Thursday night: Azusa will host Covina at Citrus; Diamond Ranch at Burroughs

| | Comments (17) |

Because Glendora is playing a home game against Rancho Cucamonga in the first round of the Central playoffs on Friday, Azusa will host Covina on Thursday at Citrus College at 7 p.m., in a Mid-Valley Division first-round game. Diamond Ranch also has been moved to Thursday against Burroughs at 7:30 p.m. I don't know about you, but this is a good thing. We can make them much bigger games and the Valley can get out and watch a playoff football on Thursday night.

Is Covina gonna be able to pull off the upset with 6 or 7 players suspended for the 1st round because they left the bench in the scuffle against Northview? Several starters on this list...

Bold Predictions said:

A couple of bold predictions here,
Not only am I going to pick the Aztecs to win big on their home field, I think the Montview league could go 3-1, while VVL goes 1-2. I don't think La Puente and Gladstone are too far behind Azusa, and I like all three to win their matchups, even though La Puente got a tough draw.
Good luck to all the Montview teams in the playoffs, I know you can represent the changing face of the league this week.

AZUSA FANS!

I don't know if you realize that Fred and Steve have AZUSA projected to win! Last year he had AZUSA losing to Covina, but we proved EVERYBODY wrong on this BLOG! Fred's pretty hot right now with his predictions, and he's almost 100% accurate! But we won't get ahead of ourselves and will wait until GAME TIME BABY!!! AZUSA, I don't know about you right now, but i'm pretty excited and proud to be an AZTEC fan. Man it's great to see these AZTECS winning right now and the COACHES. Some of these coaches have waited along time for this, and to be BACK TO BACK LEAGUE CHAMPIONS is something to be very PROUD OF! CHAMPIONSHIPS don't happened all to often and this I believe brings pride to the City of AZUSA! It's a great feeling to (especially see)some of these kids playing that I remember playing at Memorial Park! and now playing as Seniors! I remember LITTLE JESSE now playing for Gladstone, and his MOTHER would be watching every game at the park. So lets wish Little Jesse well in the playoffs and to all the kids from AZUSA! I almost forgot to mentioned SAINEZS, the halfback from DAMIEN who also played for the AZUSA RAIDERS, a few years back and wish DAMIEN well also!

So Mayor ROCHA, get ready to give up the KEYS to the CITY and hand them over to the COACHES of the SEASON!!! THE AZUSA AZTECS MONTVIEW LEAGUE CHAMPIONS! BACK TO BACK!

Can I vote this mom over at CO, I think she is the biggest supporter, she even has a bag with a name and number. Or is that only for BA moms?

An award for scout D? It is almost like the quinceneras that have a padrino for everything.
Padrino for napkins, padrino for the forks. Some of you guys crack me up.

Hey Fred,
I'm not sure who all of these coaches are, but while were on the topic, do you think theres any chance a coach from the montview league might get coach of the year this year. Azusa, La Puente and Gladstone are doing far better than expected with less to work with. If any of them are able to make a run here in the post season, would they be COY, or is that honor only designated for BA, CO, SD, Rovia, etc...?

I would like to nominate Paul Flores as Scout team coach of the year. He runs a heck of a scout team!

That is absolutely fantastic news to a football junkie like me, because prior to this announcement, I was going to make that long trek out to LA to see Crenshaw play. Now, I don’t have to make that long drive out there just to catch a game.

Unfortunately, I have not had a chance to see Covina play this year so I don’t really know what they are going to bring to the table, however I have been fortunate to have seen Azusa play a few weeks ago and let me tell you, these guys are the real deal this time around.

Should be a good game, but the one negative thing that I have to say about Citrus is that they have a very strange layout for their football stadium. If any of you have ever been there before, I’m sure that most of you would agree that the way it is configured is kind of dangerous.

The stadium was built in a very steep angel going up and if you should just happen to lose your footing (like an elderly gentleman did last week at Kiefer) then it could be lights out real fast out there !!

Thursday night lights, great location...it is a must see for all SGV. I know we (both teams) are not the game of the week in many eyes however take look at some of the exciting games Covina has been involved in and I am sure you have read the explosive team on both sides of the ball the Aztecs bring. I actually can't wait, I know Covina remembers the game last year.

Stay true to the shoe!

YES!
I'm going to second coach Beetle as defensive coach of the year...
Good Job Beetle!

AZUSA AZTECS, lets come out and support our AZTECS on Thursday night! (BIG TIME)!!!. Just like we did against gladstone. All of AZUSA is supporting you and GOOD LUCK!

Fred thanks for all your support this season and it's been another GREAT SEASON! You had us not winning the League this year, but we keep proving you wrong! Fred, you've got to consider COACH SCHERF for (COY)! He's done a fantastic job and has the city full of AZTEC PRIDE! LOL...

COACH BETTLE, DEFENSIVE COACH OF THE YEAR! Man your defensive looks very fast this year!

AZTECS, MONTVIEW LEAGUE CHAMPIONS!

BACK TO BACK!

AZTEC PRIDE!
