Sources confirm Aarel Vaughns to Charter Oak

We reported earlier this week that South Hills freshman running back Aarel Vaughns, the younger brother of San Antonio League MVP and graduating senior Geoffrey Vaughns, had checked out of school. Apparently the younger Vaughns is now at Charter Oak. At South Hills Aarel Vaughns was the freshman MVP who joined the varsity for the playoffs.

Bishop Amat ran out of money that’s why they couldn’t get him.

Why so must hype over a freshman exspecialy after south hills said he wouldn’t have played a serios role on the varsity level . Let us in on what’s really going on there!

  • just play

I am really tired of all this talk and writing about the people that are leaving the schools. It is all driven by the parents and they will be sorry after high school when their kids have no friends because thay moved so often. The chances of these kids making the big time is so small that its not worth the time we spend talking about it. Why don’t we take some time to praise the kids and their friends who are at our schools and are loyal and working harder to amke themselves better players and people.

  • CO Bro

My son told me this over dinner last night. Could he be the running back we need? Anyone know what he did at the freshman level?

  • BigDog

Does this mean he would have to sit out his sophomore season.

  • CoFootball

Hold the press- GET outta here he just wants to be with the charter oak champions. i wouldn’t blame him either. Congratulations Aaral Vaughns on joining the proud Charter Oak Tradition. We are very happy to have you and will be cheering for you in the next upcoming season. welcome to the Charter Oak Champion Family.!!

He is a solid tailback with good moves. With Charter Oak moving to a tougher league I doubt he could handle the punishment at his size at least his sophmore year but I could see him up there his junior year if he grows, he will get 6 or 7 touches this coming year. It didn’t look like he liked playing defense but I could be wrong. He started at safety the beginning of the year but about half way thru the season he almost never played defense. From what I was told he was the offensive mvp and there was a defensive mvp and then there was a team mvp which it was not him but not sure of the kids name but it wasn’t Vaughns.

The family probably made a personal decision and given the state of South Hills football right now especially after last year’s not performance but really more importantly just the behavior of the players and coaches I too would be concerned with the direction of the team.

The family probably seriously considered options meaning Bishop Amat was a real factor until ultimately the family chose Charter Oak. One can only imagine the looks on the faces of Charter Oak when this kid walked on campus looking for the registrar’s office.

This probably had nothing to do with anyone else or anything else but the family making a decision they felt was probably in the best interest of their child.

Now this does beg the questions though how does he older brother feel about this decision and what did he have to say about this because I hazard to say not everyone at South Hills let this family leave quietly and his brother is probably still on campus. Hmm, go figure?

I hope for the kid’s sake he is given the privacy and space someone his age deserves. Good luck to the family and their child.

I truly hope we at South Hills will be ok too!

    Co football
I hope he’s better than his Brother an average football player.CO don’t get to excited about this kid I’m sure you already have someone better.By the way did his brother get a scholarship from any college…………

  • Redbull

This family must of not liked playing time or position he was going to play because it wasn’t just little vaughns but also his older cousin that is a quarterback that will be a junior and he was going to play a much larger role at south hills then little vaughns was. Either way them leaving is not going to change what the team would have had in the win/loss column. South Hills did not lose anything with the attitude that whole family had so good luck at your new school.

  • haha

    the rich get richer…

i love how other programs act like they would turn the kid down…welcome to the school of the decade

I feel I have to post this. I am a parent of a freshman football player at SH and wish to let everyone know, that although my son did not play very much, he had a very good experience playing frosh football at SH. Coach Roddy and his staff were very fair and I felt they did a very good job with fair talent. The kids played hard and the discipline was great. Vaughns was not our MVP, Benny Garcia was. Aaron is a very good player and got a alot of playing time, why he left in my opinion was strictly up to his dad.
So far in spring, the kids are working well and I hope are getting ready and my son is looking forward to the upcoming season. Everything at SH is on the up and up.
    Go Huskies.

  • BigJoe

my son played most of the time and I agree, coach was great in preparing the players to play and vauhns leaving is sad but i think the dad the one involved in leaving. my son did come back from pracktice and said coach roddy will be moved back to varsity and will be doing the lifting and conditoning of the team. i hope so he is very good at that. they also have a new coach out there his name is coach owens and he has a good coaching backround. things are fine here. we need to work hard for the up coming season because we move up with better compititon. Huskies 1!

Speak for yourself but you were not a Varsity football parent like I was last year and if you did go to our Varsity football games last year you can’t disagree with any of us that the lack of discipline besides everything else was embarrassing. The freshmen level may be stable but the Varsity level was out of control. Several of our transfers no name mentioned may of been athletic but at the expense of our school’s reputation.

We have continued to underachieve for the last however many years and that’s a reflection of the intangibles. We have lost sight of our identity but I truly hope you are right and everything is ok this year and we see a better product on the field.

South Hills Has not Won a Championship since the retirement of Mike Ryan Former Offensive and defensive line coach. the last time they won he was a huge reason . tough and mean , made his players that way . he is the main ingredient needed to get thedawgs over their hump

  • Just The Truth

Really people..who cares..he wouldn’t of played on the varsity level anyway..he’s not even ready…good for him if him and his Uncle Chris are leaving…Big Deal! We have some great talent on the team and you all will see a Big Difference this year..there’s already coaching changes that are taking place…obviously Coach Bogan is a smart man…he knows the changes that need to take place…Mr Arkle has got involved…its all good people! Like I said before…Well everyone is tripping out on the transfers that have taken place. Well we have plenty of weapons still at South Hills. Vince Hernandez is a descent receiver and defensive back, also will most likely be the back up QB. There’s also Jamie Canada who has great hands and is a awesome RB. There’s also Jamiel Hart at RB and the list goes on….watch out for Senior Victor Martinez at QB. He’s floated around in the JV level for a couple of years and is looking really good out there. I hear he’s been training really hard…so don’t be surprised because the QB position is totally up for grabs. You wont see him at any local combines..come check out the spring training and see for yourself the strength that South Hills still has! Go HUSKIES! NICE….GO FOR IT!

  • Big easy

Who ever said that victor Martinez is going to be the qb at southills don’t know football or been around southhills. He wouldn’t start a flag football game.he should have been the one to transfer and still can. The qb will be vince unless they bring in somebody hey unless somebody comes back! I hear it’s a little pricey over there
