Saturday Morning Quarterback: Covina second-half rally shocks San Dimas; South Hills stuns Claremont; West Covina pounds DRanch

Covina 27, San Dimas 23After starting the year with a miracle comeback that ended with Covina scoring three touchdowns in the final five minutes to pull out a victory over West Covina, the Colts did it again, only this time it was for the Valle Vista League title.

For quarter updates of tonight’s games, click thread.

Friday’s results
Covina 27, San Dimas 23 — Colts battle back from 23-6 halftime deficit, Billy Livingston’s 17-yard touchdown pass to Andrew Carillo with 28 seconds left was the game-winner. Colts win their first league title since 2006.
South Hills 29, Claremont 14 — And you thought the Huskies were left for dead? What it means is that South Hills’ game against Charter Oak next week will likely be for third and the final playoff spot. Unreal.
West Covina 41, Diamond Ranch 10 — The Southeast’s top-ranked Bulldogs crushed the Panthers like they have everyone else, which secures the inaugural Hacienda League title.
Chino Hills 29, Charter Oak 22 – What a perfect night for Chino Hills, not just getting the win, but with South Hills’ win they’re now in a tie for first place in the Sierra with Claremont.
Damien 37, Ayala 14 – The Spartans are not out of the playoff picture left. If they can pull a South Hills and beat Claremont, they have a chance to get in.
Upland 41, Glendora 14 — The Tartans’ playoff hopes were bleak entering tonight, now they’re gone, and they still have to play Rancho Cucamonga.
Diamond Bar 34, Los Altos 6 — The Brahmas are finishing the year the way it started, but need a huge win in the final week against West Covina to keep their playoff hopes alive.
Bonita 57, Rowland 0 – The most impressive result of the night. The Bearcats answered a tough loss against West Covina with a crushing win over the Raiders.
Arroyo 40, El Monte 7 -- The Knights wrapped up the Mission Valley League title and another win should guarantee a Mid-Valley Division playoff seed.
Mountain View 15, Gabrielino 7 — The Vikings’ kept their faint playoff hopes alive in what has been a solid turnaround since a year ago.
Rosemead 34, South El Monte 0 – The Panthers will play El Monte next week for sole possession of second in the MVL.
Gladstone 49, Duarte 0 – The Gladiators probably won’t make the playoffs, but they have improved over last year.
Sierra Vista 21, Ganesha 13 – The Dons can still finish 7-3 with a victory next week. Is that good enough for a Mid-Valley at-large?
La Puente 41, Bassett 6 – The Warriors continued to look solid and can lock up second in the Montview with a win next week.
Azusa 36, Workman 0 – The Mid-Valley’s top-ranked Aztecs are doing what everyone expects, winning and winning easy.
Baldwin Park 57, Nogales 6 — With San Dimas losing, if the Braves beat Northview next week they will finish second and get the automatic playoff spot from the VVL.
Pomona 41, Wilson 21 – The Red Devils got a win after playing Covina and San Dimas tough earlier in the year.
Walnut 35, Northview 0 – The Vikings shouldn’t feel so bad, a win over Baldwin Park in the finale gives them a shot at the playoffs.

I’m calling it now san dimas beats covina co beats c.hills… i will be at the covina sd game i can’t wait going to be a hard nosed game but sd will previal good luck to both teams !!!

  • Aaron

Bonita in a rout, beginning of the year I thought this would be a tough game but the way Rowland has imploded and the need to get back on track is why I see it this way.

I would love nothing more than the Real San Dimas to please show up and beat Covina, I really would. Good Luck to the Saints.

  • Opposing Coaches – They See It

After each game there are the usually handshakes in 5 of the 8 games for Wilson thus far the opposing head coaches/coaches have taken #3 aside for a brief and private talk/encouragement message – (3 coaches in fact for D Bar)

and every case the message is basically the same and it is the opposing coaches that see – they really see “it”

  • WHO CARES

Opposing Coaches – They See It, HAND SHAKES??? WHAT NOW, YOU WANT HUGS FOR LOSING. COACH CALL IT A SEASON AND WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR. THE STORY IS ABOUT COVINA & SAN DIMAS.

WILSON GO OUT GRACEFULLY AND YOU CAN’T CHANGE THE PAST, BUT BUILD ON THE FUTURE.

  • West co bro

Westco will lose tonight sorry I had to say it. Westco fans :)

  • Dear Who Cares – build the future

Maybe if #3 would actually tell his own coaches what the opposing coaches are saying to him and act on that advice – it would be the first step of “building for the future” for Wilson

  • BrahmaBull

the only reason coaches take another player aside is can you say…..TRANSFER. Seriously, If I was Zavala it would be pissed.

  • http://www.insidesocal.com/sgvfootball Aram

Opposing coaches — They see it,

That could be the dumbest comment I’ve ever seen on these blogs. And that’s saying something.

  • RCCougars

Tonight there are some big games in each league. I am pulling for CO against Chino Hills, only problem CO has not won a big game against this caliber team in two years. I think they will pull this one out and get the monkey off their back.

    West Covina over Diamond Ranch.
    San Dimas over Covina.
    Upland crushes Glendora.
(Glendora welcome to Baseline league 1 and 4, 1st yr in league).

  • who cares

BUT ARAM, WE ALL FELL FOR IT AND NOW WERE COMMENTING ON IT.

WE TOOK THE BAIT, NOW THE BLOGS GETTING OFF TRACK WITH THIS WILSON CRA*.

  • Colt74

In the immortal words of Michael Buffer : ” Lets get ready to rumble ! ”

San Dimas would love nothing more than to send the Colts back to the corral and the Colts would love nothing more than to see the Saints go marching… off into the sunset. Two good teams, two good coaching staffs, and two teams that NEED a win tonight. BOTH these teams are going to show tonight that you don’t need to have an In-and-Out truck around to see outstanding football games here in the SGV….(although since the blue and the gold have the night off…and instead of the truck just sitting …there IS room at the stadium….)

Have a good game tonight and leave it all on the field.

  • Football Jones II,

    Thank You Aram,
That is just #3 & #7 dad complaining over and over again about the same things and they run out of stuff to say so they start talking about hand shakes???

Wilson Offense: 355yds, 28.9pts per game

The OC is the problem for the whole season???

  • Wilson Parent

    Baldwin Park Game,

Down by 17 in the fourth quarter running the ball and then down by 24 latter in the fourth quarter and going for a field goal are we even trying to win this game or what.

  • Colt74

    Fred and Aram,
Duarte is doing everything it can to keep it’s football program and Wilson is doing everything they can to kill theirs…

  • Football Jones II,

I don’t think you parents are giving the OC a fair shake. If I was the Head Coach and I hired a OC and his offense produced 350yds & 28pts per I would be looking to better my team in other parts of the game not offense but YOU are the ones making it personal not the coaches.

You clowns better start worrying about Pomona because they are not a push over!

BTW, for those that are looking for a guaranteed BATTLE tonite,it’s gonna be a helluva BATTLE tonite Covina @ San Dimas. If there’s any question, yesterdays JV game was back and fourth of INTENSITY football for 4 qtrs.It did’nt help that there was only 2 referees that lost control of the game from the get go. It wasn’t a game that had to be won for a trophy, letter, playoff hopes, but a game full of pride (SD won, only loss is to RC).

Tonights game is guaranteed a (as Colt 74 said) RUMBLE!!

My prayers and wishes for a safe, clean, exciting game and ofcourse a SAINTS win!!

  • Dear Football Jones

Let us go back a few weeks:

    Halftime: Northview 27 Wilson 10
Wilson passing yards: 0 passing attempts – one

    3rd QTR
    #3 gets three receptions – 71 yards and a TD, score 27-24

Sounda like a horrible 1st half of play calling

B Park – 48 seconds till halftime after BP punts the ball score 28-19 – 1st a ten at the 46 yardline a one timeout remaining

if there was a really good time to put in a QB who could actually pass accurately – this would have been the time – result no score at all, coaching staff not using correct weapons

if these were the only two situations then so be it – but there are way, way too many of these throughout the season

The behind the seens issues over here are going to be front page news very shortly, These other issues are all going to be taken care of witj the outcome of the on going investigation. My source states their will be no cover up this time.

I heard our JV game at Covina was a great game. On the other hand our freshman lost the League Title to a very physical and good Covina freshman team. Both teams came in undefeated in league and we lost 28-14. So that sets up Tonite’s game. Boy is it gonna b exciting. We will have our stands full, hope u guys do also..

  • Talk about off track…

    SAINTS FAN

Freshman, and jv don’t play for league titles. They’re an imaginary title used by bad freshman, and jv coaches to try to keep their job for another year. Give me a group of coaches that utilize the whole team, and coach everybody up, and go 5-5, instead of the idiots that play the best 20 kids both ways, and can’t position coach to save their lives. The goal is in getting everyone ready for varsity, where the titles count.

  • Steve Drake

I am an independent observer with no ties to either Baldwin Park or Wilson. I watched last Fridays game, spending equal amounts of time on both sidelines. I read this blog and was interested to see what the Wilson crowd would look like given how obvious it is that some of their parents aren’t very happy. The size of their crowd was not impressive at all. In terms of size, it was less than mediocre for a SGV road team playing 20 minutes from home.

The nastiness of the comments coming out of the stands towards Zavala and his staff were unreal. They moved the ball pretty well on BP all night, rushing for over 250 yards and ending up right around 400 yards of total offense. That was a very competitive game well into the third quarter. Demetrius Jackson is just a playmaker and his kickoff return for a TD turned the game around. The words coming out of the Wilson stands were so direct and so inappropriate. I feel bad for everyone involved. There are dozens of ways to handle this situation like adults if people aren’t happy that are both discrete and fair. Screaming that #7 should be playing QB from the stands isn’t one of them. Neither is yelling at Zavala and his staff to go back to Workman. Who was that guy? I know you Wilson people know who I’m talking about, his kid has to be mortified.

Football presents these kids with an opportunity to creat some life skills that will make them positive members of society when they are done with high school and have a lot of fun while they do that. The parents who are participating in this type of barbaric behavior AND those who sit there and allow it to continue are sucking all the positive out of what should be a great experience and replacing it with nothing but divisive negativity and entitlement. It’s an ugly situation over there and with the childish behavior occurring more in the stands than on the fieldI don’t see it getting better any time soon.

    Hey Wilson fans ,
I was wondering after reading all the post this seasons about the head coach and his staff. Why is all this seem so personal? Did they physically hurt you our your kids, did they lies to you.is there coaches that bad they make you feel the need to makes these men look bad? My son plays for another school and we support that staff even though were having a bad season.we see there trying no coach goes out to lose. So why all the animosity towards them. From the name calling to threateninpeooples jobs. So tell us. Why is this staff so bad. Just wondering?

Fred, I told u to just open a Wilson Football thread so they can vent to themselves. When I and im sure I speak for others, open this thread we want to read about the upcoming games. This is a Big showdown week in the VVL and we are reading about Wilson crap. I and we want to read about the game and games tonight.

Just for thought. Please save us from all this Wilson crap.

  • Wilson

Being closely involved in this, lied to is on top of the list.

I feel the major issue here is this team from spring ball was told the direction we were going at some point between week one and two this staff decided they were going in another direction. This other direction was from a passing team to a running team. Now if we would have done as good or better than projected many parents would have been fine with it. But getting blowm out by above average teams and lossing to the Northviews has made tjis decission clearly a poor one. Most people dont realize the need to make this switch. When our old OC quit it was late in the game Zavala didnt have much to pick from and he gave the job to Williams. Williams was a running back in College and him limited experience as a OC has been at Workman and he believes his running game cant be stopped. Now the other major issue is Zavala’s lack of knowledge on the offensive side of the ball is shocking, being nice.

The communication skills of Zavala are extremly weak. On multi occasions he has meet with players and parents the problem is he tends to tell them what he thinks they want to hear instead of the truth. Parents compare notes and come to the conclusion he is lieing to them.

This team should be competing with the Baldwin Parks and Covinas not the Northviews and la puentes.

  • To Talk about off track

play the best 20 kids both ways

    MAN,
They need to fire that coach who plays 20 kids both ways. Doesn’t that coach know there should only be 11 kids playing at one time.

re: Aram’s ‘Dumbest comment on this BLOG’

    SHOCKER!

The dumbest comment belongs to a Wilson malcontent.

  • Bones

Well, to be honest, Covina defeats SD, regardless of the final score, it will be ranked at least #3 in the division. However, if the Colts defeat the Saints soundly, they may be ranked at #2, I dont see them jumping undefeated Azusa, if they maintain.

  • opposing coaches

opposing coaches. The samething was happeing last year with the Freshaman Team. No one gave a crap about the boys. Coaches from the opposing team were giving our QB and team advice. How sad was that. Coach Zavala says What us, the parents want to hear. My son will be a Jr. next year and if he says he doesnt want to play. My response will be O.K. Those coaches care about a handful of there players not there up coming kids. #3 and #7 been playing forever its not the dads its us other parents that see it.

  • Word on cameron

And the south hills huskies win. Final score south hills 29 Claremont 14!!!

  • LAalum

u know what wilson…u want a succesful program…get the cancer(schreiman) out the stands, i wouldnt be surprised if “WILSON” is him….he will probably hold his son back ANOTHER year for the playing time..the kid will graduate from HS when hes 20 most likely….

  • hahawildacats

lol this is funny cause screiman did the same thing at HLP pop warner, his son wasnt the QB so he caused a big conflict with pretty much the whole league…that staff coached at workman n they went 8-2 n played for a league championship, that #7 kid shouldnt be QB…who ever said that should stay off the herb because the games i go to when that kid comes in a turnover happens to accur…wilson ur season is over deal w it…good luck next year and u guys are set on offense cuz there all underclassmen…

  • football jones

    WILSON supporters,

LA ALUM makes a valid point.

Things aren’t as bad as some bloggers claim.

A .500 season is excellent for a young 2nd year coach…remember Wilson had 1 win in last 2 years.

HC has 2 valid QBs and he’s trying to balance playing time, this is not as easy.

    Go Wildcats !!!

  • david rivera

another embarassing night at wilson. fights breaking out all over the field.over 30 personal fouls called, players getting ejected from wilson and on top of it we just got our ? kicked again.its really sad what wilson has become

  • david rivera

i cant stomach much more of these wilson games. this game tonight was very upsetting to me. fights breaking out on the field.players getting kick out of the game for wilson and over 35 personal fouls wre called. and the wilson fans blaming the officials for the outcome was very unchildess. there is no discipline on this wilson team and to top it off rice took it to us

    Rosemead————34
    South El Monte——00

    FINAL.

The only consistency is the lack of anything good. Offensive line was terrible all game, Defense was 10x worse. Defense always allowed Rosemead to get the critical 1st Down.

South El Monte’s QB was not ready at all, felt like the 1st preseason game. Rosemead’s offense was on par most if not all of the night. Hats off to them for further exploiting the terrible work ethic that originates from those “awesomely awesome” coaches under “RJ” Hernandez. No one and I mean absolutely NO ONE (in their right mind) can even comprehend the game plan this coach has. I mean, where is it? Seriously.

I would love to see what the parents and other like-minded fans have to say at the end of next week’s Home Game against Gabrielino, which at this rate, will be another loss. If Principal Zuniga had ANY common sense, he should seriously consider axing his “compadre” as coach.

I hope Arroyo takes some teams to task (in the CIF Playoffs) for being the serious underdog just because the entire Mission Valley League is horrible all football season long. They have shown they should have a good chance of going deep into the playoffs.

  • DannyV

    Fred,

You wrote the article “Does El Monte Have a shot against Arroyo?”

Looks like the answer to that is no.

And don’t bother writing “Does El Monte Have a shot against Rosemead”

the answer to that is No as well.

HOW ABOUT THEM COLTS CHAMPS CONGRATS C TOWN YOU EARN IT!

  • Colt74

    1. I told Fred and Aram before the game at San Dimas that Pomona would surprise tonight. Great win Pomona!

    2. Tonight I chowed down on 2 rolls of tums and every finger nail I had left…..

    3. Tonight was one of those rare occasions where I felt bad for a losing team. San Dimas played their tails off and had their way with us more times then I would like to admit. Those in blue and gold DID play with heart and intensity. I applaud the players and coaches of San Dimas. It was an honor to be in the same stadium with their team and their families and fans.

    4. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE 2010 VALLE VISTA LEAGUE CHAMPIONS COVINA COLTS !!!!!!!!!!!

  • Dennis Reynolds

    Hey FredJ,

How is Diamond Bar getting in the playoffs with a 2-4 league record (assuming a loss vs the Bulldogs next week)? Are you saying that they will get the at-large bid in the Southeast Division.

Also, How is Bonita’s victory over Rowland (a team that has clearly given up) more impressive than West Covina’s beat down of DRanch? Or even South Hills win over Claremont?

We are aware of your dislike of the Bulldogs, but your letting that cloud your small amount of good football judgment you have left.

BTW, calling the loss by Bonita to the Bulldogs (a tough loss) makes it appear that the game was close..C’mon Fred you were at the game!

  • FredJ

Dennis, that’s what we call reading way too far into things…why would I dislike West Covina? Because I picked against them a few times. They’re one of the teams I’m most fond of because I went to school with Maggiore. Maybe I should clarify by saying South Hills was the most shocking and Covina the biggest comeback. Does that help? Thanks for the correction on Diamond Bar though, they do need to beat West Co to have a shot.

  • to fred

Even if Diamond Bar loses next week they will be 6-4 and should get the lone wild card in the southeast. With the Hacienda being by far the top division in the southeast i dont see why diamond bar would not get it.

  • ?

Considering what happened today, the only LOCK would be Chino Hills in the Sierra League? Or is Claremont a lock for 2nd and Damien, Charter Oak, and South Hills will see who gets the 3rd?

  • JE

At the Dbar game tonight #14 was in there for all 4 touchdowns(other td was a pick six). Why does this coach insist on playing #2? #14 threw 2 tds in the first 7 minutes of the game then saw minimal playing time until late in the 3rd quarter. This coach is a joke and I dont know what #2 has on him but it is sad to watch when it is clear who the better qb is. I am new to this area so just wondering if anyone can give a reason why this is happening.

  • Dennis Reynolds

    FredJ,

Just going by your actions Fred. Picking against WC in their first four “competitive” games does not exactly scream that your a Bulldog Fan. You finally jumped on the bandwagon tonight.

To be fair however, if you say the Bulldogs are a team your fond of…I’ll take your word for it.

Diamond Bar could very well sneak into the last spot as the at-large team. They set themselves up with some softies as non-league games (winning all four), which can take advantage of a weak CIF rule.

  • AZTEC PRIDE

AZUSA CONGRATULATIONS ALSO, ON WINNING TONIGHT! THIS WIN LOCKS YOU IN THE MONTVIEW LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP FOR THREE YEARS IN A ROW. One more game until the end of the season. Good luck next week against Gladstone and should be a good one!

  • je?

If you were really at the game #2 only had two series’ the entire night. And one of them was after #14 threw a pick. 14 is the starter no question.

  • Living Legend

It’s a great day to be a Colt, those boys play 48 minutes of ball! Just as in the WesCo game they had just a little more juice at the end of the game, great game played by both sides. However the Colts showed the heart of a champion tonight! In big games teams are going to throw their best shots at each other and tonight the colts were rocked but they gathered themselves and found away to win. These are things that champions do find a way to win big games. If they are not a top two seed CIF needs to be under investigation, they own the three biggest wins in the division.

  • AZTEC PRIDE

I’ll also mention this, winning your League is not as BIG as winning C.I.F, but it’s pretty darn close!

Good Job Covina, in winning your League and congratulations…

    COVINA PRIDE!LOL…

p.s. You probably don’t realize this, but did you know if you drive up Hollenbeck, which turns into Cerrittos, AZUSA and Covina are on the same street so to speak and what a coincidence…

    AZTEC PRIDE!

  • JMcDonough

    Wow!!!!!
What a great game! I can’t say enough about how excited and proud I was of all the boys tonight! Billy rallied his troops like a true leader and fought hard until the end. Andrew carillo amazing catch you showed everyone tonight who you really are and have always been a great football player and a pillar for your team. Vinny venegas you are still the amazing player you have always been. Making huge plays for your team you remind me so much of mikey when you run hard like you do, dragging players on your back fighting for that goal line. Nothings changed in you since you were 9. Thank god we got you off that side line and into covina or we could have lost you to westco. There loss was our gain. Johnny padilla your still an animal out there killing people and protecting vinny untill the end. Peter delacruz I was bragging about you to Aram and he even agreed you were having a great game.nick simons and all the rest of the team, I haven’t enjoyed myself watching the success of a great football team since my sons era. But truly I feel like I’m watching my sons again …my viking sons and Billy the perfect fit and leader for your team. Daniel sifuentes get better I want to see you out there, your team needs you too! Congrats to the coaches coach t and joe brown great job again! And congrats to the teams parents…a word of advice…treasure these moments capture them any way you can…the flee so fast…too fast. Enjoy. And I will enjoy right along with you!!!!!!! Aram. Can’t even express how good it was to see you again!!!!GO COLTS!!!!!!!!!

  • Dennis Reynolds

    Sayheybootylicious said,
“PLEASE NAME another team that would have an opportunity of taking the at large bid from diamond bar??”

Answer: Pasadena, Crescenta Valley, Bellflower, El Rancho all have a shot…I do concede that Diamond Bar may be a slight favorite though.

  • SaintsR4real

    COLTS WIN BIG!!

Great win Colts, congratulations on outright winning and deserving the 2010 Valle Vista Championship! You guys were so far behind, I can’t imagine MOST of your fans thought you had a chance. You need to celebrate the success of fighting to the end, all 4 quarters. This game iwas much like the SD, Monrovia game, but SD found themselves on the opposite end of the score. We knew coming in you guys were gonna get your fair of points if we couldnt play perfect football for 4 qtrs. Hope your boy #76 is okay, seems like he took a foot to the neck.

San Dimas Coach’s…. How do you score 23 points and only allow 6 the first half and then not score 1 single point in the second half???
I understand the blunders the boys had, which happened 1 too many times tonite, but nce the opposing team has adjusted to your offensive plays, don’t you switch over to plan B, normally opposite of what you were doing before????
IDK…just a thought! Dilon Corona, DeMarcus Lawson, Jordan Taylor did great, but your telling me that’s all you had in your tool box?? Last time I checked, the field was wider than 15 yard wide. Sadly, this isn’t the first time this happened, so unfortunately this will happen again.

SD Boyz…. IMO, your still the top team I know!!

Once again..Great Job Covina and I believe the Mid-Valley Finals goes though you guys.
And thanks COLT74 for the classy comments!!

Azusa fans, keep repping you team. Every one of us with top seeded Midvalley teams do the same thing lol… I will be the first to say..Azusa is a great team this season and and they are on the top of everyones Feel good story. I am not sure what is going on these days, but isn’t 14-0 and dream season? I mean you have to go 10-0 to go 14-0, but the top teams in the midvalley risked their perfect seasons to be battle tested. They did this because everyone knew the mid valley would be tough as nails this year! Monrovia, San Dimas, Covina, BP,Whittier Christian all took thier lumps, and lost their perfect seasons, but they learned something about their teams. Hell Azusa has not face a team with one good QB or WR, or notable Running back… I am not sure anyone says “Hey I want to go 10-0 and lose in the playoffs”… Undefeated in preseason and league don’t get your name on CIF Trophy. Please ask the writers to Stop saying 10-0 is your dream season. What about all the teams that lost a game or two, and won CIF? Lets just say that dream seasons are when a team holds up CIF Championship Trophy. Any thing else just hurts for a long time. Just ask monrovia, Ranked#1 all last year 13-1. Winning games, blowing people out, High siding. It was all smoke and mirrors. They were not tested until the last 2 games. They Barely got by whittier Christian, but got snuffed out by San Dimas. They would have traded their record for San Dimas’s Title. I am just saying… Aram and Fredj would be helping Azusa more, by giving them a # 13 ranking in polls…Then at least they would have a chip on their shoulders, and they might have pulled off a title run. But with all this feel good, 10-0 perfect season stuff, they have really mixed some dangerous kool Aid for that camp, because you know you created a overated team, and when the top teams like Monrovia, Covina, and San Dimas come hunting in playoffs….oooowee… We are going to see what they are made of. 9 players going both ways…. The Fake cheers, and roars against crippled oppenents are going to cease! Absolutely no one in valley is paying attention to Azusa’s “Race to 10-0.” Because everytime you mention that story, some one is going to ask “who did they play?” and Someone will answer “it doesn’t matter baby, They are, or We are 8,9, 10-0.” I have seriously been at several Midvalley games and I did mention the Aztecs were good! And Every time someone asked me who did they play. I went I said Bell Gardens and La Puente. They said “Exactly”.Everyone will be interested in Azusa when it comes to time to play their 3 game of the season. The Valle Vista is where it’s at…Right now. The Covina vs San Dimas game will effect the Mid Valley playoffs in a major way…Aztecs are#1 for now, But I would say Psuedo #1. I know A aztec fan is going to say…I am hating, or “Keep winning baby”. Deep down in your heart, you know.. “you have no Idea how good your team is!!!” Make me eat my words!

  • Bones

Dudes, without a doubt in my mind, The Colts deserve to be #1 seed in the Mid-Valley Division! Azusa is good, dont get me wrong…I definitely believe the Colts would beat Azusa this time around, no bull–t! However, check out strength of schedule for both school, and quality wins, too. Anyways, Im saying CIF had any balls, Covina will be #1 seed in Mid-Valley, just you wait…

  • Wow

dang look at rowland…i find it funny how they went undefeated first few games..then lost to claremount by what 3 points? and then comes league and they get destroyed in every possible way, guess they just fell apart pretty bad

  • Coach Sterlz

    Congrats Covina and DT!

  • coltfan97

Wow what a game by both teams. San Dimas I would not be shocked if we see you guys in the playoffs. This is how this game of football is supposed to be played. Both teams showed heart and determination. Quiting wasn’t an option it’s just sad that a team had to lose tonight.

As for my colts great job! You guys made this alum proud. I don’t know what it is about this colt team but the never say die attitude fits perfectly! Your a team and its fun to watch.

As for the emotions after it was great to see. You could see it in the players eyes how much this meant to them. Enjoy the league title for a week then its back to business. Congrats Covina! Congrats to Coach Thomas, Coach Brown, and the rest of the coaching staff. You guys did a great job this year!

By the way how about Coach Thomas being coach of the year. He has done a fantastic job with these kids.

This Colt team is going to be scary good next year everybody is returning except for McClain

One other note is it me or is that the officiating in high school football is HORRIBLE?

  • Colt74

    Mid Valley

    AZUSA will get #1
    Monrovia…….#2
    W. Christian…#3

CIF holds Covina in the same regards as an ingrown toenail. They know we’re here but just don’t want to deal with us until they have to.

  • DRanchhhh

    OK OK…

Props are due to WESCo…they were men amongst boys tonight. I have nothing bad to say about that TEAM. They were the truth and they should represent the Hacienda Well….

After seeing tonight, I think WC can hang with AMAT. They looked big from the stands, so I can imagine how big they were on the field. Good Job WC, you deserve it…

Still waiting for Pasqy boy to schedule us! Glendora Who?

  • NOT EVEN CLOSE

The most impressive win of the night Bonita over Rowland. Really what has Rowland done this season . All it proved is that Bonita can romp over teams without much talent much like they did against LA. Let’s wait for next week when they face a talented DR and see what the outcome is which will be much like when they faced WC.That win was not even close to WC man handling DR which many thought would be a close contest or SH victory over Claremont , I mean who in their right mind ever saw that coming. How about the comeback by Covina ,that rates in there also but Bonita , give me a break.

  • Aaron

You’re funny dude. If anything DR and Bonita will be evenly matched and the game will come down to field position. You forget that Rowland has a lot of athletes for the opposing team to contend with.

It’s pretty simple that WesCo is far and away the best team in the league with Bonita and DR being the next two…we’ll see what happens this next week at Glenn Davis but I predict it will be like last year except in favor of the other team.

  • Dr

Omg get rid dr’s quater back put the freshman in that played against Los altos.. Dr you boys were flat . Flater then pepsi. It’s that bad U basicly handed westco the game. Hopefully when your in the play off and you have your top 3 starters back it will be a different story glad to see u finally got your heads together in the 4th quarter only 3 quaters late. It was imbarrising last night get your heads together out there

  • david rivera

if anybody wanted entertainment last night they should have gone to the wilson-pomona game. i never have seen so many yellow flags and fights in this game since i been watching football. the one thing i cant believe is pomona,s record. with all the athletes on that team they should be on top of the valle vista. as far as wilson goes they shouldnt have been put into the valle vista, they belong in the montview league. terrible team and maybe worse than hoyds team

  • Onlooker

Before I say congrats to Coach Maggiore and West Covina Football, I’d just like to remind you not to take Diamond Bar for granted. Knowing Coach Maggiore, he won’t. He’s a humble coach. Finish strong and represent our area well. We’d love to go support you in the playoffs wherever you may travel.

Hard work does pay off. Congrats to Covina for their sure league title! And to think when people talked about the playoffs, people didn’t really mention Covina. It all goes to show things happen when teams show up to play.

For the teams that aren’t having a great or even good season, don’t give up. Work hard and you will see the fruits of your labor. As for the seniors on these teams, take this as a positive learning experience. You stuck through the trials and tribulations. Regardless of your records, memories were made.

Good luck to everyone next week and be safe!

  • Wilson Alum

What a game last night, though Wilsons defense made their best second half adjustment defensively all season, giving up just 14 points in the 3rd and 4th qrtrs. to a highly under rated team full of speeeeeeed and talent (Pomona). Cats frustration was clear as day. These boys let out a seasons worth of disappointment on Pomona. It was unheard of and I believe the number of personsl fouls and penalties had to be an all time H.S. record. You would have had to be there to believe it. Ill tell you this, Wilson doesnt take any sh@t from anyone. Ba@@s out all night.

  • Wilson Alum

7 must have moved that offense 150 plus yards on one drive alone. It would have been nice to see what he could have done for Wilson if he had played the whole game. It would have been a W. Did anyone notice how well the offense gelled with 7 in there, and how he picked apart the defense, (a talented one at that). And how the defense complimented and stepped it up a notch, knowing they were now playing for a cause. An actual attempt to come from behind. Once again 7 succeeds against a credible team. If anyone there sees different, they must be one of those #12 stat padding coaches. I guess its obvious who gets the start next week vs. San Dimas (7).

  • just play

Some pride was restored to a great program last night. Way to continue to play hard and continue not giving up. Congratulations seniors on your night. South Hills Husky Football!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • LAY OFF THE KOOL AID

Come on Aaron . Quit drinking so much of the Bonitade . DR will come out blazing and run up and down the field on Bonita. Speed will show again against a slow Bonita defense . Bonita is good but not good enough to overcome their weakness in a game against speed. Same thing on offense. Look for another loss against a better and faster team .

Aztec pride congratulations on winning league. But, in no way is it comparable to winning Cif.

  • Careful What You Ask 4

Here we go again. Whinny Glendora parents complaining bout their coaches. It doesn’t matter who is coacning the Tartys, they just don’t have the athletes to compete in the IE. You should have just kept your mouth shut and stayed in the SL, but nooo you had to go complaining like the whinners you are. Shut your MF mouthes and take your medicine. Maybe in a few years you can whine some more and find yourself in a new league.

  • PHS Alumn

Hey Wilson Alumn, What is going on with that Wilson football staff? They absolutely had no control of that team last night. That was the worst display I have ever seen. Must have been over 20 personal fouls. I saw wilson a few wilson kids actually punching, kicking, and intentionally stepping on the pomona kids. The Pomona kids handled that whole game very well with not one retaliation. Then after the game I noticed a couple coaches on the wilson staff jaw jacking with the phs coaches on their way off the field. Embarrassing! I would have to imagine with the great football tradition you guys have at Wilson they will fire that staff next week. Good luck with that Alumn fan.

Football: It’s the battle of unbeatens at Alemany
    November 6, 2010 | 10:40 am

The Serra League championship will be decided on Friday night when La Puente Bishop Amat (9-0) travels to face Mission Hills Alemany (9-0).

Alemany Coach Dean Herrington said it will be the biggest home game in his five years as coach.

“We’re going to have to play our best to have a chance,” he said.

It’s a matchup of top quarterbacks, with Rio Ruiz of Bishop Amat taking on Vernon Adams of Alemany.

What makes the game so difficult to project is that both teams have developed balance on offense. If you try to stop the run, both teams can pass.

Turnovers, penalties and execution could decide it. And Alemany also has a top kicker in Martin Meza.

    Diamond Ranch,
Good luck the rest of the way, you showed some fire coming out after half time and keeping us scoreless for the third quarter, hang on to that and take it into the playoffs with you.
West Co Bro, [psuedo fan] keep your day job this prediction buisness is not for you.
    Dr.
West Covina may have been the reason your boys looked flat, a Freshman QB would not have helped you last night, DR handed WC nothing, WC took
what they needed, best to take your loss and move on.
South Hills nice surprise win vs Claremont. Covina you boys are a scrappy bunch, way to battle back, I’ve seen that in you before, [against us unfortunatly] good luck in the Mid Valley. Bonita, nice bounceback game, we may see you or DR in the playoffs again.
West Covina way to make us proud, your the first Champions in the history of the modern era Hacienda league, lets not stop here, full focus now on Diamond Bar, one week at a time, keep striving to get better each and every week, keep the train rolling.
Interesting point, WC has taken down three teams from the LA times top twenty five, maybe the times should consider us for the list,,, nawww, that list could be a jinx.

  • Scores Around the World

St. Bonaventure 32, Westlake 31(2OT)[Powerful Seraphs end Westlake’s 22 game win streak)

St. Francis 28, Cathedral 21 (SF fans are now thankful for not renewing contract with Bishop Amat)

Gardena Serra 35, Chaminade 21 (Check out Chaminade! They gave Serra a game. This is their only loss of the season.)

Garfield 13, Los Angeles Roosevelt 3 (20,000 fans attended this game!)

Alemany 28, Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 14 (Closer than expected. However, comparative scoring in the Serra League is suicide. Alemany is still expected to defeat Bishop Amat)

Crespi 41, Loyola 7 (Crespi will do well in the playoffs. They have all the weapons including several D-1 prospects)

Mission Viejo 30, Tesoro 7 (Mission Viejo is on another level. They are favored to win the Pac-5!)

Mater Dei 42, JSerra 21 (i hate md)

Orange Lutheran 21, St. John Bosco 13 (I was pulling for SJB in this one. SJB and BA should play next season)

Servite 17, Santa Margarita 10 (This was a battle to the end. Santa Margarita is a different team now than they were a month ago.)

  • SGV for 30 Years

    DRanchhhhh,

I wasn’t at the game last night. But people I have talked to said WC really took it to DR in the first half. I told you last week that WC would be able to match DR’s team speed and quickness. They just beat teams up on the line and wear them down. Any play can be turned into an 80yd Td. So you had two teams that play similiar games, and have similiar type players.
I haven’t seen Bonita this season, but WC showed the blue print to beat them. I think DR has the speed to be able to duplicate the WC game plan. Plus this is kind of a rivalry game. I think both teams will be ready.
Looks like Diamond Bar is going to get the at large play-off bid. Which means they will have to play the number 2 seed, since they can’t play a league team in the first round.

    SGV430 Ouutt!!!

    3. La Canada – Face Azusa in 1st Round
    4. Gladstone – Face Monrovia in 1st Round

    Middle 8 will be:

    5. Covina – Face Temple City in 1st Round
    6. Schurr – Face La Puente in 1st Round
    7. Valley Christian – Face Baldwin Park in 1st Rd
    8. Bell Gardens – Face Rosemead in 1st Round
    9. Rosemead
    10. Baldwin Park
    11. La Puente
    12. Temple City

    DRanch

Wth is wrong with DRanch? They have some dudes and they can’t do a damn thing. I’m sorry, but a team with that much talent. So many athletes, a running back going to sdsu. Why can’t they win consistently? Why can’t they win games against tough teams like BA and Wes Co? Someone please fill me in. Because year in and year out they have produced Division 1 football players but they really have nothing to show for it. Why is that? You have that much talent and you can’t win games and big games consistently.

I’m sure Roddy is a great guy, but come on? Win! Win! Win! you have so many good players. And what the hell is that article in the blogs that states Roddy and staff has undue influence? So Dranch in recruiting players and still not winning that evens more pathetic. Recruiting kids at young age. Wth?

I don’t get Panther football. They recruit, get a slap in the hand as part of the staffs get suspended for the Los Altos game. Wow, big deal. Panther football needs to do something. Its called winning.

  • Concerned fan

It amazes me how much crap Wilson parents talk on this blog. #7′s dad needs to just come out and say something if he has anything on Wilson. Why won’t you? Because this is the way you keep the pressure on Zavala to play your son. Zavala did you make the mistake of going to bed with the devil? I am a Wilson fan and I just hope thing get better there.

  • You think DR has it bad?

    Panther Football

South Hills football is in the same boat. They always have plenty of talent but yet, have been unable to beat Diamond Ranch and despite their “upset” win over Claremont, this season has been a fiasco for SH football. It all comes down to coaching not the number of D-1 recruits a team has.

Great job Huskies….played a solid game except for the fumbled punt and deflected interception that let Charter Oak back in the game. The defense played very tough. Auston Johnson had another great night in spite of being double and triple teamed. He had 3 sacks and intercepted a screen pass. He is no doubt the defensive MVP of the Sierra League. It was nice to see Ifo Ekpre Olomu healthy enough to play offense again. he is a real game changer. Big rivalry game with Ayala next week. With a win we should get a favorable draw for the playoffs.

KH Glad you are back with us after the beatdown Bonita took, Fact your QB is too slow to avoid the rush, you were there, now you are talking like you will beat WC in the playoffs. dude go back to hiding like you were last week.

  • Aaron

Pendleton too slow…really, I wish someone would have told me this last year. He’s actually pretty mobile, which is relative. He can avoid the rush a good bit and work back to the line of scrimmage for either a short gain or a small loss.

I like how all of you say he’slow and what not…some of you I know are DR fans. And just like the Bearcats you got picked up but the West Covina Bulldog with his fore paws and placed in the corner for an embarrassing time out.

Michael Ball was listed by the LA Times at the beginning of the season as one of the top QBs to look out for. Rowland rolled last season until they ran into Walnut when he went out with injury. I’m pretty sure the Bearcat defense sacked him a bit.

In the end Senior night is this next week for Bonita and after a resounding victory on Homecoming I expect a good game.

Who are the top Qb’s in the valley to keep an eye on now???

  • FYI Aaron

Michael Ball got hurt in the DR game and did play in the Bonita game. Don’t feel so big and mighty Bonita. You still lose to DR and WC will beet you everytime.

  • SLED

    Aaron

To even think your QB is mobile is a complete sign of your ignorance and lack of intelligence in understanding athleticism.

When you see the SPEED of a team like West Covina, it truly exposed his lack of lateral movement, mobility and lack of foot speed to RUN!

I guess if you say it enough, you believe you own BS.

  • Anonymous

Pendletons Rushing yrds, (Max Preps) Totals: Carries 18, Yards -29, Avg. -1.61, Longest 6 yrds. “Oh he’s actually pretty mobile.” HaHa Aaron your funny. He’s actually in the negative.

  • kh

    reynolds,
what was the melt down against w/c vs covia you guys straight out choked.
we will smoke your little fast road runner next time,
if you guys even beat burbank or who ever you play, you guys cant beat claremont, your not that good..

  • WCbdawgs

    kh,
wooww you honestly think you’re better than wc..soo sad. you beat a rowland team that didnt have mike ball? HES THERE WHOLE OFFENSE. DR should take care of you, you wont catch them just like you didnt catch us. I hope you guys can make it to the championship; hopefully you can bring some sportsmanship as well.

  • Aaron

A negative 1.61 avg. You do understand that’s pretty good for a pro-style QB? Especially when you split four wide?

Don’t hate, appreciate. If we lost to DR then we lose to DR…but remember Garrett Pendleton put the team on his back last year against them and it took a Gus Viramontes miracle for that game not to go into over time.

Oh and Michael Ball was in against Bonita and I know he kept getting up and playing hard to the end.

Calpreps prediction: Bonita 35-14 Diamond Ranch

I think it will be much closer and a heated game as always.

  • VERY WEAK

    Aaron,
Your argument for speed at the QB position and the team is very weak. You saw or heard what WC did to them because of their speed . Yes speed counts in lateral movement also that’s why WC’s back were blazing by Bonita’s LB’s and DB’s . Samething with DR a lot of team speed , not as fast as WC but stiil faster thatn Bonita. Do not look to Cal Preps for a win on this one , look to the field . I like Bonita but realistically the team speed will beat them . Aaron does it really matter if he makes it back to the LOS on scrambles , what matters is the play failed and he had to run to save a loss . It’s not like he is a treat to take off and get chunks of yardage . No he’s forced to run because the line didn’t block or receivers were covered. Did you ever look at it from that angle ?

  • Zavala Should Be Ashamed

The trouble started this summer where Wilson got into scuffles with BP and Walnut. Everywhere they went a problem occurred. Now fast forward to the season and you see intentional face masks(which is really dangerous), pushing, cussing and everything in between. Thats not football and the coaches, players and administration all should be shame for disrespecting the game this way. But you know Zavala does’nt give a damn he applaudes this stuff as being “tough”. What happens when these kids get older and have problems at work… just start slugging people. I feel awful for those kids because they are not being taught how to be good young men!

  • Aaron

There’s nothing weak about this argument. It’s that all you people are doing is looking at one small thing. Do you really think Zach Brungard, Matt Gelalich, Reggie Turner, Garrett Horine, Danniel Harriman are slow? Really?

I’m just trying to figure out how Bonita has gotten slower since last season and DR so much faster than they were? Can you explain this? No you can’t.

  • JG

KH i really hope we do not have to play Bonita in the playoffs, first of all i really don’t want to see another beat down, the game this year was so boring WC fans were falling asleep.Forget about what WC did in week o or how good your QB played last year, I guess you have read the book the (Endless Excuse )many time, i must say you got that down bro.

  • Panther Fan

Aaron – really a calpreps prediction? As of this posting there is no Calpreps prediction for the Bonita vs. DR game. I’m confident DR will handle Bonita easily. My prediction DR 35 Bonita 14.

  • Dan

    JG,
Did I say anything to you? What crack did you crawl out of. West Co wins some games and now we have you pounding your chest all over this board, talking like a fool, and making WC look like thugs. Learn to win with class buddy, I give props to other teams cause all these kids work hard throughout the year and deserve credit for the blood and sweat they put in, win or lose I appreciate their effort. Like you said, this board is for opinions and I give mine on here whether you like it or not.

  • Concerned Fan

Actually your son plays a lot more but he gets taken out everytime he throws an interception. Look, all I am saying is that the offense never gets in a rythm because the offense does not have an identity. The kids keep changing from run oriented to “pass” oriented and the whole team suffers. Wilson cried and cried about relief and they got it just to end up being the beat up doll of the Valle vista league. Nothing has changed. Yes, they want a couple of games at the start of the season because they schedule cupcakes. Bring back OVIEDO!!!!

  • david rivera

please wilson administration, help us compete in the valle vista, this is not the miramonte and we shouldnt be at the bottom of the barrel in the valle vista. i dont mind zavala staying as long as he puts a legitimate coaching staff around him. but please please please administration help us compete in the valle vista

  • To Panther Fan and Aaron

As a Big West Covina.fan I had the pleasure in seeing both DR and Bonita. And I must give the edge to Bonita because they clearly have an advantage at QB, we were able to get to him a few times but when we didnt he was able to throw the ball all over the field on us. He got Bonita inside the 20 about eight times. DR does not pose that threat. Both team run the ball ok with a slight edge to DR. Final score Bonita 31 Dr 20

  • JG

Dan THUG? Far from it, i have seen your post in the past, not bad really, it’s only that you get a little condesending, with some of these blogers. Not a THUG i am just telling it like is. I know how hard these kids play, been to many a practice. Sorry i hit a nerve. When i see a FOOLISH blog, i do not have to be diplomatic about my response. i guess you never put on the PADS like some of these other blogers. You called me a FOOL And a THUG, go back and, read what said, I was just implying that you BE YOUR OWN MAN!!!..

  • IE TOWN

    Aaron:

Give it a rest. Your QB a TURTLE! Heard the same story about the other guy at Glendora. Wow, is he overrated too!

  • JG

KH Why would you say that WC could not beat Claremont? what does have to do with price off tea in China. WHAT!!! Let me get this straight are you from BOHI or Claremont??? So i guess the rational is my if my team can’t do it so i will make a case for my other team. HOW CAN YOU LOSE? I am sure you will have another team as the playoffs progress perhaps La Mirada. You are very predictable.

  • Blah Blah Blah

IE Clown, Cant you just keep your Pie hole shut. All you do is come on here and talk shyt about sgv football. Leave Pendleton alone Im sure he will agree he may not be the fastest QB, so what.
And way to talk smack about a kid who is down over at Glendora. He must not be to overrated to get D1 offers. But you must be a “PRO” scout and you know so much more about talent then college coach’s who study ever move of a player before offering. You make me sick !

  • the critic

This is the week we all been waiting for well at least i know us warriors been waiting for this week for a whole year now and we cant wait to whoop on the Amat Lancers………………………MY PREDITION 38-17 ALEMANY…..I WILL POST THIS ON EVERY BLOG SO EVERYONE WILL SEE……..

  • Dan

    JG,
That is what I consider “being my own man”, I would rather give props to other schools after a game than rub it in their face. I like good sportsmanship. Your probably right, I could be condesending on occasion, but its usually in responce to some blogger initiating the exchange. Don’t quite understand how rubbing it in or calling a group of people “nobody’s” is telling it like it is.
My apologies for the fool and thug comments, didn’t mean to get off on the wrong foot with a fellow Bulldog fan, although I believe I didn’t actually call you those names but instead I said you were talking like one, either way I apologize.
Since you brought it up, I did put on the pads and played on Friday nights but it was over thirty years ago, fun memories but I’m ok with the present times, watching Bulldog football is as much fun as playing in my youth. I go to a lot of practices too, if I know you my apologies again, it was more a responce to your calling me out from left field, lol.

  • rowland

    kh
Bonita was up on us 50-0 at half time

are first string squad couldnt even score on your j.v squad in the second half and your j.v. squad scored on our varsity defense

Diamond ranch beat us late in the fourth so bonita after scoring 50 on us at half shouldnt have a problem with d ranch seaming they barely beat walnut in overtime

  • kh

boy is iy nice having that exart hour of sleep,
its 530 and off the tbeach for work.have a nice day,
bonita getting closer to the cif race,

  • just sayin’

“the critic” – I think it’s funny we’re in your head so deep you’ve “been waiting for this week for a whole year”
Why is that? I’ll tell you. Because of last years result! I’m sure you remember that.

  • Drink your coffee and wake up

The coaches did, 9 weeks too late. Anyone there friday knows that 7 moved the ball at will.

  • sgv..in small case

missing boasters alert: has anyone seen steel curtain or chargerfan? please help me find them im concerned, the last time they were seen they were holding hands crying in the parking lot.

  • Wilson Family

    Concerned Fan,

If you were at the Wilson games once again you would have noticed that #7 hasn’t thrown an interception in the last four games and one in the last six games. That one was a 4th and 14 at the 14 yard line with no one open so you take your shot. So how does he get pulled out everytime he throws an interception. During the same period of time #12 has thrown 5 interceptions one returned for a touchdown. Once again a Los Altos blogger with nothing better to do, get a life.

  • hilarious

sgv..in small case – now THAT was great!

  • JG

DAN No harm no foul, Thanks. GO BULLDOGS!!!!

  • Concerned Fan

Why would a Los Altos fan worry about how Wilson is doing. Actually I went to the first 5 games I was ashamed to be there associated to these parents that call themselves fans. I saw #7 throw interceptions left and right and be taken out. I saw #12 lead Wilson to Victory over Los Altos. Look, all I want to see is a team that respects the sport and a team that competes. All this drama created by parents does not help the coaching staff. I remember back then when Oviedo was here. RESPECT was #1 on their goals. Stop thinking about “me”, “me”, “me” let the coaches do their job and just support the team.

  • sgv in lower case

breaking news, missing blasters spotted: steel curtain was seen at the cleaners asking how to take the rusted tears off his curtains…chargerfan was last seen at the Kmart credit department trying to get a credit increase because his mouth wrote checks he couldn’t cash……next time keep it quiet don’t commit to the win too early!

  • Wilson Family

    Concerned Fan,

Once again you talk about these interceptions, #7 had five interceptions in the first two games and one in the last seven games. Of the five interceptions three hit the receivers in the hands and the other two the receivers run incorrect routes, according to the coaching staff. #12 has thrown six interceptions maybe one or two were receivers fault, the majority of them have been bad throws, one was taken to the house.

So I guess what you are trying to tell all us is you are basing your comments on stats over a month old. It is very clear you are #12 dad or a LA blogger. No one has every questioned who the better passing qb is at Wilson. The coaching staff has made it very clear #12 is in their to run the ball, not pass. They attempt to supprise the other team when they have #12 pass the ball.

Please don’t even go into the Los Altos and Nogales game stats, no one really cares what we do against the two worse teams in the SGV. Check out the stats against against the average to above average teams. #12 passed for 89, 84, 44, 29, 25, and 19 yards each of the other games. That is an average of under 50 yards a game passing. I don’t think that is going to get it done. We have to have a balanced attack and until we do we won’t be able to compete with the Covina’s, Balidwin Parks, and San Dimas of the VVL.

  • Drake Levario

Who says you need a balanced attack? San Dimas won CIF last season with a 80/20 run-to-pass ratio…West Covina is dominating with a 80/20 run-to-pass ratio…you prefer a passing game for this Wilson…but to say that you “need” a balanced attack to compete in the Valle Vista League is just not true.

  • Famous quote from Schriemen

This is a very famous quote from Schriemen when #7 was the starting quarterback at Wilson:

    September 22, 2009 2:19 PM
    Wilson Parent said:
It is really funny, Wilson is just going out their game by game and playing. Personally at the beginning of the year I put LA and Bonita ahead of Wilson.
Well our kids are proving me wrong. Weather we beat LA or Bonita isn’t really the issue. The issue is the direction of the programs. That is very clear, at Wilson the future looks great. We have a very young team proforming at a high level. The credit their goes to the coaching staff.

We are very pleased with the state of the Wilson Football program. You factor in the league realignment next year and Wilson is looking real good.

    Thanks Coach Zavala and Staff……..
Our kids are going to “expect to compete”.

  • Wilson Family

    Drake Levario,

Once again, an idoit, San Dimas runs the wing-t an offense designed to run the ball 80% of the time. We are running spread, yes you can run out of it, but it isn’t an offense that is designed to run the ball 80% of the time nor due we have the players to run the ball 80% of the time, as we can all see by our record. Now if you were going to argue to pass 80% of the time with this team maybe?

  • David Mayhew

    Wilson Family,

Is offense really your problem? Averaging 28 pts per season. That should be plenty, if you are giving up nearly 30 pts per game then you are lucky to have the mediocre record that you have.

I think it’s hilarious that of all the schools complaining about results on this board…it’s Wilson. I mean, we’re talking about Wilson here. You’re the Clippers of Hacienda Heights. In the late 90′s you had a bus full of Bishop Amat second stringers show up at your front porch and parlayed that into two CIF titles. Outside of that, who are you to have any expectations? You earn expectations, maybe this is as good as your kids are. I saw you play Baldwin Park, you don’t have a Demetrius Jackson on your team. I’ve seen Covina play several times, you’re a poor mans Covina. Vega is Venegas type but their skill guys are much more consistent.

  • Wilson Parent

You keep bring up that 28 point average. So what you are saying is if we average 28 point our offense is good. When we are down by 17 in the fourth quarter and we are running the ball that ok because we average 28 PPG. Even if we are a very disappointing 4-5 but we are averaging 28 PPG we are ok. Even when we score 27 points against a weak Northview team but give up 34 points our offense is good. We have the potential to put up big numbers on offense but our OC plays it safe, what did safe get us a 4-5 record, 6th place. We have so many weapons and use two of them the majority of them game.

We stuck with the running game against Baldwin Park got our 25 points but gave up 49, thats ok we got our 25. We got 21 against Pomona but gave up 41, thats ok we got 21. If we dont have no defense and we need 50 a night to win especially with the weapons we have on the field we need to put up 50. So many weapons not being utilities, it is so sad.

But on the bright side we average 28 PPG.

Williams needs to go and after that performance on the field at Pomona this whole staff needs to go. Zavala has lost any control he had of this team, he is embarrassing this program. We must have broken multi CIF records. Most personal fouls in one game over 20. Most yardage gained on one touchdown (140 to 160 yards), due to so many penalties. We had at least one 1st and 40, and multi other penalties on that scoring drive.

Just for the record Im not Schreiman and I used the screen name Wilson Parent, idiot.

    Blah Blah Blah

Good name for you! Talkin about a guy down. Prior to your boy going down, he wasn’t all that. Scouting is merely a projection at what he might do? What did he do prior to going down and against who? Playing at the next level, we’ll it might be a little different than playing against SGV teams. Schedule Amat or us if you think the SGV is all that.

You clowns in the SGV make us sick talkin all your trash about us IE guys. Put up or shut up-PUNK.

  • Factoid

    Wilson Parent

Based on what you posted on the Wilson coaches one year ago, Who is the idiot?

  • David Mayhew

    Wilson Parent,

What are your football credentials? I think the internet and football are similar…in that we all like football and we all like the internet…but when it gets down to the details…we don’t really know how either works. Football is complicated…its funny/sad when “dads” are in the stands yelling at a coach because they “see” something that should be improved on. You don’t know whats really going on until you look at the film. Playing in a couple of fantasy football leagues doesn’t make you an authority…as bad as Zavala is in your mind, his knowledge of the game will run circles around yours.

  • AMAT 73

    IE Town,
Hold on there boy . In case you may have forgotten AMAT is in the SGV you speak so badly of remember. Before you go aligning yourself with us why don’t you take that challenge on yourself and schedule AMAT . And also who do you rep and don’t come on here with I rep the entire IE because if you do then why put AMAT in there. Is that because you have no confidence in your own team to do your work for you. When you write you clowns in the SGV you are also talking about AMAT because we are all in this together in the SGV . Don’t make that mistake again .

  • wilson

Watch film to make adjustments that sounds like one of our coaches. I though that was what the coach in the press box was for. Good coaching staffs make adjusts through out the game. Weak coaching staffs only make half time adjustments. Our staff waits til Saturday, then blames it on the players.

  • sgvfan

wilson people, just shut up already and get over it. season will be ending and so will your comments on the blogs. what will you do with your lives now

  • SGV for Life

Enough of the Wilson talk already! They are so irrelevant to what is happening in HS football right now it is a joke! Sounds like the guy that has the issue with running the ball and playing it safe is either the QB’s dad or one of the receivers’ dad. Bottom line is, I guarantee he is someone’s dad who is NOT getting the playing time or stats that the DAD wants! If you think you know so much and could do a better job coaching than the Wilson coach, grab a whistle and your spikes and the .05 cents per hour they get paid and get on the staff for crying out loud. The reality is, you would rather do your Saturday morning quarterbacking and talk smack about the existing coaches. Doing it your way you can never lose a game or make a bad call

Go away and let the fans and dads of the real football programs chat on this blog!

  • IE TOWN

    Amat 73

I know you feel comfortable aligning yourself and acting like the big dogs in the SGV. Probably a good argument except the other dogs just might be puppies. Then you love to talk about being all together in the SGV because of logistics, but really during the years, it’s a lot of talk about being in the PAC-5 and making other puppies in the sgv feel a little less worthy. Which side is it?

Then you have clowns like Aaron and that bozo KH act like they can compete with Amat and take a few slots at the IE. Thats fine, CC ropes a few cattle out here and we know the difference between reality and fiction.

If you feel good about it, schedule us Amat and let the Big Dog fight.

    Talks cheap isn’t it!

  • AMAT 73

    IE Town,
I do hear what you are saying , but in case you haven’t noticed the SGV is coming around to the fact that AMAT competes at a different level of competition then the rest of the valley when league rolls around and not so much this season but also in preleague. Of course some of them are going to say they can knock us off and like they say on any given Friday night it might happen . In the beginning stages of the blog what you say about the less worthy was true but it is much different now I believe. I have seen posts where SGV bloggers write to IE bloggers and others about taking on AMAT if they think they are so good. You would have never seen that type of reply in the early days. As far as Aaron and kh both are solid guys and their team is having a fine season so nothing wrong with feeling good about it and thinking they could stay on the field with AMAT and possibly beat us . I guess you are a CC fan/honk who is on a tear this season and it is probably set in your mind they can beat AMAT . I believe you will see AMAT take on a team from the IE next season as we do have a couple of preleague slots open . You know with all the recruiting we do that we have to cover all bases. Good luck this week and in CIF .

  • IE TOWN

    Amat73

I agree with your comments! But as for Kh or Aaron, to think Bonita could compete with Amat or us is just a ridiculous thought. They might be able to get on the field but to compete….?? we’ll you should know the answer to that.

These clowns just don’t get the level we play at… Ask Glendora, rude awakening this year!

Man I dont know, it’s too far out to be able to tell but somebody can get really high futures odds on Superbowl bets right now.

  • http://superbowlbets.info Willa Contee

Actually the New York Jets are one of the top three leading Super Bowl contenders at the moment. I would make a Superbowl futures bet on them while the odds are really high.
