The Inland Insider, Tom Kiss, wraps up Damien's win over Chino Hills

Damien wins: - A mass of shaving cream wasn't the only thing Matt Dunn had to wipe off his face Friday night. There was probably a smile under there somewhere after the Damien boys basketball coach led his team to a 59-50 victory, the first victory at Chino Hills in the history of Damien's program.

Northview wins: Junior Treavon Francis scored 22 points, including 18 in the second half, and senior Brian Johnson had 19 as host Northview took early control of the league race with a 66-57 victory over Nogales on Friday.

Just wanted to say that over on the other side of the Valley Bosco Tech is putting together their best season in a while at 14-4 (1-1). I would post it on the Star blog but Miguel hates blogs. And apparently basketball.

OOOPS!!!!

Right now I am feeling like OLD Hickory!

I got alittle ahead of myself....Serra plays Price tonight not Lutheran....Sorry for the misstep!

My sentiments precisely Lancer and tcbruin....it all goes to that famous saying ...when yo play as a team...YOU WIN AS A TEAM. GREAT TEAM(stressed) Defense last night against the 2 time defending STATE of CAlifornia Champions.(Kudos to #3 and 21 for clutch shooting and #5,20 and 31 for their disciplined and unselfish play) Serra got off to a slow start this year due to the fact that State football playoff kept 4 starters and 2 top ten players away until 3 to 4 weeks ago...from what I saw Serra has plenty of athleticism and height(3 players 6'8" or better and they all play}, unfortunately the much smaller Amat team Played GREAT TEAM DEFENSE, I just had to say that again and Serra came up short. However early in the 4th quarter Serra was down by as many as 17 and their full court pressure made it closer. I wonder how Serra will far tonight against Lutheran, the SG valley's #1 Team...My prediction... Serra by at least 10 as I have seen Lutheran play they don't have the number of horses that Serra has...

I know, it really makes no sense that with the great teams in La Verne -- Damien and Bonita, that a game against Lutheran can't be scheduled. Heck, I'd settle for Damien against Bonita at this point. At least Damien and Bonita are in the same playoff division, wouldn't it be great if they met up in the playoffs?

Damien looked great against chino hills. But really when are they going to play Lutheran? I really want to see how they match up.

Amat game was awesome to see. Too bad there were not more Amat fans there. Hags was there and enjoyed it. Any one see Nieto?

Erttle ACTUALLY coached, the team executed superbly. Joseph Cook really came alive tonight!

Serra has some great athletes, BUT Amat was the better TEAM tonight! Serra coach needed to press earlier once the game was getting out of reach.
