Late Breaking: Vaughns playing for Charter Oak

I was caught by surprise when South Hills sophomore transfer Aaron Vaughns made his debut for Charter Oak on Friday, getting four carries for 17 yards in their loss to Claremont. The junior running back was one of four South Hills players to transfer and with his approval, all four who left the Huskies have been cleared by the CIF-Southern Section, which include Brock Booth and Randall Varella to Bishop Amat, and receiver Chris Gilchrist and now Vaughns to Charter Oak. Vaughns was apparently granted a valid change of address transfer on Oct. 13.

  1. Wow how So. Hills has fallen. I know that So. Hills has had a successful program the last 5-6 years…..why did they lose those 4 kids? They are definitley struggling this year and will be hard pressed to win another game with Chino Hills, Charter Oak and Claremont still on the schedule. They will likely end up 2-8. Is this Vaughns the real deal like his brother? I just don’t understand all of these kids moving from school to school. I guess I think it should be like it was in my day where kids took pride in their school and played hard thru thick and thin. I think most of this comes from the dads who think their kids is is a D1 prospect and not getting a fair chance….UGH! I would never let my son transfer.

  6. Big Time….You’re funny.

That kid is lucky if he is 5 feet tall.

    Strong on defense????

    C’mon Daddy!

  7. Unfortunately, it happens early on in youth football. The “dads” try to live through their kid because they weren’t all that back then. Most importantly they don’t realize its a team effort not an individual sport. They never seem to be pleased or satisfied no matter what. They should have their kid go out for track, wrestling or any other individual sport if they are going to act like that. They always think the grass is greener on the other side. What they don’t realize is that when they start playing at higher levels such as in high school. There is more talent and their kid is going to get less touches because the ball has to be spread around. In high school you are not guaranteed 10 plays like in youth football. Once you make your bed you should sleep in it what message are you sending to your kid? If things don’t go your way bounce around? Have some pride and loyalty.

  8. Let me get this straight, the kid moves into the Northview school district and enrolls at Charter Oak and this is a valid change of address? No athletic motivation whatsoever? Charter Oak should hold a workshop on how to successfully accept transfers, from what I gather, they’ve had tons of transfers, but none are EVER athletically motivated.

  9. I’m trying to figure out why this is even news to begin with? Someone enlighten me please. South Hills lost a lot of players due to bad coaching and coaches playing favorites. Very unfortunate, because with some of those players on defense for SH, that 2-5 could’ve been a 5-2 instead.

  10. AMEN CH Husky Fan! SHHS, where my nephew played on 2 CIF championship teams and where 2 more nephews currently played have gotten hosed in a big way with the 4 transfers and some injuries. Without the transfers they would have been much better. Injuries are part of the game so that is what it is. The CIF is a joke with the transfers. Since they rule one way and then reverse their ruling when someone says “boo” or “Lawsuit” then should just let kids go wherever they want or start enforcing the rules with an iron fist! I don’t know the actual facts, but it probably has been 25 or 30 years since South Hills has gone 2 and 8 which is exactly what they will be once they get absolutely routed by CHHS, CO and Claremont, unfortunately!

  11. Interesting, are you kidding me? Bad coaching at SHHS? They have been widely lauded for their coaching ability and have like a 20 year track record of success. Give me a break. If all those kids stayed, they would easily be 5 and 2 or better like you wrote. Coaching and favorites isn’t the issue. Bad parents living vicariously through their children because the dad’s athletic careers peaked when they were 12! CIF needs to either enforce the athletically motivated rule with an iron fist like SGV lifer wrote or abolish it all together.

  12. And the point was? Why those kids left? Why would a starting middle linebacker, a starting wide receiver, and if not QB, a starting tight end leave? Two years in a row DR beats SH. C’mon, seriously. Way too talented to lose in any game, but the final, if that. Coaches are suppose to be smart enough to bring it together and make it work, unfortunately they couldn’t do it. It’s either bad coaching or the coaching wasn’t good enough!

  13. Come on guys 7 games into the season and you are still crying about transfers . you weren’t crying when the transfers used to be coming in to SH but now that the shoe is on the other foot so to speak all you can do is cry that it’s no fair. Nut up and admit it , without the outside help of transfers your local talent can’t get it done or is it really just a case of unprepaired coaches who have lost the knack of molding kids into football players.

  14. TOOK ONLY ONE HIT TO NAIL IT! LACK OF COACHING IS THE CASE! BIG CASE TOO!

Even now with the bad losses SH has had, there’s still no sign of teaching those kids that can’t tackle and can’t run a proper route or make a decent block! Very sad.

  15. All I know about this INTERESTING blogger is that it starts with the initial S…and tails off with an H…sources have confirmed. Whoever you are (I know exactly who but am keeping quiet) you are doing no good for your own job security. The web records are undeniable.

  16. Please enlighten me!

  17. Thanks for taking the time to discuss this, I feel strongly about it and love learning more on this topic. If possible, as you gain expertise, would you mind updating your blog with more information? It is extremely helpful for me.

  18. Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It’s very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.
