We wanted it, we got it, Charter Oak and Glendora to meet in Week 0 at Citrus College

Charter Oak coach football coach Lou Farrar confirmed today that the athletic directors for both schools have agreed to meet for the first time since 2007. “All we need to do is sign the contract,” Farrar said. In other non-league games, Charter Oak will face Gardena on the road, followed by Esperanza at home, Rancho Cucamonga on the road and Santa Fe at home before beginning its first year in the Sierra League, where they will face Damien, Claremont, Chino Hills, Ayala, and South Hills.

Garfield high is looking for a week zero game, any takers? They have many starters on defense and offense returning. What do you think?
Much respect to all the SG Valley teams.

  • sorry ti inform

Charter oak will lose to glendoa next year! i just dont see co recovering that from losing some of there biggest key players. and with chad jefferies from glendora returning co doesnt have agood chance.

  • Unreal…

Good game but the game everybody really wants to see is Amat-Charter Oak.

    Oh well… Maybe next year.

    Go Amat!!!

  • kurmugin

Excuse me all to hell, but every time I see the new Sierra league lineup I am reminded what a total ripoff shipping Glendora out into the IE is for that school, its athletes, fans, and the citizens and taxpayers of Glendora and LA County.

Plowing all the way into San Bernardino Co for all their away games is beyond inconvenience. The Baseline IE teams only have to come in here once a season. The Tartans and all their supporters will have to make make the trek–with traffic–several times.

Still think the city fathers, the GUSD, the LACOSD, and the LA Board of Supervisors should have told the CIF, ADs, and coaches to screw off and leave Glendora right where it was. And, while they were at it, put Claremont in what I guess is going to be the Hacienda. Be more fair to them. Too little, too late, I know, but what do you expect with all the nimrods we have in goverment? Common sense? Not this time.

  • No It’s Real

Unreal, your just another BA whiner. We all know that CO lost alot of their big doggs and it will be a good game against Glendora. What did you want to do steamroll over CO so once again you guys can beat your chest and claim how great you are? Who are you to say “EVERYBODY” wants to see Amat CO. Maybe last year but this is 2010!!

  • ghsfan

Fred what about the year before this video when a a highly rated Charter Oak team visited Citrus to play a low rated Glendora team. That video is on youtube yet not on here. Whats up with that

  • Fred Robledo

Fair enough, I found it and posted it

  • Cathedral Phantoms

Garfield city section what a joke, stick to playing the undiciplined teams in the city section you dont want none of the southern secton. Both of those videos are weak, play oaks christian or serra then we can have a discussion.

    Phantoms out!

  • Laughing Garfield

    fan 11,

Garfield could not even beat St. Paul last season. Garfield needs to stick to playing City ball against the likes of Roosevelt and Wilson, playing CIF teams and they get whacked. What did they have a 5’6″ qb? come o dude they grow them bigger out in the SGV. Stick to the Taco league of E.L.A.

  • Adam Schefter

A source close to me has stated that the CHARTER OAK CHARGERS did not want to schedule against the LANCERS of AMAT. It does not surprise me that they did not want to schedule a powerhouse in AMAT.

  • whitey

I’ll go on record as saying CO goes 5-5 or 6-4 if they are lucky, this comes after looking at their schedule for ’10, a significant bump up, not from any perceived loss of talent, just playing with the JR high boys now, instead of all the cupcakes of years past!

  • ghsfan

Thanks Fred. Now with them spliting there last contract (2 year contract) do you happen to know who is leading the serious between them?

  • john clayton

the last 4 years the chargers have been playing while amat is having there “we’ll get em next year” banquet…

  • Adam Schefter

    John Clayton

Then why is Charter Oak so afraid to play Bishop Amat???

  • whitey

….john clayton,I’m trying to look up the Amat/CO results, you’re a know it all, what were the scores from that 2 year series? between the D7 champs….. yada yada yada and Amat, could you please post them here, as I recall Amat was a less than dominant team, at least by the measure they use to grade themselves, yet they whopped, spanked, beat the CO teams, wanna re-visit that, …………..I thought you’d say no, lol

We have to drive all the way to Rancho cucamonga to play football!! Poor us!!!!

Longest drive 25 miles – most between 15-20.

2 maybe three times a year. Wow – Life is tough.

BTW: Except for Damien all schools in the Sierra league were 15-20 miles away. So now were down to an extra 20 mile drive every other year, and that is why you are whining – yeah thats it!!!

GL in that league. Glendora got what is deserved – tried to get Damien booted and instead got themselves booted!

“Week Zero” – is that the week named after SGVsBest?

  • Hmmmm – Curious

    Hey SGVsbest

I am curious as to what you are basing your claim that Amat will have no defense next year?

Is it the two returning starters on the D-Line? All the LBR’s returning? Or the 3 returning starters in the secondary. By average intelligence – that’s 8 of 11 returning starters on defense.

Wait – that’s right you are not of average intelligence

We all saw your 190 lbs D-linemen at the Hags recruitment camp. No more DJ and Rio is playing with the little white ball. Wow! You’re in troble! Big Trouble!

  • Second verse – same as the first

SGVsWorst – let me remind you of just a few preseason comments from this paper-

“I have seen all the teams from the Serra League and I just don’t see the talent at BA that will stack up against the other three teams in the league. – there are way too many questions on a defense that got hit hard by graduation. I’d venture to say that the biggest loss on defense was not Sheldon Price or Isaiah Bowens, but it was linebacker Brent Seals. ”

“That’s a lot of confidence for a coach that loses defensive standouts Sheldon Price, Isaiah Bowens, Brent Seals, running back Deshawn Gaisie and depth on both sides of the ball.
The Lancers do not have a weak opponent on the schedule,”

    “4. Bishop Amat (7-4)
With the departures of so many talented players and the unforgiving schedule, this could be the Lancers’ highest ranking of the season. Face it, coach Steve Hagerty over-achieved in his first season, leading the Lancers to the playoffs and a near monumental first-round upset over Long Beach Poly before falling in the final minutes.
Gone are defensive gems Sheldon Price, Brent Seals, Isaiah Bowens and running back Deshawn Gaisie. But the cubbard isn’t bare, returning senior quarterback Jerry McClanahan, junior running back Jay Anderson and possibly the area’s best two-way standout in receiver/corner Darian Johnson.
But will the Lancers have enough depth and strength to butt heads with the likes of St. Bonaventure, Loyola, Notre Dame?”

“I’ve had a chance to see Bishop Amat plenty through the summer and here’s the deal…their is not a win to be found in the league schedule with the talent that Amat is fielding. SO Notre Dame is just as good this year as they were last year (and we all know BA fans how that went last year). Crespi has one of their best teams in years and Loyola is absolutely stacked this year. And when you fact in that St. Bonaventure could have a team that is better than last year’s squad; the wins become hard to find on the schedule for the talent that BA is fielding this year. We mentioned it back in the winter and it bears repeating; if BA gets four wins this year, Steve Hagerty should get Coach of the Year.”

How did that all work out?

So like Hags said before this season, ” So, a lot of guys have to step up and assume that responsibility. A lot of times it’s just effort, confidence and belief. Regardless of who we lost (on defense), I always think we can get better.”

  • Aaron

    History lesson for Big Dog.

The Smudgepot is a game between Bonita and San Dimas High Schools which has been played since the 1972 season.

Due to population growth it was the decision of BUSD to build San Dimas High School rather than expand Bonita. This has led to one of the most intense rivalries in Southern California, not just in football but in Basketball, Soccer, Baseball and Softball. Currently Bonita is behind in the Smudgepot series with San Dimas having a four game edge IIRC. It’s big, it pits two entire communities against each other that had one time been joined.

  • AMAT 73

    Second verse,
You are trying to make sense to someone who doesn’t have the ability to absorb that type of post .Just look what he writes ,Rio is playing with the little white ball . Of course he is it’s baseball season for him now . What is so bad with a 190 lb defensive end in high school football and besides by the time football rolls around he will add some muscle after spending the summer in the weight room . Good size and probably the speed to match. He pretends to have so much hate for AMAT but he still attended the football camp at AMAT . You did say you saw our linemen at the camp didn’t you sgvsbestfool.

  • Dan

    Hmmmm – Curious,
Kane, Alberico, Marquez and Jordan Wall will graduate this year so the only starter on the “D” line I see coming back is Julian Gener.
As for DB’s, Casarez and Johnson will be graduating so that leave Amat with 2 DB’s returning, never the less, 5 or 6 returners on “D” isn’t a bad start.
    Whitey,
I’ve heard this before and I disagree, the 2005
Amat team that beat CO was not your average Amat team as far as talent goes, they may have had an average record but that team might have been the most talented Amat team of the decade. When they were focused they were capable of beating any team in D1 as they showed that year in beating Mater Dei and Loyola who eventually won D1 that year. You can bet they were focused when they played our local teams which is why they rolled over CO, Glendora, & Damien that year. The locals lost to one of the most talented Amat teams of the decade in 05, it wasn’t just an average Amat team. Now the 04 Amat team was your less than average Amat team and the scores reflect it with Glendora coming within a touchdown, and Damien coming within 2 TD’s. CO lost 28 to 0 but I think they just had a poor game that year.
CO vs Amat would have been good games in 06, 07, 08, and 09. In 06 you had a pretty good CO team against a less than average [by Amat standards] Amat team. In 07 you had probably one of Amats weakest teams of the decade vs a very good CO team, CO probably wins that game. In 08 you have CO’s best team that I can remember against a very good Amat team, I think CO could hang with Amat in 08 because of Williams and Perry and #99 the nose guard on the line plus they had the QB and skill players to go with it, I think the game was a toss up. This year in 09 you had Amats best “team” of the decade, although not the most talented but they played team ball the best, vs CO’s 2nd or 3rd best team of the decade, I think Amat wins a close game here. I don’t think 2010 would be a good year for Amat vs CO because CO loses to much to graduation this year, but maybe in 2011 or 2012
because I hear CO had a very good freshman class this year.

Before you attempt to speak of facts – get the facts straight.

3 Different underclassmen STARTED in the secondary last year – hence 3 returning starters. Same with the D-tackle spot – ala 2 D line. 2+3+3 = 8
