhere on this blog have I read anyone mention this which I think is a positive show of character by both sides
* as adolescents, they take things to heart that some adults realize are not as imporatant (they have to live through it to learn from it)
* Yes, it was sad to see the evening end up negatively, however, I don't think it was as bad as portrayed
* in terms of the whole "turf" thing, it depends on who you ask if it is a sign of disrespect
* someone from Wilson mentioned that they ran onto LA's field a few years ago when they won the wheel back, so I ask, "What is the difference in terms of "disrespect of another's field?"
* I always try to look at the good side to a situation (call me optimistic) so I challenge adults to talk with their children and use this as a learning moment
* it should never be condoned to taunt other players, teams, etc.
* good sportsmanship helps build character and that will take people a lot further than any in your face taunt
* these two schools are so close together geographically yet seem so far apart as a community
* I hope the community rises to the occassion and realizes that they are there together and stop the hatred toward one another (it really sounds childish)
* good luck to the teams in the future, remember being better than the other is not the grand prize, What kind of people are we raising to represent our schools, communities and people?
"LP is full of violence?" Excuse me it wasn't the LP/Workman game where students ran onto the field. No, that came from the "other side of the tracks." Where the so called "educated people" live. Where all the school board members reside. La Puente is the game where students stayed in the stands, didn't drop F-bomb after F-bomb but hey its LP that is full of violence. Some perceptions never change even after 22 years.
Just for the record that kid that you are referring to has been a model student and a model player all year. Sure looks like it was the environment over at LA that created the situation. We all are aware of the major drug and gang issues over at Cell Block LA.
Dear what the hell:
the Wilson students arent getting over it - they are ticked - running on the field at their house during a play when they had the ball
a student group is posting tommorrow a facebook account called Dothey Apologize - they want to see if the principal of LA has the respect to publicly apologize for the LA students and staff who allowed them to run on the field a second time
Hey LA principal: dont have time to write an apology to the Wilson principal Mrs. Paul? that's OK // don't have time for an interview with Fred and do it at the SGV Tribune - that's OK - because by Monday afternoon, 1,800 Wilson students will know about the facebook account and you can apologize directly to them - and I'm sure Dr. Nakaoaka will be interested in the results as well
the reason I know this is my son got a call from another player in the know // my son was standing on the 20 yd line going back to the huddle when the LA 'mob' ran onto the field yelling, waving, taunting - a sight our guys are not just going to get over anytime soon

BREAKING NEWS...
LA Coaches went to TGI Fridays three weeks ago after the Ayala game. They even spent time BS-ing with the Wilson coaches that night.
Since you know so much about the situation you must also know that the Wilson Head Coach (Zavala) and the LA Offensive Coordinator (Uritia) are good friends who coached together at Northview. You probably also know then that those two agreed win, lose or draw, blowout or close game, that they would all meet up at Fridays after the game as a show of respect.
Now after the way the game ended I would not have been surprised if there was a little tension in that building, but there was no "trash talking" as you suggest.
Stop trying to stir up the hornet's nest. You're pathetic.
Tech Support:
I am only talking about the play that took out Ball. I don't feel that it was intentional. I do agree with you that #88 and #32 both started to whine and complain in the 4th quarter. And you are right that is a reflection of the coaching staff, which I talked about during the week (but was blasted for it).
When you have an immature staff, your players are going to act even more immature than a normal 16-18 year old boy.
I personally don't feel like O'Shields would condone any sort of dirty play if he suspected it. I could be wrong, but I hope I'm not.
WORKMAN PEOPLE/FANS, LP PEOPLE/FANS, ENOUGH ALREADY. PEOPLE, IF YOUR AN ADULT AND THERE ARE SNOT NOSE KIDS RUNNING THERE MOUTHS IN THE STANDS SAYING VULGAR WORDS, YOU AS AN ADULT HAVE THE RIGHT TO TELL THESE KIDS TO SHUT UP. BUT THE PROBLEM IS PEOPLE ARE TO SCARED TO SAY ANYTHING AND KIDS WILL BE KIDS! BOTTOM LINE PARENTS NEED TO TELL THEIR CHILDREN TO WATCH WHAT THEY SAY AND RESPECT OTHER PEOPLE.
AS FAR AS THE KIDS YELLING THE OTHER TEAM SUCKS, WELL THATS ON THE AD AND OTHER PERSONNEL AT THE GAME WHO SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE STANDS AND CHECKING THE KIDS. YOUR TALKING ABOUT LA PUENTE, AND YOU KNOW THAT CITY IS A POWDER KEG WITH VIOLENCE. NOT TO OFFEND YOU LP FANS BUT YOU KNOW IT'S TRUE.
I DON'T MEAN TO TAKE ANYTHING FROM THE GAME OF FOOTBALL, BUT WORKMAN FANS DON'T BE IN YOUR FEELING. YOU SHOULD HAVE WON THAT GAME AND YOU KNOW IT, AND IF ALL YOU COULD COME OUT WITH IS WORKMAN SUCKS, WELL THATS PRETTY WEAK. WORKMAN PROBABLY CAME IN TO COCKY AND LP WAS READY!
Breaking News 2
If you don't know the whole story behind the incident, then don't make third party assumptions. There was no stabbing, and the student who got assualted crossed the line when dealing with the (now) Wilson player's family. I'm not saying it was justified, but if you play with fire...
And, don't even try to compare Cellblock LA with Wilson when talking about class. It's apples, and oranges.
BREAKING NEWS???
MAN YOU'RE PATHETIC!!! THAT'S THE MOST SCANDALOUS THING I HAVE EVER READ! ARE YOU SERIOUS??? YOUR GOING TO PUT DOWN EMAILS DOWN? MAN YOUR A SPINELESS WIMP. OHHHHH POOOR BABIES, THEY WERE DRINKING AND BAD MOUTHING AND SAYING F-BOMBS TO US.HAHAHAHAHAH... WHY DIDN'T THOSE WILSON COACHES KICK THEIR AZZES, YOU SISSY! WOW!
DO ALL A FAVOR AND RETRACT YOUR HIDEOUS LITTLE MESSAGE.
THAT IS STRAIGHT OUT JUST WEAK, AND BY THE WAY I'M JUST A NEUTRAL BLOGGER THAT JUST WAS READING ALL THIS WHINING WILSON AND LA CRAP!
Word to La Puente Alum there is a big difference in "this is our house." than "Workman Sucks" I mean come on you seem like a guy who should know better I would expect you of all people to take the lead and say OK enough of that.
Personally the T-shirts were totally approriate and were clever.
Take the lead LP Alum it obvious that you and WarriorNation are big fans and the way you guys are coming back I think both of you deep down inside know that "Workman Sucks" doesn't belong at a HIGH SCHOOL game where those kids are are busting their butts for your staff and school.
Personally I was surprised the faculty let them get away with it.
WILSON FANS PLEASE!!!! LA FANS PLEASE!!! CAN YOU PLEASE GET OVER IT ALREADY! Come on now, this comical on how the students ran on the field! WHO CARES! WHAT DID THEY TRAMPLE ON YOUR FEELING WILSON FANS! COME ON YOU GOT SPANK, AND YOUR TEAM HAS A LONG WAY TO GO STILL!'
LA FANS LETS FACE IT, YOU GUYS ALSO ARE BAD AND ARE NOT GOING ANYWHERE, SO PLEASE QUIT ON REPLYING BACK TO WILSON. KEEP YOUR WHEEL OF FORTUNE AND BE HAPPY YOU GOT THAT, BECAUSE THAT IS ALL YOU'LL HAVE AT THE END OF THE SEASON!
I MEAN, PUTTING EACH OTHER DOWN ON WHO HAS MORE CLASS IS JUST TO FUNNY, AND WHAT, ISN'T YOUR SCHOOLS ABOUT TEN MILES APART. THAT WHOLE AREA LOOKS LIKE (HO CHI MINN) AND IS BEING OVER RAN!
SO DO US ALL A FAVORITE AND
( SHUT THE HELL UP)!!!
Breaking news you are so dumb. from LA Alum. If you wanna talk about classless. How could Wilson take the Los Altos player, who beat the crap out of a Los Altos student last year, and stabbed him, and let him play at Wilson this year? What makes it even worse is that the Wilson coaches also decided to make him a captain. The Wilson coaches allow a person like that on their football team to play? SHAMEFUL!!
To all those complaining about the LP students in the stands and their lack of class, where were you same complainers one year ago when the Lobos stood at the middle of the field after the game taunting the LP players with "this is our house." None of you seemed to say a word about it. The LP players wanted very much to return the favor Friday night but were not allowed to by their administration and coaches.
It was also the Workman students who decided to have T-shirts printed announcing that La Puente was their city. They were trumped by the LP students with T-shirts stating our city; our house. How about giving some credit to students who have a rivalry and came together after the game and hung out in the parking lot enjoying each others company and hard fought game.
Oh yeah, word to Workman, since all the repairs and upkeep of the field are charged to LPHS( yes that's a fact) it is time for Workman HS and its alumni/boosters to get off their combined butts and get a field of your own. You have the room. C'mon Lobos its been over 40 years, Wilson got a field and doesn't have to play at their rival Los Altos anymore.
Let's take a re-wind on Damien.....they had a winning record until the Class of 2010 dominated the roster. Last years juniors (this years seniors) got the nod to start over more talented 2009 players. Betance should have been the quarterback last year - NO DOUBT! The difference I noticed this year is that Gano at least puts his players in a position to win. Gano is a good guy - I just don't understand what is prompting him to play this senior class who just can't perform for him on the field???? Take a look at who is the most productive player on the team this year....it is James Ramirez. a JUNIOR (class 2011) who is playing both sides of the ball with talent, courage, heart, and confidence! If the class of 2010 can't do it, the Class of 2011 should be in...Guillen is a good kid BUT he just can't get the job done - not last year and not this year. Saenz..again a nice kid but not elusive enougth....Ryne Morrison, come on! The kid needs a map and glue on his gloves to catch a ball!
What gives 2010 parents...you blamed EVERYTHING on bad coaching last year and that your boys could get it done with a new coach? Well you got your new coach.....where are your boys?
ATTN: LA & WILSON, U BOTH SUCK! bonita blows and they can still beat u.
FredJ,
You picked West Covina to win...
How did you miss it so badly?
What did you believe before the game that didn't pan out?
You must not have believed that the Huskies "D" was tough enough to stop the West Covina running game...but they wouldn't have even scored if we didn't put our JV team in (which I'm happy we did).
Or...you didn't think our offense was very good without the Canada kids. South Hills could have easily put up 40+ if they converted all of their Red Zone opportunities though.
What are your thoughts on S. Hills after seeing the game?
Go....Huskies!
Heights Parent,
Could it have been a case of security/Police being overwhelmed so they "let" the crowd on the field? In either case, personal responsibility is just that. If I found a lost wallet and kept it thats on me and no one else. The temptation may be there, but I know the difference between what's right and what's wrong, as do most folks.
Dear Amat fans, I rushed home after the CO game to catch the 2nd half of the MD-OL game and a great finish it was. This CO honk is a realist and KNOWS we would have gotten WOOOORKED by either team. We are still trying to find our identity, we have not put together a complete game this year but hopefully when its playoff time we will. COchargrfan, if this was 2008 I would maybe back you but probably not. Way to pound the slime BA, good luck and keep proving the critics wrong.
Husky Pride,
Knowing the deminer of the kid I doubt that he told one of your players that he intentionally tried to hurt your player, Why would he say that? How would it makes him look? Kids will say or exagerate things to make a good story.
HuskySupport,
I was there and your right it was a blocked kick, my bad, I talked to someone affilliated with WC about that play today and he told me there was definately no malicious attempt on that play so who do I believe, you a parent who calls out a kids number on a public forum to accuse him or someone from the staff who also saw it on film?
This kid does not block on a regular basis thats why I give him the benifit of doubt, but as a DB he does tackles on a regular basis and is probably used to going low when he's going to make contact, so again I give him the benifit of doubt. As for the play that injured our player
it may have started face to face but the spin around was well after the play had stopped and our boy was in a helpless position, it looked like your boy could have had more self control, there was no split second thinking like on the blocked kick
(GR)-(Wilson Parent)
whats up??? how are you doing?
I thought the Damien faithful stood behind this years "leadership." Are you telling me that the rumblings in the stands have begun? I guess there is no pleasing the Spartan contingency.
Repeat--
"Maybe you are not as astute as it seems because LA/Wilson security & police are the same group. They work all different games/activities all over the district. Home team controls security, game plan, parking, entrance, etc." All on the same radio frequency, all have the same boss...spend some time volunteering and you might know a little more.
Two years ago...Wilson won and fans rushed the field for celebration and I think that Wilson staff ran to move the wheel to their side (rather hypocritical) although we are in agreement that it can and did turn into an unsafe situation
Damien with 1 win and 5 losses needs to stop expecting $$$ to flow their direction w/o some serious reality checkin' evaluation on this season and the direction they are spiraling downward at this point... We cannot take this heartburn every week, and the future is bleak under this "leadership", so we withdraw support for this effective immediately... adios amigos...
smallcitymc,
So what are you saying it is the LA students fault that their security let them on the field before the game was over and with all the Wilson players right their. If LA's security had safety as a concern they would have waited until all the Wilson players were off the field. Instead they decide to let them on the field before the game is over. The intent was very clear, they got what they wanted.....
Walnut Insider,
I know it is really hard to go after a player on your own team when they are playing dirty so its not like I can't see your point. Other than the fact you're wrong it's a good point.
Grabbing the facemask is one thing. It happens. Grabbing it, yanking it, spinning the helmet and head like that, and holding on to it until the helmet is OFF Ball's head (which is what happened) is another. And then doing the same thing to the running back less than 5 plays later (without the helmet coming off is yet another.
#88's actions all game were a poor reflection on his team and school. From the Rowland side you could see him whining that he wasn't getting the ball. In the fourth quarter he just walked off the field after a third down play even though Walnut was going to have to go for it on fourth down (causing Walnut to have to scramble to put an 11th man on the field). He never worked to get open (not sure if he had any catches but he was NEVER open all game and any he made were just cuz of his size difference). And yes, he made dirty plays on defense.
The entire South Hills team played well last night. The D-line blew plays up and the linebackers flew to the ball. Jake Shirley proved he is a top notch athlete!
And for Dan,
I'm sorry my friend but when you have a kid telling ours he hit Roddy below the waist on purpose after the game that's unacceptable. Andrew has been out for awhile and this was his first game back, it's a shame for him to go out like that. Andrew we hope for a speedy recovery!
It's obvious that the La Puente people could care less about what is said by it's student body.
If thats OK with them so be it.The following comment say's it all about La Puente and I hope this is a minority feeling and not the majorities feeling at La Puente
"i was at the game on the sideline there is nothing wrong saying workmen sucks it the way the game is it happens everywhere college, and even the pros. i guess u doing watch much sports in witch you probably don't so go and watch the pros and see what you hear or just playing it simple dont go to the games if you don't like that or just keep ur mouth shut and deal with it."
Wait a minute you were on the sidelines and you found that OK? That's even worse if your on the sidelines that means your an educator, coach, or part of La Puente's administration or staff or alumnus. And you found that to be acceptable?
I too will call on Monday and let the administration that they have adults on the sidelines that find that acceptable behaviour. It's also against CIF rules too under the sportmanship rule portion.
First off the picture shown here is taken about a second or so after #88 grabbed the face mask. I was there, he split two blockers (as seen in the picture) reached out and grabbed the face mask and it was momentum that did the rest. I have seen a lot of games in my life and I am not above criticizing my own team, but I don't think he did it on purpose. Football is a full speed contact sport. Injuries do and will happen. It was unfortunate, but things like this do happen.
#88 is a big kid with a long reach and he is used to being able to just reach out, grab cloth and pull someone down. That didn't happen last night.
Rowland did a nice job of taking out Walnut's big 3 players offensively. King had a few nice runs, but that was it. The o-line was the main concern for Walnut going into the season and you can see why now.
Some guy last year was calling for Coach Warren to be Coach of the Year for the job he did with the line last year. I tried to tell him it was because they were all seniors. He wasn't buying it, but I don't see him anywhere this season.
Coach Warren is doing the best he can with what he has. I have talked to him and the staff (past & present) and they know the line is weak. I am sure that he is getting the most out of them too, but unfortunately that's still not enough. It's not like the coaches can go block for them.
Defensively, it's like Walnut was diving at shoelaces all night long. They tried to arm tackle too and that didn't work. #4 was a strong runner and in the 2nd half he just ran over Walnut. Walnut's defense is nothing to write home about this season. Giving up and average of 20 points a game in the preseason was a concern to me and now you know why. If Ball doesn't go down in the 1st quarter, you might have seen Rowland put up 40+.
Walnut better come ready this week because West Covina needs this win just as bad as Walnut does. Going down 0-2 in league pretty much seals your fate in terms of making the playoffs. Do I think they can do it? Yeah, but there needs to be some excitement and passion on Walnut's end of it. They looked flat and they shouldn't have been because it was #1 vs. #2.
Dan,
I am a parent and obviously you were not at the game last night. The play your describing on our #3 was on a blocked field goal attempt, not an interception and the play where your center got spun around was when he was face to face with our guy, not a blind sided block, so don't compare the two situations. Don't use the "heat of the moment" excuse on a play like that! Or, "you don't know whats going on in a kids head" excuse either. Everyone who plays football clearly knows you don't block below the waste by diving at a kids knees from the blind side. And then you try the "under sized" excuse. This is a clear attempt on your part to try to make excuses for what you think went on.
That my friend was clearly a blatant act no matter what excuse your trying to use.
Schedule a meeting with your principal who is a referee himself and I am sure he will explain that plays like that should be a "suspendable" act in football.
Heights Parent,
Yes. Lets put it on someone else that makes things easier. What ever happened to "personal responsibility?" It couldn't possibly be the the fault of the people who actually took part now could it?
smallcitymc,
Are you that stupid or what. Wilson has their own police and security and LA has their own police and security. Wilson Police and Security are responsible for the Wilson side and LA's security and police are responsible for the LA side. LA kids on the field LA security and police failed.
give some crdie to that South Hills defense
holding ricky to only 9 yards wow very impressive.
line backer crew must be really good. i wanna know those kids names
Raiders vs. Mustangs
Bottom Line
Raiders won with out Ball.
Mustangs had one good drive and nothing more.
Defense couldn't make tackles at all.
The Rowland Kicker(20) even ran over a defender.
He also scored a 47 yarder with 5-10 yards deep.
Mustangs over rated.
Leonard Rhodes(32)got laid out first play by Josh O(4).
After that he did nothing.
88 played dirty and didnt score.
31 is a wanna be brandon stansell.
walnut doesnt deserve to make it to CIF.
This just in:
Workman Lobos, La Puente Grad 1999, I'm imbarrassed and Show some class LP students...you're all a bunch of whinning babies! You All Suck!!! LOL Bassett...you'll suck next week!
COChargerfart,
So watching a half of football on tv makes you an expert on PAC-5 football. You come on here and now knock MD ,OL, and Sheldon Price even though you try to cushion it by saying he will mature and become a man size tackler. A bash is a bash. Do you think him being an Amat grad had anything to do with the bash and envy. Then you write I normally don't say things like this but , there you go again defending your outbursts as something out of the ordinary when in fact by reading your posts it seems they are becoming quite the norm for you.Could you be surpressing your true inner self here . You are an embarresment to Charter Oak and their great program. Do you notice your standing alone in your fight against the Amat honks, oh there it is again something that is not in your normal character but a term used bt all haters of Amat, on this one. Not once has a CO backer come on here to defend your position . Do you know why. Because you are full of shiat on this one. You are an ignorant self centered idiot to the highest degree who just has a mean case of I wish I was a Lancer blues and now are so blinded by it you start attacking members of there division which proves when it comes to talking football you come in shooting nothing but blanks. Ask anyone or ask a fellow CO backer or go ask Coach Lou what his thoughts are on the Pac-5 and if he feels he could compete with them on a weekly basis and see what they tell you . Or better yet go to one of the games which it seems you never to go to so it's puzzling the COChargerfan screen name and then go to the Mater Dei , Servite game and see if you can tell the difference. I would say go to the Amat ,Loyola game but I think you would be so giddy by being on Lancer ground you just might shiat on yourself.

PREP FOOTBALL: ST. PAUL RUN OVER BY BISHOP AMAT 38-6

SANTA FE SPRINGS - While the Bishop Amat High School offense struggled Friday evening, the Lancers showed versatility against host and bitter rival St. Paul.
The Lancers' first four scores were set up by big special- teams and defensive plays, helping Bishop Amat (6-0) remain undefeated with a 38-6 victory.
While there were several big plays, perhaps the most crushing came 13 seconds into the second half, when Amat super- returner Darien Johnson took the opening kickoff 85 yards for a score to give the Lancers a 28-6 lead.
The Johnson touchdown was the second big return for the Lancers, who earlier stunted St. Paul's momentum with a 50-yard kickoff return from Davis Cazares.
The six-foot senior moved the ball to the St. Paul 25, then running back Jay Anderson scored from 22 yards out two plays later, moving the score to 21-6.
Anderson, who rushed for 115 yards on 20 carries, helped Bishop Amat answer St. Paul's lone score, which came on a 1-yard touchdown from Drake Griffin with 3:35 remaining in the first half that put the score at 14-6.
St. Paul (3-3) shot itself in the foot on its first drive with a fumbled toss between starting quarterback Paul Lopez and running back Deion Williams (11 carries for 86 yards).
The loose ball, caused by a strip tackle by sophomore Rio Ruiz, was recovered and returned for a 15-yard score by David Lyons that put Amat up 7-0 just 55 seconds into the game.Amat's other
first-half score came on Johnson's 65-yard blocked kick return that began when Cazares stuffed a 40-yard field goal attempt by St. Paul kicker Angel Gonzalez.
Amat kicker Alexander Ragsdale, on the other hand, converted a career-long 49- yard field goal in the third.
The Lancers also had a 4-yard scoring pass from quarterback Jerry McClanahan (9of13 for 84 yards) to Idilio Sanchez.
Lopez finished 3 of 7 for 32 yards, while backup quarterback Chris Willson, who played the entire second half, was 8 of 17 for 56 yards with one interception.

DAVIS CAZARES continues to AMAZE.
GO LANCERS!
to La puente grad 1999. honestly i was at the game on the sideline there is nothing wrong saying workmen sucks it the way the game is it happens everywhere college, and even the pros. i guess u doing watch much sports in witch you probably don't so go and watch the pros and see what you hear or just playing it simple dont go to the games if you don't like that or just keep ur mouth shut and deal with it.
I was at the Amat game last night and I have to wonder why anyone would kick-off or punt to Johnson. I realize it's almost a "a damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation, but as an opposing team I'd rather give up a chunk of yards than a touchdown.
Amat has an excellent defense that truly knows the meaning of "swarming to the ball." They are not big, but boy are they FAST! The offense I believe is still an area of concern though. They are not putting up the numbers like they should. I can't quite put my finger on it. Yes I know they're winning, but you have to admit the offense is going to have to kick it up a notch here real soon.
I'm still a little surprised the Hags is putting the ball in the air with the game well in hand. Maybe, and that's a strong maybe, in a 3rd and long situation to keep the ball out of the other team's hands, but he's putting it up on 2nd and 10??? I will give him kudos for bringing in the 2nd and 3rd stringers much earlier than normal.
"Slime (St. Paul)" ... really? I saw great admiration and respect for each other at the game. Not only did both teams stand and face the respective crowd while the alma mater was being played, but I saw friends from both sides shaking hands after the game.

Get your facts straight. That was SCHOOL Police. Big difference, which leads me to question your assumption that the Police had anything to do with it in the first place.
Los Altos better get over there win cause there not playing Wilson anymore there gonna get worked for the rest of league they got Bonita this week DRanch and charter oak left in league
everyone knows that CO,DRanch, and Bonita will be the three miramonte teams in the playoffs and for those that think LA will beat Bonita LA got killed against San Dimas Bonita lost by 8 to them and Dranch will beat them even worse and dont get me started on CO and at least Wilson
doesn't talk trash both of your programs are
garbage
PREDICTIONS
Bonita 28 - LA 14
DRanch 35 - LA 7
Charter oak 49- LA 0
YourKiddingRight- You also need to relax. I wasnt at the game so I not sure what the atmosphere was there in the stands, sounds intense, but am not part of any of your problems, believe me. Good to hear that your at football games with your kids. Maybe most of those kids who were yelling and disrespecting your ear hole didnt have their Papa and momma there? All im saying is that football and old fashion school spirit bring out the animal in all of us. Let the kids be kids, let the fans be fans. Whats next? No Boooooooing??
Booooooooo to you and "YourKiddingRight? sucks, YourKddingRight? SUCKS!"
Ps: Saying a team or high school sucks is about the worse it will get. Relax grandpa
Alexander Ragsdale's 49 yard field goal last night is now the longest field goal ever to be booted by an Amat player..
CONGRATS TO RAGSDALE AND HIS FAMILY!!!
All blue- It wasnt just the bone crushing hits by Cazares, but the way he plays and the respect he has for the game. I see him hitting someone on almost every play and thats the kind of football Ive always respected and was brought up on. Its called hustle, desire, passion, focus, the never die and I hate to lose attitude. If he smashes someone crossing the middle, he will walk away like "Just doing my job!" no over the top celebrating, just doing work. His kick off return for 50+ yards shows what kind of skills this Ronnie Lott clone has.
Im a witness
Freedom of speech your kidding right, you may let your kids talk like that at your house or in public but no way are my kids going to. Or they will have a foot up their backsides.I happen to be sitting there when that was going on and I finally told the kids to stop it which they did.
Obviously your part of the problem!
Thanks for continuing to lower the standards.
Kid just having fun.............wow incredible!

Maybe you are not as astute as it seems because LA/Wilson security & police are the same group. They work all different games/activities all over the district. Home team controls security, game plan, parking, entrance, etc.

Just for the record!! - the caption said "ugly scene with fans running on the field at Wilson--"
A caption is under a picture, learn how to spell, and there was no knifing incident otherwise Wilson's starting line-up would have been one short. What gang banger dresses up in red/blue sequins and painted red/blue faces? Just another low shot to make you feel better.
Convince us again how you are just a HH resident since you seem to know the names of Wilson players and had to get them in your fictional piece.
Jose, Concerned parent. et.al:
you are all missing the point!!! - this is way beyond typical rivalries!!
200 students on the opposing teams field should never ever run onto the field - DURING THE GAME NO LESS and taunting - how did things get to this point
I teach in the district (not Wilson or LA) for 16 years and am 47 yrs old
all of this has got to stop - it is one thing to have a good rivalry etc. - it has gone beyond that point
- the teachers at Wilson on Friday were instructing their students to be careful (in class) that LA students were going to try to start a fight
200 students dont run onto the opposing teams field - at any time - escpecially during the game!!! and LA admin even allowed it a second time!! after the game - that is really unacceptable - on the other guys TURF!!
why do LA administrators allow provocative language at school rallies - why do they turn their ears to the language of LA coaches teaching how to sprain ankles
I apologize that my school district is not dealing with this issue - that they have allowed a normal rivarly to get out of hand, HH's is a great community - we are better than this
everyone knows that the LA admin and coachs will never apologize, - but will something be done for next year - or the other upcoming sports????
I was at the game last night as well, and coming from a former student who graduated there in 2004, I must say that I have seen several of those sad events happen during those games. Sure, two years ago, we did it, but only because it had been nine years since we won the Wheel.
For those people that were at the game last night, I must admit, Los Altos looked good with the run, especially against Wilson's D, which I saw to be either run down by halftime, or LA exploited one of Wilson's weaknesses. Wilson looked tired coming out in the 2nd half.
The thing that I did not like was the end of the game. It was already decided, so what if we scored with 2 seconds to go? The game was already decided at 48-17. What I think esclated the situation was the fact that the kid ran the ball back on the KO Return for a TD. All he had to do was run it out of bounds. That was really rubbing it in to a game that had already been decided. The fight with the students just made it worse.
Another thing that I did not like was allowing the LA fans and students to come onto the field. OUR HOME FIELD!!! That was such a slap in the face if I have ever seen one! This was disgraceful and if I am reading what actually happened, it is just another case of not controlling the students, or the security from LA controlling itself for that matter. I am saddened that the game ended the way it did, and I hope for a better result next year. Hopefully Wilson can win The Wheel on LA's home field next year, and show the class that Wilson High School has!
Go Cats!!!
Jose,
Are you clueless or just another LA admin trying to cover up another LA screw up. I am not going to go into details but one of our kids was punched and returned a punch that layed out your kid. Their was at least one more punch thrown during this event that I am personally aware of.
Jose sounds like Harrington, another cover up.
You guys screwed up again ....................
Serious, I couldnt agree with you more. Smallnuts has become one of the dirtiest playing teams in the valley. Ask Glendora what happen to them during the passing tournament at Bonita high school this past summer. Cheap shot to the head by a Smallnut player sent a Glendora player to the hospital. They thought they were all macho by beating there Chest and the Head Smallnut coach just let it happen.
Dear witness,
You said it, what a special player!!!
Did you see that hat fly, Oh my GOD, the helmet was 12 feet in the air!!! Prop's to the reciever from St. Paul, way to take it like a man and pop right back up!
I think from here out, we will see a lot of side line and fade routes. Dont think that crossing route will be open, anymore!
#42 DAVIS CAZARES IS THE REAL DEAL!!!
WARNING; If you see this kid on the field, better have your eyes open and your knees bent!
HuskieSupport,
You don't know whats in a kids mind when a play is at full speed, to say he intentionally tried to hurt your player is pretty irresponible on your part, I hope your just a highschool kid and not a parent talking like this. Our kid that made the block is small in size like most of our db's, smaller players tend to tackle low, I realize it was a block but with a play like that [an interception return] at full speed it was probaly tackleing instincts kicking in, unfortunate play but football is like that. Your boys had a few plays that I could make the same accusations on, the play where your boy spun our center around and hurt his knee and took him out of the game was way late and your homer ref was right there and didn't call it, there was also the play on our #20 that two of your boys did on him, one had his knees and the other drove him down to the ground, the play looked pretty dirty, unlike you, I won't accuse your boys of haveing the intent to injure because in the heat of battle sometimes it's hard to stop motion, but it looked pretty dirty. Good luck to your #3 and our #59 and any others that were injured last night.
Notes on Amat
Did anyone happen to notice that Alemany beat Crespi last night ?
Interesting eh…
Anyway, prior to last night, I was under the impression that our games were going to get progressively harder as the schedule wore on. Boy was I wrong. I guess that it just goes to show you that any of these teams on our schedule can beat anyone on any given night, including some of the states power house’s.
As for the game itself, I have to tell you that last nights game was intense. The kind of hitting that the Amat defensive back field put on the St Paul swordsmen last night was out of this world ! I have to say that over the last few years, I haven’t seen that type of hitting coming out of an Amat team against an opponent in a long time. To tell you the truth, it got pretty scary out on the field last night for those poor swordsmen. I can see now why so many of these guys decided to drop the ball rather than take the kinds of hits that that defense was putting out there on those receivers last night. Seeing all those guys getting laid out so badly was truly smash mouth football. Yikes !
BTW, I know that there are always Monday morning quarterbacks after every game, and I also know that almost without question, the there will always be someone who asked, “why did he do that ?”
Well, was a little bit confused as to why the St Paul coach didn’t try to put up a few more points when he had the chance ? They had at least two opportunities to have at least tried to make a field goal during the course of that game last night. Now, I realize of course that they may have questioned their ability to even make a field goal, given the fact that we ran one back for a score last night, but still, I am at a loss as to why he decided to have left so many points out on that field last night ?
Of course, he may not have had a guy who could probably hit a 49 yarder (aka Ragsdale), but to have so little confidence in you’re kicking game must have been disheartening for their place kicker.
Anyway, do you realize that if we hadn’t gone for the on sides kick, that it would have been a shut out last night ? Man, what an azz kicking eh ??
Oh, one more thing here. At this point of the game, you have to wonder what in the world is going on in the mind of COCHARGERFAN ?
You know, it’s one thing to get a little riled up at people who might come in here and say “my teams better than yours,” but this guy has really taken it personal here. I mean, to sit here and to belittle a talented freshmen college player and to actually ask how it is that people consider the PAC5 to be a superior league is a real stretch, even for this guy.
Look COCHARGERFAN, I got it, you’re still pissed off at having lost a game. Actually if memory serves me correctly, you guys didn’t just lose you’re one game, you guys got hammered didn’t you? Oh well, if you’re gonna be mad, I suppose that I should at least thank you for keeping you’re comments on the field of play so to speak, and not brining up religion nor, animal scarifies into the discussion this time around, but really dude, to question if the PAC5 is a superior league ???
Wow, you’re really pushing it now kiddo.
I read a comment below about how #88 was going through 2 rowland players and was just grabbing. I dont think so. by the look at the picture, it looks to me that #88 was looking towards Ball with his hand clearly grabbing the face mask. Sorry, but #88 should be benched or something especially if he is making grabbing of the face mask a habit. My prayers are with you Michael Ball.

They've never beaten us fair and square and always have wished they could be like us. They are just jealous of us and hopefully we ruined their season like they always try to ruin our players seasons. We are the better school, better team, we are just better people. West Covina should apologize and be embarrassed of themselves but they will show no class and instead whine and complain like they always do and make excuses.
The truth hurts and I hope it stings and with that I invite every West Covina family to play for a real winner and leave those bums over there because next year were moving up and your going down again and again and again and again and again.
-Better People??...yeah your really classy up here....yeah South Hills won yesterday no doubt about it, West Covina came out flat and South Hills wanted it more, but to say West Covina has never won fair and square??....didnt those "BUMS" win last year?
Great job Amat! The score could have been 75-14 if you would have got it out of 2nd gear, but it wasnt needed last night. And I need to mention the hard hitting #42 Davis Cazares, Dang son, you really put the hurts on some of those StPaul recievers, if you were there you know what im talking about. Some of Jay Anderson's moves were incredible, his feet moving so fast it look like a cartoon. All CIF Darien Johnson doing what he does every game! Ragsdale the kicker is incredible, USC needs a kicker(right now). Great coaching. For all you football fans out there, make sure you make it to atleast once Amat game this year and Witness what real football is all about. Wow! Again, #42 nice hitting son!
Damien, what happened last night? You should be embarrassed, your fans should feel cheated, and that 1-5 record is indicative of your team. Best 1-5 team I ever saw. Please, nothing to say this morning.
Fred,
Were you at the game (LA vs Wilson). I ask because you wrote the the game ended in an ugly scene. Was just wondering who was your source if you personally did not see this? ( a wilson parent/admin? )
Also, why, what, made it an ugly scene. That statement leaves to much to the imagination. And as you can see people react by what they read.
I was there, and can honestyly say I saw no one fighting, did they run out onto the field, yes no argument there.
As I stated before you see the running out onto the field in all sports on TV. Does it make it right, probably not. But it does not make it ugly.
If your source is reliable with no other motives, so be it. But I hope you also check with the other side and didn't get one side only.
Hey La Puente Grad 1999, you need to get a grip! Do you know what "Rivalary" means? and what are you talking about..."all this fighting crap"??? The students from both LP and Workman were just having fun with each other cheering across the field. Haven't you ever seen a college rivalary game?...it's alot crazier than what you saw last nite...It's all just in fun!!! Many of these kids have grown up with each other. I was on the sideline last night. It was a hard played-clean game. There was NO fighting or anything even close to that! When the game ended, the players congratulated each other and went to their own side of the field. The LP coaches and administration kept their team on their side of the field and afterwords, many of the players, cheerleaders and parents (from both teams) hung out after the game and mingled with each other...there was absolutely no problems or incidents after the game. Dude you need to get a life!
smallNUT INSIDEr: are you SERIOUS!
Look "You are either pregnant or your not"....A FACEMASK is a FACEMASK!!!!!...Once,...Twice,.....THREE frigin times - Come on....NO ACCIDENT!....Maybe thats what they coach at Smalnut High....Hopefully not ...but makes me wonder why that KID (Aubrey Coleman #88 )wasnt disciplined!
He should have been EJECTED,SUSPENDED,BANNED,EXILED,DEPORTED...something,SPANK his hand at LEAST!!!...instead, he was patted on the back by the HEAD umpire on subsequent play ...NICE ..way to go "REFS".....You missed the boat on that one.
SORRY SMALLNUTS...your tactics bacfired!
.......anyways, looks like M.Ball should be back ...uuhhh....right in time with ROWLANDS CIF BID!!!!..While Y88OU watch from the stands!!! ;P
to La puente grad 1999-
Relax a little. Its a football game with students in the crowd having a good time and releasing some good energy. I was at the Dodger game yesterday and their were 50,000 fans yelling out "Philly sucks! Philly sucks!" it was pretty cool. I was once of those fans yelling. Some of the philly fans were laughing their head off and having a good time. So chill out and realize that these kids could be out on the street getting in to trouble, but theyre not, there at a football game voicing their pride and having fun. So relax big grad from 1899
La Puente grad 1999 sucks! La puente grad 1999 sucks! I have no class right?
I-guna
Your absolutely right I cant't believe they ran out on the field.... everytime I see those college games and the students run out on the field the first thing I think of is dang those gang bangers....
Are you serious? Knifing in the restrooms? I know both kids involved in that and it was know knifing. Not gang related, or racially motivated (said the racial part b4 you say that next).
As for being embarrassed! A simple solution for that is don't go to the game.
Stop making simple emotional reactions to a big rivalry game (running onto the field) into an out statement of the students of of the school.
They are not all gang members, not by a long shot. Are gang members at the school? Of course dont be naive, they are at all schools. Even on the northside of the tracks (Our house our town).
Let it go and move on. Your team lost. This is a sports blog not the Metiche ("gossip")blog.
Why are u blamming the students for going to the field, its not their fault they were celebrating their teams win, but who was responsible is security, it should have been them that stopped them. Please stop hating on Los Altos, last year one of LA's varsity players was suspended for putting a student in the hospital, where is he at now? at wilson so please stop hating on LA, accept the fact the fact we are a better school
Just for the record!! - the caption said "ugly scene with fans running on the field at Wilson--
200 LOS ALTOS STUDENTS RAN ONTO THE FIELD DURING THE GAME ON WILSON'S FIELD - NOT A SINGLE WILSON STUDENT DID THAT - the game wasnt even over - after they cleared the field then Schreiman throw a TD pass to Nelson on the next play
LA always says that they get a bad rap by being called the ghetto school with knifings in bathrooms, shootings after school, full of gang members, etc. - this doesnt help their cause
- there should be an official apology from the LA principal to Wislon and it should placed in the Wilson school newspaper - the PAW PRINT
and no I am not a Wilson parent or anything - I went to the game with a friend but live in HH - this is even embarrassing to me as a community hom owner to be associated with a school like LA right now
Yeah it's a rivalary game so that makes it OK to be yelling WORKMAN SUCKs across the field.
You're OK with that? And all this macho fighting crap is just stupid.Has La Puente really stooped to this. It was a great game but the immature loud mouth's ruin a win.
LP's administration is getting a phone from me and I'm an alum too.
I agree with the earlier post it made us look bad.
West Covina got what they deserved and that was a good old fashioned butt kicking. They are lucky it wasn't worse. Everyone always says West Covina this and West Covina that but if you knew their coaching staff and players like we do over here at South Hills none of us were surprised by them coming over to our school earlier in the week or their dirty play last night.
They've never beaten us fair and square and always have wished they could be like us. They are just jealous of us and hopefully we ruined their season like they always try to ruin our players seasons. We are the better school, better team, we are just better people. Oh by the way, Shirley says hi too!
The Warriors ran the Lobos out of town last night...What! Did they actually think they could walk into our house and beat us? This is our house...our town! LP Baby!!!
...And what's up with those rowdy Hacienda Hts. fans? What are they drinking over there on the south side of the tracks? LOL
"The Voice of the Warriors"
Our thoughts go out with Rowland and the Ball family. Here is some inside, the Coleman kid came over to SH on Thurs for the volleyball game and ran his mouth the entire time almost causing a fight.
As for us, we feel your pain Raiders. After watching my home video, #24 from WC clearly takes out Andrew Roddy on a cheap shot that went after his knees, he might me out the rest of the season.
There is no room for stuff like this in sports. CIF should put together a review board to look at plays like these and suspend those kids for as long as it takes for the injured player to come back. Face masks are hard to show intent to hurt someone, but what the WC kid did is clearly something you don't do in football unless you wish to harm the opposing player.
Andrew, our thoughts and prayers are with You, your family and the Huskies for a speedy return. You are fun to watch and a good football player.
LOL @ COChargerfan
This numbnuts keeps making an ass out of himself by belittling Pac-5 competition. Why don't you pressure Farrar to grow a pair and actually schedule Orange Lutheran or Mater Dei? Until then, you and your Chargers will continue to look upon Bishop Amat and the Pac-5 with ignorance and envy.
"Gabrielino 14, El Monte 7 -- Somebody had to win, right?"- sounding a little chapped about prognostication(s)- war Gabby
And when I said beware of the B88gie Man, in no way do I mean that he was going to go out and break a collar bone. The kid is big and strong. Big hitter. Dirty? I don't think so. I don't see how you can intentionally face mask someone when they are running at full speed. Anyway, I hope Ball makes a speedy recovery.
Hey my Amat fan club, I watched the second half of the Orange Lutheran v. MD game so my guess is that I have as much personal knowledge about them as you. Oh I forget, just sayin’ has seen them in PAST years so the transition property makes him an expert on this year’s team. Breaking news for you just sayin’…Aaron Corp isn’t OL’s QB anymore and I didn’t see Barkley chucking it for MD. But, I did see MD’s skinny-armed QB chuck the ball right to OL’s backer, which cost them the game. Oh, and I did read the score of MD vs. that city team Carson…seems that the MD boys are not always supermen. And I do know the York kid that OL’s threw the 2 pt conversion attempt to so my guess is that I actually know more kids (i.e. 1) on OL’s team than you guys.
And who has beat OL this year? Why that IE team Redlands East Valley and the 3-loss CITY team, Narbonne. So, exactly how is the Pac-5 far, far, far superior?
I also checked out the rosters of the teams and they are mostly skinny-armed kids...what does a 17 year old RB or WR that’s 5’8”-5’11” and 160-170 pounds mean to you? Or linebackers listed at 210-220 pounds who probably are really 190-200 pounds? Want to know the difference between a man and a kid, well that would be the KID named Sheldon Price getting beat down by the MAN named Kenjon Barner…the noticeably stronger player. Now in two years Sheldon, who is a very talented young man, will gain 10-15 pounds of muscle and then he’ll be able to dole out man-sized tackling…that’s what I’m talking about. Why do you think that most high school kids have to wait 2-3 years before they get to play at the college level? I normally don’t say stuff like this but are you guys really that dumb to even think about comparing the body of a 17-year-old high school kid to a 22-year-old college player?
Pay attention...how many times do I have to say that it is not about the record or who you play because the only thing that matters when the record books are reviewed is who won the TITLE. That’s why teams like the Lakers don’t even put up conference title banners in Staples…only Championships boys and girls.

Not strong beyond Rhodes? Well here is your warning. Beware of the B88gie Man. He is wandering around in secondary. If you run through the middle of the field carelessly, Rowland Raidah, he will pop up and put a hat on that ARRRSSS.
Just saying. Careful. B88gie Man comes out at night.

Methinks Coach O'Shields has gots hisself some daddy problems which need sorting out. But then, sometimes this sort of thing works itself out and we read about it in Giradot's blog. Scary.
Thoughts from the game last night;
First off it wasn't a cheap facemask. If you look at t he picture #88 is coming through 2 blockers, he reached out and grabbed whatever he could and unfortunately grabbed the facemask. Baal's momentum and Aubrey's going the opposite way is what really caused this. It looked bad the way the helmet came flying off.
As for the rest of the game, Rowland was dominating up til that point. Then there was a period where Walnut had the upper hand, but never capitalized on it. I don't think they did enough to get the ball in their play maker's hands. Rhodes, Aubrey, and for the most part King, were quiet tonight. King had some descent runs and Rhodes dropped about 3 or 4 balls that should have been caught.
Defensively, Walnut looked like they are going to get run over all season. Either that or Rowland's o-line is great. The holes they opened up were very impressive. Hats off to that line.
This doesn't look well for my prediction early on, but hopefully Walnut can sneak up on West Covina and get a win out of there.

Michael Ball is out for six weeks broken collar bone.
God that facemask on Michael Ball looks horrendous. Dirty play by the Walnut player and it ended in a broken collarbone.
HEY NORTHVIEW COACHES WHAT ARE YOU DOING GIVING UP ON OUR KIDS ESPECIALLY COACH ARELLANES GET INTO THE GAME DONT JUST STAND THERE AND LOOK STUPID. WE SEE FROM THE STANDS WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH YOU COACHES.
Not This Year - No excuses, you played a better game.
Walnut = DIRTY,Dirty,DIRTY!!!!!
Enough Said!
stuff like that happens at a rivalry game and at least the fans didnt go on the field like the LA game what kind of class is that oh yea last year when Lp lost the silva kids was going around flipping off the Lp fans tell me if that's class all i know is this year he got wat he deserve is a loss to Lp. and after the game the coaches kept there kids away from the workmen side as bad as they wanted to go on there side but the were controlled and good game Lp a lot better then last week keep it up and get ready for bassett.
Hey LA Fan:
I find it kind of ironic that you have the nerve to talk crap about beating Wilson when at ONE TIME you were beating the creme of the crop.
If I were you I would shut the hell up until you get back to beating the creme of the crop.Because beating a team that is basically finding it ways is nothing to brag about you moron.
CIF ruling, Gonzalez Wallace Bishop Amat Denied - Restrict football, basketball and baseball 10/16/2009
To Show Some Class La Puente students
Wow! Really? No one cares! Its a rivalry game for christ sake!
Dear Jr,
Now that I have completly screwed you over, with bad advice, now we can spend more quality time together. Wanna play catch?
KH
How's that CIF ring lookin tonight?
Dude, get some help! Bonita Sucks!
Amat crushed the slime. BUMS! Darien Johnson is a special player, but this night belonged to Cazares. HE IS A HITTER! Cazares leveled everything moving and blocked the fg that Johnson picked up and ran for the touchdown. Great win Lancers!
LA 54 Wilson 17 haha yea Wilson isnt very good yet they actually thought they could beat LA haha wat a joke. Wilson is horrible they cant play football and will most likely end up losing all its league games just like last year. Just dont start making up excuses on why you lost, face it LA is and will always be better than Wilson.
All this talk about Damien's schedule and how it will prepare you for league. Are you kidding me Fred!
Gano is a media who## and you need to quit putting this bum on stage! He sucks and so does Damien..
One win against WHO?
I was at the Workman La Puente game with my grandparents who went to La Puente. We sat on the Workman side which is usually La Puentes side just because it was easier for them to access the stands.
To the administration of both schools but especially La Puente.I have noticed the last couple of times the JV team or other sit in the stands and yell Workman SUCKS or any other teams name there. It always (insert name here) SUCKS. I was so embarrassed.
La Puente students start showing some class and quit being such a bunch of ghetto trash with your damn mouthes. And when the band plays the National Anthem just shut up and quit cussing.
The Administration needs to address this because it is really embarrassing to have students being totally vulgar like that.
Actually, Azusa's final score was AZUSA 34; Sierra Vista 13.
Dan and Homegrown Player,
South Hills is the King of Cameron this year!
They completely shut your West Covina team down. It looked like the West Covina line was tired in the 1st half and if not for a long kick-off return I think Ricky Johnson would have had negative yards on the night.
It could have been a lot uglier if S Hills converted all of their red zone opportunities.
Good luck the rest of the way!
Go Huskies!
Chino Hills 38-6 over Damien it was such a beatdown. Damien comes out out the gates down 31-0 going into the half of their 1st league game at home against a rival, what the heck is goin on???? It was horrible. Guillen doesnt have a chance with that line and when he does nothing works. Saenz no rush yards he was getting hit once he got the ball, defense played bad. Horrible night at Damien they didnt have a chance in the world. I am disgusted, start Matt Hernandez at QB, the honeymoon is over Gano, Glendora will smash us next week, IM out
Wow I'm glad you are alright it seems like you were right in the middle of those animals? lol
No really you should be a reporter you seem to have all the info, you interviewed all the right people and even got a good look at the LA admin laughing. Now if you only got pics/video you would be really good.
Too bad you couldn't just come on here and talk about the game.
Good Job on the game LA, and good luck to Wilson on the reat of the season.
27 to 6 Ouch! nice game Huskies.
HAHAH GOOD ONE MUSTANGS PRIDE,u guys talk alot but cant back it up, id like to see any of ur players break a collar bone and still play, smallnuts need to grow a pair and admit that they suck, and yea leanard rhodes is OVERATED,couldnt even score, big for nothing
Aubrey Coleman #88 from walnut is a B!tch first a facemask than a late hit. Now we know the real smallnuts and they still lost even without our starting qb.
Mustang Pride,
Way to exhibit the same class and pride as Rhodes. He quit on his team after breaking Ball's collarbone on a dirty play. Pretty much says everything you need to know about Walnut. Have fun finishing 6-4 and missing the playoffs. Again.
At the LA/Wilson game, man they almost had to call in the police. LA security incharge of controlling the LA kids decided to let their kids on the field before the game was over. A big fight broke out between the LA players and students against the Wilson players. Punches were thrown, at least one kid was bleeding. I heard the Wilson school administration was pissed. The LA administration just laughed about it. LA security said they forgot to lock the gate when they broght the wheel on the field. The only problem with that is that they chased the kids off the field once and then decided to leave the gate unlocked again.
ROWLAND SUCKS!!! LITTLE QB COULDNT PLAY CAUSE OF A FACEMASK?!?! BOOHOO THATS WHY THE GAMES CALLED FOOTBALL. LEONARD RHODES OVERRATED? HAHHAHA GOOD ONE.
What would someone like COChargerfan know about Orange Lutheran and Mater Dei! LMAO!

The battle between the Undefeated Cupcake Schedule.
Both teams 5-0 but against who.
Have to Pick Rowland here, Walnut just does not convince me that they are that strong beyond Rhodes. Altho they are at home for this, Walnut still wets the bed tonite as Rowland scares the Bo-Jesus out of them physically.
Rowland 42
Walnut 24
PREDICTION A LITTLE OFF BUT THIS WAS THE TRUTH. WALNUT STINKS!
hey Walnut Honk,
i believe we just whooped your ass without michael ball
just thought i'd let you know :)
WOOOOOOOT!!! ROWLAND 1-0 UNDEFEATED SMALLNUTs 5-1, o yea and leanord rhodes is OVERATED! hes big yea but other than that hes small inside, and well number 88 for walnut, man that guy just pisses me off, facemask and he injured michael ball for the season..WOW!walnut was way to desperate and still lost....maybe next year SMALLNUTS
hey Walnut Honk,
i believe we just whooped your ass without michael ball
just thought i'd let you know :)
Who's the "Big Dog" on Cameron Ave ?
SOUTH HILLS HUSKIES
I could have swore I saw Barry White alive roaming the Workman sidelines tonight.
Nice job La Puente!
31-7
COChargerfan-watching Mater Dei v Orange Lutheran on Fox. What a bunch of "skinny-armed" high school kids!!! HAHAHA! - THIS is real HS football at the highest level! MD has a receiver that's the real deal and makes all the SGV guys look slow and small. One of these teams will have 3 or 4 losses when the nights over. It's not the record gentlemen (you too COChargerfan) it's who you play!
Impressive win for Rowland over Walnut 27-7. Not impressive because Walnut was really exposed tonight as at best an average team, but impressive that they lost Michael Ball (maybe for the season) on the first offensive series on a cheap shot by #88 on Walnut (one of three times he grabbed and yanked hard on facemasks in the first quarter). Rowland just ran the ball down the Mustang's throats the rest of the game and didn't give up much on defense either.
If Ball's out I think Rowland might move down to the #3 team in league because the offense becomes pretty one dimensional but still it was a gutsy win.
The kings of Cameron.......SOUTH HILLS
where's "anonymass" now?
Bishop Amat's reserves are in...
The Slime got their buttocks handed to them as expected...
BISHOP AMAT 38, SLIME 6
SANCHEZ SCORES TD!!!
this game is over...
at this point you've gotta say the special teams performances game after game are no accident. VaTech makes a killing on this and is yearly in the NCAA topr ten playing "Beamer Ball".
Is this "Hags Ball?"
Los Altos wins 54 to 17
ALEXANDER RAGSDALE JUST BROKE THE BISHOP AMAT RECORD FOR LONGEST FIELD GOAL IN LANCER HISTORY AT 49 YARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LANCERS 31, SLIME 6
DARIEN JOHNSON RUNS THE OPENING KICKOFF OF THE SECOND HALF 85 YARDS FOR THE TD!!!!!!!!!!
LANCERS 28, SLIME 6
Damien losing 31-0 at half to Chino Hills. They are asleep at the wheel. What happened to this team tonight? Terrible performance. Gano obviously not there yet with this team
Bishop Amat-21 St. Paul-6. Halftime. Jay Anderson 22yd run.
Michael Ball. Done for season. Broken collar bone.
Bishop Amat-14 St. Paul-0. Darian Johnson returns a blocked fieldgoal for a touchdown. Kid continues to make big plays.
AMAT SCORES - keep us posted.
Rio Ruiz recovered fumble and returned it for TD!!!
AMAT 7, SLIME 0
Well at least Amat knows who they are playing with for the rest of the year.
Request denied today!
If you're going to the St Paul-Amat game you had better get there early. I know that line is almost allways put out there, but I seem to remember the last time we were there that the place was packed and I had to walk a vewy long way to even get a parking space.
Anyway, see you all there and good luck Lancers !
In our little league we call the Mission Valley, we have two teams that always place either 1st or 2nd in league Arroyo and rosemead. Arroyo will b!tch slap rosemead tonight, like they have been used to in the past. Last year Rosemead beat us up, this year it will be the complete opposite. We will wipe the floor with them on their own field.
Glade to see the minister of misinformation is up and running
Go BULLDOGS!!!
Be fierce and Be smart, bring your best game and bring it over and over all night long! This is where it all starts, right here tonight!!
LP Warriors are ready to put the Smashdown the the weakman Lobos!!!
Let's Go Warriors!!!

GO LANCERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this just in...
Covina 21
Baldwin Park 16.
At the beginning of the year I threw a quick reply when the first rankings were out and Covina was at the bottom looking up. I wrote that Covina will finish at the top of the mid section at #11. We are a group of Soph's that can play. All pre season teams we played at one point were ranked ahead of us and we proved we could play with the (smaller) big boys. League starts today and a new season for us. The Sophs have 6 games of experience and because of the lacking of big names in Valle Vista this year we will finish with a minum tied for 1st. San Dimas remains the toughest in the league. Pomona looked very vunerable in last nights win. They don't have the athletes to stop the spread. Go Colts.
This is teh perfect game for CO to start Golden in the backfield and pound the rock! Adam is very good but Golden is well different. Put Adam out in th open on flanker screens and watch him do his thing.
CO had talent and speed yet plays a deliberate style. The best way to bring a Soph. QB up to speed is open up thr running game, move the pocket from side to side and allow him to use all his talents.
Too many athlete snot to bust open more games....same thing happened last year when Allen would throw maybe 20 passed all nigt instead of 20 per half.
Let's them PLAY!!!!!
Walnut was a c--t hair away from losing to Covina and got really tested against a loser in Sonora. These are the Rowland Raiders not the Sonora Raiders. Rowland wins this game without a doubt. Walnuts Record may look good on paper but they are a Tiger without teeth. When push comes to shove they cannot match up and get the old deer in the headlights look of fear. Rhodes and King are decent but it takes more then that when you go against a quality opponent. Walnut will cheese up tonite, that has always been their M.O...Walnut credit goes to the Band they are good.
Maybe they should play that song "King Of The Rhode" get it?
The Freshman game was a great game! Anytime we can beat the Slime is a good time!!!! Our Freshman team struggled but ultimately brought home the "W". That defensive unit is pretty solid but we need more production out of our offense for those tight games. Keep bringing home the wins boys! Good job by the JV's too. Varsity - time for the big boys to go out and complete the sweep! Go Lancers!!!!!!!!!!
I don't know what to expect tonight after being ahead for so long in the Smudgepot and then snatching defeat from the jaws of victory or so last week seemed.
What we have is CO, they are ranked in the Times Top 25...they aren't what they were last year but make no mistake they are at least one of the top four in this division. Those RBs make me feel scared because they are good.
This is going to be a pride game, it will really determine what the Bearcats have left, do I see a victory...not so sure because if I was neutral I'd pick the Chargers. What I do want to see is the Bearcats limit mistakes and play well, for them to play their best game of the season. Do that and we'll know which way this ship is heading...and I'm thinking up river.
Go BEARCATS!
Walnut vs. Rowland is the game tonight. How many times have both teams been 5-0 at this juncture in the season? Who cares about the schedules, both teams have beaten who they were supposed to beat and now it's showtime.
I think Walnut will surprise everyone tonight. It's Ball against "MaxPreps League Stat leaders"; Walnut has the leagues top passer (twice as many yards as Ball), two of the three top running backs, three of the top five recievers, leading kick returner, and two of the three top tacklers. Of course these are statistical leaders, not the "best" at every position league wide.
Rowland hasn't faced a team this diverse and if Walnut takes the reins off Cooper, Rowland will be going home 0-1 in league play.
Boooooyaaah!
LETS GO WALNUT!!
Fred,
WTF I almost had blog relapse, I literally didn't know what to do, if I couldn't comment. Thank goodness its back up and running. League sucks lets just hurry up and get to playoffs. CO will steam roll through league.
Amat JV Fb score: 12-6.
Early Prediction
Chino Hills 28
Damien 17
Stay Tuned
WE ARE GOING TO BEAT DOWN ON OUR LOSER RIVALS!
WE DO IT EVERY YEAR!!!!
GET READY FOR SOME HURT!!!!!
NO WHEEL AGAIN FOR YOU THIS YEAR!!!
YOU GUYS DON'T HAVE THE TALENT TO GO UP AGAINST US!!
GO LA!!!!!!
Lance R,
It was a great game won by Amat 32-30. In the 1st half there were back to back to back kick offs returned for TDs.
JV also won I think 13-0.
Lance R,
This game is just as tough as any we have had up to this point.I have seen weaker st slime teams then this one put up a hell of battle against us so anything is possible . This is the slime and they will be fired up like no other time to make a huge statement. I agree in the fact the we should put up the W but we still have to go out stay focused and fire on all cylinders and no mistakes or take them for granted. Good luck to the Men in Blue tonight and make us proud. I got to tell you the slime pit will be rockin tonight and the field will be surrounded with fans .
Rowland / Walnut
The battle between the Undefeated Cupcake Schedule.
Both teams 5-0 but against who.
Have to Pick Rowland here, Walnut just does not convince me that they are that strong beyond Rhodes. Altho they are at home for this, Walnut still wets the bed tonite as Rowland scares the Bo-Jesus out of them physically.
Rowland 42
Walnut 24
Another Amat (W). St. Paul is not getting the players in the area like they used to. Even tho the old man is steering the ship once again, these are not 70's. Hagerty and staff will out coach him, also look for Darian Johnson to have another big nite as the Lancers continue to roll. Great game from a rivalry standpoint but a yawner like last weeks Diamond Ranch game. Anyone know the freshman score from yesterday concerning these two schools.?
Tonites Prediction:
Bishop Amat 28
St. Paul 7
Workman 35 Lp 14
Go Lobos!
WC v SH is the game to see hands down. We will prove once again who the REAL Kings of Cameron are! WESTCO-VINA
You gotta love it. League play is finally here. San Antonio match-up will be intereting. I don't know which game to attend. The WC-SH game is a long standing bitter rival game, but the Wal-Row game is between the 2 top ranked teams in the division. Both WC and SH have played better competition, so both of them are battle tested. Wal and Row have been able to beat up on lesser competition so I kind of wonder about their toughness. Walnut did struggle last week vs a physical team so we will see how they respond. Ball may be the deciding factor in this game. WC is getting healthy just in time. If they can avoid the big mistake, South Hills could be looking at an 0-1 start to league.
SGV430 Ouuut!!
