Grant Jerrett and Eric Cooper Jr., heading to Arizona, giving Lutheran four D-1 starters
With seniors C.J. Cooper going to UTEP and Bruce English going to Loyola Marymount, La Verne Lutheran's big underclassmen made their intentions known over the weekend. Trojans 6-foot-9 junior forward/center Grant Jerrett and 6-foot-4 sophomore Eric Cooper Jr., both committed to Arizona -- giving the Trojans four division one players in their starting lineup.

In response to your questions in number 2 below, the only games Lutheran has that will be worth watching before the playoffs are games in South Carolina, Missouri, Las Vegas and then here at their showcase on January 22nd vs. Price. Hopefully Norvelle Peele will be on the floor so we all can see a great matchup vs. two 6'9" players going to St. Johns and U of A, respectively.
As many have stated before, the league games that Lutheran plays are not very good to say the least.
Congrats to Grant, Lil E and the Lutheran program. U of A scored big time with this double double.
Great depiction of Derek Brown seeming to be bored. I saw him play a lot and can say that the appearance of being bored was only that. The game apparently came so easy to him and he had such confidence that he never seemed too hyped up or stressed out on the court. He would be, in my opinion, the perfect of example of being "as cool as the other side of the pillow."
Looks like Bobby Miles is going to have some company next year when Ronnie Stevens hits the island.
As for CJ Guerero, I understand that after killing it in the summer and the fall, that he is once again the hottest thing around, is elegible at SJB and has opened his recruiting back up after giving a verbal to Western Kentucky.
Finally, in relation to Chris Reyes, I don't know if he and Grant played much against eachother, but he is the real deal and has huge upside. He showed great composure and skill when I saw him play with the Belmont Shore group that consisted of several LVL players, as well as Sharif Watson from Rowland and some Orange County kids.
CHRIS ADAMS IS AT A PREP SCHOOL IN NORTH CAROLINA ,HE IS BEING RECRUITED BY A COUPLE D1'S IN THE EAST COAST.
Speaking of Chris Adams, what ever happened to the other local Mc Donald's All Amaerican Calvin Smith? Great to hear Bobby Miles is doing his thing at the University of Hawaii along with Chino Hills Derek Brown who went to San Jose State after a three year Sierra League title run.
Both could really play the game but somehow I liked Miles better as a high school player because he always gave 100% and works both ends of the court. Hopefully SJS is able to get the most out of Brown who never really seemed challenged and often times seemed bored on the court. Still both were fun to watch.
Speaking of fun to watch, what's the story on CJ Guererro? What ever became of his transfer back to St. John Bosco after running with Miles for that one magic season.
I also hear Bonita might do some real damage if they can get Casey Horine back sometime this year. With the Horine brothers, Zach B. Jordan Butler, Pendleton, James Northrup along with others this seems to be the year Bonita might be waiting for. Not a bad run for Bonita's quietly built a Sports Program while no one was watching in Baseball, Volleyball, Water Polo, Softball, Football, Basketball and of course Band!
Congratulation LVL!!! What a team!!!! Shows how hard work can really pays-off. There is one local kid who is playing D-1 from a local High School. Bobby Miles from Workman. He is avereging 14 min a game and 2.5 ppg. Congrats Mr. Miles. I cant think of any other guys playing D-1 right now. Does anyone know where Chris Adams last years players of the year ended up playing?
A couple of questions.
1) Where is Chris Reyes going and has he played agaisnt Garrett and ,if so, any details?
2) Any scheduled games for LVL so we can at least see these players before they sign their Nike contracts?
3) How amny of these players would have signed D1 LOI if coached by local HCs? Damien, Glenora nd Bonita haven't had a D1 signee in about 7 years so one school having signed at least 10 is remarkable. Matter of fact the last signee that comes to mind is Robinson form Diamiond Bar to USC , didn't work out too well, and a few Gelndora kids that made noise at UCSB, any others?
4) What happen to Nick C? Is he really at Glendora? I thought his family, along with others, were funding the whole operation.
It's a big plus for these kids to be so close to fulfilling their dreams so let's all enjoy the good times while they last.
Fred are you going to give a preseason rankings or pre season All Area team?
