San Antonio All-League teams; Rodriguez, Gomez, Calistro and Maxey earn MVP honors

I’m still trying to obtain all the all-leams, but despite numbers and countless calls, still don’t have the Mission Valley, that’s always the most difficult to obtain for whatever reason. Also don’t have the Miramonte, but here that’s on the way, so, we’ll start with the San Antonio and over the next week, I will post more.

    interesting to me that in both girls basketball and soccer that Walnut goes undefeated in league play, yet both league MVP’s are from South Hills. I know its not mandatory that MVP’s come from the league champion, but …….

    Thank God the league coaches vote for MVP and not the parents…they(coaches) obviously know it takes a team to win league;not just one great player. Congratulations to those who made MVP as well as all those who made 1st and 2nd team. Job well done and best of luck to both MVP girls playing Division 1 college ball next year.

    Typically, the league MVP comes from the league champion. Like I said before it is not mandatory, in special cases you have an outstanding player on a 2nd or 3rd place team that is obviously the most talented player in the league. It is just interesting to me that in both of these girls leagues that neither of the undefeated league champion teams(Walnut) had the best player in the league yet the league MVP in both cases came from South Hills who finished 2nd. Im not saying its a conspiracy, South Hills just has some great talent to win 3 of the 4 MVP’s in boys and girls soccer and basketball. Oh yea and in football and volleyball.

    well how did she get mvp if she did nothing against undefeated UNSCORED on walnut… her title could have been validated if she would have scored on them.but i think it should have went to nikki mckee who kept her from scoring both games… just goes to show … walnut worked hard

    how does j.p rodriguez get league mvp over darnell martin or ify umodu?? their stats were waaaaay better than j.p’s and they proved to be more valuable to their teams.
