Maxpreps rankings way off

| | Comments (3) |

MaxPreps' computer rankings work much better in football. While we're still waiting for the CIF-Southern Section to release their second basketball polls since the start of the season, I thought I would post where MaxPreps ranks our local teams. It's obviously way off, any ranking without Damien on top isn't realistic. Look at La Verne Lutheran, way down at No. 7. I don't know how strength of schedule works on the computer, but it obviously doesn't factor it in all that much. In any case, what do you think of Glendora on top of the polls and Damien No. 3?

Boys Basketball
MaxPreps Top Ten

1. Glendora (14-2)
2. Ayala (10-5)
3. Damien (13-1)
4. Chino Hills (13-3)
5. Bonita (12-3)
6. Bishop Amat (12-5)
7. La Verne Lutheran (4-2)
8. Rowland (12-4)
9. Northview (14-3)
10. Claremont (9-8)

FYI: We need Lutheran's Bruce English in the Star-News/Tribune dunk contest. Check this out, he won second place in the Dunk Contest in Myrtle Beach.

Last 2 wins for LVL were 90-25 vs Riverside school for the deaf and 90-10 vs Hamilton. Hamilton scored 0 pts the second half. To bad the cifss does not place this "club" team in a better league like they place Oaks Christian in the Marmonte league for football. It cannot be fun playing the little sisters of the poor in the Arrowhead league.
As for Glendora they have no quality wins thus far and should be placed below Chino Hills and Damien. Damien only loss came vs Gahr. In a MLK game Glendora has chosed to play a new school Jurupa which has no seniors. Time for the tartens to upgrade their weak schedule.

Lutheran's Coach screwed the pooch on the schedule this year. Thought they were a National Power - Obviously wrong there. One more national tournament to prove they are. One meaningful game in SoCal agst Price - do not give them much of a chance there and 14 games against the Arrowhead -not his fault as CIF is forcing it on LVL - but the rest of the schedule is his fault. On the record now - NO CIF ring let alone anything else this year.

LVL has a depth problem up front, not sure I disagree as a whole with the current Max Preps ratings!!!!

Glendora is ranked way too high I don't care how many wins they have. They haven't played anyone even halfway decent have they?

Chino Hills is better than Ayala and Damien.

Bishop and Bonita are ranked too high as well.

Lutheran hasn't played enough games yet and hasn't beaten anyone at all worth writing home about.
