Well I would post Charter Oak, San Dimas or anyone else if they had one….but they don’t :(

  • lawnguyy24

they dont even have grass on their field..they shouldnt even have a football team with that kind of stadium, & bigdog they did alot better than alot of people thought, theyre a young team thats gonna only get better

  • Aaron

Fred the guy stole coach Burke’s last play speech from 2005 and put it into his video. Big difference between Torrey Pines High School and Bishop Amar High School.

  • just sayin’

contrary to what you might think – that isn’t Steve Hagerty rapping at the beginning of the video either… it’s called a soundtrack!

  • Neutral Fan

Great Video. No Championship, I agree, but they whacked some pretty good teams. Amats Football Team is as classy as you can get. These young Men can play some football, People stop with the bashing you know they bring it every week win or lose I am Very proud to have them as our D1 Pac5 Rep out of the SGV. What a team and what excitment they bring to their fans, this video says alot about what Bishop Amat Football is all about. Man that was good! cant wait to get there on Friday nites next season.

  • Far, Far Superior Football Experience

The fire in the belly extends to every fiber in your body upon hearing the Hagerty prepare his young men to take control of their destiny. Few will know that feeling. I was fortunate to hear a man speak in that fashion before we won our Championship. I hope some of my former players have similar memories of when we won ours. All your preparation comes down to will and execution, desire becomes a fire and the roar inside you becomes the

Hagerty is a man with intense conviction, that is clear. That begins at Bishop Amat when kids throw the ball on the sidelines and look over shoulders or between legs when they hear the roar of the crowd hoping one day they will inspire similar roars.

Bishop Amat is a far, far superior football experience to anything the San Gabriel Valley has to offer. The truth is staring anyone in the face and this video only hints of the soul stirring experiences this team shared and gave. San Dimas, Charter Oak and others do have their mountain top experiences for sure but the difference, in my mind at least, is this Lancers team’s mountain top view is Hymilayan in nature. Maybe not Everestt but clearly within sightline. Huge season, hude video.

The question has been made in mocking fashion several times on this blog, “Where will Amat get a defense?” If this film is any indictation the defense will be just fine as play maker after play maker come to life.

Most SGV teams play Football, some better than others but few play the game at Bishop Amat’s level……..none play the game at the “last play” level from Day One to the Last Snap. as they say, “If you don’t know, ask somebody!”

The Bishop Amat Lancers of 2009-2010 were as close to Football Immortals as I’ve seen in 35 years of High School Football for one reason……they played at a level that inspired old men to wish they were part of that team for just one play.

Hagerty not winning Coach of the Year will one day reach Codian status. The Tribune really doesn’t understand Football. Coach Hagerty is something special. Great video, thanks for sharing.

  • Very Inspirational Stuff, where’s everyone else’s??????

I’m sure there are Pop Warner Coaches and Dads with dreams of inspiring their young boys to play football someday under hose famous Friday Night Lights, Bishop Amat at least puts themselves out there and says, “This is how WE do it!” Most schools don’t and for that the Lancers should be applauded.

    Very inspirational stuff.

  • Ego’s out of control

More Amat fans with ego’s out of control. What a surprise.

  • big difference

from the looks of it – there is a big difference between Torrey Pines and Bishop Amat. Amat would kick the crap outta them.

  • Is it spring Ball yet?

    #42 is a monster

    #9 is truly blessed

next year should be even better

  • Aaron

Contrary to what you might think, I thought it was a great highlight real, but I knew something was wrong when that speech started because I’ve heard Coach Hagerty speak and that wasn’t him.

Coach Burke’s last play speech in 2005

Fred, the san dimas highlight film, courtesy of an assistant coach is done, but is roughly an hour long

  • San Dimas Rocks!

CIF Champs would be nice to see a condensed version.
    Congrats on the CIF Title.

HEY FRED, HOW ABOUT A BLOG ON THE SGV HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING, LEAGUE STARTS TODAY, JUST ASKING?? BUT YOU KNEW THAT..

  • Huskie

    Sorry
But San Dimas is in the rookie league of the valley.San Dimas should be in league next year with Bomita,Diamond Ranch and West Covina and put Diamond Bar in the rookie league.Makes sense.

  • Lance R

This Video says it all. This is why parents of JAA/PW football (soon to be freshman players) come to Bishop Amat to play and experience that tradition Bishop Amat has developed over the years. I give all the best recognition to CO (champs), SH, Diamond Ranch, Los Altos, San Dimas, Bonita, Walnut, Azusa and all the other SGV Teams, They have very good programs, but the Bishop Amat Football experience is one that shoots for a big prize every year and altho they have not come home with that prize for some time now, the players take with them a HS football experience that is remembered for a lifetime. Lots come in here and hate on Amat for their cockiness, arrogance and pompous Alumi and alumni parents but alot of that comes from fan base that really have never attended or associated themselfs with the true Bishop Amat Family. The real Amat Family of Alumi,Parents and ex-players are really cool and are very friendly. It is not just a football experience over at Amat but it is a experience of four years with Religion, respect and education taught at the highest degree. Amat is a very welcome place to bring your freshman daughter or son, and not just for sports but for education as well. It may not be in the best neighborhood surroundings but it is what you make of it. We welcome all to come and join us under the Friday nite lights during football season and I am sure you will walk away with a sence of what a crowd, what a team and what a tradition. It gets exciting over at Kiefer Stadium there is no doubt about that.

  • AWESOME VIDEO CHRIS M!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The creator of this video, Chris M, used Al Pacino’s speech from “Any Given Sunday” when he did Amat’s Football video for 2008. They are both awesome speeches. This speech must be pretty old because “Jack Murphy Stadium” has been Qualcomm Stadium since 1997. Either that or no one told the Torrey Pines (in San Diego) coach! hahaaha!

  • trueblue

wut tradition does amat have bein losers congrats on the first winnin season in a decade lmao! hahaha, fred get off the sack now its startin to get strange

  • Enoughs enough

BA, BA, BA, BA…..! Fred were all tired of it give us a break. San Dimas, CO step up and post a video please. Anything but Bishop Amat who cant even win a Championship. Amat Nation is so bloated it’s pathetic.

  • warewolf213

    @trueblue
Hey guuyyy, We had winning season last year too! Don’t hate the video, hate the fact that you’re too ignorant to appreciate a good year for a fellow SGV team..

    Go LANCERS!

  • Amused Reader

If San Dimas or CO would’ve played Amat, it would’ve been ugly. Good lower division teams. If Amat did what they did in baseball and were in a lower division they’d be on pace with Oaks Christian for consecutive titles.

  • joemama

    Lance R

Your such and idiot and a fool that it goes beyond saying. You sound like an annoying television commercial for recruiting 101.

This is why people trash Amat so much in here because people like you embarrass the lancer family. You always act like a fool and now you are doing it once again. Stop embarrassing Amat you stupid pig.

no surprise given the fact that your history shows you to be a shallow worm.

  • bbfan

i want to see CO and San Dimas play in division 1 and win a championship. yeah, not gonna happen

  • SGVsBest

CIF is the “King Maker.” They tell us who, when and where.

The Championships are a by-product of the talent and coaching of CO and SD.

  • video man

SGVsWorst- Championships are a by-product of the lack of competition and low division of CO and SD.
They’re still trying to find enough highlights without teams like Gardena and University on them.

  • BA Alumni and Marine

    Dear Chris M.

You have really done an absolutely outstanding job making these videos. Bishop Amat is lucky to have you as a fan. This video is better than last years too. Thanks for taking the time and effort to make it. Bishop Amat football has always been brutal and beautiful.

If your going to play high school football in the San Gabriel Valley, there is no greater stage. But you all don’t need me to tell you that. Look at the highlights! That’s St. Bonaventure, Notre Dame, and Mater Dei getting smacked around!

  • wtf!

Whose #4? That dude got hit (@ 2:18 in vid) and lost his helmet and he kept running and got a TD i think. Dam thats badass.

  • Amat Varsity Wrestling 58 vs Charter Oak 15

Another Amat Destruction of Charter Choke. 7 pins.

  • Low

Looks like the Tribune is now helping Amat recruit kids by showing this video. How low can you go?

  • tcbruin

    BA Alumni and Marine,

Last season’s video was WAY better.

This video should have has a Hag’s speech.

Too much Shay and not enough LJ, Cazares, and Jay Anderson. Could have used some OL blocks[not 'sexy', but it is line play that makes those runs happen]

    wtf!,

    # 4 is Jay Anderson. Gonna be great to have him and Jalen Moore running the ball next season.

  • Eric Landers

Joe mama? Per Lance R statement,

What rock did you crawl out from under? using words like stupid Pig and shallow worm? real mature there mensing. What was written was written and it speaks the truth, I do not see any recruiting in there asking people to bring their soon to be freshman to Bishop Amat. Key word “ASKING”. Truth just layed out there nicely of a HS with a rich tradition. No one bragged about winning or records or anything like that, in fact there was the compliment to all SGV programs. It is guys like you that come in and make themselfs look bad. No foul words here for you. You just make yourself look bad. So Joe-mama get back under that rock and dont come back here, go on now!

  • AMAT 73

    joemama,
No way is Lance R’s post an embarassment to the AMAT FAMILY. In fact if you bothered to read it instead of instantly getting heated up because it is an AMAT FAMILY member posting you would see that. Did you bother to read where he gives many other programs in the SGV their rightfull props and also of the fact that we have not won a champoionship in quite a while . All he is writting about is the experience of AMAT football whether spectating or participating on the team. Even alludes to the fact of the schools surroundings as not being the best of areas but it’s what you make of it which is we have never had any kind of trouble due to the fact of our location . Your wrong to the fact that people come on here and trash us due to a post like this .They come on here for one reason and one reason only and it simply that they hate AMAT for whatever reasons they have . Those who do come on here to bash usually do it with something referring to not winning a championship in 14-15 years or the fact that we are in La Puente . The fact that they throw out our accomplishment of winning the Serra league title as nothing to be happy with and and also over looking our wins against quality opponents as nothing also speaks volumes as to how the hate can even blurr a clear fact that our team had a great season and we do play some pretty dam good football. So I say to you go back and read the post again and this time take the hater glasses off and if you feel the same way maybe you should come and see a game at Kiefer and see what Lance R is writting about. Be serious about the recruiting fact that every die hard SGV fan of whatever school they follow is always going to try and steer players to their school of choice. CO ,SH ,DR ,Damien and us and others , we are all guilty of it but honestly did you point out Lance R’s post because he reps AMAT or would you do to others from any other school ,because I have seen similar post by others where no darts were thrown and especially by you. At least if you bash us on recriuting bash the others as well.

  • ALL BLUE

    T C Bruin and WTF,
There are some good blocks, you have to isolate on players. The eye has a tendecy to follow the ball, and even I miss blocks, until I watch it 5 times.
Watch #74 at 2:18, as WTF pointed out. The guy that took of #4s helmet was in the middle of an 8 yard flight, after being launched by Orduno #74! Then #74 turns back at the goalline and blows up #20 who was zeroing in on a hatless Jay Anderson!
I may be a little BIASED but that #74 Christian Orduno is a BEAST!!!

    ON BLUE!!!

  • Rookie League

    Huskie,

I agree with your comment. The Valle Vista League and Mid-Valley Division as a whole is very weak. However, SD does belong there because of its small enrollment. Let’s take a look at SD’s schedule. They had 3 difficult games all season, twice versus Monrovia and Bonita. Bonita played SD tough and almost pulled it off. SD went on to win a league and CIF title and Bonita had a dismal overall record of 3-8 and one of their worst teams in a long time! I’m not saying that SD would do poorly in a tougher league or division, but I’m simply stating some facts.

  • AJ

Even as a Damien guy, i have to admit that video is pretty cool, even with the whole locker room part and warm ups to make it not a typical high light film, its a sick video. Wow i wish Damien would make something like that.

  • AJ aka Average Joe

AJ, Damien had high lights? Ok you beat Glendora? wow!

  • AMAT!!!!

    Great Video…!!!

  • joemama

Amat 73 and Eric Landers: Make no mistake about it, Lance R is quite the fool and the reason for that is not just because of what he said earlier, but because of everthing he says and does. It is because of what he posts on this blog all the time that makes him an idiot. Lance R is a cancer to the “Amat family” because he is the type of poster that starts the whole process that gives idiots like Annonmous, WERD up and SGVbest the ammunition that they look for. Amat dose’nt need him as a public realtions man. They have people who get paid to do that I am sure, but when you get a poster like him that often says absolulty stupid things, it just drives me crazy that no one calls him out. Tell you what, why dont we just sit back here and see just what I am speaking of. I would be willing to wager that in the not to distant future, Lancer R will write a post that will start another one of those idiotic battles that you see in here so often. Just mark my words.

  • Respect is earned

    joemama

The question is, why do you choose to only focus on one Amat fan? You did not even acknowledge the video! You did not even pay respect to what our boys in BLUE did this year! You come on here and accuse Lance R. and that’s it?

    Whatever dude…

You cannot seriously expect BA fans to back you up when all you do is make some drive-by hater comment…You too can go crawl back under your rock.

  • Eastsiiiiiiiiiide

I cant wait to play VBall at BISHOP AMAT

  • joemama

Respect is earned said: Agreed, the video was a nice touch and the boys in Blus had a fabulos season that was maybe the best one in quite some time. however, I am not asking any other person to “back me up” but to simply see what i’m talking about. “Mr Respect,” almost all of the other Bishop Amat bloggers are good and humble people, but when I see a blatant attempt at pure stupidity, just gets to me because as I said, it only starts the idiotic back and forth that you often see in here.

  • just askin’

joemama – please list what he wrote that was “stupid” or offended you so.

  • SGVsBest

So, what’s the musical theme, BishopRaiders?

    bbfan said:

Sure it would, as soon as the heavy recruiting and the pay-off$ start, we will no longer see neighborhood kids suiting up for them.

amat73 get ova yourself, amat will never be a pure sgv team, too much recruiting.

One question, are they chanting “pink and blue” at the beginning of that video?

And fredj, don’t say you don’t have a south hills video. I’m sure you can post a video of your boy Bogan on a jet ski-you gotta have one of those somewhere in your video collection.

  • Lance R

    Joe mama,

I just do not get what you are talking about? You say I bring up posts that sent the haters in here for a Amat back and fourth hassle? You come on here hating on me so what is your point? You are doing the same thing as Werdup and all the rest but yours is a individual attack. I think my post was intended for the topic of conversation which was the video and I expressed my view of pure truthfulness reguarding the Amat football program, thats it, nothing more, nothing less, but if you think that is bait for someone to attack, your wrong, it does not matter some will and always dislike Amat for whatever reason. In your case it is a singular bash on me Lance R and thats ok, no one said you had to agree with what I post and you have your opinion as you express it with Foul words and frustration. I can see your immaturity as a person to pick something so petty to be upset about. It is all true in the way I have spoken about Amat and the real family we have over there on Friday nites. Joe Mama find someone else that gives a rat ass to what you are upset about. I stand by that below post that got you so wound up. Thank you Amat Fanily for trying to make this guy understand the true meaning of Amat, the school, the sports programs and alumni. He seems like he will never get it and the truth of the matter is JOEMAMMY never posted what High School program he follows.?

  • lower case low life

joemama is a fraud. always has been since back in the day. research his comments and he always imagines something about some one. it’s never based on reality but it’s filled will inadequate syndrome. here are some key words for inadequate syndrom.
    1) “you” get me soooo mad
    2) do you expect “us” to just let that happen
    3) “you” are so full of “yourself”
    4) “i” try to ignore but “i” just can’t
    5) “your” comment “require” a response
    6) do you expect “us” all to
    7) foul language
    8) disproportionate foul language
    9) disproportionate anger
    10) disproportionate frustration
    11) total silence once the group has told joemama to stop

inadequate “life” syndrome~ need to use only lower cse in their realy name, figure it out yet?

  • I agree with joemama

Sorry lance R, dont quite agree with you. I have seen you post comments that attack other bloggers many times in here before. In fact, if you look at this objectively, the fact that joemama is “outraged” (for lack of a better word) on your recient attempt to recruit for the Lancers and what inavriably comes after that from people like “SGV’s worst” and others is in fact quite legitimate.

Oh, BTW, in case you want to know, yes I do root for the Lanxcers because they are “MY” school ok, and also, thank you in advance for letting me disagree with you without YOU calling me “immature” etc…in much the same way that joemama did to you.

BTW, I will agree with you here, and say that that was a bit over the top for him with all of those comments eventhough I do agree with his premise.

  • Count Down to Friday 2010

Great video!!! Did you see the opponents Amat played on this video. One way or another each team they played was either ranked in the SGV, the County, the State, and even the Country. It was remarkable. For a couple of dollars on Friday Night you can go to Keifer Stadium and watch College Football’s future stars whether it be on Amat’s side or their opponents. USC went through its downs after winning consistently. Then a new coach (Carrol) came in and turned it all around. This is the beginning of something special. Every kid who plays football is going to want to be apart of this. And I don’t blame them. I can’t wait for next season.

  • COOL VIDEO

The issue is not joemama’s outrage or Lance R’s past posts. WHO THE F$#%K CARES!!!!!!!!

This is an awesome video of a team of young men who faced some gigantic odds and kicked some serious ass…

Until they got their butt kicked by lakewood.

  • Fool’s Gold

In every season teams “get their butts kicked” some more than others. Some against no bodies and some against quality opponents. Some teams are outcoached or outhustled. While others shot themselves in the foot. Sometimes, as in the National Championship Game a player get’s hurt and every one realizes why experience and repetitions matter more than yardage totals and records setting seasons.

Any fool can say. ‘You got your butt kick” to the losing team but all competitors know, at least they were there. In every game some one will win and someone will lose, at least according to the scoreboard. Players will live with regret, second seconding themselves over inches in plays, wondering what if this or what if that but at least when time goes by they will always have the memory that they gave it their all, if that’s what they did or have to live with regret that they didn’t.

A fool can always laugh even while everyone is crying. A fool can always laugh while everyone is trying and a fool can laugh while everyone is dying inside……that’s what makes him a fool. Reality means nothing to him, life is a joke as personal accomplishment escapes his every effort, and always will.

So why does a fool laugh laugh at others, how else can he get any attention…..and it’s that what a fool craves the most?

  • Truth hurts…

    Fools Gold,
Actually a lot what you are saying is right. But the biggest fool of all is the team and fans that loses has some EXCUSES as to why they lost. And then boast to the rest of the valley that they still are much better then the rest of us. Do you have any clue who that might be?

  • What a Fool Believes

I have not heard anyone come on and give any excuses why anybody lost. IN fact what I have heard here is people saying that teams in the PAC5, including Lakewood, are darn good. If people can’t accept that defeating a Mater Dei is different than squeaking by a Muir or a Monrovia – then you just really don’t want to. If people can’t understand that playing a Lakewood or a Long Beach Poly can in no way be compared to facing teams like CalHi or Azusa in the playoffs then they are beyond help anyway. People who try to compare winning a championship without leaving the fishbowl of the SGV with competing in a division that contains the best teams from southmost Orange County to north San Fernando Valley are really the fools. I wonder who they might be?

  • Dan

I think most on here do understand that beating a school like Mater Dei, Lakewood, or LB Poly is much different than beating a Cal Hi, Muir or Monrovia, most on here understand that the Pac 5 schools mentioned above would usually have an easy time with most sgv schools, but at the same time, San Dimas beating Monrovia for a CIF Title is comparable to Amat beating Mater Dei or Notre Dame. The achievement is just as noteable because, even though San Dimas is in a much easier division, they are a small school with much less talent coming in than Amat. They are winning a CIF Title with the little talent they do have which Amat did not do this year.
There are some posters that certainly go overboard with the anti Amat haterade post on here and at the same time it can be just as annoying with some of the Amat posters coming on here telling everyone in the SGV how much more superior Amat is over the rest of the valley.
BA, CO, SH, WC, DR, SD, and many others run great football programs and all should be commended for the hard work and support that goes in to all of these SGV football programs. I saw a great example only yesterday as I was about to drive off to go bike riding with my son I heard from my neighbor that West Covina Football Boosters was having a car wash in Honor of Coach Bill Dunn who recently past away.[I'll really miss Bill] When I got there, not only was there a car wash, but they also were barbequeing tacos and selling soft drinks, with the proceeds going to Bill’s Mother, a great idea and it’s things like that and many other things that good programs are made of, and the SGV has plenty of them.

  • SGVsBest

Being 52 and 53 in this past decade does Not make you competitive! It only makes you a participant!
    .
    A mediocre participant!
    .
Try having a few back to back seasons like the one in 09 then you may talk. For now, you’re just another game on the Pac 5 schedule! Probably soon to be in the Western!
    .
“Another Bites The Dust” is really an excellent musical selection for these BishopRaiders!
    .
    No Ring No Championships!

  • Pick your Poison

    SGVsWorst –

    I thought records don’t matter.

If they do – explain 22-2 vs the teams in the FishBowl in the same decade.

How can “participants” outscore the best teams in the SGV 687-376

What’s worse than average? the SGV? Charter Oak, Damien, Glendora, Diamond Ranch, West Covina, etc

Or is it Championships? Make up your mind.

If so, Amat is 4th best of the last 10 teams to win a D1 championships.

Which way do you like it?

Records (in which case the SGV sucks) or titles – which makes the Lancers the 4th best D1 team.

“Another one bites the dust….CO, Glendora, RC… Another one bites the dust…. DR, WestCo, Damien… Another one bites the dust… and another ones gone, and another ones gone and Another One bites the dust!”

  • SGVsBest

    I am always consistent!

    Ignore the fool.

  • Two and Twenty-Two

    SGVsWorst –

    Records matter?

    Then here is consistent.

The SGV is 2-22 vs Amat this decade

    2-22! What an embarrassment.

Worse than that – games not even close !

    Blowouts!!! 687-376!

The Wood called.. now they’re only 1-8 vs Amat all time – and they STILL have NO rings in their entire history!! That’s right – NO rings EVER for Lakewood since 1957 – and counting!!!

What’s worse than mediocre. The SGV!!

    Two and Twenty-Two! LMAO!!!

    “S – G – V … Another one bites the dust …”

  • SGVsBest

    Where’s your ring 22?
    .

What a pitiful existence SGVsWorst must live.

Knowing that no matter how “mediocre” he thinks Amat is and no matter how many SHAMpionhsips the other valley teams win – they still can’t beat the Lancers.

    2-22!!! Blowouts!!! 687-376!

What’s worse than mediocre??? The SGV!!!

You can tell when we get to SGVsWorst. As soon as he has nothing – he goes after the city the school is located in. The funny thing is the majority of students live outside La Puente. The funny things is most people that go to football games don’t even park in La Puente. Drive by Mater Dei – Amat’s neighborhood is like Bel Air compared to that. Drive by Loyola – if you dare – Amat’s neighborhood is Beverly Hills compared to that.

Or better yet just go to your FishBowls Crime Blog for REAL headlines

  • Murder Rate

    Frank Girardot’s blog,

Let me throw out a few numbers, the murder rate in the City of La Puente is approx. 25 per 100,000. This would put the City of La Puente some where around number 15 in the nation if they were large enough to make the list. Now a little trick that the city plays with the numbers, this is the CITY of La Puente. Add in the unincorporated parts of La Puente and Bassett who knows what that number would be.

  • Pride of SGV

SGVworst is anonymouse and Dranchhhh put together. The guys is an attention WHore not to mention a sore ass loser for getting whooped by Amat two years in a row and has nothing to offer except attack the ethnicity and geographical areas around Amat.

    Just ignore this ignoramASS.

  • AMAT 73

So you write about crime in La Puente, name one city in the SGV where it dosen’t exsist and the idiot sgvsworst writes about the priests , which city in the SGV doesn’t have a Catholic Church even though there is no proof of what he refers to happened in the valley. Strip joints which by the way are in the City of Industry and not La Puente and some of the best menudo can be found at Ray’s Tepeyac in Azusa or that still might be in Covina not sure about the city boundry. But can someone and there are a few who bring those points up especially the village idiot can tell me what the hell all that has to do with the quality of education and athletics and students that are within the friendy and very safe confines of BISHOP AMAT MEMORIAL HIGH SCHOOL. Just once I would like to see where that all comes into play on what goes on at AMAT . It is a shame about the crime in the entire SGV and I mean entire and what’s worse a gang banging cholo or a skin head racist gang or an asian gang or black gang , to me all the same and all contribute to the terrible gang problem affecting all areas. So before you start to slam La Puente and AMAT on those points think twice.

  • Education

Something that should be pointed out about the education you are paying for at Bishop Amat. Did any of you know that many of your books are the same a Los Altos. I was shocked when I found that out, being that Wilson uses books that are rated at a higher level than Los Altos and is also rated higher than Los Altos. Real interesting being that Rowland is rated higher than both Los Altos and Wilson. I’am not done yet, the best public school education wise is Walnut high school. No one has ever questioned that, a matter of fact it has been common knowledge that Walent is a much better school than Bishop Amat, and its free and safe.

Another one of those untold stories about Bishop Amat, any one ever tried to find where they are rank compared to other schools in the area. You won’t find it anywhere. The reason why is Bishop Amat is not required to publish its test school and they don’t for good reason.

  • call what i see

I too will say it again, why do you good people bother to answer this dumb azz racist tire changing, flat patching jerk’s post. (Sgvworse) He doesn’t have anything intelligent to say ever, and will continue unless you black ball this idiot.

    Education:
I don’t know where you get your information because
As for bishop amat not being rated for their educating, I have witnessed kids leaving BA for what ever reason in their final year and graduates 4 months sooner from a public school not having to finish or complete the year because they are that much more advanced. Also have witness staight A students at a public school and quickly drop down to a C plus student when they come or transfer into Amat. For the money that is charged to attend this fine school, some folks are willing to make that sacrafice for their kids because of the quality of education What are you talking about?

  • Your Special Education

    Education

Man, you are reaching big time. Of course you’ll find text books in common with schools all over the entire state of California. It’s not like Amat, Mater Dei, Damien, or St. Frances get their text books from some magical super smart book store! LMFAO!!!

Will people like you stop at nothin? It’s so sad how absolutely jealous you are that you cannot be a part of the Amat Family.

It’s not about text books my poor poor friend..it’s about the percentage of students that Bishop Amat sends to college and average SAT scores, etc. But do you really need someone to come on here and post these stats?

I’m not going to because its completely unnecessary but keep this in mind…

Every Bishop Amat graduate automatically qualifies for the UC and Cal State systems. The reason? It’s simple, BA’s graduation requirements match the admission requirements of UC/Cal State universities. There is no “skating through” a bunch of easy electives like at other schools. This simply does not exist at BA.

That’s what the term “college prep” school means. But you knew this right? I mean, you’re educated right?

LOL again at your textbook comment!

  • Education

    Call What I See,

Well I guess you guys at Bishop Amat have really done your homework.

“I have witnessed kids leaving BA for what ever reason in their final year and graduates 4 months sooner from a public school not having to finish or complete the year because they are that much more advanced.”

That much more advanced, what a joke. Want to save 20K, go to Wilson High School, as you call it “College Prep” and it’s free. They have the same requirements. The reason why I know this is my daughter was going to transfer into Wilson her senior year, but when she found out the additional units and classes required to gradulate from Wilson she decided not to. Once again it is free. You brought up SAT scores, well where are they published. Not Joe Amat’s made up numbers, numbers posted by Bishop Amat.

  • ca$$ what i see

    Education;
Just for your information, Wilson high school is exactly the school that I witnessed this student graduating in February as oppose to June like evertone else. I also have friends that transfered their kids from public schools only to find out they had a very difficult time making the same grades they made prior. That is just making the grades not saying anything about the decipline they have to comply with. LANCER LIFE.
Going forward though you obviously don’t know what your talking about and I wasn’t going to respond to this because it just isn’t worth my time. You people just love to hate on a great institution, that if it were free you would need two BAs to accomodate the students. As I said people would love to educate their kids for free, but they choose to sacrifice and pay for a better education. The only thing that your right on is, it is expensive. I’m done with you. Think what you want.

  • Education

    ca$$ what i see,

Interesting comment, well I call up your administration and ask a few questions. First off Bishop Amat requires 270 units to graduate. To confuse matters BA uses a 5 unit system instead of the normal 4 unit system. The total hours per class are the same as a public school. At Wilson you are required to complete 230 units based on a 4 unit system. Take the 230 X 1.25 equal 287.5. Basic math is saying that you are lying. Based on the numbers Bishop Amat is still on the old state requirements just like Rowland High School.

You are all welcome to make the same phone calls that I made.

To summarize Bishop Amat requires fewer classes to graduate that Wilson High School. So yes I am calling you a liar.

  • Wilson Smilson Oye!

    Education

This is a HS sports blog for crying out loud. I can’t believe you haters will say anything in the name of hate to try and say anything to put Amat in a negative light. You pigs have used the race card, putting down its surroundings and other bs that have nothing to do with the good name of the school just to make it look bad. Now that’s desperation if you ask me.

Bishop Amat will never have a shortage of good students and athletes. Parents will continue to send their kids there because of its high standards in education, rich in sports tradition and its good reputation, regardless of all the nonsense and crap you haters put out. It’s too bad you couldn’t be part of this experience.

  • Education

Interesting reply, what I would expect when you have no good answer. Being that it was ok for you to make comments on how superior your education is, but when you are called on it, you start playing the sports blog card.

    Don’t worry we all understand…….

Notice Joe Amat doesn’t want to get involved, don’t like losing…….

  • Wilson here we come!

    Education,

Thanks for the valuable information! Now I’m gonna take my kid out of Amat and enroll her at Wilson. Wait a minute isn’t speaking Mandarin or Cantonese and playing ping pong a pre-requisite to enrollment at Wilson?

  • AMAT 73

Can’t believe what I am now reading on this blog. Let me say first that AMAT is not for everyone and there are plenty of great schools in the SGV where anyone can go for free and get a quality education . Whether it be Wilson or Walnut which by consensus seem to be the best or Los Altos or La Puente they all put out great students. The difference might be that at AMAT you are there for a purpose of getting that solid education with the intent of continuing on to higher education. I am not knocking the public system but really there are many students in public school who just look to the last day of high school as their last day of school period. Why is it that at Wilson or Walnut the standard is higher .Shouldn’t it be the same for all public schools. Could it be because for the most part the majority of the student body at the Wilsons or Walnuts are looking to go on to higher education and at the other schools they are not. At AMAT there is a atmosphere of being there to learn and if you don’t adhere to the expected levels of academics or morals you asked to leave plain and simple .Bad grades and lack of dicipline are not tolerated for the fact that it disrupts and goes against what is taught at AMAT. The motto at AMAT of teach me Goodness,Discipline , and Knowledge is that not only academics but life lessons are taught so a person has the tools to go on to have a successful and productive future. As I started out with AMAT is not for all but for the ones who do go and sacrifice to send their children find it was well worth the sacrifices. Now to come on here and shoot down the educational value of AMAT because you dislike AMAT or its Alumni or fans is a losing battle just as it is for someone from AMAT or a follower to say that the quality of a public education is not as good either. The one thing about AMAT , it is a guarrantee the student will be steered towards the goals of higher education, where I don’t think that happens in public school unless the student is of a higher caliber than the norm.

  • FROM WHAT SCHOL DID YOU SAY

    Education,
What school does your daughter attend that she wanted to transfer from to Wilson. Why not tranfer and just take the classes needed to graduate from Wilson if it means a better education. Kind of says something about her drive and goals and commitment to a good education. Could that a direct reflection of you teachings abd guidance to her.

  • Education

She was transferring from Rowland, it had nothing to do with education. When we talked to the school administration from Wilson they explained to us that Rowland is still on the old state standards where as Wilson moved to the new state standards sooner than required. As I found out in my investigation Bishop Amat is also still on the old state standards.

Personally Amat73 comments are supported by me 100%. You question why so many bloggers out their don’t like Amat, read your own comments. It’s like you guys think you are the superior race over at Amat. With that you are going to get the back lash of negative comments from the non-Amat bloggers.

  • Joe Amat

    Mr. Education,

Since you were calling for my input I’ll leave you with this.

The National Center for Education Statistics, a division of the U.S. Department of Education, published a report in 2003 which studied students since they were in the eighth grade in 1988, with follow-up surveys of educational and career attainment thereafter. The results of the survey (2000) confirmed that private-school students go to college and graduate from college in much higher proportions than do students from the public schools, even when matched by socioeconomic group. Private-school students are twice as likely as public-school students (52 percent vs. 26 percent) to actually graduate from college; students from the lowest quartile of socioeconomic status are four times more likely to graduate from college if they had attended a private school rather than a public school (24.4 percent vs. 6.6 percent.

I’ll leave the conclusions to you. Hope you enjoy Rowland. Honestly.

Since this is a sports blog – let’s combine the two for kicks and giggles. Where can you get the most quality, in BOTH areas, in the SGV? I’ll tell you one thing that I’ve heard from dozens of college coaches. If *all other things are equal* the college would MUCH rather have the player who competed in the higher level in front of the largest crowds, with the most amount of pressure. In California – that is the Pac5/Division1.

  • More classes = Higher Quality Education?

“To summarize Bishop Amat requires fewer classes to graduate that Wilson High School. So yes I am calling you a liar.”

Even if this were true, the vast majority of the type of classes required at Bishop Amat are not electives. Public School students have almost TWICE as many electives as BA Students have. This means that at Public Schools, it’s the STUDENT or the STUDENTS FAMILY that chooses the courses they take. At BA, elective courses are held to a minimum thus, “forcing” the student to prepare for college (hence COLLEGE PREP school!).

Why is this significant? Because more classes does not equal quality classes. Who is getting the better education? The person taking a bunch of useless electives or the person taking college prep courses required in order to graduate from BA? (not to mention getting into UCLA, Berkeley, or CSUN) You continue to search for ways to put down BA but you have failed again my friend.

Look dude, Bishop Amat turns away about 200 applicants EVERY YEAR because they did not have good enough grades in Junior High or they scored too low on the ENTRANCE EXAM. Did you forget that Bishop Amat has an ENTRANCE EXAM? LOL!

First you attack BA’s textbooks (which I’m still chuckling at) and now you don’t think that BA students don’t take enough classes!

I’m going to take an educated guess that you are a complete moron. You should do yourself a favor and stop embarrassing Wilson and Rowland High Schools.

I can only imagine how bad you were burning inside with envy the first time you watch this Bishop Amat football video…

    AWESOME VIDEO ISN’T IT?

  • Nice try genius

Education and SGVsBest are the same person. They are are same idiot as well.

  • Joe Amat

    Mr Education guy,

What also shows your inability to get a grip on the facts is your confusion between the 5 “units” per class – which is the standard that Wilson and all schools use (could you imagine colleges trying to determine how many credits applicants passed if every school used a different system?)
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glen_A._Wilson_High_School#Graduation_Requirements

You see the 4 unit GPA (before weighted classes) standard and “units/credits” are two different things… but maybe they don’t make that clear during Parent meetings at Rowland.

Although you did demonstrate remarkable mathematical skills with the whole “230 X 1.25 equal 287.5 equation”. Props to you.

Interesting debate on the schools and the classes needed. I do have a question for Joe Amat. Joe is it possible that the reason that the private schools have almost a 2:1 ratio of kids going to major universities is because parents can afford to send their kids to these schools? I am taking nothing away from the kids who apply themselves to get into these universites however a good part of that is because of the parents who have the ability to pay for the schooling. Some kids can get college on scholarships to pay for all or part of their education but money certainly plays into it. Another factor is the attitude of the kids and if they want to continue their education or not or just go change tires for a living!

    KS,

Good to see you visit. The study accounted for those who “could afford it”when it said:

“*even when matched by socioeconomic group* Private-school students are twice as likely as public-school students (52 percent vs. 26 percent) to actually graduate from college; students from the lowest quartile of socioeconomic status are four times more likely to graduate from college if they had attended a private school rather than a public school (24.4 percent vs. 6.6 percent.”

So even students from the bottom 1/4 of income graduated 4 times more if they attended private schools.
