Mt. SAC wins another CCCAA title, routs CCSF

Mt. San Antonio College, featuring a unit that includes former area stars Nick Lamaison (South Hills), Michael Edwards (Glendora), Bryce McBride (Los Altos), Marcus Wagner (Bishop Amat), Michael Harrell (Charter Oak) and Deshawn Gaise (Bishop Amat), rolled to its second consecutive California Community College Athletic Association title by routing City College of San Francisco, 34-7, on Saturday.
The question is could these Mounties, who are 26-1 the past two seasons and who feature a load of NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision prospects, beat UCLA, or even USC?

Mt. SAC coach Bob Jastrab: "I'm so proud of these kids and what they accomplished. They came out and played today. I can't say enough about the defense, to shut a great team like that down and give up only seven points. The offense, scoring 34 points, we clicked on all cylinders, especially the past few weeks. These guys deserve everything they get by winning this national championship."
Quarterback Nick Lamaison: We were hungry. Our guys wanted this second consecutive national title and we got it. We worked hard all year, every single day, and it pays off in the end."
Defensive lineman Bojay Filimoeatu: It was just a great team effort, from offense, to defense to special teams. We worked real hard all season, we didn't want to waste it. It was a great win for us, some of our sophomores who didn't play last year. It was a great honor for us to go undefeated and get them this title."

Dawg,

Gotta make the team first, then crack the starting nine.

Coach Parker gets a lot of talent through there and he has some solid local kids coming back, tough group to jump in with. Lots of familiar faces though. Bailey, Nico, Ortega, Ty Buffington and more.

I think they could give some of the teams a run for their money in the Pac-10. Most of these guys ended up at Mt. Sac because of their grades, not lack of skill.

I'll go even a little farther and say they probably could have won the Big East.

Thanks guys, nice to know you are thinking of E. I passed on your good wishes.

Probably a good place to shout out to Daniel Colby who did most of the kicking, (and a fine job of it too), for Coach J down the stretch this year. We go back with Daniel, (a C O alum), and his family to Charter Oak Park Pintos those many moons ago.

And Steve; yes, the Mounties could probably beat UCLA right now. Upper tier Pac 10, no, but the rest?

Oh yeah.
