I have been finding many different opinions on this and find this post to be one of the more enlightening on the subject. Hope we can increase the quality of responses than what I have seen as many do not seem to be very relevant.

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod's. It works well, but isn't as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that's not an issue, but if you're planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod's larger screen and better browser may be important.

Whitey our poll is worthless, but the CIF poll is not, it is used when considering playoff seedings.

Fred, my gripe is that you have voted for teams you have not watched in person, maybe the Times and the Register, Riverside Enterprise people think you're way off base, for your Inland and pac-5 picks, after all you critisize their votes, my point is the polls are virtually worthless, just fluff and filler, if Amat were unranked in the pac-5 poll I'd still sleep well....the only thing that matters is the 16 team bracket that will be announced on Sunday

I get that - and it;s a problem with all polls, writers and coaches. Some are responsible and try to see as many as possible, some use comparative scores, and let's hope none (like the NCAA Coaches poll) let someone else like the SID fill out the ballot for them. All I was saying is between Fox and ibnsports.com it is possible to see several teams - and then mix in some comparative scores if necessary

If you go back Whitey my main gripes are with the Mid-Valley and Southeast polls since I see a majority of the teams. I haven't complained about the Inland or Pac-5 Division rankings...

I don't have a disagreement with the polls, as I know going in almost all the writers are in the same predicament, not seeing the teams either in person or on televsion, I find it odd that Fred has disagreed in print about the polls that he takes part in, he actually votes for the vast majority of teams in the top 2 divisions without seeing them play, then complain about the polss when SGV teams are ranked lower than he thinks they deserve, just a does of objectivity Fred , please

Whitey, I'm no different than other reporters who vote on Pac-5 teams, we can't be everywhere on Friday nights. But but I have seen several Pac-5 games because of television, like Mater Dei, Servite, plus Crespi. Same with the Inland Division, just can't be everywhere when you're in the Valley on Friday nights...that's why I don't vote on all the divisions (which I could), it wouldn't be fair.

Fred, I was only commenting on the 4 you voted on, I know Amayt is the only Pac-5 team you've watched in person, Inland maybe Rancho,Claremont and Chino Hills, my arguement is, if you vote accept how other writers vote, let the results go without disagreement, let the readers gripe, you're "part of the problem" voting for the vast majority of teams you've yet to watch

whitey - I'm not sure it can be done in other divisions because there is just not enough interest to get the coverage, but I've seen every team in the Pac5 top 10 and those rankings are not too objectionable (although I was not as impressed with Tesoro or Edison and might be apt to drop Crespi around 8-9-10)

Fred, thanks for posting your CIF top ten lists. I looked at them for a minute , thinking that you've probably watched in person just four of the teams that you voted on in the top 2 Divisions(Pac-5,Inland) and 50% or less in the other 2, I've also noted how you disagree, quite strongly in print with previous results involving SGV teams....you vote for teams that you've not watched, other writers the same thing, if you disagree with the results should others(readers) think you have no business voting for Pac-5 or the Inland polls? Or,do you vote in a strictly fish-bowl manner just as a courtesy to give props to the locals?

you voted to keep redlands at #8 (their ranking last week) even though they lost to unranked Miller? Don't you think Upland should pass them? Especially since they Beat Miller. I agree with the others though. The playoff pairings should be interesting when they come out.... It sucks that Claremont will get a better seeding than us even though we are ranked higher than them (that is if they beat Damien). That 1 point loss hurt us. I still think that if we beat Ayala, we should get a favorable draw....I just hope we are in the lower bracket (maybe a #6 seed) so we wouldn't see Centennial in the finals if we have success in the playoffs. I think the inlad division would be wide open if it weren't for Centennial...they are in a league of their own.
