Breaking News: South Hills freshman running back Aarel Vaughns checks out of school

South Hills’ Aarel Vaughns, the freshman brother of senior Geoffrey Vaughns — the San Antonio League MVP and a first team All-CIF Southeast Division selection, checked out of South Hills last week according to sources.

Aarel Vaughns is a running back and was the MVP of the Huskies’ freshman team who later joined the varsity roster for the playoffs. The speculation is that the younger Vaughns will wind up at Charter Oak, who desperately needs a running back, or Bishop Amat. Wherever Vaughns winds up, he has a good chance of playing because South Hills traditionally has let players transfer, opting not to challenge for “athletically motivated” reasons, which is what allowed Travis Santiago to go to Charter Oak and most recently junior QB Brock Booth to Bishop Amat. For those wondering where this leaves the Huskies, they still are solid in both positions, returning QB Vincent Hernandez and running back Jamel Hart, who will only be juniors.
