Pac-5 Division
Lakewood 34, Bishop Amat 17 — Bishop Amat had a chance to extend the lead up 17-13 in the third quarter, but missed a field goal and never got the momentum back. Still, this is a season Lancers fans will never forget.
Southeast Division
Charter Oak 35, West Covina 10 — West Covina had five turnovers, but Charter Oak was too good regardless. Muema rushed for 142 yards and two TDs, and Santiago threw for 208 yards and two TDs.
California 24, Burbank 21 — The Condors will be a tough foe at Charter Oak next week.
Diamond Ranch 33, Schurr 27 — The Panthers are amazing come playoff time, just throw their record out the window and get out of the way. Next week they get South Hills at Covina District, a rematch of last years second-round Panthers win over the Huskies.
South Hills 33, Crescenta Valley 23 — The Huskies raced to a big lead then cruised home. They’re a win away from a possible dream final with Charter Oak.
Mid-Valley Division
Monrovia 14, Paraclete 3 — Congrats M-Town, see you in the final against San Dimas…or uh, Azusa?
Whittier Christian 27, Baldwin Park 17 — Who would have thought the last Olympic League team standing would be these guys, not Paraclete or Valley Christian.
Azusa 27, San Marino 24 — Wow, on to the semifinals for the first time in school history. It just gets better and better under second-year coach Joe Scherf.
San Dimas 37, Cerritos Valley Christian 14 — Another convincing win for the Saints, setting up a semifinal against Azusa.

When high school football teams gather in the spring and regroup in the summer, one of the biggest goals throughout camp is practicing on Thanksgiving, which eight area teams have the privilege of doing today after advancing to the second round of the CIF-Southern Section divisional playoffs. For South Hills, practicing on Thanksgiving is almost a tradition. The Huskies haven’t missed a second-round appearance this decade, and have advanced to the second round 16 of the last 17 years.
The last Thanksgiving practice the Huskies missed was in 1998, and prior to that was 1992. To continue reading click thread

The list is a who’s who of some of the best running backs in the area over the past decade. It includes Jason David, Patrick Fuller, Aaron Capers and Kanaan Snowden.
All former Charter Oak High School tailbacks.
It’s not lost on the Chargers’ Adam Muema, the latest protege for what is becoming Tailback High School. “He’s also one of our better historians of Charter Oak football,” said Charter Oak coach Lou Farrar, who coached all the above and more. “Since he was a sophomore, he’s taken home all the game films of the previous running backs and watched them all. He knows every move, watched all the big plays from those guys. He wants to know more about the guys who came before him.” To continue, click thread

For the past month the Bishop Amat football team has dealt with some of the best quarterbacks in the Southland, including Loyola’s Jerry Neuheisel, Crespi’s Bryan Bennett, Notre Dame’s Ryan Kasdorf and Mater Dei’s Matt Wittek. But none of them compare to the test the Lancers (10-1) will get on Friday in their Pac-5 Division quarterfinal against No. 4 Lakewood (10-1) at 7 p.m. As far as Lakewood coach Thadd MacNeal is concerned, third-year starting quarterback, Jesse Scroggins, who chose USC over other high- profile schools such as Florida and Tennessee, is among the best anywhere. AMAT TICKET UPDATE: Bishop Amat has sold out of their allotted tickets for Friday’s game at Lakewood. Anyone wanting a ticket should show up early to Lakewood and buy from the box office before they sell out and close the gates. Otherwise, follow it with us on COVERITLIVE with my cousin Mike (an Amat alum).

Don’t want to alarm you Amat fan, but this is some impressive stuff

The Long Beach Press Telegram has a thread on the Bishop Amat-Lakewood game. They point out that Bishop Amat is 8-1 all-time against the other Lancers, which includes Bishop Amat’s infamous 1970 championship, when they were led by future USC and Rams quarterback Pat Haden.
