Softball: West Covina beats South Hills again, 6-2; Dekota Monarrez hits two home runs

West Covina’s Dekota Monarrez hit two solo home runs in Tuesday’s 6-2 win over South Hills, which follows her three homer performance in a 10-9 victory over South Hills earlier this season. “It’s just something about South Hills,” Monarrez said. Also Monica Gomez threw a no-hitter in a 6-0 victory over Workman. Bonita defeated Charter Oak 2-0.

West Covina High School junior Dekota Monarrez has a simple explanation why games against South Hills turn into her own personal home run derby. “It’s something about them,” Monarrez said. “They’re our rival, it’s not just another game. You have to do something against them.”

    Help!! SH needs a picher that hits her spots. WC will not let Rodriguez beat them, yet no other hitter will step up to the plate!! Dekota is just doing what any good hitter should be doing. Get a fat cookie and hit it 250 ft. Nice!!!

    Great game today WC vs SH, WC brought the milk and South Hills kees on giving up cookies. If you take all the hr’s that WC hit, SH should be 3-0 that’s a Big If.

    Not that it really matters but Dakota only hit 1 HR in Thursday’s game not 2. Oh and by the way they aren’t cookies, Dakota is just a good hitter. She hit yesterdays off a change up & on Tuesday it was an inside pitch. You kind of take away the talent of the hitter when you only blame the pitcher. Nice job Dakota you can really hit just about anything.
