Darien Johnson is heading to New Mexico State

Bishop Amat corner/receiver Darien Johnson gave a verbal commitment to New Mexico State on Sunday, ESPN reported.

“It was great, I went ahead and committed,” Johnson told ESPN’s Greg Biggins. “I loved the visit and really liked everything about the school. They have a great coaching staff and DeWayne Walker is a great guy and is going to build the program to be very good there. “

Looks like Kieth Smith is going to San Jose State. Congrats DJ! Stand out there and then transfer to a better school. No knock on New Mexico, just a talent like him should be in the lime light with the big boys after all its PAC 5 football were talking about right?

  • Look Out

Thank the Guru for getting DJ exposed to the next level. DJ will do well there at NMS. He is a diamond in the rough and I can see DJ eventually playing on Sundays.

  • Guru had nothing to do with it

This is truly an awesome thing for this young man. I wish him all the best.

Rivals has a good write up on this as well. Three Star Playmaker makes the pledge! thats truly great playing in the wac as a defensive back. looks like dj will be seeing adam muema and san diego state 1st game of the season, and keith smith in a conference game since he has committed to san jose state. also congrats to aj powell committing to portland state.

I wish you all the luck Darien, you are truly an amazing player and I have enjoyed watching you over the last 4 year wearing the mighty blue and gold. I will miss seeing you on the field returning punts and shutting down receivers, however I will enjoy watching you on Saturday’s performing at the next level. Does anyone know if Cezares and Kane has committed to any colleges?

  • DRanchhhh

Looks like DJ is going to on the same defense as Bryan Bonilla from DR!! Good Look DJ, Kill it out there!!

  • charter oak nation

can anyone confirm charter oak glendora week 0?

  • Recruiter

#1 amat fan Cezares and Kane will most likely end up at Citrus College or Mt Sac.

  • Chathedral Phantoms

New Mexico State who 3 for 10 last season thats why they need Djizzile foshizzle wow blown out 411 to 149 they will need his size and strength to turn around the program. HAHAHA

  • please

Chathedral (please check your spelling) Phantoms, funny that with all that scary talent you guys have over there, you still can’t do anything in your division… I think that’s pretty laughable itself. DJ will be fine, and it won’t be because of his size or strength (though he looks strong as hell). It’ll be because of his PLAYMAKING ABILITY! And, by the way, I wouldn’t mind playing for Dwayne Walker, would you? You probably would, seeing as how you have that coaching dynamo Pearson over there… HAHAHA… Good luck in Division Nothing next year!

Look for Amats Jay Anderson to be next years hot player coming out of Amat. I thought Darien should have been recruited by bigger named college football programs then a New Mexico State. He is a talented player and maybe was overlooked because of size who knows, other then that I wish you luck at New Mexico State DJ. Another fine athlete coming out of Bishop Amat.

Don’t understand some of you, it’s a free education to a four year college, weather its
New Mexico St, New Hampshire, or the Pac Ten.
Playing football is just iceing on the cake, the important thing is that your kid can get a 4 year degree without having to pay tens of thousands a year to do it.
Who cares that its not a big name or pac ten school, New Mexico St. is a great opportunity for Darien, as is San Diego St. for Muema, as is Washington for Powell ect.

Thank you for your comment. it doesnt matter what school you go too, as long as it free, congratulations to all these kids that got accept.

It doesn’t matter whether it a D1 or D10 school, all that matter it free, these kids visit these schools and make their own decision, congratulation to all the kids that was accept, considering the economics at this time. Just think about the kids that wasn’t accept. whereever they go it not about football it about getting an education.
