Sunday Tribbin: Monrovia-San Dimas IV … Set for Saturday night, San Dimas HS, 7:30 p.m.

I bet Monrovia is thinking they should be 3-0 against these guys. They won the first of three encounters last season 36-17 and lead 77-64 in total points over three games. But the Saints beat them 12-7 in the pouring rain for a championship and again with a fourth quarter come-from-behind 35-34 overtime win in September. Maybe the ‘Cats are just unlucky, they’ve lost nine straight championship games. Still, they looked so good when I saw them against South Hills, I just can’t imagine them losing to the Saints again. In any case, this is what the playoffs needed, a spicy rematch.

    You’re An EXTREME Redneck when…..

    1. You let your 14-year-old daughter smoke at the dinner table in front of her kids.

    2. You’ve been married three times and still have the same in-laws.

    3. You wonder how service stations keep their rest-rooms so clean.

    4. Someone in your family died right after saying, “Hey, guys, watch this.”

    5. The Halloween pumpkin on your porch has more teeth than you do.

    6. You have to go outside to to use the “facilities.”

    7. You need one more hole punched in your card to get the next freebie at the local gun shop

    8. You can’t get married to your sweetheart because there’s a law against it.

    9. You think the last words of the “Star-Spangled ?Banner” are “Gentlemen, start your engines. ”

    And finally….

    What men discover after marriage..

    BATHROOMS:

A Married man has only a few items in his bathroom: A toothbrush and toothpaste, soap, shaving cream, and a razor.

The average number of items in the typical married woman’s bathroom is 337. A man would not be able to identify more than 20 of these.

    ARGUMENTS:

A married woman always has the last word in any argument.

Anything a married man says after that, is the
    beginning of a new argument.

    FUTURE:

A woman worries about the future until she gets a husband.

A man never worries about the future until he gets a wife.

    SUCCESS:

A successful man is one who makes more money than his wife can spend.

A successful woman is one who can find such a man.

    Expectations:

A woman marries a man expecting he will change, but he doesn’t.

A man marries a woman expecting that she won’t change, but unfortunately, she does.

    MONEY:

A married man will pay $2 for a $1 item he needs.

A married woman will pay $1 for a $2 item that she doesn’t really need, but she gets it because it’s on sale.

    Good Mornin Y’all
Who Dat, Who Dat, the Dirty Dozen, that’s all, that’s all!

This rematch could gear up to equivalate to the “Smusgepot”. Another guaranteed great game, that will definitely drain all the energy you have.

So how do the Saints stop the Billycats? And how do the Billy cats stop the Saints? Seems the Spartans were able to slow down Bueno to a new low in passing and rushing, but the Minutemen had NO answer for the Saints Offensive Magic Act!!

    Early prediction;
    Dirty Dozen 31, Billycats 21

Sorry if some of your comments didn’t go through, been getting a lot of spam so I was tinkering with the spam controls and wound up sending a lot of comments to spam. I set it back to normal, so you should be fine again….I found a few of the comments in spam and released them.

  • Blackout!

I hope the Saints wear the Black Jersey’s again when they play Monrovia. The Saints came out on fire with the blackout!

  • Observantcat

Lets see, it’s at the end of the year and SD is riding on all of its pride from last year and has even beaten a formidible opponent in Marnatha. Well Monrovia is coming off of an 8 game winning streak and has played by far the toughest Defensive team along with the Best QB they’ve in fact faced this year. I think this game is going to be good, but I think that the Cats are going to take care of their business and move on. We have improved in many of ways on the offensive side of the ball and our defense is second to none in the mid-valley or maybe the entire SGV. I wont predict the score, but it would surprise me if SD gets more than 14 pts. in this game. All I can say is Bring It. Monrovia Fans will pack the Visitors side and probably half the home team side. Not enough bleachers to watch a Semi-Finals game.

  • Dan a BoCat fan

Hey SaintR4real. Scoreboard. Bonita beat you in the smugepot. Show a little humility. Cats rule you. My prediction Monrovia 45 San Dimass 25.

    Dan a BoCat fan,
Bohi rules San Dimas? Really? Take a look at the record for the last 5 years and rethink that statement. Hows that for humility?

  • SaintsR4real

    Dan a BoCat fan….CALM DOWN!
I was referring to the atmosphere, intensity, excitement, people, a game like the Smudgepot brings. Don’t hate, positive comments please. You’re teams winning, you should be happy! :)

Observantcat…… You as well as I know, most of the time our team brings it, but there are times when we just miss the bus (u with me?).
The Saints are riding high on their explosive running game and (when u don’t expect it) BIG pass play. Their overall defense has reached new heights. The only weakness I see, they are focusing on a daily basis.

Whatever the outcome is, this will be a very anticipated thriller of a game. I believe the team that controls the game from the first quarter will keep that momentum throughout the rest of the game, because I haven’t seen any of the coach’s come back in the second half with effective adjustments.

    Colt74, Philly B…what’s your input?

I know you guys will bring it, so may the best team win. No excuses this time, simply some GRIDIRON BADASS FOOTBALL!

I believe I got half your prediction:

    San Dimas 14, Billycats ??

Your a fool! Here you go again taking S@#T just like you did in September Monrovia this Monrovia that, Saturday morning after the great come back Sd wins and your MIA!! We faced you QB the last two times. Take him out of the game and who do you have? SD is not the same team you played in September, SD will not give you 14 points this time, you will need to earn them all. Just like I said last time I’m sure you bever played the game. I think you might want to hold the ring sizing. Oh yes, 40% chance of rain on Saturday. We will have 14 or more points in the first QTR.

  • Colt74

San Dimas 28 Monrovia 20. Monrovia wants this win so bad they can taste it but will over reach and lose it on turnovers. San Dimas will eat up the clock on offense. Not high scoring and close till the end. 0-10 for Monrovia. San Dimas too focused to let this one get away. My 27 cents.

  • Saint4Life

FYI: Smudge Pot standings are as follows:

San Dimas is leading 20-17-1! And the Saints have had the advantage over the past five years as well. As far as ‘rovia, we are eagerly awaiting their arrival Saturday night! ;-)

  • Observantcat

Blame it on the rain;…or whatever your name is… I have’nt responded to you because of your pure outright ignorance. Not only did I play fool I was probably much, much, better than anyone you know who has ever played the game. Since you want to make this shyt personal WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?…and where did your little butt play? Pop warner… anyways moving right along I have way more respect for those who are in this for the fun not for the ignorance. I will respond to Saints4real and other true San Dimas Fans who’s teams are still in it.. Colt74, your team has taken you guys as far as they can and now it’s time to leave the predictions to the real masters of the game, The Teams that are on the field. Covina had a great season and will come on strong next year But this is Whittier Christians time to shine in the upper Brackett. Saints 4 real: it is good that SD is playing the kind of ball that you and others might think they need to be playing, but the facts remain the same…Lets wait until the last tic of the clock on Sat. and we will talk about who’s in and who’s out in the Mid-Valley Finals this season. As far as Monrovia turning the Ball over this weekend, Dont think so, they have held on to the ball and are playing above average D which is really where games are won or lost. Peace Out…see you on Saturday!!!!!!

  • Monrovia vs San Dimas…Mr Football

Rain or shine…Monrovia is going to win Saturday night. Last year it was not the Rain that beat Monrovia, it was the victory earlier in the season against San Dimas, which gave the cats a false sense of superiority. It’s so happens that This years saga, has nothing to do with last years saga. Every one is saying that, It’s two different seasons. That overtime victory this season, left a sour taste in the cats mouth. Everyone, knew it would come down to this. Some have boasted on how the strong the Olympic league was, and How good Azusa or Covina was etc… Leagues mean nothing. Its all about individual teams, and the title goes thru San Dimas or Monrovia again this year. Right now, San dimas is 1-0 this year In this series. I am not saying that San dimas does not want to win the game, and play for thier second mid valley title. It’s Obvious the Saints do. But, this time around Monrovia will be in the position San Dimas was last year…Hungry, playing for pride, and not be dominated in a 2 game series. I am not going to get on here say San Dimas is not capable of winning. They have already proven they can beat Monrovia. However, I believe the cats want it more. It’s reallyp tough to beat a team twice in one season. Whittier Christian and San Dimas are attempting to do that. That is a tougher task than, beating a team you lost to earlier. Don’t kid yourself, Monrovia is alot better than Maranatha especially on Defense and special teams. Monrovia is a alot better than Arroyo. This will be the toughest game of the season up to date for both teams. Please remember the cats nearly shut out its last opponent Schurr. Monrovia hase more weapons than Bueno. You don’t get to the Finals, a Semis with just one person! Monrovias Defense never gets talked about, but they have allowed a playoff low 10 points in the post season. Say what you want, but that is impressive! Playoffs teams are good, its not always about numbers! Bueno step up and made plays when he had too. He move the chains. No one is talking about the punt that he landed on the 1 which lead to a pick 6. The good thing about Bueno is that he can beat you in Many ways. He got that the win! Thats all that matters. Don’t think for one minute that Beuno will have two games in a row where he does not explode. He is a tough smart, and competetive kid. He will look and film and make the adjustments he needs to make. Looking at both teams perfomances, Monrovia will need to limit the turnovers, especially this week. This game is going to be close! San Dimas allowed Maranatha to score a couple of late touchdowns. Garbage time or not, you have to continue to get stop after stop, Monrovia is caple of scoring in a hurry! How ever you look at it, this is a straight up even match up. I am sure San Dimas is cofident they can beat Monrovia for a third time in a row. There won’t be any 42 pt leads at half time. There won’t be alot of flashy runs or High siding. It’s going to be a grinder. I Believe the numbers are in Monrovia’s favor. Friday night is going to be electric. I will be there, along with the wildcat nation ready! My pridiction is Monrovia 24 San Dimas 21(OT). Go WildCats!

  • Mid Valley Fan

    My predictions are

Villiage Christian 31, Whittier Christian 28(OT)

Village Christian is playing well. They just knocked off the #1 seed, and shut out Rosemead. They lost to Whittier Christian during league, but and they are looking to win it when it matters most. This gives them the edge in the game. All the pressure will be on Whittier christian! However Whitter Christian is going to do everything they can to keep from losing in the Semis two times in Row. This game will go back and forth, how ever after a emotional win agains Covina, the heralds will have somewhat of a let down.

    Monrovia 24, San dimas 21(OT)

Monrovia has had the best defense in the playoffs holding Gladstone to 3pts and Schurr to 7 pts. This is a good Sign for the cats. They are going to need that tough D Sat night against San Dimas. This game is going to go the wire. I believe there will be two over time periods. I give the cats the edge, because when two teams play twice, the team that loses first has more fire, more to prove. San Dimas is used to monrovia, turning the ball over late, and giving them a short field. They are use to Monrovia giving up points late, and not closing out games. This Saturday I think the tide will swing in Monrovia’s favor. The cats d is playing so well, that they will get the stops they need to. Now that San dimas has beat Monrovia this year, I think they will see a Monrovia team play its best game. Despite being the higher seed , monrovia is the underdog. They know this, and it will play a big factor in this game!

  • SaintsR4real

    Mr. Football,

Nice piece of insight. For the most part, you have analyzed the Wildcats pretty good. With total respect for your thoughts and wisdom, I have a few questions.

Do you really buy that, it’s really difficult beating the same team twice in the same year? Does this apply to Whittier Christian vs Village Christian or W. Covina vs Bonita, show me more info to prove this. San Dimas doesn’t believe they won the finals last year because the Cats won the first game. It had a lot to do with everybody was healthy (Ryan Koehler) and that was the first time they had any experience with someone like Bueno (Saints have his nunber since).

Who do you think had the toughest competition so far, Saints with Arroyo and Maranatha or Cats with Gladstone and Shurr?? How can you point out that Monrovia almost shut out Shurr, when they definitely shut out Bueno with only 133 yards rushing (top rusher) and an all time low passing. Monrovia only scoring 21 points. Then you state that San Dimas allowed 21 points to the Minutemen, when you darn well know it was “42 to ZERO” at the half and the last 2 touchdowns were allowed by the Saints 2nd and 3rd string kids.

When will “the other players” that all the Cats fans say they have show up?? It’s obvious Mtown has one of the best defenses around and also that Bueno has carried the team every single time. How can your opposition plan their defense on something or someone that has never happened. I believe that’s how Shurr held them down to 21 and they couldn’t score more than 7. I find it hard to think Monrovia had a few if not any 2nd string kids in their last game. I’m sure San Dimas feels they won’t have a 42 point advantage at half time, but they will be attempting it.

I guess the big questions is: The Dirty Dozen have brought it up a few notches since their lost to the Braves and Colts, have the Wildcats??

With much respect for you and your team, may the best team win to represent the “SGV”.

    Observantcat said:
Hats off to San Dimas. They made an incredible come from behind Win. There are really no excuses. But the good thing is that this is a preseason game as opposed to the play offs. I believe that a lot of Cat fans were perplexed by the outcome of the game as they left in the 4th quarter assuming that Monrovia would bring home a victory especially after leading by 21 pts in the 4th. Monrovia played hard and found their defense early in the game as most of us expected. Nick was keyed on early and often as the game progressed. I felt as though Nick was choosing to force his passing game and this was not the night to try anything out of his ordinary powers. As I told you Saints4real, Our D is our secret weapon, but as we all know when the secret gets out you must adjust and the San Dimas Coach’s found us sleeping in the fourth quarter on the right side. I think overall it was a great game from start to finish with some of the most electrifying hits I’ve seen in a long time. This game will make both teams much stronger as the season progresses and will make for the game of the year if both teams proceed to make into another finals match-up. I really dont see either team losing but who know’s anything is possible. Look at what went down tonight.

  • Philly B

Saints4real- Heres my take on you and this saturdays matchup, I think you respect us fans at Monrovia, but at the same time, you have your lil sutble trash talking which makes me think you don’t respect us. I think you believe because you beat us in the early season, and last year in the finals, that San Dimas owns monrovia, and that it won’t even be close. I’m not dumb to think the weather had anything to do with the games outcome at all.

You said: “How can you point out that Monrovia almost shut out Shurr, when they definitely shut out Bueno with only 133 yards rushing (top rusher) and an all time low passing. Monrovia only scoring 21 points”.
How did they shut out Bueno when he had over a 100yds rushing???? Also, did you forget he punts the ball….WELL!!!
And it was almost a shut-out because Schurr scored late in the 2nd half AND it was only ONE touchdown…thats almost NO touchdowns in the game.

Monrovia had the tougher schedule thus far because Schurr has won a CIF title in a much much stonger division then the Mid-valley. They will always be in contention and make the playoffs for the same reason Monrovia always is. Dominance in their league. Maranantha had multiple injuries and their a young team, so San Dimas DID in fact have it slightly easier facing them and whooping them too. Yeah you gave up 21pts but I know it was 42-0 at half so I know the reserves gave up those points not the starters. Basically, I think monrovia wants it more than San Dimas! This game means everything to the players, coaches, and fans! I think SD has it in their minds that “Oh we beat them already….Twice! Once for the CIF…We own them! etc. etc.” Monrovia I believe wants to get over this hump and beat San Dimas for a trip to the title game. Monrovia must Limit penalties, And block well in the trenches to get the running game going for Bueno, Blanco or whoever is getting the rock. Receivers have to be physical and get open for Bueno to deliver the ball to. IT SHOULD BE THE GAME OF THE WEEK! IT SHOULD BE HEAVILY HYPED UP! ITS THE REMATCH IN THE PLAYOFFS! IT CANT GET ANY BETTER THAN THAT!!!!! AND THATS MY TAKE ON IT Saints4Real.

O-Cat your representing hard&proud against these Monrovia haters. I like reading your posts on here.

Colt 74 or 45(whatever day it may be haha)- Go ahead and make your predicitons along with yeh yeh yeh(dumb name if u ask me). Theres nothing wrong with that. But when you start talking s*** about a team in the playoffs and YOUR TEAM Got Beat by some Whitter Christians, it doesn’t make sense because your team….IS OUT!!
    And thats my final burnnn!!
