Girls Basketball: Mark your calendars for Wednesday; Bonita welcomes Diamond Ranch

Girls Basketball top ten
1. Diamond Ranch (14-2)
— In Saturday’s showcase of public vs. private, the Panthers fall to Alemany, 47-46.
2. Bishop Amat (14-4) – Nice 2-0 start in the Del Rey, but next three league games are on the road.
3. Bonita (17-1) – Finally, the Bearcats get to measure-up at home against Diamond Ranch on Wednesday.
4. Walnut (13-3) – Opened with wins over Rowland and West Covina to begin 2-0 in the San Antonio.
5. South Hills (12-4) – Also 2-0 in the San Antonio, with the big game on Friday against Walnut.
6. Glendora (15-3) — Not only 2-0 in the Sierra, but it pounded neighboring St. Lucy’s 68-48.
7. Sierra Vista (11-5) – Already 5-0 in the Montview and this should continue. Don’t see them losing a league game.
8. Rosemead (11-4) – Will anyone compete with them in the Mission Valley League? Maybe Arroyo at 10-8 and 2-0.
9. Wilson 11-7 — If they were in the Valle Vista this year instead of next, they would probably win the league title.
10. San Dimas (12-6) – Who’s the favorite in the Valle Vista. Covina, Northview, Ganesha or San Dimas? We’ll still say San Dimas for now.

Take a look on, find a common opponent of Bonita and the schools ranked above them. Then get back to us.

Avoidance…Is what I have been trying to do here as today’s game is so big for our Lady Bearcats. Yes DR deserves the #1 ranking and I think will win tonight but I hope our girls bring the intensity, play tough, play smart and get a big crowd to help in what would be a BIG upset. However, even if they don’t pull it off, I hope they play a great game, which they are more than capable of doing…Good Luck Lady Bearcats.

As for Rankings, I’ll take a #3 although this year I think maybe a #2 is a little more appropriate…

Bonita will lose by 20+. DR is better at every postion.

What about Glendora? Not in the same discussion as BAMAT or DR I know but they lost to S Hills with an unfortunate phantom foul with .6 and then beat them three days later by 10, are 15-3 and are still ranked behind S Hills. Maybe the competition is the reason. I haven’t followed S Hills that much.

Ok, I was at the game. Bonita struggled get shots off the whole game. More than 20 turnovers. DR’s pressure defense was everything we’ve heard about. The game was only as close as it was because of their cold shooting. DR was without their most dominate player in the post and Bonita still couldn’t handle them. What are they going to do when they play the second time and Kearney is back. Sorry Bearcats you are playing for second place. 2 words about being 17-1. SOFT SCHEDULE!
