Debate over who gets open invite for state championship will heat up after Centennial beats Vista; And what if West Covina had beaten Covina, would 14-0 have earned them an invite?
The L.A. Times' Eric Sondheimer on Sunday's state bowl selection: For me, Centennial has been the best team I've seen all season when it comes to offense, defense and special teams. But strength of schedule matters, and the Pac-5 champion will have the stronger schedule. You know what else, if West Covina had beaten Covina and entered 13-0 in Friday's championship, would the Bulldogs be in line for a state bowl bid? Probably not, not without a major win on the resume. If they had scheduled Bishop Amat or Mater Dei like in years past and won, and were undefeated, then you could make a strong case for a state bowl bid.

Thank you for that wise critique. Me & my neighbour were preparing to do some research about that. We obtained a superior book on that matter from our local library and most books exactly where not as influensive as your facts. I'm incredibly glad to see this kind of facts which I was searching for a long time.
Hi,
Oh man. This website is awesome! How do you make it look like this .
Keep working ,fantastic job!
I havent played with code at all seems to be the widgets (sounds like a star trek episode or something)
ohhh lovely pics and lovely angels..
You made some clear points there. I looked on the internet for the issue and found most persons will go along with with your blog.
I don't understand until the end of what the heck is written here, because I have no idea of English so well. You are able to write it more obviously? Check Best way to lose weight.
Keep working ,splendid job!
I'm not convinced of that...
Nice!
The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it'll do even better in those areas, but for now it's a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod's strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.
Definitely, what a great website and revealing posts, I will bookmark your website.Have an awsome day!
WONDERFUL Post.thanks for share..more wait .. ;)…
I found your entry interesting do I’ve added a Trackback to it on my weblog :)……
I want to thnkx for the efforts you have put in writing this blog. I am hoping the same top-quality article from you in the upcoming as well. In fact your creative writing skill has inspired me to start my own blog now. Really the blogging is spreading its wings quickly. Your write up is a good example of it.
Write more, thats all I have to say. Literally, it seems as though you relied on the video to make your point. You definitely know what youre talking about, why throw away your intelligence on just posting videos to your weblog when you could be giving us something informative to read?
I know that many have already written off the CC/VM game as a loss for Vista Murrieta...And it appears that CC is already planning another Bowl Game...With that said, VM has nothing to lose here and everything to gain...CC, on the other hand, has everything to lose...So, don't completely count VM out of this one.. They have a different style of football. A style that CC has not yet seen... VM is focused, pumped up and unafraid (unlike other teams that have played CC).
Good Luck Men! No Fear! Go Broncos!!!
ie town,
you guys suck.
both you and amat come out and watch the bulldoggs and bearcats entertain the sgv valley.
i never said we would beat ie town,we would kill you punk butt wind blowin town,ie no love for the ie in sgv, stay put on the other side of the tracks.
enought of the ie,
WHAT ABOUT THOSE BEARCATS BROTHER.
WE OWN THE VALLEY WITH THE VALLEYS BEST PLAYERS HANDS DOWN,
BONITA GETS TO THE BIG GAMES...THATS A FACT JACK.GO CATCH A LIZARD OUT SIDE.
GO BEARCATS
Common Fred, You are making yourself look clueless to even think any team in SGV could compete in the State finals. The OC, IE & Valley would destroy the SGV programs. Football is horrible hear because the only team that dares to face tough opponents out of the area is AMAT.
Aaron, you can forget about Oceanside getting ANY consideration for a D1 invite.
You don't lose three times & get into that bowl game.
If Mission Viejo beats Servite this week, then I dont see Corona Cenntennial beating Mission Viejo this year. CC is good but they are not great! Mission Viejo has Tre Madden who runs the wildcat for them and does a great job, not to mention he is also the starting linenacker. Eubanks was not that accurate against Chino so just imagaine if Ifo gave CC a hard time imagine Tre Madden with the college football blood lines he will destroy that CC defense. MV has the same amount of talent that CC has if not more. The question becomes what if Servite beats MV??? IMO CC beats Servite this year!
KH
You are so full of "What If's"
Want a little cow milk for tomorrow night? Still think your Bcats could handle us or Amat? Yeah What if? LMAO
The winner of the pac5 is a lock for the open division game as both teams are unbeaten and have played some tough teams. CC is a great team however their road to the title includes games with 4th place Yucaipa,2nd place Upland and Sierra champion Chino Hills. Now they get to play Vista Murrieta at home. I believe CC will get the nod over Westlake since the state committee like undefeated teams.
For West Covina to ever get a state bowl bid they would have to upgrade the preseason schedule and play teams like CC,Bishop Amat,Servite,LB Poly ect.
3 NFL players,
I don't even think you have to go back in time.
I'm not convinced that Corona Centennial is the best for this year, let alone going back to 1994.
Westlake, Mission Viejo, Servite, & Gardena Serra would all have a say in the matter, The former three mentioned have had significantly tougher schedules.
Absolute Juggernaut
I appreciate your experience but the 1994 Bishop Amat Lancers had 3 future NFL players on the roster. This year's Corona Centennial team is great but 3 NFL players? Only time will tell but as of right now...that BA team would beat this year's Corona Centennial team.
A high school team w/ 3 NFL players is wicked scary...
fred what if my aunt had balls,
she would of been my uncle.
stop bagging freddy,
after the butt wopping w/c about to receive this friday night then you could make for the real story ,
what if bonita was at full streght first time around
could bonita being 13 play for the state.
fred get it straight
go bearcats
The winner of Servite/Mission Viejo will go to the Open Division.
If Centennial wins the Inland there will be a debate about who gets to go to the DI bowl because you'll have a possibility of a 13-1 Westlake, 14-0 Centennial, and the Defending State Division One Champion and now Seven Time defending San Diego Div II Champion in 11-3 Oceanside.
Not a shoe in and Westlake has some type of case as they got snubbed last year and based on realignmet where they'd be a shoe in for Division II they now have to go against SD Section, City and Other S Section schools.
Theres no way CC gets the open state bid...There strength of schedule isnt as strong as the pac5 champion..Div.1 maybe?? or perhaps even the winner from the Westlake vs Oaks Christian gets the bid..Never the less i think there should be some kind of playoff system to find out who the real champion from Southern California is..They should have the Champion from the Inland from the Pac5 from the Northern and City Section all go head to head until someone emerges as the So Cal Champion..
yes freddie and guru, even if WC had scheduled and beat either Amat or MD(this year) it would still not be enough to unseat Serra and their body of work from 09-10,(defending CIF and State champs) that team is absolutely loaded! btw "I wrote their resume wouldn't of strong enough" correct that, please to read..... their resume wouldn't HAVE been strong enough.......don't they teach so-called writers any grammar, just wondering
If the HUSKIES went 14-0 they would've gotten a for sure bowl bid!!! lol...
What about DIAMOND RANCH? WE ARE, DR! No one can beat us! We send all 50 kids to Div 1 schools! WE ARE, DR!
Yawn.
Usually I don't respond, but if common sense used any common sense and read what I wrote, he would have found that I didn't say West Covina would have deserved a state bowl bid for going 14-0, I wrote their resume wouldn't of been strong enough.
lets see, Serra is the defending CIF and State champ, undefeated this year and somebody in the fish bowl thinks WC is worthy IF they were undefeated? sounds like Freddy and Guru are too lazy to think of something better to fill the blog with this Wednesday.
Fred, no way in hell West Covina would have deserved a Bowl invitation with their current schedule. Like you stated, throw in a Trinity League power and one or two other STRONG Pac-5 teams into the nonleague schedule & now we're talking.
Easier said than done however. I mean, La Habra thought they were ready to start competing with the big boys & you guys know how that turned out. One close loss & they got beat up by Servite & St. John Bosco.
Fred, I agree with you. Corona Centennial is the most potent juggernaut I have ever seen at the high school level. I have witnessed the 1994 Bishop Amat Lancers, all of the Mater Dei's since 1993, and the 2004 Mission Viejo Diablos led by Mark Sanchez. Centennial is scarier than those teams. Even when they struggle, they still manage to cause massive destruction. Let me tell you how dangerous they are. During last week's semifinal, Chino Hills kicked the ball off five times. Regardless of the situation, Chino Hills attempted five onside kicks. Even when they were leading 10-7 with 1:30 remaining before the half, they still attempted an onside kick. In hindsight, you can call that stupidiy and suicidal, but it was clear what Bub's game plan was. He figured the only way to defeat Centennial was to steal a possession or two at any point during the game. He was right. Chino Hills played the game of their lives, Centennial struggled at times, and somehow still managed to win by 19. I personally don't believe in moral victories, but Chino Hills can be proud. However, I was stunned when I heard what the Chino Hills announcer said after the game. He said something like, "Chino Hills fans, how about a standing ovation for our kids, for delivering the best performance in school history." I understand acknowledging great effort, but come on. Losing by 19 shouldn't be the proudest moment in the history of your program. I guess even they realize how good Centennial is.
It would not have. This was as of last week:
Cal Hi Sports State Bowl Rankings
CIF DIVISION II SOUTH
1. (1) Serra (Gardena) 12-0
2. (3) Helix (La Mesa) 11-0
3. (4) Rancho Verde (Moreno Valley) 12-0
4. (5) Chaminade (West Hills) 11-1
5. (6) Kaiser (Fontana) 12-0
6. (7) Porterville 11-0
7. (8) Tustin 11-1
8. (13) West Covina 11-1
9. (10) Steele Canyon (Spring Valley) 9-2
10. (15) Serrano (Phelan) 11-1
11. (12) Oceanside 8-3
12. (NR) Paso Robles 10-2
13. (NR) Mission Hills (San Marcos) 9-2
14. (14) La Quinta 10-2
15. (NR) Bonita (La Verne) 11-1
When Bonita was undefeated at 6-0 before falling to WesCo they were at 13 or 14. Ergo too far down in the rankings to be considered for a state bowl. Especially with a team like Serra having been rated number one all season.
West Covina has no marquee wins this year. Besides Bonita who have they beat?
a 8-5 Venice team.
even if they went 14-0 they would of had no shot whatsoever. We're in the same boat Charter Oak was in these past 2 years.
would have, should have, could have
