Is Giovanni Rivera the next Oscar Arzu? The Dons back averaging over 300 yards a game

“My philosophy has always been, if you’ve got a gun, keep shooting until someone stops you. My system requires aggressive kids willing to get their noses dirty.”Dons offensive coordinator Don Le Gro .

It shouldn’t come as a surprise to longtime Valley football fans that Sierra Vista High School junior Giovanni Rivera carried the ball 42 times when he rushed for 318 yards Friday against Mountain View. The Dons (2-0) are averaging more than 400 rushing yards a game. Rivera is averaging 308 yards and running mate Erick Garcia is averaging 119. The return of the Dons rushing game coincides with the return of former coach Don Le Gro as the offensive coordinator.

I highly doubt he will be the next Oscar Arzu. They only beat a bad Mt. View team by three points. If he is going to run for a lot of yards they have to produce touchdowns against teams like Mt. View.

Who have they played? Blame the coach when he goes down with an injury, you don’t have the same instincts that you did on your tenth carry.

He might not be the next Oscar Arzu but there’s one thing that is certain. He will definitely get the carries and yards to come close now that Don Legro has returned to help the Dons. He was successful in the 90′s with a powerful running attack while stressing the importance of the system. Yes, they will need to score more TD’s and finish off teams but that will come in time. Giovanni Rivera will have an opportunity to follow the line of great running backs to come out of Sierra Vista under LeGro’s tenure. We’ll see how the season plays out…

I DIDNT KNOW THEY STILL PLAY FOOTBALL AT SIERRA VISTA.. SCHEDULE US, AND STOP RUNNING FROM IT..
WE ARE ONLY 2 MILES AWAY ON THE OTHER SIDE OF TOWN.
BTW, NONE OF YOUR RUNNING BACKS WILL EVER COME CLOSE TO THE RUNNING BACKS WE’VE HAD AT B.P. I DONT CARE WHAT #’S YOU GUYS PUT UP..

    GO BRAVES !!!!

maybe a oscar interiano….since we are talking montview rbs, darrell mcgee duarte circa 94-95 is the best rb in montview history(arugably of course)

  • Lets not forget…..

Marshawn Thompson (all CIF, all state, SGV Tribune POY)and Greg Moore (father of Amat RB Jalen Moore). They were great running backs that represented the MV very well.LeGro remembers them very well.

My question is how can you rush over 200 yards and score 10 against MV?Do you have to rush over 400 yards to get 2 touchdowns?

Dont forget Rubacalva. He ran the ball very well for SV.

Bravetown… we have other problems to take care of before we start calling teams out.

Please do not try to respond by a typical “wait and see” entry, I am at every practice and games. Until our coaches start coaching a team rather than individuals you will not make a change. BP always played solid as a “TEAM” back when the Haro’s, Robles, Ruiz, Phillip played, regardless of who they were or where they were going as individauls. Its not just about these Duarte kids. They found a place where we would take in the Duarte Kids along with thier coaches. As a parent It is clear we are not playing as a team.

Hard to tell. I dont see either team going the whold distance to the Super Bowl again. It’s a great time to make Superbowl bets though, the odds are really high.
