Softball Predictions: Glendora, Bishop Amat and San Dimas to the Final Four, then it’s over

Bishop Amat has been formidable since the freshman took over

Division 3
The big question is Bonita really the top seed? You will have a better answer by the second round when they likely face Freeway League champion Sunny Hills and Yolando Rios, who has a 0.77 ERA after against a pretty tough schedule. My heart wants Bonita, but some strange losses down the stretch to Charter Oak and Los Altos make me wonder. Glendora on the other hand is playing well, hitting the ball as well as I’ve seen them it the past three years. So, here’s my final four.
Semifinals
Sunny Hills vs. Ayala
Glendora vs. Oaks Christian
Championship
Oaks Christian over Ayala

Division 4
The only local is Bishop Amat and I’ve got a great feeling about this. Once they take care of Rancho Alamitos at home, they will likely get No. 4 seed Aquinas (23-2-1). They have a great record but haven’t played anyone, losing to Bonita 8-1 early in the season in the Palm Springs tournament. Compare that to Amat, losing to the likes of Mater Dei 1-0 and beating St. Joseph at the near of the year and I like the Lancers. Here is how this will shake out.

Santa Monica over La Quinta

Division 5
There is no way I’m picking against San Dimas this time of season, especially the way they came on again, pounding Northview at the end of the season. This team just get it, and I like their road, going through a fourth seed like Duarte to get to the semifinals. The Saints should beat Pasadena Poly, and West Covina could be dangerous, but I like their trip to the semifinals. Northview and South Hills are on the bottom half, but I just don’t see it.

Division 6
This will be short and sweet. South El Monte is the fourth seed, but Arroyo is probably still better. Either way, neither of these teams have enough pitching to get it done. If South didn’t do it with Reina, they probably won’t do it this year. I don’t see either team getting past the second round

    Though I haven’t followed softball as much the past few seasons, I do know that Oaks Christian is a stretch. EVEN in the OC Register, they mentioned how Oaks has NOT been in ANY quality tournemnts so their victory total may be a reach.

    With Glendoa having SPLIT with BOTH Bonita and Ayala , I believe gives them the Edge. I would have swapped the seedings between Bonita and Glendora.

    I still see a Glendora/Bonita FINAL!

    Fred, showing love to the Amat girls? I’m impressed. It’s been a succesfull season considering all that has transpired, now is the time to take it to a new level. The freshman have completed their regular season and should be ready. Gonzalez led the team in RBI’s no one was even close, Aguiano was a terrific find this season and as long as the defense holds up she’ll be ok. We just need the seniors to step up, Hernandez and Baker are needed for the playoffs so have fun and lead that’s what seniors are supposed to do.GO LADY LANCERS!

    Oaks Christian has a cake walk to the quarters where they will get their ass handed to them by Chinio hills. Glendora loses in the second round to Tesoro,Bonita loses in the quarters to Mission Viejo. Ayala 3 vs. Tesoro 2 in the final JHall finishes a stellar high school career with a cif ring end of story.

    Bonita ranked CIF div 3 #1, what a joke! What quality wins do they have? Only Glendora. They recently lost 3 in a row.
    Ayala has several quality wins. They won the Nike to First tournament loaded with top OC teams. They have beaten El Modena, Canyon, California, Rancho Bernardo, Marina, and split with Glendora.
    Bonita couldn’t even win the Charger Classic, St. Lucys beat them in the finals.
    Come on CIF, open your eyes.

    Easy cowboy, agree with you Ayala should be ranked #1 and Bonita #3 or #4. They have beaten some quality teams but both Ayala and Bonita lost to St Lucy’s. I Almost forgot the last time I looked California wasn’t in the OC. lol.

    The last time I looked Bonita beat Glendora 5-0 so they lost a 13 inning game 3-2 to St Lucy’s big deal. They also own wins over Marrymount and Aquinas both teams have a chance to win their divisions. Ayala also lost to Eleanor Roosevelt 4-1 who Charter Oak Beat 3-0.

    FYI, Bishop Amat has a four time larger student body than Aquinas.
