Want to know how much “we”, I mean “i”, take the MSAC RELAYS for granted?

For years Carl Lewis was loyal to this event and every year I’d put it on my to do list only to miss the night he ran. I’d go when my kids ran but some how and some way I’d miss what could have been the greatest Track man of our generation, especially when you consider how consistently great he was and how drugs never ever tainted any of his accomplishments.

Every year since I think I stupid I was not to see the best in the world do their thing.

Hope to make it out this year just to see all the great “in our back yard’!

Thanks Tribune for the $10 off

AZUSA, lets all get out there and cheer on Chad in the high jump! Heard he’s really progressing and doing very good in that event!

  • Damien has a great coach in Doc Williams

Damien’s Taylor Herrera now running for Cal Pol SLO will run Friday at 3 pm. Always liked that kid because he’s confident and easily articulates his dreams, without ever forgetting to put in the hard work. Ran at UCLA the other day and came in third with another PR. Seems Taylor is still getting faster! Good for him!!! How can’t you root for this kid?

Doc Williams @ Damien does a great job and is as outstanding an educator as you’ll find in the valley. One of the truly great men who understand the role a coach plays in a student’s academic and personal development.

Would love to hear from others about the Track coaches and educators who really make a difference in our Valley. Track doesn’t get the love it deserves when you consider the great venues and colleges that are internationally recognized in our own back yard.

The weather’s going to be perfect tomorrow. Hope to see everyone out there. Maybe some records will fall. In a side note, never gor to see Carl Lewis or Marion Jones or Evelyn Ashford but I wouldn’t miss Allyson Felix!

Best of luck to all the athletes !!!

  • MSAC REALYS “where the world’s greatest athletes meet” !

Incredible day at MSAC Relays. Seen Willie Gault, yes THAT Willie Gault of Chicago Bears & Olymic team fame, run a 21.88 in the 200! He was competitive at the turn but worn down on the stretch, still an incredible athlete and performance considering the man was born in 1960 which means he’ll be 50 in Sept!

Taylor Herrera won his race at 21.40 with the best time in the 200 being 21.31. Got to see tons of athletes from as far away as Alaska to the East Coast as well as some International athletes.

Great job as usual, great atmosphere all around. How lucky are we to have this even in our own back yard.

In case anybody didn’t get the tribune on Sunday, West Covina’s BeeJay Lee ran the fifth fastest highschool time in the nation this year in the 100 meter dash at Mt.Sac Invitational on Saturday with a time of 10.61. He tied for the top mark in the state. BeeJay also plays football
    for the Bulldogs.
