Glendora High School's boys basketball team finally found its shooting eye and dominated the boards Saturday, defeating Rowland 63-45 to win the Baldwin Park-Sierra Vista Winter Tip Off Tournament. The Tartans (5-0) hit four of seven 3-point shots in the first half and shot 50 percent from the field. "We started to compete in the second half (Friday) night against Diamond Bar," Tartans coach Mike LeDuc said. "We carried it over to tonight. When you're shooting the ball pretty good, you start to get a real confidence about you, and everything gets easier."

The Tartans took a 14-11 lead in the first quarter on a 3-pointer by all-tournament player Michael Doering, then never trailed again.

"We didn't get many second shots, I think four, and they had 13 or 14, and you can't give up that many," Raiders coach Gordon Hamlow said. "It would have been nice to play a little better, but they played well and forced us into bad positions. We made mistakes and they made shots."

The Raiders were hurt when their leading scorer, Sharif Watson, got in early foul trouble. Watson, who was averaging 20 points, was held to seven by the smothering Tartans defense.

The Tartans were led by tournament MVP Nick Colletta, who had 30 points. The sophomore post player had 16 points in the first half, including a pair of 3-pointers. He finished with three 3s and was unstoppable near the rim.

Steven Smith and Kyle Gordon were also named to the all-tournament team for the Tartans.

Isaac Thompson led the Raiders with 14 points.

Thanks for your insight for the great posting. I am glad I have taken the time to see this.

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like 'Mixview' that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you're listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of "neighbors" will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune "Social" is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.

I must say, as much as I enjoyed reading what you had to say, I couldnt help but lose interest after a while. Its as if you had a terrific grasp on the topic matter, but you forgot to include your readers. Perhaps you should think about this from more than 1 angle. Or maybe you shouldnt generalise so a lot. Its better if you think about what others may have to say instead of just going for a gut reaction to the topic. Think about adjusting your very own thought process and giving others who may read this the benefit of the doubt.

Funny to think that lvl bench players transfer and make all-tournament teams at other schools

Congrats to two former La Verne Lutheran Trojans Glendoras' Nick Colletta and Rowlands' Isaac Thompson for making the Tourney Team.

Problem with Glendora playing in these easy tournaments does not prepare them to play in the baseline league. Etiwanda won the Pasadena tournament playing against Corona Centennial and their big 3 (Dunning,Wheelwright,Caffey) all D1 players. Upland played and lost in the championship to Mission Viejo. Glendora will be playing another weak tournament which has all the Santa Ana schools not named Mater Dei. The good news about beating all these weak teams is their record will give them a cifss berth in the playoffs even though they will finish #4 in the baseline.

Really Spartan, come on man said:

Spartan, can't you let Glendora enjoy their early success for a minute before you start with the negative smack talking? You and the Damien Spartans will have an opportunity very soon to try to prove that you are better and that the tournament that your team won was better than the tourney that Glendora won and that your 4-0 record is better than their 5-0 record etc...

Jeezus man, they can only play who is put in front of them and they beat them all. Believe when I tell you, I am NO fan of Glendora and do agree that the tourney they won was pretty weak, but the bottom line is, they won it and looked good doing it.

this is not that big of a deal. if you look at who was in this tournament, you would have guessed that glendora would breeze. but, they still arent better than damien. who won a much tougher tournament and is 4-0. they beat two quality teams in Brea Olinda and Vista Murrieta and blew out the two not-so-good teams they played by 20 and 28. but for some reason that wasnt on the blog.
