The football proposals are in: What we reported in January is true, the Sierra League is likely headed to the Inland Division if proposals stick

Inland Division (16 entries)
Three playoff entries each league except for Big 8

Baseline, Big Eight (4 entries), Citrus Belt, Sierra, Southwestern

Mid-Valley Division (12 entries, 4 at-large)
Only first and second place guaranteed

Almont, Mission Valley, Montview, Olympic, Rio Hondo, Valle Vista

Southeast Division (15 entries)
Del Rio (3 entries); Hacienda (4 entries); Pacific (4 entries); Suburban (4 entries)

Above: I guess since Charter Oak’s back-to-back Southeast championships came against a team that barely had a .500 record (Diamond Ranch), that’s justification for moving Chater Oak and the new Sierra League to Division II. That’s right CIF is essentially bumping Charter Oak and South Hills from Division VII to Division II, punishing all the other Sierra League teams with them.

The skinny: Coaches and administrators were sent the Divisional Realignment proposals that start in the fall, and what we reported in January is true, that the Sierra and Baseline League are moving to the powerful Inland Division, which is the equivalent of Division 2. That means South Hills, Charter Oak, and Damien from the Sierra, along with Glendora in the new Baseline League will compete with the Big 8, Citrus Belt and Southwestern League for championships. You can understand moving the Baseline up since they have absolutely dominated the Central Division the past few years, but how do you move up the Sierra League? Shouldn’t your league have to prove itself worthy first before justifying such a bump? One Sierra League team has been past the second round the past two years. One, Chino Hills in the semis!!! It makes absolutely no sense by CIF, you’re moving up a league to arguably the most difficult outside the Pac-5 that hasn’t done anything to warrant or deserve it. I’m not being a homer here, just tell me how you justify it? I’m starting to believe the rumors and whispers I’m always hearing that the powers at CIF really do have it in for the South Hills’ and Charter Oaks’, there is really no other way to explain it. As we also stated, Bishop Amat will remain in the Serra and Pac-5, and the Mid-Valley Division will still be the most winnable with the Almont, Mission Valley, Montview, Olympic, Rio Hondo and Valle Vista. The new Hacienda League will stay in the Southeast Division with the Pacific, Del Rio, Suburban, which is four-league Division that leaves West Covina, Diamond Ranch and Muir licking their chops.
