Boys Basketball rankings: Damien on top; Glendora to No. 4; Mountain View cracks list

CIF-SS Boys Basketball rankings

TRIBUNE RANKINGS
BOYS BASKETBALL

1. Damien (13-1) — The Spartans lose to Gahr and former Nogales coach Ricky Roper. Still, they’re the best of the rest.
2. La Verne Lutheran (5-2) — Lutheran in the Arrowhead League is like Bishop Amat competing in the Prep League in football. Okay, enough of Amat, but you get the point.
3. Chino Hills (13-3) — This was supposed to be a rebuilding year for the Huskies, but it appears they just picked up where they left off.
4. Glendora (14-2) — Don’t talk to me about Glendora’s schedule, they’re in the Baseline League. Beating Los Osos in the opener was a pretty big deal. Tonight they’re at Etiwanda.
5. Bonita (12-3) — The Bearcats need to learn how to win the pressure games, losing in both the La Canada and Covina tournament finals.
6. Ayala (10-5) — The Bulldogs have the best chance of giving Chino Hills a run for their money in the Sierra.
7. Bishop Amat (12-5) — Let’s be honest, the Lancers have too good of a basketball facility to not be better than this.
8. Rowland (12-4) — Wouldn’t call them the Hacienda League favorites, but they’re going to give Bonita a run for their money.
9. Northview (14-3) — Vikings favored to win another Valle Vista League title. So, how many league titles will that be for coach Rice?
10. Mountain View (12-3) — The Vikings are off to their best start in years, by far the area’s biggest surprise.
