What is your favorite saying, that’s what we asked Valley Football coaches, some willing to answer, some too cool, others having fun with it

We had just about every high school football coach along with a pair of top players in for pictures the last two weeks in preparation for our fall magazine. We asked the coaches to fill out prospectus sheets, and one of the questions asked is if they had a favorite saying, so I thought I would share a few …

La Puente’s Brandon Rohrer had an interesting one, quoting Glendora basketball coach Mike LeDuc, “If I was any better, then I couldn’t take it.”

Mr. Philosophical, South Hills’ Steve Bogan wrote, “He walked out of that tomb — and that changes everything.”

Arroyo coach Jim Singiser probably answered it the best, “I will always care more about what was done than said. “

Then of course you have the funny guys, like Bonita coach Eric Podley, who wrote, “Just ask coach Gano.”

And in true form, Damien’s Greg Gano showed one cheap shot deserves another, jokingly writing “Come-on Lou,” which is just another friendly jab in his longtime rivalry with Charter Oak’s Lou Farrar.

And uh, Diamond Ranch’s Roddy Layton? He was too cool to answer, still talking up his much anticipated game with Diamond Bar, and not letting me forget I ranked South Hills ahead of them in our final 2009 poll…
