Yikes, (Sherman Oaks) Notre Dame 2012 football opener in Dublin, Ireland; Top that Amat

What a great recruiting tool, “Go to Notre Dame and win a free trip to Ireland in 2012.” If they’re taking reporters, I’m transferring to the Daily News. Get your passports ready, because Sherman Oaks Notre Dame will open its 2012 football season with a game in Dublin, Ireland, Coach Kevin Rooney confirmed on Monday.

  • Not so free

Unless there is some rich benefactor, the parents are going to have to cough this up. There’s no such thing as a free lunch.

Do you know who the opponent is? I was told my son’s school is going over for the same (general) event. Chandler, Az. Hamilton High… Hamilton seems to play at least 1 out of state opponent every year. Been waiting for them to schedule one of the California big boys!

    RE: Christmas Party

I’m happy to inform you that the company Christmas Party will take place on December 23rd, starting at noon in the private function room at the Grill House. There will be a cash bar and plenty of drinks!

We’ll have a small band playing traditional carols…please feel free to sing along. And don’t be surprised if the Managing Director shows up dressed as Santa Claus! A Christmas tree will be lit at 1.00pm.

Exchange of gifts among employees can be done at that time, however, no gift should be over $10.00 to make the giving of gifts easy for everyone’s pockets.

This gathering is only for employees! The Managing Director will make a special announcement at the Party. Merry Christmas to you and your Family.

    RE: Holiday Party

In no way was yesterday’s memo intended to exclude our Jewish employees. We recognize that Chanukah is an important holiday, which often coincides with Christmas, though unfortunately not this year.

However, from now on we’re calling it our ‘Holiday Party’. The same policy applies to any other employees who are not Christians. There will be no Christmas tree or Christmas carols sung. We will have other types of music for your enjoyment.

    Happy now?

Happy Holidays to you and your family,

    RE: Holiday Party

Regarding the note I received from a member of Alcoholics Anonymous requesting a non-drinking table…you didn’t sign your name.

I’m happy to accommodate this request, but if I put a sign on a table that reads, “AA Only”, you wouldn’t be anonymous anymore!!!! How am I supposed to handle this? Somebody?

Forget about the gift exchange, no gift exchange allowed now since the Union Officials feel that $10.00 is a little cheap
and Management believes $10.00 is too much money.

    RE: Holiday Party
What a diverse group we are! I had no idea that December 20th begins the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which forbids eating and drinking during daylight hours. There goes the party! Seriously, we can appreciate how a luncheon at this time of year does not accommodate our Muslim employees’ beliefs, perhaps the Grill House can hold off on serving your meal until the end of the party – or else package everything up for you to take home in a little foil doggy bag. Will that work?

Meanwhile, I’ve arranged for members of Weight Watchers to sit farthest from the dessert buffet and pregnant women will get the table closest to the toilets, Gays are allowed to sit with each other. Lesbians do not have to sit with gay men; each will have their own table.

Yes, there will be flower arrangements for the gay men’s table too.

To the person asking permission to cross dress – no cross dressing allowed.

We will have booster seats for short people. Low fat food will be available for those on a diet. We cannot control the salt used in the food. We suggest those people with high blood pressure taste the food first. There will be fresh fruits as dessert for Diabetics; the restaurant cannot supply “No Sugar” desserts. Sorry!

    Did I miss anything?!?!?!?

    RE: The ******** Holiday Party.

Vegetarians , I’ve had it with you people!!! We’re going to keep this party at the Grill House whether you like it or not, so you can sit quietly at the table furthest from the “grill of death”, as you so quaintly put it, you’ll get your ******* salad bar, including organic tomatoes, But you know tomatoes have feeling too, They scream when you slice them. I’ve heard them scream. I’m hearing the scream right NOW!!

I hope you all have a rotten holiday, drink, drive and die!

    The B…ch from HELL!!!!!!!!

RE: Pauline Lewis and Holiday Party

I’m sure I speak for all of us in wishing Pauline Lewis a speedy recovery, and I’ll continue to forward your cards to her.

In the meantime, the Management has decided to cancel our Holiday Party and instead, give everyone the afternoon of the 23rd December off with full pay.

  • Colt74

So…any word yet on the Montview selections yet or are they still going for a target date of Valentines Day to get that submitted?

  • Game Info

I did a little bit of research and this is what I found. It looks to be a “Global Ireland Football Tournament” being put on by a company Global Football. Anthony Travel is already taking special reservations for Notre Dame High School for this trip and it looks to be from $2500 – $3000 per person.

  • why?

is football still being covered and written about? Is it not over? Isn’t basketball and soccer season hitting off with tournaments? Perhaps if the reporters showed a little more interest into a sport besides football people on the bloq would show the same enthusiasm also.

  • #1 for a reason

Why ask why? Oh, you must be a complete idiot. This is the U.S.A. Football’s offseason is more entertaining than any other sport(s), in season. You want to talk soccer, or bball, go to a game, and chat it up with one of the other three parents in attendance.

  • $$$

According to Notre Dame’s website, it cost $11,700 per school year in tuition/registration costs.

This is $4,900 more per year than Bishop Amat.

  • Socioeconomics

There’s a vast difference between Sherman Oaks Notre Dame and La Puente Bishop Amat and why Amat couldn’t top this. Amat might be able to beat them from time to time in football but you CAN’T compare the class, money and locale of the two schools. Sorry! The truth hurts! Let me see… Would I rather live in Sherman Oaks or LA PUENTE (SGV)?

  • 12th man

Oaks Christian getting a transfer from Utah..The 6’4 sophmore is considered to be one of the elite QB’s in the country..watch out for him in the next couple of years..It seems like all these fancy schools are always able to land the big one!~..Why cant the SGV recruit quality players????

    Check him out:

  • Frank

This is long and expensive way to go for an A** whipping! Amat is a lot closer, in fact Amat will probably go to your house this year. Anyway it will be a great experience for the kids who have never travelled out of the country before, enjoy it.

  • Red Barron

12th, that kid looks pretty good. Let’s see how he handles the speed in passing leagues. Just in case he doesn’t work out at OC, we could use him in CH.

  • Dan

That was funny, your best one yet.

  • Amat Honk

Dan – If you want to read a hilarious joke, google “the chili cook off” joke. It’s about a guy who gets asked to be a judge in a Chili Cook off. Get the original uncensored version. Too Funny.

  • jcaz

    Thanks Dan,

    Tis the season after all….

  • Dan

    Amat Honk,
Googled and Saw the joke, had me rolling! Thanks.

  • Just glad to see opportunities for the kids…

I agree with not so free… as an alumnus of NDHS, every trip a student goes on is paid for… spent my whole senior year (two decades ago) working to raise the $2500 for a Washington DC trip… but well worth it. As a middle school parent and die hard ND supporter, it is hard to chose between AMAT and NDHS. Living in Hacienda Heights but still wanting my boys to get a catholic education, trying to decide is the daily commute and extra tuition really worth it.

And in comparing La Puente and Sherman Oaks… they truely aren’t that different… really nice areas in both, seedier areas in both (just east of the VN Courthouse is all considered SO… not such a great area now a days)

  • AMAT 73

    Glad to see,
You are right about Sherman Oaks. It is the age old battle of the SOB’s vs the NOB’s .

  • Nice to be visiting your blog again, it has been months for me. Well this article that i’ve been waited for so long. I need this article to complete my assignment in the college, and it has same topic with your article. Thanks, great share.

  • Between me and my husband we’ve owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I’ve settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.

  • Two Words: BLOG HEAVEN. I have hit the motherload, praise him.:)
