Solomon was a beast this year! Not that race matters, but what is that kid’s ethnicity? He appears to be filipino or latino, either way he’s a very fast and talented athlete! Looking forward to watching him play next year! And offensive player of the year should of been a tie with Pendleton an WC’s O-line sharing the honor! Give the big guys some love!

  • DB booster

    Hacienda League: No punters named.

  • Aaron

Uh dude…the Big guys of WC got some love. The entire West Covina Offensive Line got first team. Think about that.

Congratulations to the Bonita seniors and the few underclassmen that made the list. You guys got to play 14 games, not many teams get to do that, not many teams get a chance to play for a championship.

Glad to see they honored Garrett Pendleton. And what can you say about Mayhem and Chaos or Mikity and Huth respectively. The defensive stats haven’t been put in on Maxpreps for the last game against West Covina but Mikity finished with 153 total tackles in 13 games. Huth finished with 94 total tackles in 13 games.

    Puddin’ and Garrett Horine.

Excellent performances from all the Bearcats this season, lots of leadership will be graduating, but you know what? Time for the young guys to step up.

  • Bulldogs have bite

    Mad d dogg,

I did see Dupleasis stuff Bonita’s run game single handedly twice this year. Intercept Pendleton in the title game. And deliver many devestating hits that many players only dream of delivering! Stats almost never tell the whole story, KC is equally deserving of the honor but I would not say more deserving based off stats…

  • OH NO!!!!

    @ Bulldogs have bite

yes he is a beast!!! but SOLOMON is not filipino WTF??? dont ever sayy that again, please!!! and FYI: he is a hispanic!!!

  • justa question

OHNO – isn’t that name filipino? Easy boy, that’s why the guy asked and says “He appears to be filipino or latino” as in either/or

  • Bulldog

    Mad D Dogg

2 completely different defensive schemes led to difference in stats. Of course he is going to have more sacks, he was stunting 3/4s of the time. WC didn’t stunt Dupleasis too much. The difference is that the coaches watch all the films and vote based on what they see on film. Huth and Dupleasis are both very good players in different ways. You just cant compare stats because of they type of defenses they play in.

Same as how you would rate qbs. How do you compare Pendleton and Johnson. Sure, GP has a lot of pass yardage and TDs, but who’s to say Johnson couldn’t throw for more yards and TDs in Bonitas offense. I could sit here and say Johnson ran for 700+ yards and 12 TDs, what did GP do? It’s obvious Johnson is better. I’m not stupid. People nowadays label the qb position as a throwing position, so that’s what everyone looks at. In the end, the 3 MVPs for the league were all justified.

Congrats to all on great seasons.

  • Dan

Whats wrong with Filipinos? Filipino, Black, Brown, White, polka dot who cares, I would of like him just the same.
It’s about character not color my brother! Congratulations to all on this list and to all the kids in the SGV who put on the pads this year.

  • Katrib

Katrib should’ve been first team offense. He had more yards than any of the other receivers after league ended

  • reality

You could have just as easily selected Bonita,s entire O’line. But for the slimmest of margins Bonita is the champ. Their football schemes of spread, no-huddle,wildcat etc. require greater athelitisizm and brains than the Bulldogs simple offense(no insult intended) Do not get how you leave out Tarez Lemons at the least.

  • http://what Magam

amazing how coaches dislike Bonita. Name the QB offensive player of the year and only 1 receiver is named to 2nd team. 5 receivers with over 20 catches. Look at YAC not how many catches they have. Coaches need to get a clue and not hold a grudge after getting their a**** handed to them.

  • mad d dogg

    BULLDOG.
IS MUCH EASIER TO RACK UP TACKLES FROM THE MIDDLE,
LOOK AT BONITAS MLB,HAD 153 TACKLES.I WONDER WHY.
RAN AWAY FROM HUTH ALL SEASON,
WHO THERE WHEN THEY TURN IN ,THE MLB.
PUT HUTH AT MLB HE HAD TWICE AS MANY AS BOTH MIDDLE GUYS FROM BONITA AND W/C/
    JUST MY THAUGHTS.
    ANYWAYS,WATER UNDER THE BRIDGE.
DOSE ANY ONE KNOW IF ANY OF THE LOCAL KIDS MADE CIF.
OR THEY GOING TO PLAY IN ANY H.S. FOOTBALL GAMES

  • Bulldogs have bite

    OH NO!!!!,
Thanks for the clarification. But please forgive me if you feel like accusing somebody of being pinoy is a bad thing. Both races have Spanish blood ties, so the sir names are similar if not the same.

Filipinos are great athletes too FYI. Ask Pac-Man….

    Go Bulldogs!

  • bearcat

Okay i know its not too serious but if a player is going to be mentioned can we at least spell his name right. its cameron GRIFFIN not griffith, the bearcats jr running back, its been spelt wrong all year, and i was just hoping we could finally change it

  • Don

To the victors go the . . . All-League picks. Same old, same old, fun to talk about but the reality is the champs will get the lion’s share of the picks, as they should. (I’m always interested to see how the better horsetraders make out too).

    By the numbers . . . Total players named: West Covina 18 (29%), Bonita 12 (19%), Diamond Ranch 11 (17%), Walnut 7 (11%), Rowland 5 (8%), Diamond Bar 6 (9%), Los Altos 6 (9%)

What happened to . . . the Bonita Placekicker? Kid was not only the top kicking scorer in the Hacienda, he was tops in THE WHOLE DIVISION. He also was #4 in the Southern Section. Didn’t even misspell his name.

Thank Heaven for . . . Michael Ball. Can you imagine Rowland without Ball? Neither can Coach S.
Also Avalos, Carter, Gelalich, Johnson, and Katrib, double winners all.

No wonder West Covina had such a good running game . . . took all five First Team Offensive Line spots AND they named a Tight End to the Second Team. (Probably needed it when they faced those 5 5 5 D’s the Hacienda ran).

  • Huskies

How in the world did all of WC lineman get first team? Just curious… that last game was not a blowout! Bonita had some studs too!

  • your funny kenny

hidding behind the handle mad d dogg.

why all of a sudden you going under cover…lol

  • SINCE WHEN???

The new way they are doing the all-leagues votes is super wack!!!

first off their only supposed to be 11 + a PK on offense and 11 + a P on defense..

not like 14,15 guys on each side of the ball…

    in the following format:
    OFFENSE:
    QB (1), RB(2), WR(3), OL(5), PK(1)

    DEFENSE:
    DL(4), LB(3), DB(4), P(1)
    -OR-
    DL(4), LB(4), DB(3), P(1)

and secondly, the awards on top such as (POY, and OFF and DEF POY) should not be doubled counted as all-league awards they should be in addition to all-league honor…

    for example,

Solomon should be under first team offense
and also first team defense at the very least second team.

Pendleton should be in the first team offense.

Dupleasis should be in the first team defense.

what you guys are basically saying are that these guys arent going to receive those first team all league patches at the end of the year??? they should all earn their first team all-league patches and them the POY patches or awards in addition…

somethings wrong with the way it was done this season….

A little off topic but I just happened to notice a very intersting article in the LA Times about a possible change to the PAC5.

They quote Steve Fryer of the OC Register as saying that maybe the Sunset league could be replaced by either the Marmonte League or the Big VIII. Intersting….

Also on another topic, it seems that the new floor plan for the downtown NFL stadium just came out. Looks very nice.

  • Bulldog

I beg to differ on the run away from Huth comment. I believe WC felt the answer was to run AT Huth. He flies around so much that he runs around blocks sometimes or stunts himself out of position. He’s a very good player with a very good motor, but you’re better off running at him than away from him. He makes far more tackles on plays away from him than at him because of his athletic ability and his motor.

As to the simplistic offense WC runs, did anyone stop it this year. Bonita did not in 2 tries. WC ran for just as many yards and TDS second time as the first. I would maintain that WC actually runs MORE run plays than most teams they play. The spread may actually be MORE simplistic than the wing T. The passing game looks more complicated than it really is. Some teams just run 4 or 5 sets of combinations. Stopping both offenses is the trick. Bonita under Hatley used to be line up in I and run2 or 3 run plays and throw the ball to Stewart. VERY VERY simplstic, but very difficult to stop.

Here’s the point. If you run 4 plays on offense and that’s all you practice, you get to be pretty good at it and hard to stop if you’re better than the other team. People think you need to run a complicated offense with a million plays. If you a run play once or twice a week, how good do you really get at it? WC runs more than 4 or 5 plays, if you dont believe me, ask their players. I think simplistic is in the eye of the beholder and if it is so simplistic, why could noone stop it.

    Huskies,
The score of the game was close but the line play was clearly won by WC.
With that said, as much as I love our Bulldogs I first felt it was not fair when I saw WC take all 5 line spots, felt bad for other players in the league.
However I just learned at the team banquet last night that coaches can not vote for their own players in the all league selection process, so it was the coaches from the other teams in our league who voted to make our whole line all league, not much we could do about that. They also passed out the team stats for the whole season, West Covina put up some incredible numbers, I see why the other coaches voted the way they did. Here are some stats:
Total team rushing yards – 5171
    Total passing yards – 1072
    Total yards rush/passing – 6243
Total yards Kick Ret. – 749
Total yards punt ret. – 164
    Total yards offense – 7156
Out of a total of 20 kids who carried the ball for WC this year there were a total of 589 carries. If you average it out, every time a kid from West Covina ran with the ball he averaged 8.77 yards per carry. This must have been what the other coaches were thinking of.

Blake Griffin is hands-down the best power-forward in the NBA.A redhead in the NBA. One is almost inclined to feel bad. (See: Brian Scalabrine) However, Griffin attacks the rim with such ferocity and reckless abandon that he has become recognized as a bully on the court. His highlights are so jaw dropping that opposing arenas are left with two options in his wake: deafening silence or raucous praise.

Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It’s very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.
