How much did Amat miss Zach Shay?

This is for the bloggers who say I post too much Amat stuff .. Shay was awesome before he sat out the last five games with an ankle sprain … Yeah, he left a big what if?

You want to talk what if’s. I say that Bonita is by far CIF Champs and the first game against WC is much closer if Casey Horine would have never been hurt. I also think he would have been one of the top if not thee top player in the sgv. But reality doesn’t live off of “what ifs”

What if DeShawn Ramirez was playing in Monrovias backfield this season. He’s twice as good as the kid you guys have on this video. Good thing is he will be playing next season at Mtown.

Just as an outsider who happened to attend all of Amat’s games last year and this year…Amat really missed Zach Shay. This kid was awesome his sophomore year but was out shined by Jay Anderson. He really stepped up this year and was one of the only players who could handle Rio Ruiz’s passes! And added additional yardage to each pass he caught, unlike another “big” name receiver at Amat. Hopefully Zach stays healthy next year…because Amat really needs him. That’s just my opinion.

ZShay was missed by Amat on special teams[KO/punt returns] and defense. He was an bonus on offense since that side of the ball was in good hands.

Adam Sanchez was under-utilized as a receiver. Seemed that whenever Amat needed a big play, AS came up with one. AS was the MOST improved player over the course of the season.

RR won’t have WG to lock on to in 2011. One aspect of the passing game RR needs to work on is not LOCKING ON to a receiver and then throwing the ball ALL the time. Defenses feed off of that and create t/o’s. That can’t happen.

Does anyone know what Amat’s T/P ratio was for the season? Whatever it was, was not large enough to truly dominate over the course of a season against the TOUGHER team they face/will face.

    FRED

FIRST OFF HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL IS OVER….
SECOND, IS IT POSSIBLE YOU CAN KISS ANYMORE AMAT @$$.
THIRD, WHAT IFS CAN’T BE COUNTED….
WHAT IF ALL THE TRANSFERS DON’T LEAVE SOUTH HILLS
WHAT IF BONITA QB DOESN’T GET HURT
WHAT IF GLENDORA AND CHARTER OAK DON’T CHANGE DIVISIONS
WHAT IF ALL THE PLAYERS ACTUALLY PAID TUITION AT AMAT….(THEY WOULDN’T BE THERE)
YOU CAN WHAT IF ALL DAY.. STICK TO FACTS..DO STORIES ON THE PLAYERS BEHIND THE SCENES, EVERYONE KNOWS THE “STARS” BUT IT IS A TEAM SPORT.

YOU HAVE MISSED OPPORTUNITIES FOR GREAT STORIES ABOUT KIDS THAT FINALLY GET TO PLAY AS SENIORS ANS HELP THEITR TEAM . OR KIDS BACK FROM INJURY OR KIDS THAT BOND TO MAKE THEIR TEAM BETTER. TRY WRITTING A STORY LIKE THAT INSTEAD OF BROWN NOSING AMAT SO MUCH…..
BY THE WAY I AM AN AMAT ALUM…..

First let me agree with Not a Hater, Shay’s Aunts or who ever they are looked like Egyptian queens.
On the rest of the thread, what ifs are only what ifs, but it is nice to imagine what might have been with shay available those last 2 games. I would say that with both games being so close, and Shay playing a major role on the team. He may have made the difference, since the games were that close. Keep in mind Shay also played a lot on defense.

  • STILL A LANCER

Just play your right, Fred you missed the story of RB Richard Alvarez Amat transfer to La Serna a team that was 3-7 last year had not won a league title for 29 years, wins league and makes the semis.Alvarez rushed for over 1100 yds and 25 tds and was named 2010 Whittier Daily news Player of the Year.Highlights coming soon. Now thats a story!!!

Geezus, people…No one cares about La Serna football! LOL!!! Where do you guys come from? This is the Pac-5…It’s the 3rd most difficult division in the entire UNITED STATES OF AMERICA! Do you get it? How many times does this have to be communicated? Why is this such a difficult concept for so many of you to GRASP??? There’s no bigger stage in Southern California, people…deal with it!

Bishop Amat definitely missed Zach Shay! He has great speed and is slippery as heck! He’s was Hagarty’s lighting as Moore was his thunder. He will be unstoppable next season.

  • Ro

He would of made a big difference.his ability to break for big gains on returns ,run plays and screens would keep defense on there toes. Tesoro was able to stop Jalen ,with Shay around they would of had more options than just Jalen.he is also valuable on defense. just like west covina, having more running backs to go to made it difficult to stop.

  • STILL A LANCER

HEY MADNESS,IT’S NOT ABOUT LA SERNA ITS ABOUT A KID WITH TALENT GIVEN THE CHANCE AND SHINNING SOME WHERES ELSE.

AMATS LOSE LA SERNA GAIN! AND BEFORE YOU START RUNNING YOUR MOUTH GET PASS THE FIRST ROUND.

  • figure it out

just another case of an Amt 3rd stringer who wouldn;t see the field in the Pac5 become a star at a lower division. that tells you something about the competition at those levels – and it’s been happening for years. Wilson won Cif championships with Amat backups, Los Altos had guys that were standout who were 3rd options at Amat. South Hills has a guy that’s just another decent Pac5 player but he;s Player of the Year once he went down a few notches. I wonder why?

Shay was awesome before the injury. I don’t think he was outshined by Jay last year I just don’t think they gave him the opportunities he should have had. Moore and Shay could have both carried the ball ALOT more last year which would have given them a triple threat but for some reason unknown they didn’t recognize this. He is also a great defensive player and was really missed when the competition got harder. He will be a beast again next year if they utilize him the way they should.. Great season Shay!!

  • TeachDgame

hey Zac is a great kid and a fantastic high school football player who works his butt off. Shame he got hurt or there would have been more highlights against better teams than what was on this real…. hey poppa, I’m laughing at last highlight “9″ comes in and they jump up to “thump” each other and “9″ knocks him to the ground…. shoulda left that part off the video … nice stick “9″….. love these kids !
