Baseball Rankings: Glendora slips past South Hills to No. 2; Bonita, Charter Oak coming on strong

Tribune Baseball Rankings
1. Bishop Amat (12-1)
— What’s left to say, after an opening round win in the National Classic, I’m getting the feeling they can win the whole thing.
2. Glendora (11-1) — The most impressive stat of all is that the Tartans have a team ERA of 1.43. When you have four pitchers under 2.00, that’s mighty impressive.
3. South Hills (9-1) — Not advantageous to have to play a doubleheader in the Classic, especially for a team not as deep on the hill as Amat, or Glendora for that matter, which is why the Tarts have passed them in the rankings.
4. Bonita (10-2-1) — This is one of coach Knott’s most impressive jobs. They have won eight straight after going 3-0 in the Northview tournament.
5. Damien (7-3) — The Spartans needed that win over Diamond Bar to get them back in the Sierra race and some much needed momentum.
6. Northview (9-3-1) — The Vikings’ only losses have come in tournaments, and that 3-1 loss to Glendora looks more impressive today.
7. Los Altos (12-4) – After losing two big Miramonte League games, they go 3-0 in Northview tournament to play for tonight’s championship.
8. Diamond Bar (9-5) — Went 2-1 in the Northview tourney, losing a 10-9 game to Bonita. They don’t have the pitching depth for knockout tournaments, but I like them when their ace is on the hill.
9. Charter Oak (7-5) — Always nice to win five straight and advance to a championship game, which is what they have done in the Northview tournament.
10. Sierra Vista (8-4) — After a tough start, the Dons have won seven straight, finally becoming the team we thought they were when the season started.
