Glendora QB Chad Jeffries is wanted

As Aram wrote on “In the Huddle,” Glendora quarterback Chad Jeffries came by our office for pictures and indicated that he has been offered by Utah, a soon-to-be Pac-12 power, joining a growing list of schools that already have offered him, which includes UTEP, San Diego State and Oregon State. The UCLA fan in me asked if there had been any contact with the Bruins, and Jeffries said yes, and that he has spoken to offensive coordinator Norm Chow, and that Chow told him before he makes any decision, to give him a call. There you have it, an update on the most sought after SGV quarterback since ….hey, u fill in the blank.

    thats great ,
good size, nice feet work, all he needs now is for some one to step up over there and catch the nice tight passes he throws,
yesterday at the damien passing league, almost every pass chad thru was right there, but dropped.
fine some one who can go over the middle and catch a pass glendora, hes to good to have to turn it up the field just to get the first down.way too many dropped passes .two straight passing leagues same results.tight pass, drop.
love to hear the lille boys we coached somewhere down the line full filling there dreams, glendora all american youth football rocks,

  • One Dad to Another

I’ve said this since last year, kid is too good to have so many passes dropped. If you look at his JV highlights (yes they exist on Youtube) you can see he’s head and shoulders over anyone on the field. Time after time he turns up field and make big time plays.

The kid has the tools that Mark Mendrun had as well but Mark only went to QB Camp in year and Damien had that big year. Chris Rix is very solid as a QB Coach and doesn’t seem to pend time filling kids heads up with BS like some local BB “trainers” do.

The irony of all this is three years ago Rix was blasted on this blog and all he’s done is produce solid minded QB one after another. Never understood the Rix hate and don’t really want to rehash the nonsense just pointing out the man knows what he’s doing in that area and kids believe in him.

kh, what did you think of Damien’s talent. I tried to make the event but couldn’t/ Seen you at the Bonita event last week. I was talking to Mr. H by the fence and thought to introduce myself.

I saw your boy as well. He’s solid with very good hands. Actually picked off Jeffries. He must have been feeling it until he threw that one duck” himself, lol. BYW Bonita has issues for sure with depth as allot of players go both ways and if Pendleton gets hurt the next QBs aren’t 6’4″ if you know what I mean.

Anyway which Damien QB did you like best?

  • 5 stars

KH, Youre entertaining to say the least.

You got mad skills…you bread big leaguers who dont make all area teams and you develop D1 QBs too.

    Youre amazing.

FYI: Glendora JAA was also the league which Chad was a backup QB for several years behind a kid who couldnt even crack the starting line up at the high school varsity level. So what Chad accomplished he did on his own merits and no one has the right to take credit for that. Great job and congrats to Chad.

    One Dad to Another,

    Clarkson or Rix and why?

  • Former QB

    tcbruin….great question…..NOW WE’RE TALKING SPORTS !!

I like Chris for who he is and why he’s in it. Steve has a ton of great pupils but if I’d have to make a cursory observation Steve’s kids have tremendous egos off the field while I haven’t seen that from Jeffries and others.

I’m going to watch the WOrld Cup with friends but I;d love to talk more when I get back.

    Absolutely a great question!

5 start, first of all theres thousands of dads son who didnt make freds all fred team.my ups too all young gentlemen who made it.i have only one boy playing h.s baseball, so for you to say i make big leaguers out of my kids, your the joke ?
theres not too many h.s. jr. in the bigs. chad j was one of our qb when i was helping coach g jr.aa football the other qb dad was the coach and guess what he was the qb coach, his boy took most of the snaps yes, chad did well when called apond. the other boy got snaps too in h.s. so your not alright in your little non sence case youve biuit in your mind.am not here to predict chads future,i love chad and his family, how about that.thats earned love, thru the years of fellowship among his dad and our sons.he always has my back and the same in return, every kid has earned what they have, nobody gives you glory, glory is thru patiance experiance and hope.romans :5. 1- 6 read it.
the other dad. ididnt really see too much on damien, saw some nice passes, again too many dropped balls.in our practice its the same thing, kids just keep dropping easy throw balls.why dont the dads take little jr. over to the h.s. and throw him acouple hundred balls every night.
k.c. and i play catch alot ,hes going to ask the coach today if he can bring home a football ours is done too manying street marks.
now it looks like k.c.is one of the backups to the big guy at qb.
    that might not last long,
lets good garrett,am all for garett, because that way k.c. will catch some passes down field,it wont hurt having to senior qb,k.c. will turn it up and run two if we need acouple yards, thats what chad is good at if sit back he will burn you with the run, hay, its starting to sound like bonita and glendora all over again just like in baseball and basekball.we rock.

  • Answer To Arams Question

Most highly sought after quarterback since…
Pat Haden (Bishop Amat), Rob Hertel (Los Altos),
Dennis Sproul (Los Altos), Dan Maguire (Claremont) just to name a few that went onto great colleges and the the pro’s.

  • Joe Amat

I always like to ask this trivia question (some may remember the answer). Freddie? Aram? Steve?

“Who is the last SGV quarterback to play in the NFL?

  • http://www.insidesocal.com/sgvfootball Aram

    Joe Amat,

I’m gonna say Brian Russell. Played QB at Amat and then DB in the NFL. You said “play in the NFL” not “play QB in the NFL” … so what do I win?

one kid to watch is a incoming junior by the name of Josh Pierce hes a WR, hes not the perfect package! but with somework he’ll be very good! hes not one of the fastest receiver out there he could use some work in that aspect of his game but this kid has some AMAZING hands! im telling you when im watching there prac’s and 7on7′s he just goes up there and snatchs that ball right out of the air! hes about 6’0 175 but this kids hands are by far best on the team! with some speed work he can be all leauge no problem.
and dillon downard hes the fastest on the team and has the best jumping ability on the team but hes just lacking in hands. this kid is great at running routes and everthing a receiver needs to do but he just doesnt have the hands but hes working very hard and improving everyday! come sept those two kids and two receivers to watch for they will be the deciding factor weather jeffries has a good season or not.

    AT – Nice!

You can fool some of the people….and all that… but you can’t fool ‘ole Aram!

Go to the In-n-Out truck at Keifer and ask for the “Joe Amat Special”.

    They’ll charge you double! LOL!!

  • Glendora parent

Apparently u haven’t been watching the right passing leagues. I haven’t seen a school yet to stop the Jeffries /downard combination. Downard is the fastest on the team and CO won’t be able to cover him. He’s down all this after all the drama he has felt with, moving out at 18 and he’s been supporting him self the last 2 months, food, transportation, rent. Who needs Wallace? Downard will be right up there with him, he’s faster and actully knows how to get up the field. The question is why has coach p been hiding him the last two years? He has been the fastest recover the last two years.
