Girls Volleyball: Bonita gets sweet revenge, beats Los Altos in four games in Hacienda showdown

Bonita High School needed four games to win its second Hacienda League match of the season Tuesday.
But for the Bearcats, there was more at stake than an advantage in the Hacieida League standings.
There was a little case of some sweet revenge, which Bonita believes it got after a 29-27, 25-23, 24-26, 25-20 victory over Los Altos.
The Bearcats (11-2, 2-0), getting 22 kills from senior outside hitter Katie Kirby and 42 assists from senior setter Ashley Maxfelt, vied it as payback for the Conquerors’ five-game victory to win their first CIF-Southern Section girls volleyball title last fall.
Los Altos, getting 11 kills and eight aces from Jazmen Russell and 15 kills from Amanda Brown, slipped to 7-3 and 1-1.
Bonita outside hitter Katie Kirby: “It’s revenge. We wanted it bad. We wanted to prove a point.”
Bonita coach Adriana Contreras: “Los Altos is a great team, both offensively and defensively, and they obvisiously brought their A game in games 1 and 2. But we’ve been preparing for this match since the beginning of the season. My girls did well.”

Should be a great game tonight. Good luck to both teams. Be sure to post outcome right away. Any predictions? I think Bonita wants LA bad after the CIF loss, but with these games, you never know.

This is going to be a great game but having seen both teams, I believe Bonita may come out on top. Los Altos has a great fan base so Bonita may get a taste of their own medicine when it comes to playing in someone else’s house. Which will rattle Bonita but Bonita has a small militia of fire power.

    Bonita in four.

A battle for the early lead in the Hacienda League. Los Altos in 5 tough sets.

This should be fun…I hope some one is there and able to post scores.

I do think this will go 5, I’m just not sure in whose favor. Of course I want the Lady Bearcats to win it but I’m not sure LA is willing to loose this game at home. The way I see it:
1 Both teams are very athletic
    2 The Rivalry
3 Are the Lady Bearcats mentally tough enough?
    4 The LA Fans

    Wish I could be there.

Go Lady Conquerors all the way! I know you can do it again…in 4!

I would like to hear the other results as well. I think there were some other big games tonight. Walnut-Diamond Bar and some Sierra league battles too.

Bonita in 4, 29-27, 25-23, 24-26, 25-20. LA had late leads in first 2 games just couldn’t hold off Bonita attack. At this point of season Bonita looks the better team, though not by much. Looking foward to the rematch.

Gladstone Def. Ganesha 25-22, 25-12, 9-25, 25-19. Ganesha started too slowly in games and Gladstone’s defense was very sound. Hopefully we can get a better result at Gladstone. Good crowd though and a fun match overall.
Sounds like LA-Bonita is still a great rivalry.

We will post the results of Ganesha’s JV Tourney on Saturday evening. 16 teams entered at two sites.

LA played very well last night but could not hold on to their lead. They led by 5 in the first two games, but could not close. Bonita only has Kirby as their strong hitter and Ashley did a great job as usual. LA needs to utilize Brown more. Great job by both teams. Can’t wait for the re-match.
