I think the "geography lesson/debate" began due to the knucklehead at the beginning who tried to stretch the SGV to Corona.

(BTW - I can buy a New York times at a bunch of Starbucks in the SGV - but that doesn't mean I'm ranking teams in Brooklyn with our guys :-)

FWIW, I think readers get confused between your SGV(N) List and Fred's Super 35. IMO it would make far more sense if each paper would rank only their geographic schools and no school should be ranked in two papers. Then your list should encompass all schools that are covered in the entire group.

You guys are totally missing the point on this geography argument. These teams are in the SGVN coverage zones, which are the Tribune, Star-News and Whittier Daily News.

The Pasadena Star-News has Pasadena in its name, but it covers surrounding areas, too, i.e. Alhambra or San Gabriel.

The San Gabriel Valley Tribune is the same dynamic.

Again, there are racks all over Chino Hills that carry the Tribune (sold out usually, too). You can also get it at any 7-11 out there (sold out there usually, too).

Same thing in Pomona and Claremont.

Historically Glendora and Azusa were known as the east end of the SGV .You know that little hill you climb on the 210 freeway just after Glendora , well that is where the SGV historically ended .

Pendleton had 225 yrds and 3 td in only 1 and a half quarters. I can not wait to see him play the rest of the way. Keep up the hard work GP.

As someone who has been in the SGV before the 57 fwy existed - it is really the San Jose Hills that separate the Pomona and the San Gabriel Valleys. Back then then the other side of Kellogg Hill was like a whole new world.

The 57 now dissects that range - so that's why it is used as a reference. San Dimas HS is on one side of the Hills - while a majority of the city is to it's east... and La Verne is even to the east of that. But as I said - for all intents and purposes they are both considered in the SGV -if for no other reason than it is a political and economic benefit to do so. Realistically - I think we can use the San Bernardino County as the border

Joe...Historically and Geographically speaking La Verne and San Dimas have and always will be the last end of the SGV. The Ganesha hills enclose that last end of the Valley, these separate the Pomona Valley and also the Inland Empire from the rest.

The 57 fwy is usually what divides the SGV from the Pomona Valley. So technically San Dimas, Claremont, Pomona, Diamond Bar, and La Verne are in the PV - not the SGV, but are usually included and the SGV is normally extended to the San Bernardino County line to the east.

The Puente Hills were historically the geographic divider of the valley to the south, but because some cities overlap the Orange County line to the south is typical. If you were driving east on the 10 Fwy form LA, you would pass a sign in Alhambra (around Fremont Ave) that says "Welcome to the San Gabriel Valley.

To try to extend the San Gabriel Valley thru San Bernardino County and into Riverside County where Corona resides is to bastardize geography and an extreme stretch at best.

I would think the valley ends out by pomona and la Vern, down to diamond bar/ walnut, along the 60 towards Monebello/ Alhambra- then up towards pasadena/ Altadena then back east along the 210, going back toward pomona/ laverne. If you get up to a high pointe somewhere you can see the whole valley, same is true for San fenando valley, you can see the mountain ridges that encircle it.
Now how whittier is considered part of the valley I don't know, its sOuth of Rose hills appears to be on other side of SGV.

Corona is not that far away and maybe officially part of the valley - Centennial is ranked #5 nationally and B Amat ranked #202 - seems that the best team in the valley is by far in the city of Corona
