1. Baldwin Park (10-0-2) – With a 2-0 victory over defending divisional champion Mountain View, the Braves cemented their No. 1 status.
2. Los Altos (7-2-3) – Nothing changed since last week, faces Wilson today.
3. Rosemead (7-1-4) – Great showing in the Monrovia tournament, will face Mountain View this afternoon.
4. Glendora (9-3-3) – Great start, now lets see what happens in the Sierra. They open at Damien on Wednesday.
5. La Puente (5-2-3) – After somewhat of a slow start, the Warriors are back after big wins over Duarte and Sierra Vista, the Montview favorites.
6. Sierra Vista (7-4) – Already 1-1 in Montview after a 3-0 loss to Duarte.
7. Wilson (8-4) – Won the Ontario tournament with a 3-2 win over Whittier Christian, beat Bishop Amat last week.
8. Mountain View – (4-4-1) – The 2-0 loss to Baldwin Park is a wake-up call. Maybe they’re not as strong as last year.
9. Duarte (7-2-2) – The area’s biggest surprise beat Sierra Vista but lost to La Puente. Still a great start.
10. Rowland (5-2-2) – Had three game win streak snapped with a 3-2 loss to Rosemead.

    A couple of things:

Baldwin Park is not undefeated. They lost to La Habra in the Wilson Tournament in the semifinals. Also why is wilson ranked? They will take a beating from Los Altos today. Is the game at 3 or 7 today?

  • anon

not a loss it was a tie 1-1. check La habra schedule to see for yourself.

  • SoccerFan

It was a tie during regular time but they lost in penalty kicks and La Habra advanced to the finals. In soccer and in tournaments losses count as losses even if they are by penalty kicks. That’s why this ranking don’t mean anything. The same thing happen with Los Altos against Bell Gardens and they report it as a tie but they lost in penalty kicks.

  • SoccerFan

La habra shows it as a tie because Baldwin reported it to Maxpreps and maxpreps doesn’t allow you to put if you want by penalty kicks but you still lost and La Habra moved on to win the Wilson tournament.

That’s actually not true. CIF considers tournament games that end in regulation tie and are decided by PK’s ONLY TO DETERMINE WHO MOVES ON to be a tie.

The PK’s technically are not to determine the winner, just to determine who moves on in the brackets just like any other tie breaker in a tournament.

It always has been my understanding that tournament victories in penalty kicks count as wins, however penalty kick losses are reported as ties.

I stand corrected. You learn something new everyday. Thank you

  • LA Futbol

    Fred,

That’s only because the winning team PREFERS to count it as a win and the losing team PREFERS to count it as a tie. Teams are going to do what benefits them the most.

But according to CIF that would be impossible. How could you have two official results from the same game? The policy that I’ve always understood is that those games get officially recorded as a “TIE”.

Of course there is really no one to check this and teams put down whatever they want in the end.

According to the CIF Blue book #2414 Counting a Tie Game
“A regulation called game with a tie score shall be counted as 1/2 game won and 1/2 game lost for each team. This rule will apply to all contests and leagues may not waive this rule.”

Who won the Wilson v Los Altos game anyway?

  • Wilson Parent

    Los Altos 3-2 in overtime

  • Stats

    Interesting game yesterday…

Wilson played their hearts out in the first half and LA played flat! LA arrived to the field with only 10 minutes to warm up and it showed! In the second half, LA showed better ball control and dominated the field, taking over 15 shots on goal after settling down. Wilson had few opportunities but was able to take advantage when it mattered most. The Miramonte league will be tough for everyone! Good luck to all the teams!

I have to give it to Los Altos. They have an excellent team and are worthy of the #2 ranking. I think this game certainly shows that we have a good team too, and #7 ranking is very worthy. Los Altos can have their excuses for not playing well because of warm up time, the refs or any other excuse they want. But our team has no excuses. It was an even game the whole time, and I think our guys are eager for the next time we play.

  • Stats

Wilson parent…no excuses at all, LA played terrible in the first half, just the facts! If you know anything about coaching soccer, warming up before the game is a must especially after sitting in class for a few hours! By the way…a 3-2 score and 18 shots against 4 is not exactly an even game! Like I mentioned before, Wilson played their hearts out in the first half and wanted the game more…the second half was a different ball game. See you next game at LA!

Experience won the game for Los Altos yesterday. Wilson is starting a freshman goalie, 4 sophmores and another freshman. Los Altos is loaded with Juniors and Seniors and at the end the experience won (taking a dive to get a call in front of the Wilson goal). Hey that’s soccer and Los Altos did what it had to do to win. My only concern is High School refs. Something has to be done about them and the consistency of how they ref games. These guys get pay good money by the schools and sometimes they don’t even pay attention to the game because they are checking out other things (moms on the sidelines). Good Job Los Altos and good job Wilson in a very good games yesterday…

  • wilson parent

I disagree with your view of yesterday’s game. I will say you did have more chances, but all in all a very equally fought game. I agree some of the refs we see are all over the place. Yesterday, the refs played no role in the game. They did their job and both teams did theirs. Los altos did play much better in the second half and deserve their #2 ranking, but that can’t be overshadowed by the fact that Wilson regained the lead in the second half, not so dominated as some may say or think.

  • Who Cares

Here we go again, great game LA you won grow up.

  • ROWLAND heights

so yea..today rowland beat ranked 7 team wilson 5-1

  • SGV parent

Number 10 Rowland beat Number 7 Wilson. 5 to 1. However, I managed to watch the game after looking at the old comments. Rowland does let there emotions get to them the team was arguing with eachother after Wilson scored. I believe Rowland knows there potential and has a great heart but they have to keep there mindset right. It was 1 – 1 at half. Rowlands #20 scored four goals in the second half. The end result was 5-1. Lets just see how the rankings come out next week.

  • The truth

Wilson did not win the Ontario Christian tournament and are now 8-7!

  • Your Right

    Truth;

Your right they lost the tournament to Granite Hills 1-0 in the championship game.

But they did when their own tournament against Whittier Christian 3-2.

  • The truth

La Habra won the Wilson tournament, Wilson lost to Alahambra at their own tournament. They are 8-7…
