Above: Diamond Ranch's Brandon Sermons, now at UCLA, broke a femur bone during spring practice on Saturday.

Hi All:
There was some bad news out of the UCLA spring practice.
Brandon Sermons, a former Diamond Ranch star, broke his femur during an individual drill on Day 3 of UCLA's spring practice. Here's what I wrote about Sermons injury on my college football blog - The Red Zone.

I was fortunate to see this kid play during their playoff run at DR his senior year and he was one intense individual. Most players need a word or two of encouragement at different times of the game or season, not Sermons! He was all business and lead by example on a team filled with flat out studs.

Incredible strength and body, and if any one can come back it'll be him. Still remember him when Roddy put him in the backfield and he turned the corner on those magical runs in a playoff game that year. My coach used to say, "Run like a bat out of hell!!!" and until that moment I'd never truly seen anyone fit that description more. He got to the corner and in one slick move was headed to the end zone as players took futile angles that would ultimately result in thin air as he blew by them as if they weren't even there!

Best of luck Mr. Sermons.
