Bracketology: The Scouting Guru's Friday update

| | Comments (3) |

The Scouting Guru has been all over the San Gabriel Valley and beyond, and like always, he's offered to share his thoughts, free of charge. Don't hate, enjoy it for what it's worth, which is one man's opinion on the talent and teams in the San Gabriel Valley and surrounding areas.

For the Scouting Guru's breakdown, click this thread ....

Southeast Division
Thursday night Results
Del Rio League

Santa Fe 35, Pioneer 7
Whittier 24, El Rancho 7

Scenarios: If La Serna defeats Cal Hi tonight, La Serna takes second place on tie breaker and Santa Fe is the third place team. If Cal Hi wins, there is a three way tie for second and coin flip will have to be used to determine the second and third place teams
Pacific League
Crescenta Valley 42, Arcadia 13

Scenario: None. Crescenta Valley will be the third place team from the Pacific League into the playoffs.

Well, this could be a very long night for Santa Fe. They could end up a second place team, a third place or...that's right, they may not make the playoffs. What a way to end up the season. If Santa Fe is the third place team, here is what the brackets could very well look like...this is of course is predicated that South Hills and Schurr win their games tonight...

Top Seeds
1) Charter Oak
2) South Hills
3) Schurr
4) Winner of Burroughs v. Burbank game tonight

Top Bracket

(1) Charter Oak (Miramonte 1)
Winner of Pasadena/Muir (Pacific 4)

La Serna or Whittier (Del Rio 2)
Rowland (San Antonio 3)

West Covina (San Antonio 2)
San Gabriel (Almont 2)

(4) Winner of Burroughs v. Burbank (Pacific 1)
Santa Fe (Del Rio 3)

Bottom Bracket

(3) Schurr (Almont 1)
Bonita (Miramonte 3)

California (Del Rio 1)
Crescenta Valley (Pacific 3)

Loser of Burbank v. Burroughs (Pacific 2)
Diamond Ranch (Miramonte 2)

Alhambra (Almont 3)
(2) South Hills (San Antonio 1)

This would be a very nice sent up for Charter Oak and West Covina fans as if they play each other, it would be in the semifinals and not the quarterfinals. If Santa Fe wins, Alhambra would be considered one of the weaker teams in the division and thus would be slotted against South Hills....

Central Division

Wow, we were at the Rancho Cucamonga vs. Etiwanda game last night and all I can say is, WHAT A FINISH!!!!

With the loss, Rancho Cucamonga loses not only the overall second seed in the division but will be slotted as the third place team in the division. Which means Upland will most likely get the wild card spot available.

As of this moment, here is what the top seeds would look like....

1) Colton
2) Colony
3) Elsinore
4) Los Osos

Keep in mind that in the Sunbelt League that there is a three way tie for first and all those teams are projected to win tonight so their would be a coin flip for first, second and third. This bracket accounts for Elsinore winning the flip. And we all know what is going on in the Sierra. I am projecting the order of finish as Glendora, Chino Hills, Damien, though I do not know the results of the coin flip. Ayala will file for an at-large birth and will most likely lose to Upland...

Top Bracket

(1) Colton (San Andreas 1)
West Valley or Paloma Valley (Sunbelt 3)

Glendora (Sierra 1)
Upland (Wildcard - Baseline 4)

Chaffey (Mt. Baldy 2)
West Valley/Paloma Valley (Sunbelt 2)

(4) Los Osos (Baseline 1)
Loser of Arroyo Valley/San Bernardino Cajon (San Andreas 3)

Bottom Bracket

(3) Elsinore (Sunbelt 1)
Rancho Cucamonga (Baseline 3)

Chino Hills (Sierra 2)
Don Lugo (Mt. Baldy 3)

Winner of Arroyo Valley/SB Cajon (San Andreas 2)
Etiwanda (Baseline 2)

(2) Colony (Mt. Baldy 1)
Damien (Sierra 3)

This will be updated tonight after all games are reported in.

Mr. Guru, Mr. Guru can you come out to play?

The person I am REALLY waiting to weigh in: Mr. SGV Scouting/'GURU'.

Before the season you LED the charge on how Amat was gonna be 'lucky' to win THREE games. Can't wait to read the 'analysis' from you the SO CALLED 'EXPERT'.

Or will we be treated to the USUAL 'GURU' stonewall?
