National Classic Update: Wooden bats no problem for Bishop Amat, Rio Ruiz hits a grand slam, Lancers beat Notre Dame Prep 11-1; South Hills game postponed until Tuesday at 9 a.m.
Bishop Amat wins: Rio Ruiz hit a grand slam with a wooden bat, which was no problem for the rest of the Amat hitters in an 11-1 victory over defending champion Notre Dame Prep (Arizona) in the first round of the National Classic on Monday. Amat will play its second round at El Dorado High School on Tuesday at 2 p.m., against the winner of Palm Desert and Edison, which was rained out and will be played at 9 a.m., at Edison with the winner playing Amat right afterward.
Rain Update: South Hills' opening game with Salpointe was pushed back to Tuesday at Esperanza high school because of rain on Monday. If the Huskies win tomorrow's opener, they will play the second-round at 1 p.m.

Mr. Baseball NUT!,
Your point is certainly one way to look at the Northview Champion’s bracket.
With all due respect, may I suggest another perspective?
Bonita plays Charter Oak twice next week on Tuesday and Thursday. Those games will probably determine the winner of the Miramonte League and affect the Division 3 playoff seedings. Today’s games, Championship and Consolation, don’t have anything to do with anything other than maybe the tribune‘s rankings.
It’s very nice to have played well enough to be in either and they all sure matter to the boys, but after that, they are an afternoon workout. As you can see, there are moms and dads who also attribute a deep level of importance to these games as well, but I suspect Coach Quinley and Coach Knott are looking down the road a bit farther.
Just my opinion.
South Hills 1 Salpointe 0 after 3.
OOPS!
Guess those 9 runs in the first four innings came back to haunt Bonita, against D.B as they will play for third place even though THREE teams finished 4-0 in play. Bonita gave up the most runs and had TWO shutouts! That hurts!
KH,
You gotta feel bad man, watching your TWO league rivals play for the championship, AFTER you had already beaten BOTH!
When will the Animal29 be released?
SH will play Orange Luthern if they win, West Ranch if they lose.
AMAT should WIN this thing with no problem.
who will SH play at 1:00?
Ok. I was in the back observing. Must say hitting was the best I have seen in a long time. Defense was great. Now for pitching well lets just say wood bats. Worked to Amat pitcher advantage. From what I seen he was a blistering 81 to 83 sometimes maybe 84. But with the run support he was just fine. Way to go Amat.
Rio Ruiz hit a grandslam with a wood bat. Amat hitting was on point! McNitt was awesome.
Way to go Blue
who was the starting pitcher for amat and how long did he go
Yeah, good stuff Amat. Hopefully we can get South Hills to represent just like BA just did today.
Bishop Amat 11 ND Prep 1 Final
7-1 Amat end of 5 innings.
Fred
Baseball is Bor....................ing nobody cares about Sgvbaseball i would rather go to the beach and watch a good game of over the line.
Bishop Aamt is scheduled for between 1-1:30
South Hills has been cancelled until tomorrow @ 9:00 am
Get a job SGV.....
The South Hills game was stopped in the first. They are waiting it out to see if the field can be prepped in time.
Just got a text from someone whos at the Edison vs Palm Desert game in OC. He says the game was delayed, but they are about to start the game. Clouds but no rain. Sounds like the Amat game should be on for 1pm?
can anyone confirm weather is cooperating with the start of play?
Hey Fred. When will the baseball and softball top 10 be coming out?
TWO of our TOP SGV team going against TWO of AZ'z TOP 5!
Good luck Lancers, and Huskies. PLAY hard EVERY pitch, and remember its NOT the CLASSIC, your shooting for, its the "bling"
