Super 32: There is no 8-1 like Bishop Amat's 8-1, the Lancers keep top ranking; CIF polls also here

Tribune Top Ten
1. Bishop Amat (8-1) - Those expecting the Lancers to drop after their first loss of the season have short memories. Let me remind you, St. Bonaventure, Alemany, Damien, Diamond Ranch, West Covina, St. Paul. Show me another school with a resume of victories like that. Exactly.
2. Charter Oak (8-1) - Okay, so Charter Oak needs to beat Los Altos to win the Miramonte outright and lock down the No. 1 seed in the Southeast. That's a done deal, the real compelling question is will they earn their fourth straight shutout and goose the league.
3. South Hills (7-2) - The most improved team since mid-season. They have put the Canada drama behind, the players are in the right spots and they're playing with an extreme confidence. I know West Covina knocked them off to force a three-way title last year. Rowland won't do it this year.
4. San Dimas (8-1) - With Monrovia and Paraclete expected to be No. 1 and No. 4 respectively in the Mid-Valley, the Saints desperately want to hang on to their No. 2 ranking, which would be a much better path toward the divisional title.
5. Baldwin Park (8-1) -- They have heard all season that San Dimas is better. They have heard the logic, that Bonita beat B.P., and San Dimas beat Bonita. None of that matters to the Braves, though. They believe the Valle Vista title is theirs to lose.
6. West Covina (5-4) - Still not ranked in the Southeast, so let me repeat what I said last week: With everyone doing their mock brackets, the Bulldogs are the team everyone desperately wants to avoid in the playoffs. CIF doesn't factor strength of schedule when determining rankings, but potential opponents no better.
7. Rowland (8-1) - I know they only have one loss and are the third-ranked team in the Southeast, which makes their finale against the No. 2 Huskies for the league title a blockbuster on paper. But lets be honest, it would be a total shocker if the Raiders upset South Hills.
8. Damien (4-5) -- Spartans coaches probably hate when I say this, but there is no way they're losing to winless Chino in the finale at home Thursday. Coach Gano is going to at least share the Sierra league title in his first year there, and if they can earn the league's No. 1 entry, they might actually win a round or two in the playoffs.
9. Glendora (6-3) -- After what they did to Chino Hills you have to ask what they would have been like if they had a healthy Andre Holmes for four quarters against Damien. Well, it doesn't matter, the Tartans compete for their playoff lives against Ayala on Thursday. It's pretty simple, win or stay home.
10. Azusa (8-1) -- When the Aztecs beat Workman on Friday, they will have gone undefeated in the most competitive Montview in years. With a No. 3 ranking in the Mid-Valley, how far can they actually advance? Depending on the draw, I can surely picture them in the semifinals.
The Middle 10
11. Arroyo (7-2), 12. Walnut (7-2), 13. La Puente (7-2), 14. Diamond Ranch (3-6), 15. Gladstone (7-2), 16. Bonita (3-6), 17. Workman (6-3), 18. Rosemead (4-5), 19. Los Altos (3-6), 20. Covina (4-5)
On the bottom looking up
21. Pomona (5-4), 22. South El Monte (3-6), 23. Sierra Vista (4-5), 24. Wilson (2-7), 25. Nogales (2-7), 26. Bassett (3-6), 27. Diamond Bar (1-8), 28. Ganesha (1-8), 29. Northview (1-8), 30. El Monte (0-9), 31. Mountain View (0-9), 32. Duarte (0-9)
****CIF POLLS****
Southeast Division
1. Charter Oak, 2. South Hills, 3. Rowland, 4. Schurr, 5. Burbank, 6. Burroughs, 7. Crescenta Valley, 8. California, 9. Pasadena, 10. Walnut.
Mid-Valley Division
1. Monrovia, 2. San Dimas, 3. Azusa, 4. Baldwin Park, 5. Paraclete, 6. Arroyo, 7. Gladstone, 8. La Puente, 9. San Marino, 10. Valley Christian.
Pac-5 Division
1. Edison, 2. Mission Viejo, 3. Servite, 4. Notre Dame, 5. Lakewood, 6. Dana Hills, 7. Fountain Valley, 8. Bishop Amat, 9. Los Alamitos, 10. Crespi.
Central Division
1. Colton, 2. Rarncho Cucamonga, 3. Colony, 4. Elsinore, 5. Los Osos, 6. Chino Hills, 7. Arroyo Valley, 8. Etiwanda, 9. Glendora, 10. Upland.
Notre Dame pounded Bishop Amat 56-21 last year. Go ahead and watch if it's not too painful.

Los Altos actually did lose quite a bit, Brock Booth or Jacob Shirley could easily both be starting at SH. Unfortunately there's only one QB, Shirley and Booth both throw well. The only difference is Shirley can run the ball decently. Los Altos also lossed RB/DB Isaac Ramirez, which could've made a huge contribution for them this year. Now at SH doing a hell of a job on defense, and is one of ther best defensive players. They also lossed RB Jordan Gutierrez who is the best ELIGIBLE (Canada) RB at SH, which for some odd reason isn't playing this year. Last but not least we can't forget D1 offensive lineman Siaosi Aiono, a lineman of that size on Los Altos would've given the QB more time to throw and made Los Altos a much better team. Think about it, these four players at Los Altos....................... CO would've been lookin at film real good knowing it was gona be a good game.
Jose,
Your an idoit, you have no clue what you are talking about. As I stated in my comments, I will not be taking my kid to Wilson. The only thing I'am not sure of is who's coaching staff sucks more LA or Wilson. Two schools with 3-6 records going no where fast. Our freshmen staff is prety good, but our Varsity staff is clueless.
LA Freshman Parent:
I've heard nothing like what your talking about. As a matter a fact, you sound like someone that was talking alot of smack on the blogs before. Same things only we all know he is not a Los Altos parent.
Boy pick one name and stick with it lol (Concerned Hacienda Heights, Wilson Parent, etc And now LA Freshman Parent) Dude get a life and worry about your kid. Your team won't be in our league anymore.
Oh and by the way my son plays on that freshman team and I'm always there talking to the parents. Lol you are just too funny.
FRED;
THANKS FOR THE VOTE OF CONFIDENCE, BUT LETS NOT GET TO AHEAD OF OURSELVES!!! WORKMANS A PRETTY GOOD TEAM AND THERE'S NOTHING BETTER FOR THEM WITH AN UPSET OVER AZUSA, AND THIS WOULD PUT A GLITCH IN OUR LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP!
GOOD LUCK TO YOU AZUSA, AND PLAY HARD ON FRIDAY! COACH SHERF YOU HAD A BI-WEEK, SO YOU SHOULD BE WELL PREPARED!
AZTES PRIDE!
Los Altos didn't lose anything. Brock Booth is Garbage. He is third string behind a second string sophmore. Once his Dad stops taking Bogan out to lunch, brock will become an offensive lineman.
SD SAINTS, FOOTBALL, SOCCER, IT DONT MATTER, WE'LL BEAT U GUYS LIKE USUAL. AND DONT BRING UP SOCCER, WITH SCORES LIKE 11-0 AND 12-1.
ACTUALLY OUR SOCCER TEAM IS PROBABLY MORE PHYSICAL THAN YOUR FOOTBALL TEAM. SO BE READY, CUZ THE PAISAS WILL BE ANXIOUS FOR U CREAMPUFFS.
GO BRAVES !!!!
AND GET IT RIGHT, WERE NOT PAISAS, OUR PARENTS ARE.
rgd2626 - I agree. So much talk about a team that has finished the last 5 regular seasons: 4-6, 4-6, 2-8, 4-6, 2-8
Brown&Down,
The saints are coming, the saints are coming.
Baldwin Park Paisas we are going to expose you just like that crappy Bonita team exposed you. This will be a runaway game, you guys can't handle the big time games, Shot you guys can't even handle the a first round of playoffs. Another W for the saints. Don't forget BP Paisas to bring your football cleats and not your soccer cleats. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA
Brown&Down,
What are you a proctologist. Good Luck this week, but don't think you scare anyone on this blog. BP is a good team that has played some bad teams on your way to your 8-1 record. Good luck Mr Brown! Hopefully you will need it! Don't get all butt hurt, you started the BS.
WP
those are just my opinions about both schools, right or wrong thats how i feel, and your right, its going to be a long haul for LA, but i for one do not give DR as much credit as most on here, i have said it before and ill say it again, DR-most over-rated over-hyped team in a long time!
As far as your son, i dont let dissagrements or differrences of opinion effect my thoughts or what i say.As you know i Totally disagree with you about Greg, and by the way(not doing to bad without d-1players this year.)But i allways tell the truth, and the truth is your son is a hard nosed tough kid. That is not easy to be when your on a team not doing well.I hope all or most of the name calling mud-throwing is over between the two schools, and i mean that on both sides, because this game is good for the kids , the area and the sgv.
Get ready for the ass kicking san dimas. We hate you, and it will show Friday. some of your kids will be hurting real bad after game.
RGD2626,
That one win was Diamoond Bar not Walnut.
I will answer that question Brook Booth the junior qp at South Hills was the starting qp his freshmen year at LA. Not sure who is starting over at South Hills but I do know he was the starter at the beginning of the year. From that same year the starting RB, and a linemen transferred over. The linemen is a D1 prospect. Another LA varsity starting RB transferred over to South Hills this summer. Seems to be a connection with the LA kids and transferring to South Hills. I heard talk of a few more kids this year that are going to transfer over to South Hills. Since it hasn't happen not going to give names.
fwiw-didn't Los Altos lose some transfer QB's, one to South Hills, that would still be there and help?
Zero talent at qb is going to hurt both LA, and Wilson over the next two years (plus?). More so LA, being that they are in a tougher league/division.
rgd2626,
If you look at Wilson's starting offense just about whole starting offense is returning for another year, four of them are only sophomores. With the league re-alignment how can you expect LA to even make the playoffs.
Bonita - maybe
Diamond Bar - maybe
Diamond Ranch - no way
Rowland - no way
Walnut - maybe
West Covina - no way
Their is no way that with the kids LA has they are going to compete with DR, Rowland and West Covina next year. I personally think the only team you are going to have a shot at is Walnut, playoffs no way. I would say that Felipe is going to soften up your pre-season schedule but how much softer can he get it.
Now how can you even compare this years Wilson team to last years team and come up with this years team is worse. Last years team had more talent, one of the best running backs in the valley and won one game. This years team had basicly the same schedule and won three games, do the math.
By the way thanks for the positive comment about my son, that's a first from a LA supporter.
baby? you picked that name right. not man enough to step up and face some real comp. you take your rings - of which you have fewer and Amat will take preparing their kids for college and national respect. Maybe if you win back to back the Times will send a reporter this time. If not - you can submit it to the Highlander and they can put it right next to the Charter Oak Pony league articles!
just saying. And you can keep losing and not winning anything while our school keeps winning titles. Wanna see my ring??
BigDog... Hands down huh...
Can you tell me which 5 teams Diamond Ranch would beat hands down, I just can't find em,
I see maybe 1 or 2 up there and thats a maybe but hands down? nahhh.
SD and BP...please beat the snot out of each other. I don't want to see a soft game.
Reality Check -would you rather be on that field on a Friday night and compete against that kind of competition - or would you rather play some 2-9 team with no players that will ever play beyond HS and beat them 42-0? I'd rather compete and take my licks against the big bully and find out I need to get better next time than kick the little kid down the streets ass. I know where I'll find you.
After having seen both Wilson and Los Altos, Los Altos is nowhere near where they once were and it doesn't look like they'll be getting back there. Remember rgd2626, 2002 and 2003 back to back D6 titles. I was a Frosh when they steam rolled through the Miramonte the 2003 season and Bonita went 2-8 with so many injuries they had brought up four guys from the my Freshman team and were thinking about bringing up Jeff Chavez. But even if Bonita had been healthy that year Los Altos would have still done what it would have done.
Wilson looks like it's on the right track all be it a long one, it will take years to get that program back on its feet. Los Altos is on much better feet than Wilson is, but it appears as far as the Coaching is concerned it's not where you guys as fans want it to be. I have no doubt that once you guys get the coach you want there things will turn around much faster than they will over at Wilson.
I also still can't believe how much hype Diamond Ranch is still receiving.
Make every excuse you can for last year's debacle but the bottom line last year's highlights look like a team that was outperformed athlete for athlete and coach for coach. Literally Bishop Amat was outclassed by a Norte Dame team that just played at an entirely different level. I hope too the outcome is different because if last year's game is any indication of what's going to happen this year than Bishop Amat is in for a long night. That is downright embarrassing and by FredJ posting that image Bishop Amat no longer has a mystique or a swagger to me. You may be big time in our Valley but your a whooped puppy compared to the big dogs in Southern California. I won't be surprised now by Bishop Amat not be chosen for the at large berth because based on that performance and scheduling teams like St. Paul, West Covina, and Diamond Ranch this year absolutely teams like Los Alamitos and Newport Harbor just are apples to oranges. Good luck Bishop Amat because you need it including some divine intervention. Ouch! You Bishop Amat fans really should reconsider your delusional takes seriously! That was sickening to watch! God's speed!
LAFP
It could be worse, you could be at Wilson. There team is Pathetic.I never thought they could be worse than last year, but they are, and its not looking to good in the future with the talent they have over there.
Allthough i must admit GRI's kid is a tough kid, props to him.
Bravetown: Thanks for the comments. I agree totally with you. I BP's toughness is never questions, sometimes what they are doing is weird but that is it. SD needs to win this game to put everyone to rest.
SD Fans: Bonita, Pomona, and Covina are soft. IF SD wants to put all softness issues to bed, they need to show up toe to toe with BP and hit. IF they can do that I think no one can say anything negative about SD ever again.
Can my Giants sneak out a win this week like they did vs. Northview??? I'll be praying.
As I watched this video it reminds me of that day last season. If you remember we had a little controversy on game day, benched a very important starter - and that messed with the Lancers mojo a bit. Then ND came out and smacked them in the mouth and we didn't respond so well.
It's a different year and I would say, that we are where we are at today because of that day. Kids better understand the commitment necessary, down to the most minute detail, and what the coaching staff stands for. You take adversity like that and learn from it.
I think the Lancers have.
This program is a mess. The talk around the school is Coach A is gone, this move came way to late. The program is going to take years to recover from.
Now their is talk about a bunch of our freshmen kids in all sports are illegal. The parents talking about it are saying it is true. The coaches told the kids to use false addresses and now the school is being investigated by the district.
Looks like we are going to have another mass exist this summer. My kid is one of them this program is going no where fast. I will tell you this much Wilson isn't an option, they coaching staff is just as weak.
Bravetown, SGV,
SD is always questioned on toughness.... Ask Pomona, Covina, Bonita, etc etc on how tough they are. As I see it, we smacked Bonita and you guys lost to them. If you want to compare wins and losses then there you go. SD will bring it on friday. I can't wait to hear the excuses come friday..... Good luck to both teams.
Fred
Is this video supposed to motivate BA.I watched ND smack a good team from Texas earlier this year and that's what there going to do to BA as well.
Witness & Hey CIF Inquiy,
Have not heard anything about trouble regarding Notre Dame Sherman Oaks, but you may be confusing it with Alemany getting in trouble over an inappropriate paragraph about their athletic program that stepped over the acceptable guidelines in a full page newspaper add for students . They will have a one-year sanction where NO transfers will be eligible without approval from the Commissioner himself. This is the second time in recent years that Alemany has been in hot water. The first was about a group meeting at Alemany in December '07, consisting of 17 youth-football players from Santa Clarita and their families.
And remember... they're coming into the Serra next year too.
The Funny thing is that if BP wins they get eliminated from playoffs first round, if SD wins they make it to the Semi's. No one in the mid valley fears BP, teams are more worried about stopping San Dimas, Monrovia, Paraclete, Arroyo. Yet no one fears BP, just like azusa, la puente or sierra vista. I guess thats what you have to expect when your program doesn't make playoffs, or is 1 and out like always.
bravetown, BP might think they are brave but the San Dimas saints will roll you guys.
FALLEN GIANT,
I THINK THE BRAVES WILL FEED OFF THE PLAYOFF TYPE ATMOSPHERE AT B.P. THIS FRIDAY. TOUGHNESS IS NEVER QUESTIONED AT B.P. THOSE BOYS CAN FLAT OUT HIT, AND HIT HARD. SAN DIMAS? TOUGHNESS WILL ALWAYS BE QUESTIONED UNTIL THEY CAN DEFEAT A SOLID, HARD HITTING FOOTBALL TEAM. THIS BRAVES TEAM IS AND HAS BEEN ON A MISSION ALL SEASON, I DONT SEE SAN DIMAS STOPPING THEM. I SEE A HARD FOUGHT, TOUGH B.P. WIN ON FRIDAY NIGHT. 24-14 BRAVES. B.P. ALWAYS MATCHES SAN DIMAS WELL, NOT MATTER THE CIRCUMSTANCES.
GO BRAVES !!!!
Gen Custer--I'm quite certain you would obliterate Walnut/Smallnut. I saw Azuza play last year, and they do have some heart. But on paper I think your team would win. However, you won't be facing either of those teams in the playoffs. Freds/Steves rankings are alittle whack. In the end or at this point in the season, the Tribune top 10 doesn't mean jack sh*t though, que no? You have bigger fish to fry my friend. And your team is no where near as good as last years ('09), much less the class of ('08).
SGV:
You are absolutely right. I feel that if SD beats BP then no one should be able to question their toughness period.
If they lose.... it is because they are soft, not because of lack of talent. The defense needs to show up and play physical. The offense needs to punish people. Nothing fancy in this game, the toughest boys will win. BP is tough..no doubt, but can SD play in this type of game? We shall see.
Bravetown what is your take?
All I can say is Walnut S U C K S......How can they be where they are at with losses to WC and Rowland, a blowout by SH. on top of that a creme puff schedule. Lets here it for their band tho. awesome. football team nothing but softies.
Hey CIF Inquiy, Where did you hear this info? Havent heard a peep about ND having to forfeit any games?
Hopefully NotreDame will not be able to run their normal offense, Looks like RAIN on thursday and friday. Lets get dirty!!!!!
I think trojan man should stick to selling condoms and not give his opinion on Football!!!
Has SD turned the corner as to how tough they are?? If they have, they win. If not they don't!
The Mid Valley rankings are OFF.I'll bet Arroyo gets futher than Azusa & Baldwin Park . NO RESPECT , just like Rosemead had VERY LITTLE respect last year . Monrovia is GOOD , but I STILL think that Paraclete is THE TEAM in the Mid Valley with Monrovia & San Dimas RIGHT THERE .San Dimas better strap it on from here on out.
GOOD LUCK RHS PANTHERS ...you'll need it !
Fight On
TM
Any Notre Dame Knights on this blog? Not sure if anyone knows but Notre Dame is currently being investigated. Maybe a Notre Dame alum could shed some details? Seems Notre Dame would have to forfeit 4 games from what I hearing. Anyone know how that impacts the playoffs?
Notre Dame gets rocked Friday night!
Damn now I know why the Amat fans have not taken the blog to over 100 hits. Notre Dame is coming to town. That video is brutal to watch, same thing will happen this year, just like last year. To bad their all CIF coaching staff couldn't stop Crespi, only imagine what the state player of the year will do to BA. Look what they did to Loyola 45-14 and crespi 23-21 no 50 yard field goal to win this one against BA. I'm predicting the usual running clock by the fourth quarter for BA.
Last week, Crespi's Oregon bound QB Bryan Bennett has a great game vs. Bishop Amat
This week, Amat has to face the 2008 Gatorade Player of the Year QB Ryan Kasdorf. He dismantled the Lancer's secondary last season. He has shown interest in Louisville, UNLV, and UCLA.
Life in the Serra and the Pac-5 is brutal.
Hey Sitting Bull... you still didn't answer the question. Thought So:)
Diamond Ranch is going to get a horrible draw and get smacked by either Burroughs or Burbank, it would have been better to be the 3 seed from the Miramonte.
The SD coach is right that the Saints can't beat us at home. BP by 2 TDs.
C.I.F.= Clueless Inept Fools
Walnut still ranked & no West Covina. Walnut is 1-3 & WC beat them by 20. How is that possible?
I know these morons go off record but, there has to be a more accurate way.
Fred
There is five teams in your top ten that Diamond Ranch could beat hands down. Not to take anything away from these teams but if they played DR schedule they would be 0-40.We'll be at Mt.Sac again this year and with everyone healthy it will be a DR VICTORY.We are DRRRRRRRRRR
Here is my top ten Fred:
1) AMAT
2) CO
3) SH
4) Damien
5) WC
6) Glendora
7) SD
8) BP
9) Rowland
10)Azusa
You really don't think Sd, BP, & Rowland, could beat Damien.
fred robledo , where the heck are the volleyball scores ?
Isn't Custer thay guy who bite off more than he could chew???? Yes, I do believe he was, and how fitting a screen name you chose to represent DR. Yadda, yadda, yadda-----yadda STFU. Boy those are some signature wins you have there this year buddy. DR isn't half the unit they had last year. Last years core of kids had something special. Don't hold your breath on going 3-7 every year and making it to the Finals. And remember you have CO lurking out there, waiting to stomp your guts out, AGAIN!
You trying to tell me Diamond Ranch would lose to Azusa??? Walnut Too????
Come on Fred, get a clue.
Thank GOD,
For home field advantage!
What made that video so hard to see was the fact that alot of us were sitting in the stands that night hoping for an "OLU" type of comeback.
That never happened of course....
Anyway, as funny as it sounds, that makes three years in a row that Notre Dame has kicked the snot out of Amat, but i'll tell you what, it ain't gonna happen this time around.
