I don’t know if you were going to do a write-up on this meet, but it deserves attention because several area athletes really stood out. Among other things, the San Dimas HS girls finished second out of more than 25 schools, losing only to Ayala. The SDHS girls won both relays, with 4x100m anchor Shannon McKee coming from behind to catch the Monrovia anchor at the wire in 49.45. Monrovia’s time? 49.46. The other members of SDHS’s 4x100m team are Taylor Jackson, Erika Kalmar, and Yamani Wallace.

In the 4x400m anchor Erika Kalmar brought the Saints home in 4:02.81. Northview was second. The other SDHS 4x400m team members are Shannon McKee, Katherine Salcido, and Yamani Wallace.

SDHS’s Katherine Salcido was Athlete of the Meet, winning the long jump (18-9!), the 100m hurdles (14.79) and finishing second in the high jump. Erika Kalmar won the 400m, and Shannon McKee was second in the 200m.

Ashley Burchfield placed in both throwing events for the Saints. Michael Thompson placed in both hurdles events and the long jump!

Just wanted to give these hard-working track and field athletes some recognition. Happy Easter!
