Layton returns after suspension

| | Comments (9) |

Diamond Ranch football coach Roddy Layton confirmed that he served a one-game suspension during the Panthers' 48-14 victory over Los Altos on Friday for an undisclosed blue-book violation that falls under undue influence. School officials made the decision after consulting with the CIF-Southern Section. Layton chose not to explain, but he will return to the sidelines when Diamond Ranch hosts West Covina for sole possession of first in the Hacienda League.

I will say this. Layton is one of teh finest men I have met in my life, and I've known giants!

Brother Tom, who the Salesian field is named after, Ruedaflores, who was honored at both Glendale College, Salesian and Alhambra and Rollinson, who's nationally recogniozed as bot a fine coach and an even finer man...all roamed Salesian back in the day.

Layton is an exceptional human being who does so much for the school and it's athetes it's not funny. Just an incredible individual on so many levels.

I know on several occassions I've said The Great Le Duc has no eqaul but Layton is a different kind of special.

I'm sure Roddy has his views on this suspension but the truth is he's more about kids than most. A straight shooter and a tireless worker few can compare with his commitment to his players. Plus the DR adminsitration and parents love the man.

I wish him only the best.

Still I'm left to wonder what he'd have accomplished at Damein where politics rule the day. LAyton is about "results". How many back to back Finalist have we had in this Fish Bowl of ours? Murderous preseason schedule, countless D1 athletes and a high school experience to remember.

Friday might be my first DR game of the season. Long over due!

Best of luck Roddy, you're incredible in my book.

I wonder why Walnut coaches were at that game and were not suspended. I suspect it is because they have a lo profile football program and uninspiring leadership.

Soooooo, he did violate some rule?

Fear not. I only seek the truth.

dddrrranch,

You said a Walnut coach was videotaping Roddy. How did the Walnut coaches know Roddy would show up at a certain time? Do the Walnut coaches always have a spare hidden camera handy? Does Walnut have an informant at DRanch? Was the Walnut coach hiding in that soccer goal that no one can move? Does the Walnut stadium have security cameras that trigger when white guys that sound like JAYZ step into the building?

You said that Walnut was trying to ruin your season by making you forfeit games. That made me think DRanch was accused of playing with ineligible players. But judging by the one game suspension, I guess that’s not true? Perhaps your B.S. was B.S.? So, since he did get suspended, what did he do?

You said Walnut teaches kids how to kick nuts. Is their kicker giving self defense classes?

If everyone at DRanch knows who was videotaping, why didn’t you guys warn your coach? As a nation we are supposed to be more vigilant. Why didn’t someone give him the Coach Martin costume before leaving the house? Slip.

Since Fred is having trouble getting answers, we look to you, ddddrrrrach, the voice of DRanch. Speak on it.
