Another Sunday Tribbin and life at TribCenter, where we don't say "Da, Da, Da .... Da, Da, Da," we say, "Du Du Du .... Du Du, Du."

Anything and anyone you want to talk about.

You see what this is doing to me, after three straight days of covering championships, and ALL ending in SGV champions, I'm in prep overload, the beginning of baseball and softball, and already we have a few surprises. No Patterson and No. 9 Los Altos still crushes No. 3 South Hills in softball, the re-evaluation of the rankings already taking place, with the exception of course Bonita, already 4-0 and a tourney champ, winning in Palm Springs. I can't think of a team hungrier than them. Glendora swept Upland twice, showing they're not going anywhere, using two different pitchers, Argyle throwing a 1-hitter in the second. Didn't need any convincing in baseball that Amat and South HIlls are legit, but wondering about Bonita and Northview, tied 7-7 after 9 innings on Saturday, just a day after Bonita crushed Ayala, 21-1. It doesn't appear these two are ready to give up their area swagger just yet, either. Next week should be fun, the Glendora baseball and San Dimas softball tourney's hit full tilt, state championship playoff games begin, and this guy and his crew have to start selecting the all-area winters teams, players of the year, coaches of the year, etc, etc. That's life at the prep desk.

Saw the game Saturday Bonita/Northview from a biased Viking angle. Both teams were somewhat lucky to walk away with a tie. Northview pitching gave up 6 HRs and 2 2Bs. The Bonita staff gave away 8 free passes with 5 HBPs and 3 BBs. So one side was slugging and scoring on solo shots and the other side was able to put together 9 hits, 8 free passes and one error to score the same number of runs.

It was an interesting game and for so early in the season both sides showed they'll be in the mix this year come CIF.

I've seen a few of the Glendora Tournament games now and got a couple observations. Alta Loma and Charter Oak had a slugfest of a game Friday night with Alta Loma winning 11-10. Wasn't overly impressed with the pitching from both sides. Bonita played a jv squad on Sat. vs. Ayala and won 21-1, so I wanted to see them vs. a quality opponent like Northview and they got out early courtesy of the little league park at Goddard. It's disheartening to see pitchers make quality pitches get hit for cheap hrs. Bonita hit 6 hrs. Yes, they hit 6. I'd say 2 would've been gone at Northview and maybe 1 at Bonita would've went out, but hey, it's there for both sides I'm sure KH is already typing back, but KH answer this, what advantage did the small park give Northview yesterday? Absolutely nothing. As for Northview, didn't do much early, but that team battled all the way back and got the lead in the 6th on hit after hit. I will tell you from the backstop area I was standing at, the Northview kid was safe in my opinion in the 8th at the plate, as the umpire was also in terrible spot to make that call. Anyways, after all said and done, I liked what I saw in both of those teams, especially when you consider how many guys both teams lost last year to graduation. Was waiting to see CV/Charter Oak, but the rains came.

Fred,

Did South Hills play a DH against Ayala yesterday? If so what were the scores? Thinking game # 2 may have been rained out!

Also what is the start time for tomorrow's BIGGIE? AMAT VS MATER DEI? With the Monarach's # 1 pitcher done, I see Amat winning 5-2
