What? No love for the big WR at Walnut?! This guy is huge, AND fast! Saw him today in 7 on 7 against SD and Wilson. Wow! Can't believe the "Guru" wouldn't be all over this kid! And his counterpart is huge also! They're both 6'4" or 5 and run very well!
On a side note...the new coach at Wilson got upset today at Coach Z over at SD. Apparently his guys weren't covering Z's offense very well, and when Z ran a hooknladder, the guy went off. Wouldn't shake hands, claimed Z was "big leagueing" them. From where I was sitting it looked more like the Saints were just kicking the Wildcats ^%$#@ and dude couldn't handle it! If you look at the link on Cantu his ball doesn't spiral very well. That's usually from some problems with hand size or wrist issues. Not making a judgement but that's what I see. Yes he's accurate but everyone is on a highlight film. I mean who puts floaters and errant passes online for everyone to see, and that's troubling because none of the passes are crisp.

As far as Jeffries, I was surprised how thin he is. Maybe too thin. In fact I didn't believe it ws find until some Bonita parents said , "Yup that Jeffries!"

To all the players...stop with the GQ muscles and put on some football weight. Too many six pack abs and not enough girth to take next level punishment.

Put down the stat book and check what leagues they play in. How many yards did Cantu rush for -13. Not very mobile.

Guys, 7 td passes for Jefferies? Last I checked, a qb's main job is to "throw the ball". Cantu's stats dwarf Jefferies! Cantu threw 21 more tds and another 800+ yards. It's not even close. I think you missed it, but I appreciate the fact everyone has thier own opinon. If you were truly at the DR game you would know Jeffries only took his team down the field with 2 min. left in the game to set up the game winning field goal. Cantu cant run with -13 yards last season to Jefferies over 600 yrds. You want a complete player you have to go with the kid at Glendora.

Scouting G, did any muir paricpate at the usc camp last weekend? If so how did they do?

Amat is going to surprise alot of you haters this year. I know its early but they look pretty good thus far. Offensively we look to be coming together quite nicely. Wallace (and others) will definately add a new demension to our offense. Defensively the pieces are starting to fit together and all returners are getting healthy and ready to go. Gonna be a good year and "as usual" everybody will be looking to knock us (Amat) down a peg or two but I think we are shaping up nicely for the challenges ahead. Go Big Blue!

That was an acceptional piece you wrote there Amat Dad, hopefully WG will get excepted to all the universities he wants to attend. I herd he has uppertunities to play both Fuzeball and Baseball at the next level.

Wallace Gonzales is the real deal and will show it on the field this year, not only will he dominate the pac-5 at the tight end position he will do it in amazing fashion. I was fortunate to be close enough to the program last year when Wallace joined the Amat family and you can credit his immediate attitude adjustment to the Bishop Amat coaching staff, faculty and mostly the football player family who took him under their wing and explained what it is to be a Lancer. This is what seperates Amat from the rest, they build acceptional young Men and get them to bring out the best in themselves. Win or lose Wallace will leave Amat a much better young Man.

I think you missed one on this big three. Chad Jeffries should be replaced with Aaron Cantu from Schurr . A much more complete QB and much more accurate passer.Saw Jeffries last year against DR and seemed to be just an average player.Cantu passed much better against DR and showed D-1 ability.Time will tell and I think Cantu will get many D-1 offers by years end.Anyone can throw balls at a camp but the real sign is to throw a ball under pressure and Cantu has shown to scouts that he has that ability.

Everyone is making a big deal out of this kid, Chad Jefries.

I saw him play in two games laast year at Cirtus and while I do belive that he has he tools to be good and compete at the next level, I honestly don't see what all the fuss is all about with this kid.

The young man has a strong arm thats for sure, but what he has in abilities, he lacks in accuracy.

I saw him in these two games throw the ball when he was getting pressured, and more often than not, he missed the mark.

Again, this kid has all the tools, but if you ask me, he reminds me allot of the quarterback that Amat had in Verti's first season.

Tall, strong, with allot of upside, but couldn't hit the side of a barn when under pressure.

Sorry, just my take.

Guru what time at UCLA. Guru it would help to post the times and cost of events if any bloggers want to attend. Especially eye opening for young kids to watch what's expected of them. Couple of other notes:

I think we both forgot about the kid from TAFT who committed a day or so ago to ASU as a QB. His name is Michael Bercovici who is the same height as Chad, but also close to 20 lbs heavier.

Also did you or anyone see Max Wittek at the Dana Hills passing tourney? I didn't go but heard that him and Victor Blackwell kicked butt at the tourney, and beat out Los AL for the championship.

Also forgot that Centennial High's QB in Bakersfield ALSO committed to USC. He is rated even higher than Wittek.

Cory Willer from LB POLY also kicked butt at the Air Strike Tournement and is switching from DE to LB!. Heard he was amazing in the 7-7 drills. His good pal and teamate Kameron Jackson who has comitted to WASHINGTON, is trying to steer Cory up North. If that happens, then they will form a awesome duo!

Any word on Beverly Hills STUD greg Townsend JR? I know he is STILL uncommitted, and I would love to see him in a SC uniform.

WOW, where to start!

I really like the insight and information you provide but lets try to take it a step deeper.

Is Sioasi going to be a guard or center? After watching him at the USC camp I don't want to say tackle is out of the picture just yet. He has the strength and quickness to be a pulling guard, as well as a center. His hand speed from a stance on his knees to a upright passing protection is a little slow, but it can be worked on. If you know how Kiffen, and Orgeron think then IF he is offered at USC, then guard it is! His size at 6'2 is also a little small for their liking, and with 6'5" Henderson anchoring the line this kid could plug up the left side. He does have VERY GOOD instincts, and his upside is very promising.

Having one or two kids from Huskie land does not make Fresno St. a hot bed for S/H kids. The coaches do have a good repoir with the S/H kids, and it has worked out fine up to date.

Also is it good or NOT to go to a Nike camp. Its not as good for Sioasi to attend but it sits well for Chad? Which is it?
I will agree that "skill" players are looked at ALOT longer and harder, at a Nike camp, but it really doesn't add to much if the coach can't seem em, as I mean heresay only goes so far would you agree?

As for Chad at Glendora, I personally say he leaves the state, and maybe not even in the Pac 10. though Oregon St would be a good fit, if he gets a PAC 10 offer as would almost ANY run based team. At 6'2" he can perform at the highest level. STILL watching him drop back with no pass rush, and NOT taking a hit at camp is ALOT different than going at full speed in college. I have spoken with coach Pasqurella ( our kids go to the same school in San Dimas, as his wife teaches there), and he thinks IF Chad has a excellent season he may wind up in the Pac 10 like you say. I personally say he fits perfect into a squad, like Kansas, or Missouri. Teams that love to wing it down field, and like smaller Qb's.

As or waiting on the kid from Chandler,AZ Brett Hundley I think its a done deal he heads to Oregon, especially now that Masoil is Kicked OFF the team. Remember he still had TWO years remaining, and this kid has a shot to step right in, next season.

I do like the fact that UTAH SHOULD join the Pac 10 any day now. This will make all those other QB's stop to think. I think Derek Brown of Vista Muerietta is the WC in this whole picture.

As for Dennis from C/O, I hear he is debating on the the UW camp Tuesday, or Oregon next week. I still would not be suprised IF USC comes a calling ESPECIALY if he heads to UW and Sarkisian like him. Remember this kid can play OFF/DEF, and special teams IF need be. If SARK likes him I doubt that Lane and USC wouldn't offer. Lets not forget Will Harris from Charter Oak, was one of Orgeron's last recruits so they know the school. I would like to see him in Cardinal and Gold just for the simple reason of returning kicks/punts as both Williams, and McKnight are gone for the Trojans.

The Gonzales kid now at AMAT, only has ONE thing to worry about and concentrate on. HIS ATTITUDE. Playing in a STRONG conference, in the PAC 5, he will be looked at heavily going up against the bigger boys, and bigger recruits. Its not really his talent, people are concerned with. IF he keeps his nose clean, NOT only will he be the STUD on AMAT, but maybe the WHOLE SERRA league. He has SO much upside, that HE could easily be the T.E of the class of 2011!

On my way to hitting the golf course later today with some old USC Alums, Charles White, and Rod Martin. I may just talk a little about recruiting.
