Tuesday Boxscores: Los Altos beats Cal at USC, but the real question is are these Conqs for real?

However, the Conquerors picked up a special victory on Tuesday night by scoring six runs in the third and fourth innings and then holding off a strong rally from host California for an 8-6 victory at USC’s Dedeaux Field.

Good young talent but have only played 1 team above .500 and lost at home. Teams they have played are a combined 12-12. Let’s see them jump in with the big boys S.Hills, Glendora,Bishop, Damien, and Diamond bar.

  • JAMIE JOHN ARAKAWA

LOS ALTOS BASEBALL TEAM IS FOR REAL. YES, THEY ARE YOUNG, BUT HAVE EXTREMELY TALENTED PLAYERS ON THE TEAM. JOE MUNOZ, STEVEN CAMBEROS, AND CHRIS CORONA ARE THE LEADERS OF THIS YOUNG GROUP AND KNOW HOW TO WIN. A SCHOOL TO LOOK OUT FOR THIS YEAR IS DAMIEN. A REAL POWERHOUSE TEAM THAT HAS A LOT OF TALENT. A SLEEPER TEAM THIS YEAR THAT WILL SCARE A FEW SCHOOLS IS WALNUT HIGH SCHOOL. WATCH OUT FOR THEIR STRONG BATS AND PITCHING.

  • Lets see

Well Arakawa, well see how for real Los Altos is when they get in to league…. they play Wilson friday and I dont see wilson pitching anybody except Steven Baltierra against them….and I actually got to see him pitch against South El Monte, stuck out 11 batters giving up one hit and i got to say his curveball is the best i have seen in a while…… wilson just needs to hit or they are gonna lose to LA

  • BALL3K2

STEVEN BALTIERRA IS THE REAL DEAL. ONE OF THE MOST DOMINATING LEFT HANDED PICHERS IN THE AREA. THIS KID HAS ALL THE TOOLS TO MOVE ONTO A DIVISION 1 COLLEGE AND START IMMEDIATELY. GREAT BAT AND OUTSTANDING GLOVE IN CENTERFIELD. IF HE GETS ON THE MOUND FRIDAY AGAINST LOS ALTOS, IT SHOULD BE EXCITING.

  • interesting

If Baltierra plays D-1…he will be the 1st 5-4 player I have ever seen at that level! Especially a pitcher! By the way, South El Monte has one of the worst baseball teams I have seen this year!

  • Damn….

    Intresting,

everybody just hating on Baltierra,,, to Bad he isnt 6’0 ….. give the kid credit last year he gives up 3 hits to a stacked Bonita team and beats them…. the kid has great stuff or else he wouldnt be mentioned on this blog

  • Make the Grade

Balti is a great ball player but he also doesn’t make the grade. He is Wilson’s Gilmore in Baseball.

  • Agree

great comment, thats why its called a student athlete student first athlete second

  • score

LA-10 Wilson-4…it was batting practice for LA’s young bats with Baltierra on the mount!

  • Huh???

I was at that game and im not sure it was batting practice he gave up 5 of those 10 and which at least 2 or 3 of the 5 wer the 3rd basesmans fault ….. i give it up the leadoff had a good hit and so did there number three hitter but besides that,, i really didnt see anything spectacular about LA

  • score

LA’s entire line up was hitting off Baltierra! The best picher in the valley?? I don’t see it!

  • huh?

first of all best pitcher in the valley wrong.. he isnt the best ,, but he did we had to do he got ground balls and if ur players cant back u up then what can u do

  • reallyy

Baltierra isnt the whole team, if he doesnt have the defense to back him up then the team isnt really that good. Theres no if’s, and’s, or but’s.

  • Heights Talent

Baltierra is the best pitcher/player in the Heights, I base that comment on what he did last year. He is human he is going to have good games and bad games. The reality of it is at 5’5″ (at best) and his grades are major issues as far as D1 looks, unless he is lights out his senior year, I am talking below 1.0 era.

Now LA does have those three sophomores they are really good ball players but lets be honest not even close to D1 looks at this time. They have their own issues that are major road blocks into making it to the next level. Some similar to Baltierra and other issues that they need to clean up, or they wont be going anywhere.

  • scores

My point…last September you wilson folks came on here and hailed Baltierra as the next great Hacienda Heights quarterback! What happened? Now he is the best baseball player in the Heights? Sorry, I did not see that on Friday! He looked ordinary at best with a not so good team behind him!

  • C’mon

Baltierra is a Talented player but not the whole Wilson Wildcats team ……. u cant expect ONE player to lead a team to a Championship….u look at Los Altos they have 3 good players not 1 if one of those three have a bad game u have the other two picking up the slack , my problem is who does Baltierra have???

  • Heights Talent

It use to be Kevin N. but he is another kid with major grade issues. Now they have another kid that has more raw talent than all these kids we are talking about. Craig B. but he is another one with grade issues. Interesting looking back at it Wilson’s top three players if playing are clearly more talented than LA’s top three players. Once again LA has much more depth than Wilson.

  • LA vs. Wilson

For as long as I can remember that has been an issue at Wilson. People that aren’t familiar with the two schools would be surprised why? At Wilson the school administration doesn’t care who you are you earn the grade you get. At LA they will take care of their elite athletes. One coach was bragging about one of LA’s greatest quarterback’s that when he graduated he couldn’t read, no it wasn’t Mike Smith. You can go back another ten years and you will be pretty close.

  • score

Once again you Wilspn people think you know it all! You mention that at Wilson you get what you earn…then why are these kids playing if you write how they have problems with their grades?

  • LA vs. Wilson

All these kids aren’t playing. Keven N. is not playing. Craig B plays multi sports and is in and out based on his grades at the time. All I am saying is the top three from each side Wilson has the more talent. That is and has bee common knowledge since these kids were seven years old. That is not to say clearly that LA has the better TEAM. I actually know LA baseball better than Wilson baseball. That is why I also know the major issue within the LA baseball program that I am not going to bring up on this blog.
