Football: QB Chad Jeffries and OL Sioasi Aiono shine at Sunday’s NIKE Camp at USC

Glendora quarterback Chad Jeffries and South Hills offensive lineman Sioasi Aiono earned MVP distinctions at Sunday’s Nike Camp at USC, with Jeffries named the top quarterback prospect and Aiono named the top offensive lineman. Here is what Rivals.Com said about Jeffires.
Boise State is the main school showing interest in Jeffries and after Sunday’s performance it’s easy to see why. Jeffries looked good in his drops, scanned the field well, showed off a strong, consistent arm and usually seemed to hit the receivers right in the numbers. Jeffries won the MVP award and Los Angeles Loyola’s Jerry Neuheisel was right there with him. “He’s just the most solid overall,” quarterbacks coach Matt James said of Jeffries. “He and Jerry Neuheisel were the best two kids mechanically-speaking and depths in their drops, understanding of the game, their reads and throwing the ball, timing of throwing the ball. Jeffries and Jerry both had really good days.”

Can you imagine what Sioasi Aiono would of been like this year playing still for Los Altos and now in our new league this year. I said several years ago his transfer to South Hills was going to put our program back in a rebuilding mode and low and behold you can’t replace someone like him when he chooses to leave for another school.

Regardless, we at Los Altos wish him the best of luck and I still say he never would of left if Gano was still our Head Coach back at that time.

  • Get It Right

    Conqueror Crusader,

Then youre an idiot, because he left before Gano quit. He left because of Gano, or did you forget that also. You guys want to blame everything on Felipe; don’t forget Gano hired Felipe to replace him. Just weeks before he announced the hiring of Felipe he told a few parents Felipe wasn’t ready to be a head coach. Gano and Gano alone is the reason why LA is where it is. Dont forget Gano went 4-6 that year saw very little talent within the system, had no upperclassmen studs coming in, so he jumped ship.

I have been saying it since we played Glendora last year. CJ is that guy, with all due respect. I believe he will have a great year. As for Aiono, same for him.

I am really beginning that the Nike camps are mainly for your guys who are in the limelight. I was there yesterday and there was a huge turnout by some of the best athletes both inter- intrastate. Kids like DeAnthony Thomas are fast but get recognition bc of the hype created from the media. I watched closely as that kid lined up at CB and got burned several times. There were 4 kids that should have been in the running for the DB MVP:

Ryan Henderson-Rancho Verde–Tremondous recovery speed and has freakish atheleticism.

Ifo Ekpre-Olomu- Chino Hills–True lock down corner. Not quite the height everyone is boasting him to be, but I see this kid in the NFL one day.

Jacoby Carter-Diamond Ranch– 2 Ints, 2 deflections, got caught for a tub once on a stop and go. He lacks height but makes up for it in athleticism

There was another kid from Corona Santiago that really put on a show in his ability to bump and run. I mean he was running with speedsters as if they were attached at the hip.

There were 3 better backs there than Henry Langy?? from Utah. FAR BETTER. But it seems like hype rules. In the receiving corp, a kid named D.Brown from Kaiser, I think, was the man. He is a small kid but his ability to run routes was phenominal. His hands are ridiculous.

I cant wait to see the Guru’s evaluation. I just feel the kids that got recognition didnt quite deserve it based on that days performance with the exception of Chad Jefferies and the Taft QB.

  • Like I said, Jeffries is the pretty special

Easy to see why Jeffries is the best QB in the Valley in terms of overall talent. His ability to win games, stay composed and be a leader in all big time. I’m a huge Jerry Mac fan because he does it at the highest level against the biggest odds but in terms of upside Jeffries is pretty special. Amazing that the idiots in the SL made him share the Offensive MVP with Sainz who lacks work ethic but that’ll work itself out in the wash.

I always thought Glendora receivers bailed on balls that “they” thought were uncatchable but in reality the receivers never really understood why the ball was where it was. Jeffries is an incredible talent and the work he put in with Rix shows, a shout out to anyone with dreams of playing the position, look up Rix who I think is better than Clarkson. I know Clarkson gets the pub but Rix is super solid and a great communicator who relates better than Clarkson who pampers too many babies. Isn’t it odd that Leinart, Clausen and Montana have all had maturity issues everywhere they go?

Damien has a kid named Zalsavar (sic) who throws a beautiful deep ball and is working with Coach Merrill and Coach Gano, who was a QB of note in his day, but for the next level stuff Rix is the man. Interesting how last year others thought less of Jeffries because of the Damien game when in reality, if you know anything about football, he sealed his D1 ride with that performance because never quit, showed class and just kept coming. Kind of what Ryan Mc Mahon did when Mc Bride blew him up over and over again. He got up, sometimes without his helmet, and went back to the fight. That’s heart! The way Mc Bride blew him up was a result of poor coaching. Jeffries will play big time football next year, just watch.

I hate to correct you but my buddy chad said he is working with this new coach and he chad says is wayyyy better! [ryan ohara his name]

Chad is and prob be one of the best players in the country no doubt about that!

go getem chad keep being a leader u are and bring glendora a speicail season and banner!

  • Norco

    DRanchhhh…..

    +1

  • Go Private….

This QB, Zalsavar better be getting some private QB lessons, I can guarantee you that I can teach this kid better than Gano and Merrill. Yes Gano was a quarterback 35 years ago, but has never been a QB coach. Merrills son played the spot many years ago (decades). These two guys have zero ideal what it takes to be a quarterback today. Gano had Felipe as his QB coach over at LA. Thinking back on it, Felipe really never coached up the QBs either. All the QBs that came through LA were either taught outside the program or transferred in as junior and seniors, sorry but there is a reason for that.

  • Damien Represents

    Recent NFL signees from Damien:

Ian Johnson Vikings 2009 ( Boise State )
    Freddie Brown Bengals 2009 ( Utah )
Tommy Hernandez Vikings 2010 ( UC Davis )
(All played on the same team together.)

Alex Thompson might play Arena Ball or somewhere after earning Offensive MVP honors at Northern Colorado. Ryan Mc Mahon will make it some day as well, just watch.

Not bad for a soft school with a less than .500 program huh? Guess i was wrong all along and it wasn’t the coaching. Players find a way.

Best of luck Spartans. Tommy is a beast! Heard no one at Davis liked to practice against him, now you know why!

  • Kimbo (Slice of Reality)

    CJ-

    Kick a$$ and take names.

Get that big ole tackle of yours to “Do Work Son”, so you can prosper without running for your life this year.

Best of luck! You know I will be there every step for you!

    Go Private….

You know as much about this subject as I know about rocket science absolutely nothing. NOW go fly a kite loser.

  • Holy Cow

To whover said the Rix is the guy as far as QB coaching goes.

Wow – you really have no clue.

Rix doesn’t know squat about COACHING the QB position. Any fool can put a kid through footwork drills and call it coaching. That is all he does. He has no cluse as to what it takes to COACH a kid at that position. How to read a defene, how a scheme works in a pass offense, what a coverage is, body position on drops, footwork on drops, decision making, throw timing, location, placement, you name it – he does not have it!

Now he has the ability to “talk” a game and as such has now conned parents to buy in to his BS. Unfortunate for those that are spending hard earned cash and think they are getting something for their money.

The kid at Glendora is indeed vert good……has absolutely nothing to do with Rix.

Just because you spend money does not make it good.

  • reality

Curious about the big raw qb I saw last year at the South Hills, Bonita playoff game. I hope someone is working with him this off season teaching footwork and leadership skills. He has potential. Is LA going with that small kid at qb? I was petrified he was going to get badly injured when I saw him play last year. Love his heart though.

  • tcbruin

    Holy Cow,

Bingo. Rix = Snake oil salesman.

  • To Reality said

I heard that the big raw kid from Bonita is also going to Rix. I too saw the bonita South hills game and that kid can down right throw the ball. He was the best QB we saw all year and I think he is only going to be a Junior

  • Aaron

Pendleton will be a Senior this year.

  • why hate

holy cow if you read the tribune article jeffries gave credit to both his coaches, rix and o’hara.

sgvfan, that’s a bunch of bull. both coaches helped. if chad believes o’ hara is helping him now by all means move on but the work rix did put him on the map

any one know the list of qbs rix has helped over the years?
